As you can see, the Robe of the Firerat fits him perfectly in both images. however, the anime (and maybe the manga) says that theres only one of them. so I ask you KHV: HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!?!?!? that is all.

I can't say I know everything about Inuyasha, but the robe of the Firerat may possibly grow along with him. I mean, we know as early as the first couple of episodes that it can pretty much protect against someone's stabs (in certain cases), so it's fully possible the magic in it/on it could allow it to grow with him too.

It's magic. Given that the demons in the series can regenerate at will in many cases, something as rare as the Fire Rat likely has the same properties (which would also explain why after it's damaged it becomes whole again).
I mean, Tetsusaiga can go from being a rusty piece of junk to the full form in seconds in InuYasha's hands because of the demon power, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is the case.

Also story convenience, but yeah. I think it's one of the things we're not meant to think about too hard, lol.

I had always wondered about that, It's most likely a plot convinience, or it's just one of those things which doesn't translate too well from the fiction to the real world, willing suspension of disbelief is necessary. Like Kagome's arrows ending only when the plot demands, yet you only see she has like three arrows.

It's a magic. As he grows, so does the robe.

However, this is anime, so you have to also remember that things don't have to make sense in anime.

Yes, it protects against attack, but, for all we know, the developers could have just drawn it bigger without having a reason as to how it's the same one.
