    A Far-Off Memory...OMG Chapter 2!

Notes: This takes place directly after KH2. Like, super directly, as in, immediatly following the cutscene where they receive the letter. The title. right now, probably makes absolutely no sense, but it eventually will. I already have the entire story planned out in my head, so hopefully, if I don't get lazy, the wiar between chapters won't be too long. Hopefully I will also get people who are waiting for the next chapter. This was indirectly inspired by JellyBeing's "The Pure of Heart" although the plots are nothing alike. Well, I'm starting to ramble now, so I'm just going to post the first chapter then. The chapters do not have names.

    Chapter 1

    Dear Sora, Riku, and Kairi,

I'm sorry to disturb you so soon after all of this trouble, but I feel it is necessary. There is trouble afoot.

This made Riku smile. He could sense an adventure was coming.

Throughout the past 2 weeks since we last met, I've been researching some uprisings in an uncharted area of the world map. It seems as if there is another world there where something is going on. Something not caused by, but to do with you 3. I've also recently researched occurrences of nobodies and somebodies merging, and found, more than once, a prophecy. I can't tell you it right now, but I am mighty sure it is definitely about you 3, because it involves a keyblade wielder and a princess of heart. Boy, its pretty long, and the first part is remarkably accurate. I believe it pertains to Namine and Roxas as well, but I really can't get into the details for your own safety. All I can say is that I need you guys just to stay put for now, because to do anything else could have consequences that even I don't fully understand. I would also prefer that you don't use magic, Sora, and that you and Riku try not to summon your keyblades. I can't tell you why right now, but this is incredibly important. You may use them in emergency, but only then. It is incredibly unlikely that anything will find you back on Destiny Islands, because whoever opened that portal for us back when we were on The World That Never Was made sure that the new link connecting Destiny Islands was incredibly thin and untraceable, yet strong.

Sora and Kairi both knew this was Namine, while Kairi internally thanked her for it.

I know this is a lot to unload on you at one time through a letter, but golly, the discovery I made could very well be the key to the future of all the worlds and Kingdom Hearts. I haven't told anyone about any of this yet, not even Donald and Goofy, because I am afraid that they will want to leave and disobey me. I know that you will not do this. I will send you more information as I see fit, but for right now it would be an overwhelming risk to tell you everything I know. It is highly important that you follow my instructions. Gee, I sure miss you guys. Hopefully I will get back to you soon. Check back where you found the bottle daily.

    Your Pal,

    Mickey

After a long, painful silence, in which Sora knew all of his friends were reading and rereading the letter over and over again, he rolled it up and put it back into the bottle.

Kairi looked shocked. Her face showed worry as she paced around the islet. Riku just looked at Sora, confused. Then, he said the first word.

    "So that’s it?" He said.

Sora and Kari both turned to look at him. He was sitting at the edge of the islet, with his legs hanging over, looking out over the sea.

"That’s what he wants us to do? No, that’s what he expects us to do?"

Sora just looked at the letter in the bottle that he grasped so tightly in his hands. It caused so many emotions to be set free inside him that he almost hated it. What could this prophecy possibly be? How could Mickey expect this of them? He knows Riku so well! He surely must know that Riku can't stand being cooped up away from the action! Right now, neither could he! And sure they were glad to be back, but not unwilling to help! All he could do was look down, thinking.

Riku was standing up now, looking at Sora and Kairi.

"How does he expect us to just sit back while he is in on all the action? And he still dumped all of this information on us? No, not even all the information, just some?"

Sora just continued to look down.

"And to top it all off, we can't even use our keyblades or magic to practice in case anything does happen, but he still wants us to be prepared? I mean at first when I saw it I thought he was asking us for help again, but then when I read the rest-"

"Riku! Please! We all feel the same way and you're just making it worse." Kairi interrupted. Sora still didn't say anything.

Riku turned to look at her. "Sorry." He said, followed by another long silence.

Kairi was now sitting on the left side of the tree that hung over the ledge, with Sora in the middle and Riku on the other side of Sora. Mickey had unloaded so much information on them, they all knew that the best thing to do right now was to do just what they were doing. This time, Sora noticed the sun was setting and broke the silence.

"You guys wanna camp out tonight? Like, right here, on the islet? I just….think better…when I'm here."

