Here, you go...chapter 2 of Ability. As I said before, I'll post a different chapter each day, seeing as this thing is finished already. Thank you for reviews, they were very nice to read!^^Enjoy! Chapter 2: The Meeting on the Asphalt The lab was silent...I liked it that way. Elizabeth had stopped crying and had curled up in the corner about an hour ago, which was nice. Unfortunately for me, she was dreaming, sending little bits of thought floating across the room. I'd chosen to occupy the opposite corner, giving me a clear view of the sleeping captive. Why am I doing this? I asked myself, propping my chin up on my hands. How much trouble can one girl cause, anyway? It would be much easier for me to travel back to The World That Never Was without her...but, on the other hand, she knows too much about the Organization to stay here. As fun as it may sound, I figured that The Superior probably wouldn't be too thrilled about having to push a mob of reporters off Memory's Skyscraper. That left me with two options: take Elizabeth back with me, or kill her now and get it over with. The second option, although preferable, was off-limits due to the fact that murders generally don't go undetected...which, of course, left me with the first option. Travel with dark portals was easy enough, but I knew I wasn't going to be able to carry her with me for too long. I needed to factor in that, too. Should I open a portal here, or should I open it from somewhere else? Where would the exact destination be? It certainly wasn't in my best interest to drag her through the castle...so I would need to pass her off to somebody else as soon as I reached safety. My mind was made up, then. I would allow myself some rest, and we would leave the moment I woke up. I awoke some four hours later to the sound of papers being shuffled. Naturally, the sound was coming from Elizabeth, who had abandoned her corner for the desk in the center of the room. She tapped the pen she was holding against the desk, still staring off into space. I glared at her, but remembered my plan. "We have to go." I informed her, getting to my feet and shaking my hair out. "To where, Kenya? I don't think so." She went back to scribbling on her papers. "Home, idiot." "Home?" "Yes, home." There was a long pause in our conversation as she considered her options. "I'm not interested in going to...wherever. Try again next century." She scanned over what she had written before looking up at me. "Go away." "Nah." I said casually, jabbing my hands into my pockets. "I don't care what you want to do. You're coming with me." I grabbed a white lab coat off the hook on the wall and shrugged it on. Elizabeth snorted indignantly. "I hate you." "That's okay. I never said I wanted you to like me." I replied simply, creating a dark portal behind me. "Now get over here and don't make this difficult." Elizabeth jumped away from the desk (and me) as if it were some sort of toxic chemical. "I'd rather die." "I wish you would." I growled, grabbing her wrist and flinging her into the portal. I paused for a moment before stepping in myself. What am I getting myself into? I wondered, scanning the room to make sure there was nothing important being left behind. After assuring myself that everything was in order, I stepped through the darkness. "Aww dude!" A surfer-like drawl greeted me on the other side of the darkness. There was a girlish laugh, followed by a deeper one before the voice continued. "Never thought I'd see you in white...and look! You got yourself a giiirlfriend!" "Shut up, Xigbar." I said, looking around the dimly-lit streets. "Where's Elizabeth?" The silver and black haired man jabbed a black-gloved hand over his shoulder, pointing at the captive. Elizabeth seemed to have cheered up, and was now laughing insanely from the top of an electrical box. "Whoopsie, dude...maybe I shouldn't have let Lassie here get up there..." Elizabeth laughed again, looking every bit the deranged lunatic she most likely was. "You'll never get me alive!" We were joined by none other than the Melodious Nocturne himself then (he was more commonly known as the Annoying Nocturne to everyone outside the neophyte circle) who gave us all the pleasure of hearing a few chords from his sitar. When he spotted Elizabeth, he glared at Xigbar. "Xiggy, what did Xemmy tell you just last week about bringing random innocents into 'his dominion?'" Demyx said, doing his best to sound important. Xigbar rolled his eyes. "Yeah, dude...let 'Xemmy' hear you calling him that and burn in Axel-Hell. That n' it was Zexion's fault this time, not mine." Demyx's blue eyes widened as he turned to look at me. "Oh...so Zexy did it." It was my time to roll my eyes and brush him off as I made a vain attempt to pull Elizabeth from her perch. "Xemmy is going to kill you." "Butcher you." Xigbar added with a grin. "Or maybe even give you to me." We all turned in the direction of the voice, which came from Larxene. Despite being the only girl in the Organization, she had a reputation of being one of the sickest sadists we'd ever encountered. The blond allowed herself a small smirk before turning her killer gaze to me. "They're right. Xemnas has already heard of your arrival...and hers as well. He wants to see you up at the Alter." I shuddered, knowing that most conversations held on the rooftop Alter generally didn't end well. "As for you two, Roxas wants a sitar lesson and this ugly little human needs to have appropriate accommodations." "But...we don't have any extra rooms!" Xigbar pointed out, confused. "I wasn't talking about a room...talk to Saix. He'll know what to do." Before leaving, Larxene walked over to the electrical box and removed one of her gloves, placing her palm against it. Sparks shot everywhere, and there was injured yelp from Elizabeth as she landed on the asphalt in front of us. "Thanks." Xigbar said, grabbing Elizabeth's hands and forcing them behind her back. Elizabeth growled her protest, but Xigbar had already started marching her down the street in the direction of the castle. Demyx sighed and gave me an 'I feel sorry for you' look before stepping through a portal of his own creation, and I was left alone on the empty street. All in all, life as a lifeless corpse had just been drained of all security it once held. Whether I wanted to or not, I was going to end up talking with The Superior, so...it might as well be now.
