"Who cares?" implies that it's more than a personal opinion.

I loved the first XIII. I haven't played the second one because I was broke when it came out and spoiled it for myself. I have a thing about waiting to play games I've spoiled.
The first one was beautiful, the battle system was very enjoyable, and the storyline was great. The characters....were annoying at first, but they changed (yay for character development!). I guess that I can see why people hated how linear it was and want to "explore" the world, but I loved the linearity. I'm a very casual gamer and I don't have the time to spend doing nothing significant in games. Games that have "extra" stuff to do that don't relate to the main story that could take days to finish and aren't sandbox-styled games just annoy me. I want to play a game, enjoy it, and get the story. FFXIII was beautiful enough that just by going in a straight line, I could enjoy the world around me. Then it had that one chapter with the vastness of Gran Pulse to explore without taking too much time away from the main story.

Square and other companies are still making more games -even if Square is dedicating some time to this series, they still have teams working on other games-, so I don't see why you have to wait for this compilation to end for you to play a fresh game.

That's the one thing that I'm worried about. The other compilations in FF usually had the main game centered around the protagonist and its sequels would usually be focused on other characters (Duodecim, FFIV...2 or whatever it's called, Crisis Core/Dirge of Cerberus/Before Crisis, FFX-2, Tactics ADvance and A2, etc.) and the main protagonist would take a back seat, but XIII-2, from what I read, still has Lightning in center of it (arguably in a more important role than the protagonists). I hated Lightning for the first half of XIII until she finally got that broom out her ass, but I would love for this compilation (assuming it continues past a XIII-3) to expand on things away from Lightning (Hope and Snow, maybe? A prequel with Fang and Vanille during the War of Trangression? A glimpse at Sazh during his pilot days? A spin-off focused on Cid Raines? A prequel with Etro, Lindzei, and Pulse actually making physical appearances? The first l'Cie ever? There are plenty of things that I would love to see). But at least Lightning is no longer focused on beating the **** out of Snow, I guess.
Why not a woman orgasm? Those definitely seem more fun.
The internet is there for you, my friend. As is Gamestop.

the only positive thing i could possibly think could come from making more installments in xiii is for square to see what the people want and will accept in a main game at this point, though theres no reason they shouldnt know that already.

Really? I heard it's the worse final Fantasy of them all. -That's what I've been hearing.
I love that game, but I keep hearing bad critizism about it.

i mean out of the final fantasy games ive played it's the worst (ffxii and x) but it's definitely not a terrible RPG. actually pretty good in that sense. i just hated how linear it was where everything was a set path and the game didnt really get good until WAY down the line. i didnt even finish it:/ the mechanics are good, story is aiight, and the graphics are really good!

I didn't mean "Who cares?" literally. All I was trying to do was express my lack of excitement and enthusiasm over the announcement.

~spoilers for ladies and gents yet to complete XIII~

Trust me, you don't need to tell me how great XIII is. I love it, and it's one of my favorite games in the series. The thing that bugs me the most is I always felt the sequels were unnecessary. I loved XIII's ending, in fact I think it's perfect. It was the end of the adventure, and thanks to Fang and Vanille sacrificing themselves, there was peace and balance again. Snow and Serah (and Lightning) were reunited, as were Sazh and Dajh. I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me shed a few tears. It was grand... Then they announce that there'd be a XIII-2, and that ending lost much of its meaning to me. That's why I'm even more upset by there being a XIII-3. Not to mention postponing Versus, thus postponing KH3 from even being started.

You say that, and I understand, but this is Final Fantasy. It is Square's flagship title, their main event. No developer can offer what Square does with Final Fantasy. These games used to be made with great passion and care. It doesn't feel like that to me anymore, not with XIII-2. That's why I'm scared for XIII-3. I still have hope left in Square, but it's dwindling fast.

    ...Figure it out, then.
You're saying it's the worst of the three games you've played?

when you are related to a dude who works for this company you tend to stop begging for details after a while and go with the flow.

    Possible spoilers ahead

I like the sequel personally, specially since XIII did a horrible (I still love the game) job of expanding on the mythos that was plaguing their existence (Etro and Chaos, Gods, The past in Gran Pulse which plays a MAJOR part in XIII-2). Fal'Cie are now small fry and the stakes are higher.

XIII was never fully stand-alone, if you know where to look. In the grand scheme of things, saving Cocoon was just warm-up. The heroes had to face a world falling into Chaos and a goddess that was fading away.

The biggest problem (I think) for Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 is cohesion and exposition. Storytelling issues. We get logs upon logs and then you add time travel and it all turns confusing.

I still have so many questions about the story overall. Lots of details I'm still confused on.

    Gaming is dead
Thank god sales have been running into the ground for the last year for the game industry. Best case scenario we get another crash and start from the beginning.
