At least that's what Micheal Pachter says: While it isn't that big of a surprise that the 3DS is gonna cost significantly more than the DS, at least it's nice to know that the price of the 3DS is probably gonna be below $300 and that the games are gonna be slightly higher than most portable games. The latter one shouldn't really be a surprise as well since the games for the 3DS will feature 3D and have better graphics and stuff. I'll probably end up waiting a little bit before I get it though.
With the 3D technology it was pretty much expected, you just know that's gotta cost a lot of bread. However, since Pacther says that it will be more expensive I believe it will be cheaper.
I'm not going to get the 3DS unless I really have to. I personally can't stand this 3D craze going around. I don't think it should cost more than $200 if that. If I'm going to spend 200 dollars, I'm going to buy a Wii, or more PS3 games. I don't think that I should pay as much for a handheld as I would for a console.
The price is to expected along with the game costs. I think I am just going to wait until the 2nd model come out then buy it.
$250? i can get a netbook cheaper than that. and games will most likely cost around $70 apiece, i mean, jesus.
Not only does the 3DS have built-in 3D, but it has built-in glassesless 3D. That's got to be expensive. But yeah, I'll probably wait until a price drop to seriously think about getting one.
It is all about the supply and demand. No doubt there will be enough consumers willing to buy the 3DS "right off the line" when it comes out regardless of price. I highly doubt I get one even though some of the games that will come out for it seem like good ones. I'm just not willing to fork out over $200 for a handheld system (might be the poor college student in me). And like it has been said, they'll probably come up with a newer model soon after anyway.
I kinda expect it to be, it's rumored around to be about $300 right now, to be honest that's kind of a steep price for a handheld; but you gotta think about the 2gb of game storage, downloading games, and constant firmware updates. - I'm curious about the handheld itself, I'm really stuck on if I'll get it or not. - I'll have to wait and see for myself before getting it at launch.
If it doesn't come with a game (Lets go, Ocarina of Time!) I doubt I'll buy it for 300 or more. Hell over 200's steep. But considering what it can do, I guess I understand. But unless I just have extra money to throw around, I'm not shelling out 300 just for the system. Hell, I spent 500 on my ps3 and only play it once a week or so.
That makes sense. There aren't many products on the market now that feature 3D screens without the usage of 3D glasses. Until the technology becomes more ubiquitous its going to require high prices unfortunately.
I can see consumers buying the product straight away, then the sale increasing for maybe a few months. But without a game on the 3DS to make people want to buy it, I would predict the price to fall since demand will. I wouldn't worry. If Nintendo do start using predatory pricing, people won't buy it. That is unless it's coming out for christmas, then you're gonna have to start praying to Jesus that Nintendo lower the price in the next year. And if KH fans are worried about the 3DS title, I wouldn't expect for it to come out till early 2012. Price will be lower by then, I hope.
^This. I won't even bother until they release the new improved version, which most likely will cost even more, though this would lead to a decrease of price for the original 3DS making it slightly more affordable.
It's no surprise it costs so much, because of its 3D thing it's got, but hey. I'd only pay $200+ for the KH:BBS bundle xD Other than that, I'll wait untill it's cheaper. If Kingdom Hearts suddenly decided to throw a game on there before that happens, then I'll worry :\
