I do find it pretty amusing that there's blood in the story but not in the actual games. But I kind of like it for some reason. No, I'm not into gory things, but it kind of just fits with the story. Would I ever put blood in my fanfic? No, but it works here =)

*pokes my fanfic, hoping to grip readers into the story*

    Chapter 11

A young Tidus sat on a soft red carpet, pushing a toy train back and forth. He hummed a tune and surveyed the room with his six year old eyes. His short spiky hair was soaked due to him just being outside in the rain. His mum had forced him to come indoors. Besides, it was getting dark out anyway, and tomorrow was his seventh birthday. He thought about what he might be getting. He had asked his parents for a dog but he doubted he would get one.

“Bed soon Tidus.†his mum spoke to him, gazing out of the window. It was unusual for it to rain at this time of year on the island - usually in mid winter there was no rainfall at all, instead the weather would be bitterly cold . She frowned at the thunder clouds.

“Do I have to?†Tidus grumbled. His mum picked him up off the floor, not replying. Tidus looked sadly down at his train. He wouldn’t have it till tomorrow now. He brightened up as he remembered it was his birthday the following day.

Suddenly there was a loud knock on the front door. Tidus’ mother sighed and went to answer it, her son still in her arms. To her surprise it was her mother.

“Grandma!†Tidus squealed happily. His grandmother smiled at him, her eyes crinkling up at the sides.

    “How’s my favourite grandson?â€

Tidus grinned, showing missing front teeth. “Im okay!â€

Tidus’ mother looked in turn at her own mother. “Do you want a hot drink mum? It’s quite stormy out there.â€

“Ooh yes please. But the damp doesn’t affect me. I can keep myself warm with magic!â€

She winked at Tidus and his face lit up. Grandma could use magic! Maybe she was like one of those magical people in the books he liked to read. Maybe she could make fire dance around her or conjure rabbits out of hats.

Tidus’ mum went off to get drinks, lowering Tidus to the floor. He took this as a cue that he no longer had to go to bed. His grandmother looked at him and led him into the sitting room. She shut the curtains and lit the fire.

“Now,†she said, gesturing to Tidus that he should sit on his lap, “How about we have a little chat and I’ll tell you some stories eh?â€

Tidus settled down and looked at his grandma’s wise face. Her eyes were overspilling with the knowledge of eighty years. “Yeah!†he said.

Before she could begin, Tidus interrupted. “Grandma, can you really do magic!? Can you make a rabbit appear for me?. Please! I really want one!â€

His grandma laughed. “Not that type of magic dear. No, I deal with a different sort. I can only do the odd few tricks, like keeping myself warm in the cold.†She patted his back gently.

Tidus stuck out his lower lip. “Aww. What type do you do then?â€

“Ah. Well. I tend to deal with objects that are magical. Like rings that can make you invisible. Or brooms that you can fly on.†She nodded knowingly, giving Tidus an intelligent eye.

“Tidus!†his mother called from the kitchen. “Come and get your drink!â€

Tidus jumped off his grandmothers lap and ran into the kitchen. His mother had his back to him.

“Guess what mum! Grandma can do magic! She has things that make you invisible and stuff!†His face was lit with excitement.

“Aww honey. That stuff isn’t true. That’s just one of your grandmother’s stories.â€

“Oh.†he looked immensely disappointed. Tidus’ mum almost wished she hadn’t told him the truth. But he was growing up now and needed to know the reality from the fantasy.

“C’mon sweetie here’s your drink.†she passed him a mug of hot milk. He walked back into the sitting room where his grandmother was staring at the flames in the fireplace.

“There you are!†she smiled. Tidus hopped onto her lap again. “I thought the boogie man had got you!â€

    “The boogie man?†said Tidus uncertainly.

“Why, haven’t I told you about him yet?†she feigned surprise. Tidus’ mum watched the two, marvelling at her mum’s storytelling gift. “He’s an old friend of mine actually, we used to spend days talking about…â€

Tidus’ eyes widened as he heard all about the boogie man and where he lived. Then stories seemed to pour from his grandma’s mouth, and Tidus soaked up every word about dragons, unicorns, and faeries that lived in your house. Then the topic moved back to magic. Tidus noticed his grandmother kept touching a small silver locket she had around her neck.

