y'now, everyone who has bought one complains about how the 3D gives you a headache and whatever, but if you don't want one, why don't you just play with the 3D settings off

I might just wait to see exactly what happens next, because if they can make a 3DS that doesn't kill your brain, I'm more likely to buy that than this one that has good games for it but might turn my brain into mush

Guess what I'm getting for my birthday in 3 weeks >D
I'm glad theres a switch to turn off 3D and to lower, becuase I once tried one at Target and it freaking torn my eyes up.

My friend keeps telling me I should try it at a gamestop or something, but I hardly ever go to gamestop lately, and we don't really go to places like Walmart or Target enough for me to try one. How bad do you eyes hurt after playing?

It depends on how well the eyes can handle the 3D imaging. For some people, it's easy to focus on but for others, it's difficult and it hurts their eyes. Thankfully you can dial it down if your eyes start to hurt and the 3D isn't necessary for most games. It just adds a little more depth(lolpun).

it probably varies from person to person, but i personally can't handle it. i watched a 3 minute 3D Green Latern trailer, and i felt sick for the rest of the day. i was very nauseated and had a raging headache. maybe i need to tone down the 3D effect, but i dread having to gauge what's right for me by judging how sick i feel.

You won' t know until you try it, it' s different for everyone. The reason is that everyone use their brain differently, some people have a "lazy" brain : instead of interpolating the left an right eye pictures to compute a full 3D visual their brain just pick the best picture out of the two and go with it, using the perspective laws to gather information on ... well ... perspective.
When you watch a 2D movie or close one eye you' re still able to tell what' s in front and what' s in the back, right ? However if you were to play tennis with one eye closed you' d really have trouble playing because the game forces you to pinpoint the exact location of the ball in 3D, a vague guess based on perspective isn' t enough to play well.
That' s basically what the 3DS forces your brain to do, pinpoint EVERYTHING in real 3D ALL THE TIME (which is immediately tiresome for "lazy brain" people, and eventually gets tiresome for the others).

Do you happen to know how the cross eyed 3D technique works ? I' ve known it for years, I' m comfortable enough with it to watch entire movies that way (whether I have to cross or "uncross" my eyes) so I figure I wouldn' t have any trouble with a 3DS (still haven' t tried one). It doesn' t give me headaches, however I have to admit that playing a cross eyed 3D game (Metal Gear Acid 2 on PSP can be played like this) gets annoying quickly, the constant conscious effort I do to cross my eyes correctly plus the whole 3D gimmick get in the way of thinking about the game itself.

yeesh, I hate having to cross eye for long periods of time. And I'm not even sure I'm doing it right, because when I do it nothing it clear. There's a middle section, but that doesn't mean it looks like I'm looking through glasses fogged up to heck

It sucks that Nintendo, stated themselves the loss was because of the low sales for the 3DS. Personally, I'm glad I can actually get another one plus - with free games. I'm sold!!! Some people saw this coming because of the price to even make the thing was not over 200 and the not so great games at launch.

well, you've gotta get money back for what you made it for. Too bad for them they bit off more than they could chew by selling it at such a high price right away

I think that this price reduction may also be a reply to the equally competitively price of the upcoming PSV. Being that the holidays are approaching and the possibility of the PSV being released for Christmas the 3DS has to be more competitive. I hope this reduction applies worldwide. I'd be much happier with a price of £160 then £190.

The 3DS annoys me. I don't want to spend money on something that's going to end up being like my old DS with slightly better graphics--I am one of the people who gets headaches from the 3D, and besides that I just think it's stupid. And yet, I'm going to miss out on all the great games I know it's going to have because it has to, it's the latest Nintendo hand-held, and hand-helds in general attract excellent games because they aren't bogged down by million-dollar budgets just to get the protagonist's nose to wrinkle properly. I'm worried it's heading in that direction yet again.

And by the way, does the 3DS play regular DS games? I haven't even heard a conclusive word on that. Might be a small point in its favor if yes.

Ok, so I know I'd have something to do while I wait for it to get in gear. That's nice.

And as much as I'd love to cash in on that lovely bundle, I don't have the money right now. Time to start beggin'...

the graphics are ALOT better by the way. it's not just slightly. looking at Ocarina of Time 3D and Resident Evil Mercenaries is a good example.

Zelda is GORGEOUS on the 3DS! <3<3<3

Thought I'd get that out. Anyhoo! To be honest, I'd rather have all these extra games than a cheaper 3DS. I bought the 3DS £50 cheaper than the retail price anyway so there's not much loss in it for me. I want to get my hands on some of those GBA games.
