12 districts, a total of 36 schools, went into lock down today.

A man threatened the schools via phone, and said he had guns, bombs, & poison.

He also said he would make the Virginia Tech incident look like nothing.

Well, discuss. I think this is pathetic. I think something like this will happen every year, during April.

    Some people are just nuts.

    Edit: This is in California.

    They are searching for him.

I believe he is 29 years old, 190 pounds, brown eyes, and brown hair.

    It's on MSN news. >_>

They also have a description of his car.

Seems like a pretty pointless thing to do...I mean, I can understand why they went into lockdown, but sheesh! The guy didn't even mean it, apparently.

Surely it's better though that they did go into "lock-down" rather than disregard it. Better safe than sorry with another 30+ dead because of some jackass with psychotic tendancies (spelling?), WTF is wrong with people in today's society? Seriously it's worrying! Hmph I hope they catch them, they should be locked up just for saying it even if he didn't mean it. people like that are so pathetic it almost makes me feel sorry for them!

My god, again? What idiots we can be! I hope they lock him up, and lock him up GOOD.

I can't believe anyone anymore; the bastards we call Americans.

"but threatening and not showing up

You prefer he actually did it?....

Also, the reason Virginia Tech was so bad was BECAUSE they disregarded the first incident. If they had gone on lock down in the first place, the event might have been much more isolated.

Not to mention the amount of deaths could have been reduced...maybe. However, what's done is done and I am no longer going to dwell on the Virginia Tech topic.

Does anyone apart from me think that the whole call thing was pretty much a gag? Obviously someone trying to cause panic because they thought it would be 'funny'? Possible. This world does have alot of people not right in the head.

I wonder if the police could somehow trace the call...or maybe I've been watching too much 'Numb3rs'.

They can, though I have no idea how long it takes or if the phone duration has to be this or that. But I imagine if 911 can do it, so can the police.

Yes, I'm pretty sure police can track telephone numbers up to a certain point. I think it's good the schools did go into lock-down; had it been serious, who knows what may have happened or how many would have been killed?

A few weeks ago, we had a bomb scare at my school because someone wrote "I'm going to blow up the school on such-and-such-date" (I can't remember what day it was) on the bathroom wall. We still went into lockdown, and the police were there just as a precaution. I'd prefer being safe and inconvinced than injured or dead.

Not that people are nuts, but also gullible.

To think people find it funny to mess with others like this is beyond me.

Well I suppose stunts like that just go to show how "civilised" and "advanced" the human race is! I don't think I want to be able to understand why people do things like this! Over a million years of evolution to become this? What a waste!

It's those same people that are in desperate need of belief in something. I don't care what it is, but I always get the feeling they think there's nothing spectacular in the universe, and so they simply waste away.

It was a joke though, right?

Or is it another 'tortured soul' with the weight of the world on their shoulders who feel the need to surpass yet another tragedy at schools in America and try to outdo previous endeavours made by those evil b******s? Desperate cry for attention, or not?