“What’s that?†he asked curiously. Grandma looked fondly down at the little chain and gave it a pull.

“A wise man gave it to me as a gift. It was a thank you for helping him for some of his stories. I’m very fond of this little item.â€

    “What does it do?†Tidus questioned.

“Well,†she began, “legend declares that the person who opens it has the power to do immense things. Great, great things. Even achieve such feats as to reverse time or recover a life that’s lost.†she looked sombre suddenly. A solemn look had entered her eyes.

Tidus was excited. “Then why don’t we open it!?†he grinned.

“Try.†his grandma replied. Tidus reached across and lifted the locket up from her neck. In vain he tried to open it but it appeared to be locked or just broken. The hinges wouldn’t budge.

“Human methods cannot open it,†his grandmother stated, “Only by a special method can it be opened.â€

    “What’s that?â€

“Right! I think it’s about time for bed, Tidus!†his mother stood up suddenly, giving a meaningful look to her mother. Tidus groaned. He had been about to find out how to open it! But his mum would hear none of his complaints and he was quickly ushered up the stairs. Climbing into bed his mum kissed him goodnight.

“Big boy tomorrow.†his mum said fondly, ruffling his hair. Tidus squirmed out of her grip but she chased him, tickling his belly. He shrieked with laughter.

“’Night.†he said sleepily, snuggling under the covers. She turned off the light and shut the door. Within minutes he was asleep.

He woke up in what seemed minutes later to the sound of his bedroom door creaking open. Keeping his eyes half shut he squinted to see what the clock read on the other side of the room. Then he remembered he couldn’t tell the time properly yet. He decided to pretend to be asleep and kept his body still.

He smelt the familiar scent of lavender that was his grandmother. She was leaning over him in the dark.

“Happy birthday love.†she whispered and kissed his forehead.

She began to back out of the room, but stopped before the door. It seemed she guessed that Tidus was awake.

“The one who will open the locket,†she whispered from the shadows, “Is the one who cries crimson tears.â€

With that she closed the door behind her. Tidus sat up in the dark. He was utterly confused.

Maybe he would understand when he was older.

    *****

The next day, on Tidus’ seventh birthday, his family received the unfortunate news that Tidus’ grandmother had passed away. She had died out to sea, when a vicious storm had rocked her boat. Her body had been found later that day, but when they had been allowed to see her Tidus had noticed something was wrong. The locket she adorned on her neck was missing. She looked wrong without it.

“Where’s her locket?†he had cried, “she cant go without her locket!â€

But nobody listened to him. Tears streamed down young Tidus’ cheeks but he was ignored.

“Happy birthday Tidus.†he mumbled to himself, then went off to play with his train, hoping it would take his mind away from home.

That night Tidus dreamt that the locket was at the bottom of the sea. It was buried in the sand, and nobody would ever find it again.

    *****

“…… It was my grandmothers! The same one Kairi is wearing!†Tidus finished. Wakka stood nonplussed, his mouth gaping.

“So…†Wakka tried to comprehend what his friend was saying.

“The locket Kairi is wearing is the one with the powers!â€

Wakka eyes widened. “But that means…†he considered his words. “that means we could bring her back to life! Tidus we could do it, man!â€

“We have to tell Sora!†Tidus said excitedly. He began to rush across the room. Wakka held him back.

“Wait, ya? We have to see if it’ll open first! And it might just be a legend, ya know?â€

Tidus nodded and carefully took the locket from Kairi’s neck. His fingers twitched when they touched her cold neck.

The boys looked down at the silver chain in Tidus’ hands.

    *****

“Why do you have the Keyblade?!?â€

    “Shut up!!!â€

Riku’s eyes snapped open. He remained still for a whole minute, wondering why he was in the dark. Then he noticed his mouth was gagged and his hands were restrained behind his back. He struggled against them, but in vain. He wondered why the hell he was here. Who had tied him up. And why was he in the dark? Where on earth was he?

And why did his head feel like it had been smashed like a fried egg?

