I appreciate your enthusiasm and I find it endearing. If these shows and networks provide what you like to watch then more power to you. However, I find myself on other stations a lot of the time. I like Travel channel for Ghost Adventures and a lot of their other programming. ( I cannot wait for Josh Gate's new show!) I like History Channel sometimes. I like it when SyFy channel plays really bad movies all day on the weekends. ( usually with genetically altered sharks and stuff). I like watching River Monsters on Animal Planet because Jeremy Wade has a really interesting voice. I like USA for their NCIS and Law and Order marathons.

I'm not sure if you're being entirely serious. This man does not currently have a license. He has a Ph.D in psychology but that means he cannot do what he is doing. He cannot see patients without a license. It would be like finding out that your family doctor never got their license. He once told the mother of a 5 year old boy that she should stop buying him Barbie dolls and girl clothes because it might turn him gay. The very fact that he was, and continues to be on television giving people advice really concerns me. Because people believe him.

Somehow, I think there's more than meets the eye here. The words he used could have been taken out of context, etc., just like the media often exaggerates things.

 

People trust him BECAUSE he's on TV, it's an awful cycle

 

Unless the statement was preceded by "this is bad advice and you shouldnt listen to me" i dont think context means much. Or unless by playing with barbies the boy displayed homicidal tendencies.
I dont have an opinion of him but I generally dont care for shows like that.

*retail kills a person's soul. I know not everyone is a jerk but the majority seem to be.

 

I think people will get more genre savvy as time goes on. I think the internet and people being born with modern TV is making more people realize it's not as special as it seems, and to be less trusting
It's weird, actually, I was just listening to a podcast and they were talking about Dr Phil and Oprah and stuff, and how they make up a lot of stories to freak out parents
