so ign wrote an article about kingdom hearts i thought i should share http://ds.ign.com/articles/121/1219540p1.html i agree with them on some points but they sound overly whiny, and it sounds like they just skimmed through the games without playing them
This is a really dumb article, it is very unprofessional, then again this is IGN. I admit the KH story is...extensive?? But its not terrible, you just got to take some time to understand it. If you read the comments the majority actually said what I said (but probably with more butthurt)
this article could have been handled with more tact. the way it's written, it is incredibly unprofessional and it's easy to tell that they're just trying to get people angry.
With this article, I have lost all my respect or IGN. All of it. I can't believe they allow this: let an inexperienced person who has probably never even played the game write a... well... "Troll Article" about Kingdom Hearts. And I mean it when I say "this guy should be sho". It's too bad that more than half of the world only knows how to play shooters and mainstream ****.
I agree with them completely. After KH1, the story of the series has just been a complete mess. And they weren't that unprofessional really, they said that the games, outside of the story, were great. There are two reasons that people think so lowly of Kingdom Hearts: The story and the fanbase. "you just got to take some time to understand it." By this you mean you've got to read up on it on the wiki, right? If it had a good story you would be able to easily explain what the series was about, if it was great THEN you have the subtle elements you have to think about. Let a person who hasn't even read the article, call it a troll article. They mentioned that the series shines in the gameplay department, so how could they not have played it? They mentioned what sucked about the story, what do you think they did, just watched it off of KH-Vids? Why do you insult people who play shooters and mainstream "****"? Did the article really hurt you that much, that you need to make a baseless claim just to feel better? "Let's all band together against those 3.5 billion mainstream ****s!" It's just an article, no need to take it so personal, kuma-san.
I've finally sat down and read the article and I can agree with it to an extent- this doesn't mean I don't still adore KH. I wish they wouldn't keep swapping consoles but I don't personally have a problem with the story because I've played the games enough to understand the story completely, but this is different to other people obviously. I'm glad the writer didn't just list things about the games and said they sucked, they actually added some positives about the game so I'm not complaining there. But blah, overall what does it matter? If you still like KH then the article shouldn't change anything.
While I like kh a LOT but... Everyone has their own opinion right. So if IGN think kh sucks its their opinion.
After reading it, it seems to me its a guy who personally either did not understand or like the game's story. Which is fine, he's entitled to an opinion. But the article was written in quite an unprofessional manner and was clearly designed to incite anger from the fans and cause arguments. It's true that the story is complex, but it isn't really THAT difficult to understand what's going on if you...you know, actually pay attention to it. It seems to me that a lot of people seem to quickly dismiss games with a complex story. What, actually using your brain on something is that detracting to your game experience? Oh well.
If it wasn't for the complex story of the series, I wouldn't even care for KH by now. Nomura said he doesn't like to make things simple so that the players can think about the events and come up with theories. And that's what I really like about him.
The story really isn't that complex, it's convoluted. It's really just DARKNESS VS LIGHT! THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AND HEARTS! The story and the themes are very simple, it's just that they are presented in a very convoluted way.