He didn’t know the answers to any of those questions. But he did know one thing. He felt an overwhelming guilt for something, and he couldn’t work out what. He just felt like a great burden had been placed on his shoulders.

He was also desperately craving something. But what?

Then he felt somebody calling him, and he surfaced to a world of desperation and madness.

In the cupboard Riku’s eyes opened wide. The red glare in his pupils was just visible in the darkness.

“Kairi…†he smiled in the dark, and began to laugh. Spit flecked the wardrobe walls. He didn’t mind the dark. He felt at home here. He didn’t even mind that his hands were tied. And he had spat out the gag in his mouth. Giggling to himself, he gurgled as blood in his mouth dripped down his throat. It was warm and salty. He didn’t mind that his head felt like it had been smashed to pieces. He had Kairi’s heart and that was all that mattered.

Grinning like a fool he closed his eyes. He didn’t feel the need to chase Kairi anymore. He had curbed his addiction. Kairi was his now. He could treasure her forever and ever.

Laughing in the shadows, Riku slipped into a trance once more.

    *****

    “Tears. Crimson tears.†Wakka repeated. “I don’t get it.â€

“Well… Crimson is red so… Tears that are red. Who cries red tears?â€

Wakka shook his head. “No idea. Maybe we should just leave it, ya know? We should go get Sora. He should have a chance to say a final goodbye.â€

Tidus grunted in agreement and he re-fastened the locket around Kairi’s neck. The boys made their way downstairs. Wakka stopped to cover Clara’s body with the bed sheets. He had wiped her head clear of blood and fed her a potion. She looked a little less pale now.

    “You coming Wakka?â€

    Wakka nodded. “Yeah.â€

    *****

Sora was asleep, slumped on a chair when Tidus and Wakka walked into the room. Tidus went over to him and gently shook him awake. He was dismayed to see Sora’s eyes were surrounded by red rings. They were puffy and swollen. Tidus realised with sadness that only when asleep had Sora escaped the pain of Kairi’s death.

“Time to say goodbye, Sora.†Wakka said to him, giving his friend’s shoulder a comforting squeeze. Sora nodded, scared to talk incase he broke down again. Tidus led him up the stairs. He literally had to support Sora all the way up. It was like his buddy had lost the will to live.

Wakka and Tidus left Sora some space as he moved to Kairi’s side. He cradled Kairi in his arms again like she was a fragile newborn child. He had no words to say. Nothing could ever voice how much pain he felt inside.

Sora sat there for an hour, wanting to keep her there in his arms forever. He didn’t want to let her go, but he knew time was ticking. Wakka, who stood in the doorway, checked his watch. It was quarter to four. The sun would be up any minute.

Sora looked down at Kairi for the last time.

“I love you Kairi.†he said to her. “I always will. I’ll never forget you.â€

He closed his eyes and as he did a single tear dropped onto her. It hit the silver locket. Sora lowered her body to the ground and stood up. He only opened his eyes when he was facing the others. He didn’t want to see Kairi’s staring eyes again.

Wakka and Tidus stood frozen to the spot. Sora looked at them weirdly.

    “Guys, c’mon.â€

    “Red….†Tidus started.

    “…Tears.†Wakka finished.

“What?†Sora mumbled. He didn’t really care.

“Sora. Your tears are red!†Tidus almost screamed. He began to jump up and down. Sora looked at his body. His tuxedo was indeed flecked with red tears.

But all confusion faded as there was a brilliant flash of light from behind. Sora whipped around. The corner of the room was filled with a golden white shine. It was brilliantly blinding. The three boys covered their eyes. Wakka yelped in surprise.

“What’s...Happening?†Sora murmured to nobody in particular.

A beam of light shot out and hit him in the heart. He gasped as a new sensation filled his body. There was a cracking sound and Sora saw that the locket around Kairi’s neck had opened. The white light was dispersed by a new, golden light.

Sora’s back arched. He felt filled with power. His heart contained something amazing, something immense. A new ability. He could do anything! He could achieve anything he wanted!

Suddenly he knew what to say. “Kairi… Come back to me.â€

He opened his heart and released the energy. A thousand voices seemed to sing a note in his ears.