"Sure." Kairi said, not breaking her gaze from the ocean. "That'd be nice."

    Riku just nodded.

After another 5 minutes went by, Sora said "Well.. er.. I'm gonna go get my stuff then" and hopped off the tree and started walking away. Kairi noticed him and called "Wait up!" and ran to catch up. Riku stared at the setting sun for a minute more before running to catch up with his two best friends.

They met back at the islet 45 minutes later; by this time it was already dark. Kairi had brought some firewood from her backyard and put it off to the side away from most of the trees, where Sora was about to cast firaga when Kairi stopped him and lit a match.

Sora and Kairi chose to set their sleeping bags up near the fire. Riku did the same, though insisted on getting the seat closest to the ocean, where as soon as he got set up, he climbed in and looked out again without saying a word. Sora and Kairi exchanged confused looks at each other at this action, but tried to shrug it off. Riku knew more about Mickey than either of them, so there was no telling what he was thinking.

Sora and Kairi stayed up for a little while, trying to talk about anything other than the letter. They needed a break from thinking about it. They tried to incorporate Riku into the conversation numerous times, but he seemed oblivious to it all, only providing them with subtle answers to their questions, like "Yeah, sure, whatever" or "Not really", so they eventually gave up.

As the night grew older, Kairi began to express how tired she was, and, despite all of Sora's attempts to keep the conversation going, (he knew that once it stopped, he would fall through the cushion he had just built up and have a virtually sleepless night) finally crawled into bed and said goodnight.

Once Kairi was asleep, Sora sat up awake on his sleeping bag, looking out, once again thinking about the letter. To his surprise, Riku sat up as well and began looking out. After about 10 minutes of looking out again, Riku turned to Sora. "You want to talk about the letter?" He said. "No." Sora replied. "What is there to talk about? Mickey was very clear. He just gave us a lot to think about. I don't think my words could keep up with my thoughts if we tried to talk about it." Riku nodded. "I suppose…" He said, in a far-off tone. Then, suddenly, he abruptly turned towards Sora. "Sora?" he said "hmm?" sorry replied, half listening, half lost in his own thoughts. "You're a great friend. Don't ever change, ok?"

Now it was Sora's turn to look at Riku. "Sure. What makes you say that."

    "Nothing.." Riku said. "Just…thinking…"

"Ok." Sora said, deciding it was nothing. He looked out and closed his eyes, feeling the cool ocean breeze flow over his face. Riku did the same.

After a while, Riku sighed. He didn't want this moment to end.

Eventually, Sora ended it, by telling Riku he was tired and that they both should probably get to bed. Riku nodded and said he'd go in a minute, which was good enough for Sora as he climbed into his sleeping bag.

Riku waited about a half hour after Sora went to bed, watching both him and Kairi sleep. He would miss them.

He sighed and got out a piece of paper and pen he had brought with him and started writing a letter that would cause Sora and Kairi even more stress.

After he finished, he placed it on top of his sleeping bag and got up, looking down at Sora and Kairi sleeping so peacefully.

By the time they read his letter, he would be long gone, and they would not be able to get to him.

    Aww thankies XD

Wow...thanks...but I really don't think so. I have read some pretty awesome fanfics that mine doesn't even compare too. I'm flattered though.

    Thank you!

Hopefully it won't take me as long as it takes you to come out with new chapters!

    Chapter 2

Notes for this chapter are at the end, becuase I couldn't give them without spoiling.

"Wake up! Sora! Sora, you lazy bum, Wake up! Wake up! WAKE UP!"

Sora groggily rolled over and playfully put a hand out, meeting Kairi's face with it.
"What are you doing?" She spat him.
"Trying to turn it off…" He said, half asleep.
"Sora, this isn't funny, you have to wake up!" She threw back at him. "NOW!" She insisted after he pulled the covers back over his head.

He finally gave in and sat up. "Jeese, Kairi, lighten up a little, okay?" He said, opening his eyes for the first time after rubbing them when he first sat up.

"Sora, now's not the time." This was when he first noticed the seriousness of her tone.
"Kairi, wuh….?" Was all Sora could get out before she pulled him up and stared at him.
"Come to the secret place with me."
    "Kairi, really, what's going on, I want-…"
"COME ON!" She choked out, her throat swelling and her eyes getting puffy with tears, already turned around and on her way to the Secret Place.

