Destiny feels fantastic to play. I spent a week in the beta just playing.

As for what went wrong? The only complaint I see from people that's common is "too short." .... To me, saying an MMO is too short because of the single player story is like criticizing a fighting game for the arcade mode only being eight battles. The point is to just play and improve and give yourself an edge in raids and pvp. "BUT ALL THE PVP DOESNT HAVE LEVEL CRAP" but not Iron Banner, which has unique rewards and loot.

OH MAN WoW WHAT MMO IS THAT LIKE

Not necessarily. I don't expect much from a lot of things. I don't expect much from the Call of Duty series, for example. But even if they exceed those expectations, I tend to dislike them anyway because they still don't meet my standards. If I expect a game to be two points below my standards and it ends up being one point below them instead, it's still not good enough. I have expectations, and then I have demands/desires for what will actually make it good. If the demands aren't met, it's not good. My expectations don't change that.

I tried liking Destiny, but the campaign is just really really boring to me ._.

Crucible would have been ok, but there's like, no matchmaking options.

i'm not looking for reasons to dislike them. i enjoyed titanfall but after a week or so it really hit me how little content there was in the game, and all the dlc added was maps. no new modes, no new weapons or abilities. it was disappointing.

i expected watch_dogs to be better and bigger than it was, but it was just boring to me.

i do too. i still find them disappointing.

Destiny isn't bad. It's disappointing because Bungie hyped it up like it was this huge game but it's not. The missions ended up all being the same. The competitive multiplayer is lacking. It's still fun (with friends) but overall I expected more.

This is why I never buy hype train tickets. I watch gameplay or try it, and if I like it, I throw it on my list of games to buy. When I get the hinkering, I pick it up.

sometimes you don't even have to be hyped, y'know? you can just read interviews and articles about these games or watch videos. i played both titanfall and destiny's betas and i was disappointed to find that there wasn't that much more content in the full release.

    what about gta 5?
    and the last of us?
    and sleeping dogs?

those already are the best games of 2014. and we know this because they already came out before. so clearly, we are making some great progress.

They're judging by what they see. Can't blame them, but it's definitely a lot different, yes.

Eh, we've had the talk where I just enjoy playing and replaying games. If you want content, Hyrule Warriors is probably 120 hours worth of content, but at what cost? You're doing very similar things in Legend mode each time you're doing something new. If you want to play the game more, do it up, ya know? I always cite masterpiece games like SotC, DOOM, and OoT here- they didn't have much content, but they're so fun to play you'll sound insane criticizing them. Most point and clicks fit in here too, and fighting games. That's why I stick by: if I'm having fun playing what's in front of me, I'm not going to complain. There won't be a perfect game that delivers on every itch, it's just not possible. Besides, the game has to stand on its own. In ten years? Interviews won't matter, only the game itself. It's weird because we live in the present, so that stuff seems to matter now, but I didn't need to read DOOM interviews to realize I had a design masterpiece in front of me- I sought that stuff out to learn more about my enjoyment.
