4chan VS tumblr.

4chan is dumb but i'm at the point where i don't care bc 99% of the ppl on tumblr are so dumb and want you to tag "TW:SPIDERS" and if seeing a picture of a spider makes you freak out just get off the internet

 

I've just been trying to stay out of it, tbh. I went through and flagged a few things, since porn and gore don't really bother me (thank u homestuck fandom), but beyond that it doesn't really effect me.

Through all of this, I've been rooting for 4chan more and more.

I'm not rooting for anyone because I'm not on either of these sites so I don't care, I just find the idea that everyone should tag everything because someone could get triggered or offended, rather than those people not putting themselves in the position to be offended, obnoxious. I don't want to be all "it's the internet so you have to accept it" but there is a degree of inevitability. I just think people should be more responsible with their sensitivities rather than pushing the responsibility on others.

i hate that tumblr has trivialized 'triggers' to the point where it gets mocked and laughed at. trigger warnings were made for people who would see something and it would trigger the memory of a traumatic experience. you know. like rape. or anything like that. that's fine. that's reasonable. but if you're walking around demanding people tag stuff like tw: spiders, tw: turtleneck sweaters, tw: batman then **** you. you're lame and part of the problem.

Srsly, tho, tumblr threatened to "invade" 4chan (more like 4 really 'active' SJWs) and 4chan responded with a tiny fraction of their usual MO and now tumblr is freaking out as though this wasn't to be expected.

4chan isn't some hive mind. /b/ is as separate in thoughts, actions, and behaviors from other boards as the RP Arena is from the SpamZone. Like, /m/ is super friendly and /co/ just wants every comic to have exposure and scans.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. A few of the crazier crazies went and poked the trolls, and now the trolls are fighting back. Don't get me wrong, /b/ can go fuck off and die for what they're doing, but everyone on the internet knows not to piss them off.

Just, 4chan, in general, is not a place people should aspire to be. The whole thing's kind of a mess.
