A Knights Tale

yume chuckled at his remark.
"knightly vows? since when are you a knight?"
she looked back down and set her hands in her lap before speaking again.
"what do you have against my father anyways?"

 

Seto sighed. "It's a long story. I was a knight for your family long ago, believe it or not. I served your father. But... let's just say there was an incident that I can never forgive your father for. I was betrayed by your father, your family, the knights, and all the people in the town. Now I'm on my own."

 

yume felt pain at the imagine of her father doing anything mean to anyone.
"you...you don't look much older than i. you'd think i would remember you..."
she sighed.
how horrible, i shouldn't have asked.

 

Seto looked at her. He sighed. "You should get some rest. I'm sending my hawk to deliver a note to your father telling him of the situation."

 

yume felt bad for prying so she did as he said.
with one slow nod in his direction she laid down on the bed.
it's a lot softer than it looks...
it didn't take long before she had dosed off.

 

Seto smiled as he saw her fall asleep. Hard to believe she is of them. Seto called his hawk and tied a note to his leg. "Fly now." He whispered to the bird. The hawk went soaring toward the castle.

 

Eva looked back in the bedroom, her eyes sparkling from the forest air. "Awake, are you?"

 

James was now paceing his son and daughter were both missing, they were no where to be found. "Where are you two?" said James, "Felix...your dead when you get back...Yume...i hope your safe." James looked out a window and saw a hawk.

"yea I am." said Felix rubbing the back of his head and looking at his hand, there was very little blood on it.

 

yume tossed and turned in her sleep as the nightmare started.

wh-where am i?
she could see herself running down a dark forest completely lost.
"hello? is anyone there?"
her question was met by the sound of an owl hooting.
it startled her and she ran behind a tree.
the sound a twig snapped behind her.
"g-go away! i'm armed so don't come near me."
she lifted up the bottom of her dress to pull two daggers out of a band of fabric wrapped around her thigh.
yume jumped when the sight of a man walking towards her came into view.
"wh-who are you?!"
she stood there frozen with fear until she saw who was coming her way.​

yume moaned in her sleep out of fright and a hint of sweat could be seen on her forehead.

 

Eva hesitantly took a step toward him. "Can I take a look?"

 

"uh...i guess." said Felix.

 

Seto heard the girl's moans in her sleep. He sat on a bed close to hers and put a wet cloth on her forehead to wipe away the sweat. Poor child.

 

Eva walked over to him, and gently touched the cut. "It must hurt...but you'll be okay."

 

the man reached out to her.
"it's all right. i'm just here to help you find your way."
yume stared at the man.
his face and voice seemed so familiar but she couldn't put a name to him.
she backed away hesitantly, not sure if he was really trustworthy.
"st-stay away."
she held out one of her daggers in his direction.
he stepped closer.
"i-i'm warning you."
the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her into a hugging form of embrace.
he held her close.
"it's all right. all you have to do is wake up."
she stared at him confused.
"w-wake up? what do you mean?"​

yume's eyes shot open.
she reached up to her forehead and felt the cloth.
feeling a little disoriented she closed her eyes for a breif moment and then opened them again, suprised to see someone sitting next to her.
"having you been waiting for me to awaken long?"

 

"Not long. It's still dark out. You were having a nightmare, weren't you." Seto handed her a cup of cool water.

 

"it would be there if you wouldn't have hit me." said Felix, putting his back towards her.

 

Eva sighed, backing away. "I'm sorry. I have to go soon, to explain to the leader why you disappeared. You can stay or go."

 

she took the cup rather quickly.
"of course not. i don't have 'nightmares.'"
yume knew it wuz obvious that she was lying but she felt silly being catered to by a stranger.

 

Seto looked at her with a concerned look. "You bad at lying, you know that." He rolled over on his bed. "I'm gonna crash for the night." He fell asleep rather peacefully.

"uh...I'll stay for a while since I'm haveing problems moveing right now." said Felix.