Now Sora knew she was for real. He followed her, dumbly, and didn't ask any questions. She kept her eyes focused on her destination, trying not to cry.
Once they got there Kairi stopped, abruptly, and waited, with Sora behind her, not daring to

After about 3 minutes of this, Sora cautiously walked up next to Kairi, and gently put his hand on her shoulder. "Kairi?" He said, softly. She was looking down at the ground, silently crying. "Are you okay?" He pushed. She looked at him, her face wet. "It's just…I'm afraid to see what..." She said, her voice trailing off. He smiled at her. "Hey, it's okay. What could be in here? It's the island. No, it's our island. C'mon. What's there to be afraid of?" He encouraged her. She looked up at him, nodding. "I'm gonna miss that, Sora." She said to him, taking the lead for the secret place. He looked puzzled and then followed her.

He caught up to her, and walked with her through the tunnel that led to the opening and the door; the door with the ability to take them to other worlds. He always felt happy when going through here, as if it was full of nothing but happy memories. He was about to ask Kairi if she would be up to going out and playing a game of hide and seek, for old times sake, when his eyes fell upon something he never thought he would ever see.

It was as if everything around him was gone, and it was just him and the horror that his eyes showed him. He stood there, staring, in disbelief, unable to comprehend anything, unaware of Kairi's tears, which had never fully stopped, come to a shrieking peak and her wails echo through the tunnel. He just stood there, staring, hoping with all his being that it wasn't true.

Before them, sprawled all over the floor of the Secret Place, was the door. Their key to other worlds. Their only key to other worlds. It had been destroyed. It was completely gone. Beneath the place on the wall where it used to be lay a new layer of rock; the walls of the cave. They looked strangely bare compared to the rest of the cave, which was dirty and filled with the drawings from their childhood. There was no hope for the door now; it was in pieces cut so small, it was barely recognizable as the door.

Eventually, Sora gradually started becoming aware of his surroundings. It was like the letter all over again; but 10 times worse. He heard Kairi crying and wanted to comfort her, but it was incredibly hard when he needed to be comforted himself. He stood there, looking at Kairi, and then at the remnants of their only communication with other worlds, then to the drawings on the walls, and finally to the bare spot on the wall where the drawing used to be. Kairi continued to cry, no end in sight, but this was far away from Sora now. He felt as if there were a hurricane inside of him, sucking up all of his emotions and blending them all together into one single emotion: rage.

He quenched his fists, his rage threatening to take over. Kairi noticed this, and started to say "Sora- there's something you should-" but he was barely able to hear it. He needed revenge on whoever did this; No, he needed to find a way to fix it, but he also needed so many things. It was as if he was no longer in control anymore; a victim of his own emotions.

Without warning, he summoned his keyblade, and began to smash anything in his sight; rocks, pieces of the door, drawings, what little fungus and plants able to grow back here; anything. He was out of control. Unable to stop. His blind rage compelled him through it. Kairi unsuccessfully tried to restrain him the entire time; her attempts feeble and useless. She only gave up when the top of the cave started to rumble, and rocks started to fall from the ceiling. "SORA!" she shrieked. "WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU? GET OUT! NOW!" she yelled to him.

The cave was going to cave in any minute now. She frantically looked around. Sora showed no sign of letting up. It was hopeless. If he didn't get out of there, soon, he was going to get stuck, or worse. Kairi tried not to think about the worst possible outcome. Sora continued to smash away, making the rumbling worse. Kairi bit her lip, ready to cry again. She turned towards the exit looking out, praying for somebody to try and come in to save them, when…

    Thump.

Sora abruptly stopped the beating he was giving to the cave. Reality started coming back to him, as he realized what he was doing. He heard all of the rocks falling and the rumbling, but this was not what caused him to stop. He heard another sound of something falling to the floor; something that definitely was not a rock. He whipped around, and saw Kairi on the ground, motionless, surrounded by rocks.

