Academy Award nominations announced

There are 10 nominees for Best Picture again this year, which I can't tell whether it's annoying or justified. I think it's somewhere in between.

Christopher Nolan totally got snubbed from the Best Achievement in Directing category.

Sooooooo happy that Hailee Steinfeld got nominated for Best Supporting Actress. At 14, she's the youngest person to be nominated for that category. SEE TRUE GRIT IF YOU HAVEN'T YET.

And I'm still campaigning for How To Train Your Dragon's superiority over Toy Story 3.

I still can't believe that Toy Story 3 actually made it to the list of Best Picture! It is amazing! I don't think it will get it, my bet is on The King's Speech, but this is truly a historic moment.

How to train your dragon was far better than i expected it to be, but compared to Toy Story 3, in my opinion at least, there is no competition. I can't talk about The Illusionist since i have yet to watch it, but only the fact that it has the same style with the Triplets of Belleville and is directed by the same person already ranks it really high for me.

I wasn't expecting HP to take any serious nominations to be honest... xD

 

How was Tron Legacy not nominated for art direction? No surprise that it was nominated for sound design, it does have arguably the best soundtrack of the year thanks to Daft Punk, but still, I can't think of any movie that looks like it with the exception of the original Tron.

 

I know Toy Story 3 will win over HTTYD because everyone's jizzing over it, but I just thoroughly enjoyed HTTYD more. I liked Toy Story 3, just for some reason not as much as Toy Story 2. :/

And yeah, I wasn't expecting too much for the Deathly Hallows. There might be more consideration for the last movie, though.

The sound editing/design doesn't consider the musical score, rather the created sound effects used in the film.

However I was also surprised that it didn't get at least nominated for art direction.

 

And yet it wasn't nominated for best soundtrack.

I'm also pissed that Tron didn't get nominated for special effects either.
But I'm really pissed at the Christopher Nolan snub.
