Aang and Zuko First Look: Live Action Avatar Movie

We take a first look at the movie's main characters (Noah Ringer as Aang and Dev Patel as Zuko) in recently released screenshots. A teaser trailer is expected to be released coinciding with Transformers 2 this June.

My opinion is that even though I really wish that they had casted more Asian people for the main line up, I think that Patel and Ringer look the part. From what I can tell, it turned out a lot better than I thought.

I'm just worried about Katara and Sokka's first look.

 

Patel's a really good choice. He was awesome in Slumdog Millionaire. Ringer looks too young, but we'll see how he does.

 

Oh man, I know! Why oh why are they white? I was at the auditions for this movie and was so confused why they were bringing in these white, blonde girls for Katara. Aren't they supposed to look Native American? That's the impression I got from the show. And I thought Zuko was supposed to be Asian?

 

Patel looks appropriate, but Ringer looks much too young. Not bad at all though. I wonder who'll play Sokka, he's the comic relief, but I hope he still gets to fight.

 

The nice thing about Sokka is that he's both comic relief and a fighter, which is so atypical of one of those types of characters. When a character is only there for comedy but fizzles out of the picture during the fighting, they are boring and predictable. That's one thing I like about the Avatar series. They don't make everything so stereotypical.

Sokka is being played by Jackson Rathbone, who played Jasper in Twilight and Nicholas in Beautiful People.

 

I really can't see Rathbone as Sokka. Also Ringer looks, way too young to be Aang, I don't really like Patel as Zuko either. Wow, I am full of criticism tonight.

Nicola Peltz is playing the role of Katara, I think that she looks the part, sort of.
