Hey everyone

Ive got good news and bad news...

Good news - I finally beat Seymour (yeah like anyone cares about that except me lol)

Bad news - I spent all my time on ffX and so didn't finish writing chapter 17. I only got half way, so it won't be up tonight. It's highly unlikely it'll be up tomorrow as I have dancing and I have to pack for London. Thursday and Friday I am away. So... it looks like you'll have to wait a bit, people. Sorry.

Current Mood - I have a cold and bad earache. *Note to self* - buy more tissues!

Yeah it did. and when Kairi was talking to Riku, I could really picture it. his plae skin, blank cold eyes, and him deing.

Okay, stuff what I said above ^^. I was too ill to dance, and I had nothing better to do (except pack for tomorrow) so I just finished writing this chapter.

It's sort of a filler, so sorry for the lack of action, folks.

Chapter 17​

Wakka stroked steadily through the icy water. Compared to the air above, the sea water was calm and quiet. The deeper he got, the less the current forced him in the wrong direction. It was oddly relaxing down here in the depths.

Frantically Wakka looked for the bright yellow dress of Selphie’s. His eyes were wide open and searching; he didn’t care for the salty water that stung his eyes.

Suddenly he spotted a bright yellow gleam from the corner of his eyes and turned sharply. But to his dismay it was many metres away, and certainly not close enough for him to reach it in one breath. That was guessing that the yellow blob actually WAS Selphie.


Shooting for the surface, Wakka took a gigantic breath in and dived back under. His blitzball skills had taught him to hold his breath for a long time, but it was no longer blitzball season and so he was out of practice.

Selphie, he thought, please be okay…He reached the yellow blob and discovered it was indeed Selphie’s limp form. Turning her over, he gasped and lost precious air bubbles at the sight of her pale, unresponsive face. He shook her lightly, but she didn’t stir. It was too far to the surface for her to survive. He had to somehow revive her down here.

Holding her in his arms, he clamped her nose shut and put his mouth over hers and breathed out. Somehow, impossibly, it worked. Air was forced into Selphie and her body shuddered. She coughed and bubbles exploded all around.

Selphie opened her eyes weakly to see Wakka’s caring brown eyes staring into hers. They were so compassionate that for a moment she didn’t realise they were underwater.

Of course, she thought when she realised, the boat and the storm.

“Wakka…†she mouthed. He smiled weakly and gripped her waist tightly and began to kick upwards. But she saw that he was struggling and gestured to him that she could help herself. He let go of her gently and she used her borrowed oxygen to give her energy to kick to the surface.

Wakka held Selphie’s hand as they reached the strong current. Neither of them was strong enough to get through it alone, but together they might just do it. Wakka closed his eyes as he pushed through, but the soft touch of Selphie’s hand told him she was still there.

Just as the last bubble broke from his mouth Wakka broke the surface. Gasping for air, he pulled Selphie up. She spluttered like a fish, grabbing for his arm. He gave her support and they bobbed up and down. Wakka was relieved to see the storm had all but passed and the waves were just slightly threatening now.

“Selphie… You okay?†he asked her gently.

She nodded. “Just dizzy.†she looked him in the eyes. “Thanks.â€

He embraced her in the water. “That’s fine.â€

She shook her head violently to make the cold water on her hair fly in his face. She poked out her tongue teasingly.

“C’mon,†said Wakka, trying to be serious, “we have to find the others.â€

“Yeah… Any sign?â€

They looked around in anguish.

“Guess not.†said Wakka, looking but just seeing blue all around.

“Better start swimming, then.†Selphie said hopelessly. They linked arms and set off across the vast blue.

“Uhhhh!!!?â€


“Uhhhhhhhhh!!!â€

Clara shot up when somebody threw water on her for the third time. “What the…!â€

As the room came into focus, she realised she was still lying on the bathroom floor. Her head felt like somebody had hit it with a sledgehammer. When her eyes cleared she noticed Kairi was the one who had woken her up. Clara was too weary to notice the tears in her friends eyes.

“Kairi? What did you do with Riku? How is he?â€

Kairi gave an odd sniff.

“He’s fine now.†she muttered quietly.

Clara looked around. “So he’s cured?!†she said happily. Kairi didn’t reply, but she assumed her friend was tending to her wounds.

“That’s so great…†Clara mumbled, and went to collapse again on the floor.

“No!†Kairi said sharply and pulled her up again. “I need your help with Sora!â€

“Uhh? Oh, yeah. Of course.†Clara tried to get up, but immediately fell down again. She had absolutely no energy whatsoever. Kairi realised she would have to rely on her last reserves of adrenaline to help Sora.