Sora’s eyes closed and he felt his heart pound relentlessly against his ribcage. All the power in his veins flooded out and into Kairi’s lifeless body. Sora collapsed to his knees, the gold light taking over him completely. Then the locket closed and everything became normal.

“Wha…†Wakka mumbled. He had closed his eyes through everything.

“Kairi!†Sora scrambled to his feet and rushed to her side. He watched in wonder as the gaping hole in her chest started to fade away. Now her wounds had gone. His mouth hung open. New skin was knitting over her entire body, in an incredible speed. Colour was beginning to appear in her cheeks. Sora leant his ear to her chest and was over the moon to hear a familiar beat resounding there. His heart filled with joy. Somehow, impossibly, Kairi was coming back to life.

Kairi began to twitch. Sora waited for the moment she would wake up, holding her close to him. Her whole body was refreshing. Last to come was the wonderful light of life she had in her eyes. It had returned.

    Kairi’s eyelids fluttered open.

“Sora?†her voice weakly said. It was the most wonderful voice in the world.

Sora’s heart jumped into his throat. “Kairi! Kairi! It’s me, Kairi! I’m here for you! It’s Sora!â€

“Sora!†Kairi said, recognition sparkling in her pupils. Sora wanted to hug her to death, but he was afraid to harm her. She felt like a fragile doll right now.

“I love you too, Sora.†she smiled weakly. Sora’s eyes widened.

    “How did you…â€

She giggled and Sora was overjoyed to see the old Kairi back. He grinned, his mind in ecstasy.

“I…†Sora suddenly went extremely red. He had finally noticed something about Kairi.

“What’s wrong?†Kairi asked, touching his face gently. Her fingers were smooth on his tear streaked face.

Finally Kairi noticed herself. Damn, she thought, I’m as naked as I was the day I was born.

But for once she didn’t mind. She was alive. And Sora was here with her. Sora, the boy she loved. However he was extremely embarrassed and Kairi felt bad for him. Poor, innocent Sora. His face was now crimson. The tears on his face now blended in.

“It’s okay.†Kairi giggled, but she wrapped a bed sheet around herself anyway.

Sora immediately jumped up and almost strangled Kairi with a massive hug. Kairi was stunned but gasped as she felt the warmth of life in Sora.

“No need to glomp me Sora.†she joked, but she was delightfully happy and hugged him back. The grin on his face was ecstatic.

“Welcome back.†said Wakka, nodding. His grin was almost as big as Sora’s.

Tidus stepped forward and suddenly pushed Sora out of the way. Sora hit the floor with a thud.

“Argh! What the..†Sora looked at Tidus angrily.

Tidus laughed. “What? I wanted a hug!†This statement made Wakka snort and Tidus embraced his newly born friend. Kairi felt an overwhelming sense of happiness.

Then she noticed the body curled up in the four poster bed.

“Clara!†she gasped and rushed to the sleeping girls side. Luckily by now Clara’s injuries had almost fully healed. The unconscious Clara began to turn slightly in her sleep, her eyelids fluttering.

“Uhh?†Clara moaned. She opened her eyes steadily. They were a grim shade of grey.

“Hey.. Are you feeling okay?†Kairi asked.

“Kairi! You’re alive!†Clara beamed and sat up. She fell back on the pillow again when she discovered her weakness. Also the sight of four people surrounding her in bed was slightly scary.

“Yeah I figured.†Laughed Kairi and she tucked Clara back into bed.

    “Rest a while.†suggested Tidus. “We’ll sort out the house.â€

“Yeah I know you will!†snorted Sora. “I cant wait to see you and Wakka hoovering and dusting!†He doubled up.

“You’ll be joining them too!†Kairi said, nudging him in the ribs. Sora feigned shock and everybody laughed. Sora took Kairi in his arms and caressed her again.

“I’m so glad you came back to me, Kairi.â€

Kairi stiffened and looked up at his serious face. But seeing his bright blue eyes she relaxed again.

“Of course I did. I know you’re useless without me.†she stuck out her tongue in an adorable manner and Sora felt warmth in his heart. Maybe he finally knew what love felt like.

