A Kingdom Hearts Story --- After KH2!! "THE ADDICTION"

Well, I actually managed to finish chapter 18. I was halfway through an episode of Naruto when I remembered my promise lol. So I said goodbye to ninjas and I finished woooo! Tell me what you think. Again, its not really very eventful, sorry.

Chapter 18​

“Riku!†Clara squealed when she entered the room. She rapidly crossed to the bed where Riku’s figure lay. Laughing, she gently shook the silver haired boy on the shoulders. To Kairi’s dismay Clara was unaware of Riku’s situation and continued to shake him.

“Wake up, you lazy bum!†she laughed. Kairi had a weird feeling of deja vu.

Clara suddenly turned to Kairi, humour in her eyes.

“Gosh, he’s a deep sleeper alright!†Kairi pulled what she thought was a squirming face but what Clara thought was a face of laughter.

“…Erm…â€

“Wow!†Clara carried on bubbly. “Silver hair! That’s awesome! One day I am so going to take him to a hairdresser!â€

“Clara…†Kairi tried to interrupt. Clara was having none of it and started parading round the room, making a lot of noise.

“Clara!†Kairi hissed, suddenly angry. “Stop it! You’re making enough noise to wake the…†Kairi froze. What she had been about to say whirred through her mind.

Dead. Dead. Wake the Dead. Enough noise to wake… the dead.

Suddenly the room seemed to spin. The wooden floor suddenly seemed much closer and a huge weight seemed to fall on Kairi’s heart. The heavy burden dragged her to the floor and she fell unsteadily to her knees. Closing her eyes, Riku’s last words echoed in her mind. She knew without a doubt that they would haunt her forever.

Riku gulped, forcing oxygen into his battered lungs. Already his face was deathly pale. There wasn’t much time left for him on this world.

He opened his mouth, trying to form words through the pain. He looked like a fish out of water, his mouth opening and closing almost comically. It would have been hilarious if it wasn’t so tragic.

Kairi cradled him. “It’s okay. Take your time. You- You’ve got all the time in the world.†she lied to him.

Riku tried desperately to smile but his face was so contorted with agony nothing happened.

Finally he managed to speak. “T-T-Th-Thankyou.†he gasped. “T-T-Thankyou for freeing me.â€

“Oh Riku.†she cried, more tears gently dropping onto his chest. They rolled into the wound over his heart. It was a miracle he was still alive.

They sat in silence, Riku’s life slowly slipping away. Kairi tried in vain to think of something to say. Comforting last words. But nothing came. All she could feel was a big part of her life being torn away.

Blue eyes stared quietly up at her. All the red evilness had gone. The innocence of blue was all that was left.

Riku’s breathing became more ragged. Through the hole in his chest Kairi could see his heart struggling to keep beating. The grip on her hand was getting looser.

“Riku…â€

He looked her in the eyes. “Suh-Suh-†he stuttered.

“What is it?†she wept. “Don’t hurry. There’s plenty of time.†But both he and she knew that was a bare-faced lie.

“Suh-Suh-Sorry for wha-what I-I-I did to you, K-Kairi.†he stammered. Suddenly his grip was loose, and his eyes rolled up to the heavens.

“Suh-Suh-Suh…†he said, and those were his last words befor-

“Kairi! Kairi! KAIRI!â€

Kairi’s eyes snapped open and she jolted back to the real world. Clara stood over her, concerned eyes wide. Kairi gasped for breath and sat up awkwardly.

“Are you…†Clara started, but Kairi firmly held up her hand to stop her.

“Riku…†she began. “Riku… he’s… not asleep, Clara.â€

Clara frowned. In her mind Riku was clearly asleep. Nothing could clear the haze of certainty she had about that.

“What are you on about, Kairi?†she said, giving Kairi an odd look.

Kairi bowed her head to the ground. “He.. Isn’t with us anymore.â€

Clara tipped Kairi’s head back up. “Seriously, what are you on? He’s fine!â€

“Go check. Lift off the bedcovers.â€

“What? I can’t, he isn’t wearing anything! And he’ll be annoyed!â€

“Oh Clara. Just do it. Please save me this.â€

Kairi felt a terrible sadness whenever she thought of telling Clara the truth. Not only would it hurt Clara, but to actually voice the truth would break her heart all over again.

Clara walked over to the bed, her face creased up. Suddenly her hands shook and she gingerly pulled back the duvet.

She would have gasped, except all the breath escaped her body when she saw the sight below. If the sight of blood wasn’t bad enough, there was Riku’s ghostly pale body to see and his hands curled up eerily. At least his eyes were shut; that was one small mercy.