"KAIRI!" He screamed. Nothing else mattered now. Kairi was in danger. He quickly ran over to her and tried to shake her awake. No luck. He looked around at the cave; at the destruction he had caused. "NO!" He yelled to nobody, slamming his fists on the ground. The cave rumbled harder. "RIKU!" He yelled aimlessly, wondering why Riku had not come running when the rumbling started.

This was not helping. He and Kairi had to get out of there, fast. That was when the adrenaline kicked in. He was prepared to do whatever it took to get them both out of there as safe as possible.

He lifted Kairi's limp body up from the ground and propped her arm over his shoulder. He tested to see if they could walk. Kairi's feet dragged, but that didn't matter. He could find no better way in such a desperate situation. He kept his keyblade in his hand, incase it was needed, though he didn't know what it could do for them now. He began to walk, as fast as he could, for the exit. This was not hard, considering he knew every twist and turn from various games when they were little.

The rumbling grew more intense; Sora walked faster. This was a race. Sora and Kairi versus a collapsing cave. The cave was winning. He coughed. It was getting harder and harder to breathe. Sora locked his eyes on his destination. His only thought was to get out. He did not look back. Every second counted.

His walk soon broke into a run. The cave was shaking violently now; any minute it would be done. Sora held his breath, prepared for the worst, when…..

He hit what he had been longing for. Fresh air. Sunlight. Ocean breeze. He had one final burst of energy that propelled them both completely out of the doomed cave. They both collapsed in the bushes, Kairi still out cold.

Sora was completely out of breath. Beating up a cave with a keyblade and then dragging an unconscious person out of it will do that. He turned around to where he and Kairi had been seconds before to see what would happen to it. About a second after he turned, an incredibly large rock fell in the main pathway, followed by several others about the same size or bigger. These rocks pierced the ground, hard, as they fell, making an earsplitting noise.

He watched more and more rocks fall, in shock, still out of breath, until once final shrieking crescendo ended it, followed by silence stuck in the air; nothing but the waves could be heard. Silence was alien to Sora's ears; he felt as if they were begging him to hear something, because they had been working nonstop for so long.

He leaned against a part of the rock that was still relatively intact, still partly hidden from the bushes, not caring. He laughed. He didn't think anything was particularly funny, but he was a raw stew filled with millions of emotions all mixing together at one time, and it just so happened that laughter came out first. He leaned his head up against the rock again, wondering where Riku could be.

The adrenaline was now wearing off, fast, and Sora began to realize how tired he really was. He began to feel dizzy. The thought of laying down sounded good, but he didn't want to get up. He decided to lay right there on the ground, halfway hidden within the bushes. His dizziness started taking over; the world was spinning now. He wondered what Riku was doing again. The dizziness was enveloping him now; everything was violently spinning very fast, and all the colors were darkening. He rolled his head over to Kairi, looking at her unconscious figure, remembering when he made the promise to her, back when they were little, and she was afraid that a shooting star would hit the island, that he would never let anything hurt her.

    Wait, what?

He didn't make that promise, not to anybody...

The world was incredibly dark now; he was almost gone..

    Did he?

Notes: *Evil smile* I planned out this entire story when I got the idea, so I knew chapter 2 would end up like this. There's just a couple things you need to know....
1: Sora hasn't seen the letter Riku left them, therefore he doesn't know he's gone. Kairi does.

2: The fact that many of Sora's actions seem unrealistic due to his character is not just bad writing.

Ha! Now I have you confused! Hopefully...

And I can succesfully say I created two chapters of my own fanfic before 01_Kairi came out with her new one! *devilish grin*
(I'm jk, I realize you are busy. I just wish you weren't)
Hopefully Chapter 3 will be out soon! Thanks for reading!

    Something else? *ponders*

I just finished chapter 3, but I'm not posting it until more people read chapter 2. I feel like there is only one person reading it right now. So if you did read it, please comment, becuase I don't feel very motivated to write when I know people aren't going to be reading it. Well, at least when it comes to fanfics. Journals and sketchbooks are a different story......

    Thanks for the nice comments.

    I'm very late XD

But the new chapter will be out within the next day!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alrighty then. Nobody seems to be replying, but I am going to continue with it anyway becuase I really like this story. Here's chapter three. This one isn't as exciting, but I still think it is interesting. I already have half of chapter 4 written; it was going to be part of chapter 3 before I realized how long that would make it. Enjoy!