Kairi rested her head on his chest. “Sora.†she ventured carefully. “What happened to Riku?â€

Soraâ€widened as he realised he didn’t know. He turned to Wakka to ask.

“Tied up in a cupboard.†Wakka said, pointing his thumb to the corridor outside the bedroom.

“What should we do with him?†Tidus said biting his lip.

“Oh.. When I get my hands on him!†Sora almost roared. Kairi gasped.

    “Sora! You can’t! He’s your best friend!â€

“Was my best friend, you mean. Kairi, he killed you!â€

“But he’s not himself! You know that wasn’t him! And somewhere, deep inside that person locked in the cupboard, I know the real Riku is there!â€

Sora sighed. “Then what are we meant to do, guys?â€

Tidus looked up at Sora’s face. “We bring the old Riku back.â€

The circle nodded. Clara had fallen into a deep sleep once more.

Somehow, they had to bring their old friend back from wherever he had gone.

Wahay I posted another chapter! *pats myself on back*

Is Riku dead...., not really caring much about Kairi, cuz we(at least I) know what's gonna happen to her....

What we mean, is that it all ends up '...and they lived happily ever after'. Really the fact that you brought blood into this, most of us aren't really expecting a happy ending, but seeing Kairi alive..., it's almost like pixar/dreamworks ending.

    GO FORTH, CHAPTER 12!

    Chapter 12

Tidus, Wakka, Sora and Kairi stared down at the motionless bundle that was Riku. Wakka had done his job well; Riku’s arms were firmly tied and his legs were twisted beneath him. His gag had been spat out and his eyes were closed. Flecks of spit surrounded his mouth.

“So… What do we do for him?†Wakka said uncertainly. Sora shook his head.

“There is a quick solution to this, you know, Kairi?†He summoned the Keyblade, slicing it through the air around Riku’s head.

Kairi shook her head. “No.†she said defiantly. “ I know the real Riku is in there somewhere. We just have to get him back.†She pouted her lips proudly. Sora found himself staring at them.

“Sora?†Tidus said, waving his hand in front of his eyes. “Erm.. Try and concentrate on the matter at hand, eh?â€

“Uh? Oh, yeah of course.†Sora shook himself, his cheeks slightly flushed. The boys paced the room. Kairi leant over to whisper in Sora’s ear.

“Don’t worry, later you can have them all you want.†She murmured in his ear. Sora’s head tingled. Kairi laughed but turned morose again when she glanced down at Riku.

“Hang on in there Riku.†she said to him. “We’ll save you.â€

    *****

“So where are we going again?†Tidus mumbled to Wakka. Wakka shook his head.

“Don’t you ever listen? Kairi said we should retrace Riku’s footsteps from the day he changed. We might be able to find some kind of clue as to where he went and what he did.â€

    “Erm… Okay, I guess.†Tidus said. “Where do we start?â€

    “I think Riku’s house. It’s as good a place as any.â€

The boys walked down the main road through the village. The sun had risen slightly in the pink sky. A number of early morning shoppers were pointing and staring at them. Tidus immediately became self conscious.

“Wakka? Could we change our clothes? I mean.. Look at us!â€

Wakka looked down. His tuxedo was torn to shreds, his chest half hanging out. Gashes of blood were visible through his shirt. And half his trouser leg was ripped off. Yeah, they could do with getting changed.

“Yeah we should,†Wakka laughed half heartedly. “But where would we get the clothes from?â€

    “Our houses?â€

“Too far. Wrong side of the island for Riku’s house.â€

    “We could steal?â€

“Pah! No, lets go into a shop.†Wakka pointed to an old wooden shop with a creaky sign on the front. Tidus pushed through the front doors.

“Le Vetements...†Wakka murmured, reading the shop sign. He followed Tidus through the door.

“Remind me,†Tidus moaned as he stepped in what seemed to be some kind of mashed banana, “What horrible things to Sora and Kairi have to do while we do the work?â€

“Spend time with each other?†Wakka smirked.

