A sudden revalation

ok...so ive wanted to be a news board cast journlist for a few years now...but talking with my boyfriend ive realized...i want to be a Video Game Story/Character Designer....but i dont want to be the guy whos making the acutual game...like a programer


what should i do?

Oh, I'm accually in the perfect course for that, Games Design and Animation. Although it's very rare where I live, but if your in work already you should see if you can do that adult learning courses at a college/uni.

 

I think that being a news board cast journalist would be easy, but not fun. If you have a job that you enjoy, it's not a job anymore. What area of game production do you want to get into?

 

All I can say is do what's best for you.
If you want to make games, then I suggest you do it, or
would it make you a little manly.I think a Journalist
would be better.(well in my case)

 

Try to figure out what your strengths and weaknesses. If your bad at math, you shouldn't be a programmer becuase it involves alot of coding and numbers, etc.
I originally wanted to go into game design and write the story or whatever, but I realized that there wasn't the type of position I wanted, so I decided that I want to become an author because I'm pretty good at writing and I just need to gain the mastery of the language in order to become the sort of author I want.
So, just try to find what your good at, and if you enjoy what you're good at, then do it.

but i wanna be kinda like a Tetsuya Nomura where im the guy thinking up the storys and thinking up game ideas and such...not the guy thats actually making them

 

Umm... I think that'd be either the producer or the director. Or both.

Very few schools actually offer programs for game design. I know that there's a school in Texas and one in Maryland that offers game design classes, but I don't know of many others. actually, most of today's game legends stumbled into the business. They never took classes for making games.

Sorry i didn't reply sooner noise.I think that you should like a concept artist for games.You should do a course in a collage to do with programming computer games first.The second i finish i'm seeing if square enix has a post free on the mingdom hearts projects.Imagine it.