Leaving Clara fast asleep, Kairi scuttled across the slippery floor and out of the door. She had cleaned up all the mess of her and Riku’s fight. Riku’s body she had… well, she didn’t want to think of it again, for fear she would burst into tears.

She stopped outside the door where Sora was, not daring to walk in. Kairi was scared of what she would find. When they were fighting earlier she had seen the extent of Sora’s injuries, and now she was scared he would be… well…. Dead.

Opening the door slowly, Kairi averted her eyes. Finally she plucked up the courage to look at Sora. Then she quickly wished she hadn’t. His body was sprawled across the carpet, a bloody mess. He looked like a corpse. Kairi could barely bring herself to look at him, but she was so full of concern that she couldn’t help but rush to his side.

His face was buried in the carpet. She rolled him over quickly and grasped at his wrist to feel for a pulse. Nothing through his icy skin. Moving her hands across his chest she felt for a heartbeat. But it was difficult to separate his from her own as hers was so strong and pounding. Hurriedly she knelt further down and put an ear to his t-shirt. Finally she let out an enormous breath of relief when she heard a gentle pitter-patter. It was weak, so weak, but the beat was definitely there.

Wiping sweat from her forehead, Kairi checked Sora’s breathing. It was there, but it was almost nonexistent. Frowning, she surveyed the injury to his hip. The bone jutted out from between the jagged pink flesh. Dry blood caked the edges, but no more came out. The broken veins had healed at the ends. Kairi flinched as she thought of how painful it must have been.

“Hang on in there, Sora.†she said, and ran downstairs to get Clara’s house phone.

Selphie was beginning to struggle. She was good at swimming, but she didn’t have the resilience of Wakka. He was powering ahead while she lagged behind.

“Selphie?†he said, swivelling around. “You okay there??â€

She nodded, saving the energy she would have used for talking.

He swam back to where she was and held her arm gently. “You sure?†he said.

“Huh?!†she said surprised.

“I said, are you sure?†he said, wondering how she could have possibly not understood.

“No, look. Tidus!â€

“Wha-?†Wakka whipped his head around and was surprised to see his best mate drifting in the waters about ten metres away. A bedraggled looking Shell lay next to him. They were floating on a piece of broad wood.

“Tidus!!!†Selphie screamed. Tidus’ head shot up like a bullet. The boy on the drifting bit of wood shook his girlfriends hand so violently that she fell into the water. She resurfaced, kicking and glaring at Tidus.

Tidus just smiled and waved at Selphie and Wakka. Dropping his hands into the water, Tidus paddled towards the other two. Shell scowled at him and swum behind.

“What happened to the boat?†Wakka asked, baffled.

“Erm…†Shell said, looking at Tidus. Tidus motioned reluctantly to the board of wood they were floating on.

“This is what’s left…†he said sadly. They all looked at each other grimly. Then suddenly Selphie burst into hysterical laughter.

“Sorry!†she said, wiping tears from her eyes. “It’s just so damn funny!â€

Wakka looked at her oddly. “Are you sure you’re okay?â€

Selphie giggled, rocking back and forth in Wakka’s arms. She was laughing too hard to support herself in the water.

“What the heck?†said Tidus quietly. Suddenly Shell started to laugh too.

“We’re doomed!†she laughed, holding onto Tidus. The boys looked at them oddly. Perhaps they would never understand the female mind.

“We’ve lost our boat!†Selphie said, spitting because she was laughing so hard. “It’s ridiculous!â€

Shell slipped under the water as she rolled off the plank of wood.

“Oooh!†she giggled and bubbles burst around her as she submerged.

“Oh man, what the hell is wrong with yo-†Wakka started to say, but stopped when he saw that Tidus had also started to laugh quietly. “Oh man! You too, brudder?â€

“Sorry, man!†Tidus said. “….But it’s just so damn funny!â€

The two girls and Tidus were in hysterics. Wakka wasn’t sure what was so funny, but soon he was giggling as well. The laughter of the others was spreading to him. He bit his tongue, trying not to laugh too loudly. If the others had any more encouragement they would probably explode.

Soon all four of the teenagers were laughing like there was no tomorrow, forgetting for just one blissful moment that they were stranded out to sea, with no boat, no help and no way of getting home.

