But yeah, the sad thing is this probably happens all the time. This one just hap pend to make it on to the news because of her media-savvy aunt.

Muslims are doing PLENTY, it just doesn't get media attention like the bad things. Everyone only wants to hear about the bad things. I'm sick of people (no offense to you) asking why Muslims are idly letting other Muslims misuse their religion, when they're doing so much to combat it in reality. It shouldn't even be their responsibily, this shouldn't be expected of them, but they're taking it upon themselves to do it anyway, because it's what a good Muslim would do.

Normally it would not be the responsibility of "normal" Muslims. However, when I hear Muslims go on about how they have it so bad with them always being lumped in with the terrorists I wonder, what are they actually doing to combat that image?

I think the Danish cartoons incident was pretty clear. They showed what the West though of Islam, and then the many protests (mostly violent), burnings and vandalism proved the West to be right.
