Give it a go. It's really enjoyable.
Not the best anime obviously, but I like it a lot.

Also yes, the soundtrack is brilliant.

I honestly haven't watched it either, I keep seeing it everywhere on tumblr.
I also keep hearing its "amazing" but I doubt that, I keep seeing it everywhere on tumblr so maybe eventually I'll watch it.
After all, I thought originally I was going to hate Dangan Ronpa, but well.......look at me now......

That's what's keeping me away too. I've recently noticed that "amazing" tends to get used when a better phrase might be "pretty good" or "well conceived but poorly executed." Exaggeration like that tends to drive me away from things.

It really shouldn't. Pretty much everyone online today has a tendency to exaggerate their feelings on things. I'm not actually sure what causes it but it's something we should just live with. I'll tell you this much, I'm one of the biggest detractors of the series I've met and I still enjoy it and think it was well enough done. My biggest problem is probably that the storytelling isn't as tight as it could be. Things come up as they are relevant so certain people might find it predictable and there are definitely panels that the artist throws in to fill space. The anime falls into the trap of thinking it can make it prettier. Honestly, I don't like the art direction for it. The grungy, sketchy style that I've heard called, "bad", is actually way more fitting than the saturated coloring over CG backgrounds that you see in the anime. Basically, my point that I didn't actually make was just try to read into what people mean when they say something gives them an orgasm or whatever.

Also, the soundtrack isn't actually as good as people give it credit for being.

Doesn't that really rely more on a person's musical tastes though? I adore the soundtrack, personally, and haven't heard a better one in any anime that come to mind, besides Dragon Ball Z's Funi dubs by Bruce Faulconer.

It's an opinion, yes, but at the same time there are some things that are universally liked and remembered. This stuff doesn't feel distinctive or powerful enough to truly captivate. Shingeki has a fairly forgettable soundtrack in my opinion. The normal backing is generic and the tone songs are good but nothing to write home about. OP is catchy as all fuck though. But take it with a slab of salt because I also think Hans Zimmer is a hack and people love that guy.

Also, I don't really remember much of the DBZ... anything, but I don't think the music was really my speed. I liked the soundtrack for Girls Und Panzer because it was mostly just good rearrangements of military marches and I liked the Samurai Champloo Soundtrack because it had a very distinctive and unique sound without being terrible.

Eh, I'm really picky with what I like and don't like. Usually I don't like anything's soundtrack, or it doesn't stand out enough to catch my attention. SnK's did, though, so I guess it's more my style (same for DBZ). At least we can both agree that the first OP (I'm assuming Guren no Yumiya is the OP you are referring to) is catchy. I enjoy the second OP a bit more (Jiyuu no Tsubasa), especially if we're talking the full song. At least it has openings that I enjoy, considering I don't like the song choices for openings most of the time. :v

Anyway, I guess that about covers...that. Nice chatting with you.

You're taste in music is a lot more selective than mine is, I can tell. Second OP is stronger as a song, but I happen to prefer the catchiness of the first one. But yeah, most openings are pretty weak as these things go but I do happen to like a few. My Soul, Your Beats was another eminently catchy one like Gurren no Yumiya that just really got to me. Sometimes I feel like we should talk more about stuff like this. It's past my bedtime though so I should get on that. The bed that is.

Oh, I'm fine with exaggeration in general. As a general rule, exaggeration is very useful in communication. It's just the kind of exaggeration that I was referring to that I've recently started to find annoying and repellent. With this thread, though, I have to decided to eventually check out Attack on Titan despite how annoying the person who originally recommended it to me was about it. Also:

I've been watching it. I'd say I am rather enjoying it. The art style especially. I say give it a cahnce but you know, up to you overall.

I added the F from Fox in front of Laurence to make it Flaurence. Cause I didn't want to say your full username.

It's not as though you can do me any kind of harm. Sure, you'd probably beat me in a fight quite easily, but that's meaningless when you can't even find me. Emotional attacks are pointless too because I'm already aware that you want to hurt me. You. Can't. Touch. Me. How does it feel to be a powerless god?

Is this from a movie? I feel like I'm stealing this from a really bad movie.