“Oh…†she mumbled, a single tear trickling down her cheeks. “Oh Kairi.â€

She began to shake her head furiously over and over. “Im so, so sorry. I… Oh…â€

She rushed over to her friend and hugged her tightly. Kairi forced herself not to cry. She had cried enough. Screwing up her eyes she refused to let tears escape. Clara only held her tighter which made it worse.

“I…†Kairi said in a horribly croaky voice. “The worse is… I…â€

Clara brushed away her tears. “Go on…â€

“The worse is… I don’t know how I’m going to tell Sora…â€

“It’s okay, Kairi. I’ll deal with him.â€

Kairi looked up, a tiny glimmer of hope in her eyes. “Really? You’d do that?â€

Clara smiled. “Of course I would.â€

That was the final straw. Held back tears now burst from Kairi’s eyes and danced onto the floorboards, a dozen tiny crystals splattered on the wood.

Wakka revolved in the water in horror as the girls screamed. Treading water beside him was Tidus, deathly pale in the sea of black. Searching the waves, Wakka could no longer see the intimidating shape of the shark.

“HELP!!!†Selphie yelled so loud it could burst an eardrum.

Shell began to squirm. “I’m too young to die!â€

“We’re not going to die!†Tidus yelled back, but through the water Wakka saw his friends hands shaking with fear. In a move that would have had him taken the mick out of before, Wakka put a comforting hand on Tidus’ arm.

“It’s coming!†Shell suddenly squealed and shut her eyes. Indeed the horrid black figure in the water was clearly approaching. Even worse, Wakka noted, it had been joined by three others.

Suddenly the water splashed terrifically around them and the animal rose mightily out of the water. Shell grabbed Tidus and a terrified Selphie just lay flat on the remains of the boat. Wakka half closed his eyes, not wanting to meet death in the eye.

“SHARK!†Selphie screamed. Her voice tore through the air. “SHARK! SHARK! SHAR-!?â€

She froze in mid-word when she realised what was really happening.

“-Dolphin?â€

The others yanked their heads up sharply. Indeed, the shape almost flying through the sky above was a dolphin. The scary dorsal fin of the “shark†was actually the graceful fin of a dolphin.

Shell’s high pitched screams changed to yells of joy. Her favourite animal was the dolphin. Her heart soared as she saw the creature fly across the open blue. The tears about to form in her eyes instantly disappeared and when the dolphin hit the water again she turned to Tidus with joy.

“Did you see!?†she said, her eyes filled with wonder. Tidus held her arms, his eyes now carefree. Dolphins meant safety.

“What do they want with us?†Selphie said apprehensively.

“I think…†Wakka said. “I think they want to help us..â€

Tidus snorted. “Don’t be stupid. This isn’t a film. As if something that corny could happen.â€

Shell shrugged but then nodded. “He is right. I know dolphins are friendly, but it’s never going to happen. It’s not like we’re in a story or anything.â€

But the two were left gob smacked when a watery fin emerged from the water in front of Wakka. Wakka smirked and firmly held onto it.

“We’ll see.†he said. To the surprise of the others he began to move away. Wakka moved his hand up to salute in farewell.

“What the-†Tidus said in disbelief. To his annoyance dolphins appeared in front of the two girls and offered them lifts. Nobody helped him.

Frowning he watched the others move away rapidly towards the mainland. Finally, after a couple of minutes, his own helper appeared. It offered him a lift, after spraying a large amount of water in his face.

Tidus was about to complain but then reasoned that if he did he might get a slap with a fin. Holding on tightly, his breath was swept away as the dolphin rocketed off to catch up with the others.

Kairi sat perched on the edge of the bed, dozens of tissues screwed up next to her. Her attempt at not crying had failed miserably and every time she thought of anything it would always circle back to the same thing; her friend’s death. Tears had gone now, though, as there were none left. Through swollen and puffy eyes Kairi stared numbly at the door, anticipating Sora’s return.

Clara had taken him in to see Riku a while ago. Sora had been confused when he had woken up, and had barely been able to stand. His wounds were so painful Clara had had to support him on the way out.

Sighing, Kairi lay back on the bed. But she jolted back up once more when the door creaked open.

“Sora?â€

His pitiful figure shuffled in. Kairi choked on dry tears. She ran forward and hugged him so tightly he couldn’t breathe. She waited for him to embrace her in return. Finally he did, his weak hands clutching her back. Kairi shut her eyes, hoping to forget about the present, and just feel Sora. To her surprise, Sora wasn’t crying. He was… just… gone.

“Speak to me.†Kairi hushed in his ear. Sora didn’t reply. He had no will to. Kairi gently escorted him to the bed and let him lie down. He didn’t fall asleep, just lay looking into space. Sighing, Kairi left him and went out to see Clara.

“How is he?†Clara asked as soon as Kairi closed the door.

