Then learn to stop quickly. It's really not hard, just be who you really are. Like someone else said, girls are not a different species.

If you say something stupid, you laugh it off. It happens. And she will understand. She'll probably say a few stupid things too without you realizing it because believe it or not she's probably just as nervous as you are.

well, you're more likely to say something stupid if you actually try really hard to think of what to say and then just mess up than actually talking like yourself. Trust me, I've done it plenty of times.

eh, I'd have to say wait and see. Most likely a 93% chance that it's too soon.

Give it a hot second dude. Do you even know anything about this girl? Get to know her a decent amount first.

    Shouldn'ts
    - Cough or say "So yeah..." or some other dumb phrase in a moment of silence. Not all silences are awkward, and even if they are, try to solve them with a little more...poise. See below for a suggestion.
    - Make a move on her. A first date is generally too soon. If she enjoyed it, you'll still get plenty of chances.
    - Use "witty" pick-up lines. It might turn out well, or she'll notice that you're not being yourself. All in all, not worth the risk.
    - Voice your opinion about anything and everything. The more you voice your opinion, or the stronger you voice it, the greater the chance that she will disagree fundamentally and have second thoughts about dating you. I'm not saying that you can never speak your opinion in front of her, but save that for when you get to know her better.

    Shoulds
    - Make sure you smell good. Girls have keen noses. Don't go overboard with the cologne/deodorant though.
    - Be a gentleman. Pay for her, compliment her on how she looks when you first see her, and again when you see the opportunity fit.
    - I understand that you're going to the movies. Ask her if and how she enjoyed it. Show an interest in her opinion.
    - Think of a few conversation subjects beforehand. Bring them up when an awkward silence threatens to befall you, but don't play out your hand entirely. Always keep one or two in reserve.

    Good luck.

Just be nice to her. I hate ****** bags that treat woman with no respect and expect all respect back. Just be cool dont expect to much from her and dont rush anything just let stuff happen.

y'now, I thought it was a given that the one who was asking the person out was the one paying. How come we keep bringing that up?

    I hate stereotypes.

You would be surprised actually. People are cheap and sometimes won't pay.

Because there are still people who think it's a given to pay only for your own stuff.

Actually, the one who asks the other person out, is supposed to pay. It's dating 101.

That depends on The situation, really depends on how you read her. Most likely it's too soon though.

Though, when you're dating someone, you need to analyze what happens, if she really hints at you to make a move, you read it and interpret it as you may.
1st dates are never easy, but that's part of the fun, being super nervous etc :)

    When are you going out?

Yeah, it seems to depend on the people too, though. I know plenty of people who prefer going dutch on the first few dates, and those who have only the guy paying, and in some rare case of a girl asking a guy out and paying.
It really depends on the people and the situation.

The problem with that is that the line can more blurry than you might think. Imagine this:
Person A: Wanna go out this weekend?
Person B: Sure, how about *insert something expensive here*?
So you see, person A asked person B out, but person B turned it into something high-cut and pricy. Is it still fair to make person A pay for the whole thing? No, I agree with TheOnly9one on this.

Isn't that an indication that this person might be a money grabbing ass who you may not want to go on a date with? Maybe i'm reading too much into it. Atleast what I see it as is more:

Person A: You wanna go out this weekend to *insert affordable date* at *insert time of date*?
However, i'm not the one for knowing the ritual of starting a date. In a relationship sure, but at the beginning I know nothing.

Even if she brings it, step up and impress her by paying for it :) It's a nice gesture and will score you points :)

As for what I said before, I'm not saying you should or not, but it's what the "experts" (researchers) say, it's how its supposed to be, I'm not saying it's right, but that's how it is according to the "rules"