Tidus raised his eyebrows. “Maybe we shouldn’t have left the two of them alone!â€

The boys laughed and looked around the shop. Nobody was around. The cashiers desk was empty. Wakka gazed at the clothes lining the walls. There was an assortment of outfits, ranging from pirate costumes to smart evening gowns. Tidus pointed to a chequered cardigan.

“Hey, Wakka. I can see you in that you know?â€

Wakka scowled but laughed when he spotted another odd outfit.

“And I can see you in that my friend! Ya?†He motioned to a tightly fitting all-in-one leather suit. Tidus recoiled at the sight and stepped back.

“What the hell!†he roared as he stepped in mush again. “What’s with the mushy floor!â€

“Got to watch where your stepping brother!†Wakka laughed.

“Okay back to business. We don’t have enough time to be wasting it.†Tidus said firmly, trying not to be embarrassed.

    Wakka saluted. “Yes boss.â€

“I think… I’ll wear…THAT.†Tidus pounced on an outfit. Wakka burst out laughing and began to pull stuff off the shelves.

    *****

Two figures stepped out of a wooden shop. One was wearing a long brown cloak, fitted to the ankles. He had a pair of black boots strapped to his feet, an orange shirt with blue cuffs and a fake moustache glued to his face. Bits of glue were caught on his upper lip.

The other figure was wearing a black vest and cropped dark green trousers. His leather belt had sheathes for short swords and a place for keeping bullets and grenades.

“Hee hee hee.†Tidus giggled, stroking his moustache.

“Okay enough with the moustache!†Wakka said, leaning forward and pulling the fake hair off Tidus’ face. Tidus roared with pain.

    “What the hell! That hurt!â€

“It looked ridiculous. And it was unnecessary.†Wakka snapped. He was suddenly very serious.

“You can talk! You look like your about to join the army! When are we ever going to need grenades!â€

“We might need them! And you can talk! You look like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and an oompa loompa! Now c’mon, we need to get to Riku’s!â€

Tidus snorted but followed his friend down the road all the same. Wakka soon fell behind his quick footed friend.

“Erm… Tidus man?†Tidus stopped and looked at Wakka. Wakka tried to hide his smile.

    “What?â€

Wakka stifled a laugh. “You have banana on your shoe.â€

Tidus looked at his foot. “WHAT the hell!†he roared again. He tried to shake it off.

    “Don’t worry it’ll come off.â€

    “Humph.â€

    *****

Sora opened his eyes slowly. He and Kairi had fallen asleep on a large double bed in one of the bedrooms, after hiding Riku in the cupboard again.

Kairi’s sweet face was next to his. He thought about waking her up, but decided not to. She looked too peaceful. He liked watching her body rising and falling as she breathed. It was comforting to know she was alive.

Slowly she began to stir. Her eyelids flickered open.

“Sora?†she mumbled. “How long have you been watching me?â€

Sora smiled as she yawned. “Not too long.†he lied. She nestled her face close to his.

Is this a dream? he thought to himself.

“Guess what Sora.†Kairi mumbled half to herself. Her voice was muffled by Sora’s shirt.

“What?†he murmured back to her in her ear.

“I love you.†she said quietly. Sora almost burst with happiness.

“I love you too Kairi.†he said. A happy tear welled up in his eye. Afraid of showing it he buried his face in her soft red hair.

Kairi suddenly tensed up. “Sora,†she said gently, “you’re hurt!â€

Sora frowned, his arms wrapped around her. He couldn’t recall getting badly injured, and his body didn’t ache much.

    “I am?†he said. Kairi wouldn’t relax.

“Your shoulder.†she said, hurt in her voice. She touched the wound with her hand gently and Sora remembered as pain shot down his elbow. It was where Riku had slammed Way To The Dawn onto his upper arm, and sliced it open. Now it was sore to the touch.

Blood began to seep from it. Kairi cried out to see Sora in pain.

    “Kairi. Relax. I’m fine, okay?â€

Kairi relaxed slightly, but she was still uptight. Sora caressed her.

“Shall I heal it for you? I’m sure Clara must have some potions downstairs somewhere.†she looked thoughtfully worried. She began to sit up but Sora pulled her back onto her pillow.

