Kingdom Hearts III About Kingdom Hearts 3...

Obviously, as well as most people, when I first heard it's announcement, I screamed at the top of my lungs with excitement! A few hours later, though, I thought to myself... 'What about people that haven't played the handheld games?'

Sure enough, in the KH3 announcement trailer, it shows Sora picking up Master Eraqus's keyblade, so KH3 will obviously be linked with Birth By Sleep, but what about the people who have never played the (I don't want to say spin offs) linking games?

Some people, that have maybe played 1 and 2, and that's all, will get this game and have NO clue on what's going on. Will it ruin the game for them?

I can't worry about this, myself, because the only extras I haven't played are Dream Drop Distance(Don't own a 3DS) and Re:COM(Hasn't came out in the UK, yet), but I'm pretty sure Kingdom Hearts will be a LOT about the other games, as well as a new adventure.

What do you guys think?

 

Well, as far as I'm aware Square's been making efforts to consolidate the information more. I believe DDD had summaries of the previous games within it, and doing a recap like that for KH3 wouldn't be too out there. Especially considering there's the content of 9 whole games to cover in one, lol.

 

Telling you now Dream Drop Distance is an important part of the story. It sets the stage for Kingdom Hearts III. Anyone who doesn't play or watch that is pretty much screwed.

 

You pretty much NEED DDD in order to understand alot of what happened. considering DDD is a DIRECT (dont wanna say sequal) but starts diractly after the events of kh2. and leads to a whole different story/plot twists/events that will carry over. however, DDD had recaps of what happened in kh BBS, 1,2,days,CoM and coded. SO if you get DDD youll understand the jist of what happened in the games before and what will happen in KH3.

 

I haven't played Dream Drop Distance either but from what I understand it had a sort of journal with a recap of past games. Furthermore, the HD remixes will help users that have missed titles along the way.

Whether KH3 will have something to help people catch up (like in Kingdom Hearts II, where Sora's memories flashed into Roxas's dreams--it provided a good reminder) remains to be seen, but I imagine they'd do something. In the meantime, though, there are plenty of game summaries out there, and we host the cutscenes for all the games on here.

 

Unless Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX has DDD in it or KH3 has a sort of "flashback" at the beginning people are going to be pretty confused since DDD pretty much set up the plot for KH3.

 

Just like DDD, KHIII will have a recap of all the games, including DDD. I mean if they don't, a lot of people who don't have a 3DS will be confused since the game is very important to the storyline.