“He’s taken it badly.†Kairi said sadly.

“They were best friends?â€

“Yeah.â€

Clara walked with Kairi down the long corridor. It was a complete mess, like the rest of the house. The fight, along with the party first, had completely wrecked it. For the first time, Kairi wondered about Clara’s parents. Where were they? Who were they? Did she even have parents?

“Clara?†Kairi began.. “Your parents. Are they..-â€

“MY PARENTS!†Clara screamed suddenly. “I’d forgotten all about them! They’re on vacation! They left me alone! They’ll be home like… tomorrow!â€

Kairi’s jaw dropped. She imagined the look on Clara’s parents’ face when they saw their beautiful house.

“Erm, actually…†Kairi said nervously. “They’ll be home today.â€

“WHAT?†Clara shrieked. Kairi showed Clara her watch. It was five past midnight. Time had gone unnoticed recently.

Clara groaned and face palmed. Kairi struggled to think of something to say.

“Right, all we have to do is clean up? And… get… rid of the body.†Kairi said shakily. Clara nodded. Kairi’s hand dived into her pocket and brought out her mobile.

“I’m ringing the others. I’ll get them here a.s.a.p.â€

Clara nodded and relaxed. “Thanks.â€

“We can all help clean up. And… I think the boys can take the… erm.. Body.†Kairi still squirmed to say ‘body’.

Kairi hastily began bashing Selphie’s number into her phone.

Wakka, Tidus, Shell and Selphie walked briskly up the hill. They had reached the mainland safely, and were now making quick progress. The gibbous moon had risen a while ago; its rays lit the land before them. Shell and Tidus were holding hands. Selphie was too agitated to do the same for Wakka.

Suddenly there was a loud ringing sound that made everybody jump. To Tidus’ surprise it was Selphie’s mobile.

“It’s still working!? He said incredulously. Selphie fished the ringing object out of her bag and held it up smartly.

“Only the best for me,†she winked, indicating the waterproof cover, “ooh, it’s Kairi!â€

“Answer it then, man!†Wakka said, rolling his eyes. They had come to a stop on the path.

“Hi, Kairi!†Selphie said brightly. However in her mind she thought she still had to tell Kairi bad news. “Listen, were on the way back to Clara’s…. No, I…. I have bad news, we couldn’t find any…. You know? How? Oh…. Oh Kairi, I’m sorry. How is he? Riku… is he……? He’s okay now? That’s good. We’ll be there soon.â€

She did a thumbs up to the others. They all smiled at Selphie’s spunky attitude.

“You need us for what?†Selphie said suddenly into the receiver. Her eyes rolled. “Okay sure. We’ll see you in a sec. Bye! Kiss kiss!â€

She put the phone back into her pocket.

“Kiss kiss?†Tidus said, raising an eyebrow.

“What?†said Selphie sheepishly. “That’s how me and Kairi always end our conversations.†she twirled her hair in her fingers. Tidus laughed.

“Atleast Riku is okay.†Wakka said happily. “They must have found a way. Now everything will bnormal.â€

Inside Selphie felt uncertain, but she bit her lip. She knew Kairi was hiding something. Her friend’s voice wasn’t like it was usually.

“So what did Kairi ask at the end?†Shell said, leaning towards Selphie. Selphie jerked back to reality.

“She wants us to clean up.†Selphie said. The boys groaned loudly. Shell laughed.

“That’s fine. Besides, it would be harsh to just ditch Clara with a house full of rubbish.â€

“Hmmm. Yeah, I suppose.†Tidus mumbled. “Imagine what her parents would think!?â€

Wakka frowned. “Does she even have parents? We’ve never heard about them. They weren’t at the ball.â€

“Oh, she definitely has some, I think,†Selphie said, “they’re just a bit… enigmatic.â€

“Uh huh.†Shell agreed. They set off walking again, this time with a more leisurely pace. After all, all there was to do at Clara’s was clean. Right?

*Sobsob* So sad! And now everyone is going to find out the truth when they see Riku. And poor Sora...poor Kairi. Why'd she have to kill him!?! Why does this fanfic have to be so addicting!?! Like I said, Riku better not be gone forever or I'll be very very sad.

 

stil a nice chapter but as you said a not really very eventful
hope that the next update will be eventful

i played KH2 3 times this day, i run to many miles rond the house and i'm soaked to the bone because it rained like hell, but gotta go kick some heartless how take my stuff

I must admit, that was a really good update, even if it was uneventful.

Good job. The tiny grammar mistakes are still there, but they're nothing to stress over.

Welcome, daisydog2. Glad you like my story. I'm halfway through writing chapter 19 right now, infact im going to try and finish it today at some point. Probz post it tonight.
