    Yea, I wanna make sure I'm doing this right. Anyone who can do this out and tell me if I'm right or wrong will receive... compensation. >D

    Anyway the problem is combustion analysis. 8.14 grams of the compound, 11.19 grams of CO2, and 9.16 grams of H2O. I got CH4O4. Thanks for any answers. =D

    That was my exact reaction when I first read the problem. O.O

    that makes no sense and is barely a question.

    It make sense. It's a combustion reaction. So you have to get the moles of the atoms that compose the CO2 and H2O. I just don't know if I'm doing it right. >_<

    I'm doing Earth Science, I dunno when I'm doing chemisty again -_-;;

    I did it last year, but I never did any combustion reaction ****.

    o.o;; You're on your own.

    Just blow it up. 8D

    Honestly, I'd be much more helpful if I wasn't drugged up with cold medicine. xD;;
    I think you have to do something to make the reactants and product equal...something like that. ~_~

    Nah, he just has to use the formula n=m/Mr if he wants to find the moles

    It's not just finding the moles, you have to also find the formula for the combusted compound, which I think I did correctly but I'm not sure. >_<

    Your format is ugly, I'm not helping. These are real easy anyways.

    You mean:

    H2O + CO2 ---> CH4O4

    Is this what you're saying?

    But what about the compound?

    No, he's saying

    CH4O4 is the unknown that you're solving for and that plus O2 = H2O and CO2.

    No, it's this:

    CH4O4 + O2 ---> CO2 + H2O

    Yup, exactly. xD

    We don't need to balance the equation by the way.

    That's what we're solving for.

    So you're saying if this

    is correct, right?

    No it's not correct. But I'm not sure what the question exactly is to tell you which is correct (I haven't studied chemistry in english and I don't understand much right now), can you quote it as it is (the question)?

    Well I realize that it's not balanced but it doesn't have to be. You have to base your answer on the weights of CO2 and H2O. Plus we're only trying to find the empirical formula.
