I dont know about you guys but I actually liked the 4Kids Dub for YuGiOh especially the uncut English Dub DVDs :( From Crunchyroll
That's a bit of a surprise. I wonder what they do with this. I didn't know 4Kids! had uncut versions of the episodes; I may have to look for those. Maybe they'll do what FUNimation did when they got One Piece away from them (I do not watch One Piece, but I hear that the FUNimation dub is much better than the 4Kid's dub). That is not 4Kid's fault. The show isn't made here in America; it's the Japanese company (I want to say Konami, but I feel I'm wrong) that makes the series. All 4Kid's does is create an English track as well as some animation changes. I do think that the first few seasons of the show was good, but the spin offs killed it for me. You can't blame 4Kid's though. They had the rights to the show that was churning out in Japan, and the show was making a profit. It's sad that people are doing those kinds of things, but they're not stupid. Just greedy.
I believe it was Toei Animation that made the anime, Konami just owns the rights to the cards so it's kinda both of them :) There were only 3 uncut DVDs made, there is a 4th one but Im not sure if it was ever released. There are a total of 12 episodes. The original Japanese soundtrack is there (including the Japanese opening and ending sequences) and some voices are replaced for the uncut while others from the 4Kids dub are still there like Yugi, Joey, Tea,Tristan, Seto and Pegasus. Mai's voice is different in the uncut version which took me a while to get used to because I was used to her other voice. I don't know why they stopped producing the uncut DVDs, they are enjoyable for anyone who grew up with the show as a kid :( Anyway more on topic, I do wonder what company will get the rights to YuGiOh, I hope it doesn't end up like Mew Mew Power (aka Tokyo Mew Mew) and becomes unfinished. Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal just started, Im not a fan of it but it would be a shame if it became unfinished like Tokyo Mew Mew :(
Oh man, and they're right in the middle of Yugioh Zexal too. I seriously hope they don't screw something up like the voice actors. I mean, the voices now aren't great, but they fit, so if they're changed to something terrible, I might never watch Yugioh again
Well, it would be nice if we actually get decisive conclusions to Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and 5D's. GX Ends 1 episode before Yubel Arc is finished, thus we never learn how Jaden comes back and has the powers of Yubel. Season 4. 5D's Ends by removing the Ark Cradle appearing in the sky and saving New Domino, plus Quasar's awesome debut. 4Kids just decided to cut their anime short to just catch up to what's new since Xyz monsters came in and such, they are as you say, just milking whatever they can out of it, not caring to complete it as money speaks louder than actions. If Funimation gets the rights then they'll do a very decent job. Spoiler Secretly hopes for this dream to come true!
I agree nothing would make me happier then to watch new gx. I just hope they don't start yugioh over again. Don't get me wrong I love it, but I couldn't watch it all over again.
Sort of. They made the first season that was never licensed for a variety of reasons (low budget, bizarre changes from the manga, damn near evil protagonist (seriously, if you think the Pharaoh was a dick during Duelist Kingdom, read/watch the early stuff) and much more violent than the following season. Everything afterward (under the original title Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duel Monsters) was Studio Gallop and funded by TV Tokyo. See the aforementioned unlicensed first season.
Well I wasn't to upset with YuGiOh Gx's ending until I found out that there was a 4th season. As for YuGiOh 5d's, I was really looking forward to seeing a English version of Shooting Quasar Dragon's summon.