“Hi Selphie. It’s me, Kairi. I don’t know where you are right now, but please get down to Clara’s house as fast as you can. Something terrible has happened, and I need your help. I can’t do everything by myself. Erm.. I’ll see you soon then, hopefully. Thanks. Bye then.â€

Kairi put down the phone quietly. To her dismay, none of her friends had answered their phones. Guess I’ll just have to do my best by myself, Kairi thought. Rummaging through Clara’s drawers, she looked for first aid equipment, and quickly spotted a dark green box. Pulling it out, she also found bandages and more anti sceptic behind it.

Luckily for her, Kairi had gone to medicinal classes and first aid lessons a few years ago. She was sure that she could patch Clara up easily, but she was concerned about Sora’s wellbeing. She didn’t know a lot about broken bones, just that Sora’s might be too difficult to deal with.

Stumbling back upstairs, she examined Sora carefully. As gently as she could, she lifted up his broken hip and tried to slide it back in place. The bone jammed and wouldn’t move.

“Damn.†she whispered and tried again. This time it popped back in place. Blood leaked out from the side of the wound. Kairi mopped it up and spread anti sceptic all around the cuts. Carefully she applied dressing and taped it in place. Next she would have to wrap a bandage around the whole of Sora’s body. Being careful not to bash Sora’s limp form about, she slid Sora’s shirt off over his head . At any other time she would have paused to admire his muscles, but right now that was the last thing on his mind. She unravelled the bandage around him and secured it in place.

Next she attended to all his other wounds. Many cuts and slashes were scattered all over him. Kairi wiped away all the blood and put plasters over the cuts that were the worst.

Finally she stepped back to look at her work. Sora was patched up, but it was poorly done. Still, hopefully it would be enough. Kairi leant forward and wiped Sora’s forehead free of sweat. Then she swept back his hair. His face looked so hurt. Kairi stopped a tear that had begun to creep down her cheek.

Suddenly Kairi jumped out of her skin when a voice spoke behind her.

“Hey.â€

“Who’s that!?†Kairi screamed, turning around. To her alarm nobody was there.

“Just me,†the voice said. Kairi had pity on it because it sounded so weak.

Kairi relaxed when the battered form of Clara crept around the doorway. Somehow Clara had managed to get up. Kairi rushed to her side to support her, but Clara refused.

“I’m fine.†she said, shaking her head. She pointed to Sora. “How’s he doing?â€

“He’ll be okay.†Kairi nodded. Inside she wasn’t so confident, but she didn’t want it to show.

“So…?†Clara said expectantly.

“Yeah?â€

“So… Where’s Riku then? Why isn’t he here? I want to meet the real him!â€

Kairi’s facial expression froze but she stayed smiling. “Next room. He’s…. asleep.â€

Clara nodded. “Then I’m going to wake him. I want to meet the cured Riku!â€

She rushed out of the door. Sighing, Kairi followed, but not before taking a good look at Sora to check that he was fine.

“Selphie?â€

“Uhuh?†Selphie answered, barely bothering to lift her head from the plank of wood they were still drifting on. The time of laughter had gone; now it was the time of solemnity.

“Do you think you’ll ever get married?†Shell asked.

Selphie thought blissfully about marriage. She pictured herself in a stunning white dress, with a huge bouquet of pink flowers in her arms, and a handsome husband at her side. With a sudden shock she realised the husband she pictured wasn’t like Wakka at all. Quickly she shook all thoughts of mage out of her mind.

“Mmm. Yeah.†she said and closed her eyes again. For a while it had been horrible just drifting among the waves but now it was oddly soothing.

“Girls wake up!†Tidus said suddenly in an alarmed tone. Selphie shot up and looked about. The others all did the same.

With horror, the group looked about to see an unmistakable image in the waters around them.

A black fin was emerging from the waters.

“Oh…†Shell said to herself. Wakka covered his mouth.

Tidus told the group what they already undoubtedly knew.

“Shark!†he hissed, and the real terror began to sink in.

Which reminds me, thanks everybody for the get well messages... i feel better already even tho my head feels like its been hit by a bus. bleurgh.

Hey Im back

I would have started writing by now.. but im seriously frozen for ideas
even going to the theatre didn't give me any inspiration.

For now Im gonna try and brainstorm.. if i can think of anything.

I REALLY dont want the story to end just yet.. so i need some innovating ideas XD

Yeah my holiday ( or vacation as you say) was good thanks, i went to the london theatre to see mama mia and dirty dancing lol which was great.
Im starting to think of some good ideas.. Ill think Ill start writing today, but it would be nice to hear some of yours ^_^
