No Thanks A rep Idea

I know by the title everyone thinks its another thread about someone conplaining about rep, but this one isn't.
My thought is that staff members can give out rep points to people who have been using the site properly, like for exsample if someone hasn't made spam or a post in the wrong place they can be awarded with rep from the staff.
I know this is pritty pointless but think about it, if you were a new member and was trying very hard to place posts right and not spam in the wrong section and then you got some rep from the staff for it wouldn't you feel good about yourself for it and therefore be less likely to do something wrong on the site at all.
You know I'm right, whats your thoughts?

Eh, sure that would help to get the new person's hopes/spirits/whatever you want to call it up but I don't really think it would out too well. It just seems like it would be a lot of work and some people would probably complain saying things like "I've done everyting PERFECT why haven't I gotten rep?!" etc. It's a good idea, but I just don't think it would work out.

 

Do you realize how much rep we'd have to give out?

Dozens and dozens of people use the site correctly, and to pick them out individually and rep each and every one of them would take more time than it's worth.

It's a nice idea in theory but I just can't see how this could ever happen.

 

It's not like it takes much effort or time.
A few seconds, tops.

Then again, the cumulative amount of time is a different story.


I see what you're getting at, Docyx, but I don't think it'd have that much effect to be honest.
And while giving someone rep may not take much effort, it would take effort to look at who's doing things right.
And not to mention the large list of what is "right." Simply posting a thread in a section would be right.
The best thing to do is just give people rep when you think they deserve it, whether you're staff or not.

 

That's really what I was addressing, it seems to me like he wants us to rep every new member that does things right.

Rep is something members give to each other and we don't, as staff, want to use rep in such a manner. It could be considered favoritism and last thing I'd want is for people to feel that they were skipped etc, because there are many members on the boards. Sorry, but this one can't happen.
