i am definitely biased because Abyss is one of my favorite games but

This would be more problematic, imo, if the narrative hadn't consistently punished him when he started to get deep into it. Tear, Jade, Anise, Guy, and even Ion and Mieu, called him out on whining and told him to do what he needed to do. (Excluding Asch here since, well. That's his shtick.) Luke was definietly a big, pompous, ******y, whiny baby brat in the first part of the game (pre-haircut), and continued to whine and be hard on himself into the final part, but everyone has called him out on it, and he's over time proven to take action and put aside the "woe is me".

This would've been nice to have, no disagreements there.

But yeah. The game has a heavy focus on character development; while Luke was a whiny baby,he gets better. It's his growth that ties into the main theme of the game, that your destiny and who you are aren't set in stone. If you want to change something or yourself for the better, just go out and do it.

    Beautiful! Now then,

    Retail:
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon- Nothing to right, this is objectively brilliant
Mario and Luigi: Dream Team- One of the best RPGs I've played, very fun and even better if you like dialogue
Cave Story 3D- if you haven't played it or love the game enough to revisit- turned into an overnight rarity
Donkey Kong Country Returns- If you don't have a Wii or didn't pick it up there
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked/Shin Megami Tensei IV- Just pick one based off artstyle and gameplay speed and get the other later down the road. Too much SMT can kill a man
    Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward

That's a good platter of options to go along with whatcha got. Do some research and see where they fit in, as for eShop....

    eShop:

The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave/The Denpa Men 2: Beyond the Waves: GET THESE GAMES. JUST DO IT. IT'S AN RPG WHERE YOU CAPTURE ALLIES VIA WI-FI SIGNALS IN THE AIR AND THEN GO ON AN EPIC ADVENTURE. JUST LISTEN TO ME HERE.
HarmoKnight- Rhythm action game made by Pokemon team.
Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale- Very neat gem, short though.
Gunman Clive- IT'S TWO DOLLARS. TWO. NO EXCUSES
Dillon's Rolling Western- Nothing to say... Hi. Are you enjoying my list?
Sakura Samurai- That's good to hear. I'm having fun myself.
VVVVVV- If you didn't play it on Steam, get it here. EGORAPTOR APPROVED

If I had to pick out of your list and these recs of things to MUST HAVE, I'd get Kid Icarus: Uprising, Animal Crossing, Pokemon Y (MY BRUTHAAAA), Luigi's Mansion, any of the RPGs I listed, Denpa Men, and Gunman Clive.

    ....friendship grumps.

I don'r call it character development simply because it's constant. Even when he's over his rich boy ways, even when he's done crying and bulling, he does not stop complaining and b*tching.

..Plus the haircut scene was dumb.

Like right after the haircut scene he legitimately makes a change and tried not to complain so much. I recall a scene where he even stopped himself mid sentence and was something like "I shouldn't talk like that".

It's not like you should expect him to completely change as a character immediately, he spent like 7 years being a whiny *****.

The haircut scene was cliché, but well done IMO.