“Don’t go.†he said. He didn’t want her to disappear off somewhere again.

“I’ll be quick,†she vowed, “anyway, I have to check on Clara.â€

She pecked him lightly on the cheek and rose. Walking out of the door she crossed the corridor to the room where Clara was sleeping. Peering in, she saw that her friend was still asleep. Good.

    *****

Sora’s shoulder was started to sting badly now that the numbness had died down. Looking closely, he saw dead veins sticking out of the wound and blood pulsing out steadily. Dead flesh clung to the sides in the hope that it would rejoin new skin.

Eww, Sora thought, No wonder Kairi was concerned!

    *****

Tidus and Wakka reached the block of buildings.

“Riku’s home.†Tidus confirmed. Wakka looked up at the third floor window.

“Is that a teddy bear?†Wakka said, looking at a bundle of fluff clearly visible on the windowsill. Tidus laughed.

“I don’t know, I’ve never been to Riku’s before. But I doubt it. As if Riku would have teddy bears!â€

Wakka raised his eyebrows. “You never know…â€

The boys went up in the lift and stopped outside Riku’s apartment. To their surprise the front door was open. They walked in.

It was freakishly silent. Tidus’ feet sunk into soft beige carpet. He gazed around, his mouth agape.

    “Whoa.â€

“What the…†Wakka mumbled. The boys looked around in shock at Riku’s flat. There was a lot of pink. A LOT. Pink sofa. Pink rug. Pink mini fridge. And to Wakka’s amusement, a pink teddy bear on the window sill.

    “HA!†Tidus laughed. Wakka doubled up.

“Who’d have thought Riku was such a girly girl!†Wakka exclaimed. He proceeded into the living area. Apart from the vast amounts of pink, everything was normal. The room looked spotless, in fact.

“Don’t think were going to find any clues here, ya?†Wakka said grimly. Tidus peered into Riku’s bedroom. He was surprised to see no pink, just a plain white bed. He ventured inside, stepping over piles of clothes.

Lifting up one of Riku’s pillows, Tidus did a double take.

    “Wakka!†he shouted. “You’ll never believe this, man!â€

Wakka rushed in. His mouth dropped when he saw what was underneath the pillows.

Tidus pushed the pillows back in place. “I don’t want to see that anymore!â€

Wakka pulled a face. “Me neither!†he agreed. The boys left the apartment, shutting the door firmly behind them. The flat had not taught them anything about Riku’s actions.Well, except that he hid odd things under his pillows...

Tidus walked towards the stairs, but bumped into an elderly lady. The old woman fell back, her handbag flying into the air. Wakka gave Tidus a stupid look.

“Oh my… I’m so sorry!†Tidus said apologetically. He helped the old lady to her feet. Wakka picked up her bag.

The old woman glared at Tidus. “Mind where you’re going, young man!†she snapped, waving her bottle green handbag around.

“Sorry.†Tidus grimaced as the bag hit his arm.

“Excuse me,†Wakka interrupted, “but do you know a Riku?â€

The old woman’s face softened. “Yes. A ‘Riku’ lives next door to me. But I haven’t seen him in a while. Is he a friend of yours?â€

“Sort of.†Wakka said. Tidus was annoyed to find he was being left out of the conversation, but let it slide.

“Hmm well last time I saw him… a few days ago. It was the day that we had a storm, dears. He mentioned he was going to the island?â€

    Wakka eyes lit up. “Thanks!â€

The woman nodded. “And tell your friend to mind his manners!†She opened her front door and disappeared inside. Tidus was outraged.

    “Soooo unfair!†he said.

“Mind your manners, now Tidus!†Wakka laughed. The boys began to walk down the stairs.

“Where now?†Tidus said, almost tripping over his brown cloak. Stumbling, Wakka held onto his arm.

    “The island.â€

    *****

    “YeeeOUCHHHH!!!!!!!â€

“Sorry!†Kairi squealed. She was rubbing anti sceptic into Sora’s shoulder. It was obviously painful.

Sora gritted his teeth. Blood spurted down his arm again. He was starting to feel dizzy from lack of blood.

“Hang in there, Sora.†Kairi said gently. She felt guilty for causing him to suffer.