Sora ran up to her, obviously incredibly eager to see her, looking all sorts of happy and excited. She felt horrible for seeing him like this; it was not her who he should be happy to see. She sighed, looking down and feeling an overwhelming surge of guilt come over her for doing this to him. Then, without warning, he took her hand.

"I've waited so long to see you again! I've fought so hard to get here!" he said, his voice sounding elated.

She had to choose her words very carefully. She couldn't let him know.....

"I've…I've wanted to see you too" she said, truthfully.

He looked satisfied, but concerned that she was not happy as well. Before he could say anything, she continued.

"But.... I was wrong. I wanted to see you, but..."

    He waited for her answer.

"Not like this. It's all wrong." She finished, bracing herself for what she knew his answer would be; innocent, unknowing, and trusting of her. All things that she had made him.

"Wah-?" he asked, confused and a little upset that she was talking like this.

She decided to continue. His memories were so torn apart, and it was all her fault. No matter what happened to her, he deserved to know. He deserved to understand what involves him so greatly and could very well seal his fate. She took another quick, deep breath, then continued.

"I've always been so alone. It was so lonely, I couldn't stand it."

The story was getting very personal now; it was painful to say this to Sora, difficult to know that his look of uncanny trust would soon vanish by a look of bewildered betrayal from what he now thought to be his dearest friend.

"So I called out to your heart." She finished. "Called you here." She added, after Sora gave her a look of confusion.

She had to finish now; she was too far in. Trying not to think of what lay ahead, she drew another breath to finish her story.

"I'm so, so happy that you came her to me, but that's only because...because I..."

She couldn't finish; it was too painful.

She looked up at Sora, expecting him to be looking at her astonished, confused, and betrayed. Instead, she got him looking at her as if nothing was wrong at all.

"No problem!" he said simply. "I promised I'd take care of you." He said sincerely.

She decided not to argue with him...memories were very fragile....and instead express what she really wanted to say, what he wanted her to say, and what was much easier to say.

"Sora....Thank you." She responded, followed by another great wave of guilt.

"But I am not the one who should be here." She continued, her dread of what Sora would think when he found out the whole truth rising ever faster.

Sora looked confused and angry at the same time.

"I've forgotten a lot in this castle. But I haven't forgotten you! I know you belong here. I know WE belong here. I really want you to just accept that so we can be together like it was back then. Together, how it should be." He finished, looking quite sure of himself, pulling out his charm that she also changed as if proof that what he said was true.

"Sora.." she sighed. "Just remember again. Remember the one who shines in the very depths of your heart. Call together the fragments of your memory. No matter how far the light is, your voice will reach it."

"Who's important to me?" Sora said in an I'll- play-along-for-now-tone.

    "That's obvious. It's-"

Darkness, getting lighter, the endless black abyss swirling into the colors of something- an island- that Kairi knew. Something familiar. Something real.

Kairi opened her eyes to the part of the sky she could see through the bushes. She looked at it groggily for a moment, then realized what was going on and abruptly sat up. Her head was still spinning; she had a horrible headache. Her head barely reached over the bushes she was sitting in. She turned behind her to see the Secret Place door, completely sealed off by rock. She knew this was the fate of the rest of the Secret Place as well. At least Sora had gotten her out.

Sora? Where was he? Frantic and foolish, she looked around strangely for Sora, until her eyes fell upon him, unconscious, on the ground next to where she was sitting up. She felt childish for not noticing him before. He had multiple scrapes and cuts all over anywhere where skin was showing, but based on the way Kairi felt, so did she. She figured those would be there from being in a cave about to collapse.

She looked down at Sora. His breathing was steady, and his face was relaxed. But he was not sleeping. Kairi could tell he was definitely not conscious. She closed her eyes, trying to stop the spinning. What was that dream? Was it even a dream? As far as she knew, people don't dream when they pass out. So what was it then? A memory? That’s what it seemed like. But it wasn't her memory! She wasn't even sure if it was a memory! It was about Sora, and she was talking to him. But that wasn't her! She had never talked to Sora like that. It felt so real, as if she really were feeling those emotions right then when it happened. But Sora was younger- about the same age he was when they left the island. Kairi never had any memories with him of anything like that, especially not when he was still young. She wished she could have finished the…whatever it was. She needed more information.

