    I think it was just for design.
    But if you notice when he fights Roxas, he blocks an attack with that arm so it may be injured.

    Personally, it looks just to be part of Riku's design, just an arm sleeve
    I've never seen a cast ruffled like that. A cast is firm to keep the bones aligned. This looks to be made of cloth.

    Now it's possible it could be a brace to help steady and strengthen his left arm. I wore on whenever I sparred in Tae Kwon do on my left ankle. But still for it to be that it would've covered more of his hand. Otherwise it looks as if it would shift around when he moved around.

    this'll sound weird or whatever, but, maybe it's like something to keep his darkness under control? like a seal? idk, just a guess. nothing really points to it, it's just an idea o.0

    On the Ansem issue, the point is moot. He never gets damaged when in Ansem form.