Peeling off a bandage, she wrapped it around the wound. Sora lay back on the bed, and Kairi carefully gave him some potion to drink. Sora felt better almost immediately, but was extremely tired.

“Go to sleep.†Kairi ordered him. Sora shook his head.

“I can’t leave you to do everything yourself.†he refused.

Kairi shrugged. “There’s nothing to do. Not until Wakka and Tidus come back. I’ll wake you up when they do.â€

Sora gave in and closed his eyes. Kairi watched him fall asleep, then drank some of the potion. She didn’t want to admit it, but she was feeling quite weak herself.

Lying down next to Sora, she placed her arms around his back and fell into a deep sleep.

    *****

Wakka paced back and forth across the path. They had stopped on the way to the harbour so that Tidus could go to the toilet. Tidus had ran into some bushes, but had been gone a very long time. Wakka was bored waiting for his friend.

Looking up, he saw what he thought was his imagination playing tricks on him. A familiar figure wearing yellow was jogging across the field opposite. Wakka’s heart stopped.

“Selphie!!!†he screamed in delight. The girl stopped and looked around for the voice. Finally her eyes stopped on Wakka.

“Wakka!†she laughed in happiness, running towards him. Her brown hair flew in the soft morning breeze. But when she drew closer, Wakka saw that her green eyes were filled with hurt.

“Where have you been!†she almost shouted. “I’ve been worried sick!†she stopped a few paces from him. Wakka tried to step towards her but she stepped back, unhappiness in her eyes.

Wakka told her what had happened. Her eyes filled with horror.

    “Kairi!†she squealed. “Is she alright?!â€

Wakka nodded. “She’s fine now. Me and Tidus are working on how to save Riku.â€

Selphie shook her head, trying to comprehend the story. Tears began to fall onto her cheeks.

    “I thought…†she started. “I thought I’d lost you!†She cried aloud, sobbing.

“Aww I’m so sorry, Selphie. It’s my fault. I should have come home earlier, looked for you…†He looked downwards.

Suddenly Selphie had jumped on him, almost knocking the wind out of him. She held him tight in her arms.

“Don’t ever do that again!†she said, looking into his eyes. Wakka looked back down at her.

Before he realised what he was doing he had leant in for a kiss. Selphie kissed him back greedily. Her salty tears ran into his mouth but he didn’t mind. All he cared about was kissing her.

Selphie sniffed. Wakka smiled and opened his mouth slightly. Selphie suddenly stopped crying and ran her hands up his back. They backed away into the bushes, still locking lips.

Wakka had forgotten about Tidus. The couple backed into where he was still using the bushes as a toilet.

“Argh!†Tidus roared, pulling up his trousers.

Wakka and Selphie pulled apart and immediately burst into giggles. Now tears of laughter fell from Selphie’s cheeks.

“Sorry!†Wakka said hysterically. “I forgot you were in here!â€

Tidus had gone crimson and he hid his face. But seeing Selphie reminded him of something. His face went pale.

“Selphie!†he said in a panicky tone. “What happened to Shell?!â€

Selphie’s face turned serious once more. “At home. Donâshe didn’t get involved in the fight.â€

Tidus sighed in relief. “Thank you.â€

“But she’s very worried about you mister!†Selphie jabbed her finger into Tidus’ chest. Tidus backed away.

“Okay, take me to her house.†he said. Wakka shook his head, annoyed.

“No man! We have stuff to do, remember?â€

Selphie raised her hand. “I’ll drop by and tell her you’re okay?â€

“You’re a life saver, Selphie.†Tidus said. Wakka rolled his eyes.

“Sorry, baby.†he addressed Selphie. “We have to go again.â€

“Is there any way I can help?†she implored.

“Not really. I’ll see you later. Hopefully.†she hugged him. Tidus turned away, giving them privacy.

    “I love you Wakka.â€

Wakka eyes widened. “I love you too.â€

Selphie walked away. Wakka turned to Tidus.

    “Right. Now to the island!â€

“Wait!†Tidus said, holding back his friend.

    “Ya?â€

“Can I go to the toilet first?â€