The question was bothering her. She needed to know what had just happened. She needed to talk to Sora. When they first got back to the island, they each shared everything that had happened with each other, and tried to answer each other's questions as best as they could. Sora never mentioned anything about this. So it must not have been real. She tried to remember. Did Riku mention something? Riku's story seemed to be a bit short and suspicious at some parts to Kairi. She could tell he chose his words carefully. Sora seemed to accept it, so that's all that mattered for Kairi, because if it was good enough for him it was good enough for her. That's the way it should be. Right?

Kairi's head was still spinning. She hated headaches. She missed Riku. She needed Riku right now. Did Sora even know he was gone? She looked down to her hand, where she held Riku's note. It hadn’t fallen and Sora hadn't taken it. So he didn't know.

Why did all this happen? Why did Sora even get chosen as the keyblade master? Why was she a princess of heart? Her head was still spinning.

The Keyblade Master. She let that title wring in her head. Wait a minute…Keyblade.

Sora had summoned his keyblade. Mickey told them not too. Mickey also told them to stay put, and Riku left. They were breaking rules, big time, though Kairi didn't think Sora did it on purpose. But why did Riku do it then?

Kairi had so many questions, and so little answers. Sora needed to wake up soon, because she really needed to talk to him.

Almost as if answering Kairi's thoughts, Sora began to stir. His face screwed up and he squinted, trying to sit up very fast as though they were in danger, then realizing his surroundings and calming down. He looked around, as if looking for something, then smiled when his eyes fell on Kairi sitting next to him.

"Kairi!" he exclaimed, genuine happiness in his voice.

Kairi looked back and smiled at him, hard to think of him the same way after her...thing while she was out.

"I'm so happy you are okay!" He stated, looking at her and grabbing her hand almost instinctively, then dropping it upon realizing what he had done and deciding to ignore the incident.

Kairi hated to think of Sora's reaction once his happiness for their survival wore of and the piercing truth of all that was going on hit him. She looked at Sora, opened her mouth to speak, than started to tear up as the realization hit her; hard. Riku was gone, Sora had a million new unanswered questions about him, there childhood play area and link to other worlds was destroyed, and all they had to look forward to was more possibly troubling information from a bottle that now seemed as though it would never come.

She looked at Sora, as if hoping that some of her emotions could be channeled to him by just looking.

Sora was confused at this; it was just a cave! At least him, Kairi, and Riku were all together again. Sora knew it was some kind of a connection to other worlds, but he didn't know how, and figured that it would work itself out in the end; the worlds were always able to find new paths when needed. At least, he thought. He smiled back at Kairi, trying to encourage her, but was surprised when she suddenly burst into tears.

Kairi was crying. Sora was being so dumb. How could he be happy in a time like this? Somehow she felt guilty; As if the whole thing were her fault. Waves of guilt crashed over her; she felt horrible. Sora, on the other hand, seemed so oblivious to it all, and she felt as if by telling him what she knew, she would be ripping his calming smile into pieces. She continued to cry, not knowing what to do, when a realization hit her.

"Sora" she said, once she managed to slow her crying again. "Read-" she sniffed "This."

She finished as her tears cleared up and she was reduced to frequent sniffing.

Sora took the paper immediately. Was this what was making Kairi so sad?

    He began to read.

    Mwa ha hahhhh!!!

    Hopefully you enjoyed it.

    Thank you.

I just wish more people would read it. There's a lot of people out there who like the Creativity Corner and I just feel like hardly anybody has seen this.

    I plan on it XD

    And thank you so much.

This one's kind of open ended. I don't really know how long it will be, but I'm taking my time and describing everything, hoping that I don't move too fast or too slow. I don't know....It's my first ever KH fic.

XD watch it be like 300 chapters

    lol

I love your story! Can't wait for the next chapter.

I like the way you use your words, not repetitive either.

Um, some spelling mistakes, but overall, a pretty good story!

    Keep on writing! :)

    I know.

I'm too lazy to spell check it more than once. I tried not to have too many grammar mistakes, becuase that could make stories too annoying to read. Hopefully this one is tolerable, and thank you.
