I disagree. Although Islam is a wrong religion with misguided policies, this is a matter of state not religion. It is how prisons are everywhere

Agreed. That's just wacko to me. She couldn't do a thing about it to stop it and they blame her anyways! Makes me a little angry that people would actually do that...

you nut, being raped and a Harlot are different. Raped is getting attention when not asking for it and a Harlot sleeps with guys for money. its called a prostitute. Raped is like all from the guy and nothing from the girl. gosh how do you explain it?

I think that they were all part of a major cult, so they thought it was sacrilegious. When you think about it, it kinda makes sense

The point is, they are Islamic. They are following a particular interpretation of the Islamic faith but they are still Muslim.

Why, I wonder, do other Muslims do nothing to reign in their obviously insane "brother's of the faith"? Many British Muslims complain that they are unfairly stereotyped as terrorists and extremists. If they want it to stop happening, then they stop the "Muslims" who do these things.

Same applies for any and all major religions.

Doesn't matter. Some places mess with the laws of a certain religion(s).

Islam is actually a violent religion. Hell, it says in the Qu'ran that violence should be used, such as to convert people to their religion. It's actually no different than Christianity when it comes down to this stuff. This is a prime example of how radical this religion can be.

How do you stop a Christian extremist from kicking their kid out on the street for getting pregnant as a teen?

How do you stop parents from not allowing their daughter to have an abortion of the same kid when physically she's not ready to carry one?

How do you stop a person from believing that they should donate thousands of dollars a year to a church based on the belief that it'll give you passageway to heaven?

People have done heaven's gate, a ritual where you basically kill yourself all in a mass suicide. They've done a religion where you tried to overthrow the government, which ended up with a lot of people dead.

This was all within the United States. I won't touch the Mormon group, I like the group, don't like the polygamists.

Think about it this way: Bush's biggest supporters was the religious right because of gay marriage and abortion, McCain had the biggest group also from that group. They're considered the largest religious group out there, mostly evangelicals and born again, like my dad.

My aunt did believe that the last days were upon us because Obama was running. When he won, she was hospitalized from the news. She's out now, fyi. This came basically from the religious right, she believed everything she was told.

It is scary, but you have to see a few things here: One, there's always going to be extremists. In any religion. Two, you can't change their beliefs once it's deeply embedded in them. Unless they decide to change, no one else can. People can't change or stop what is so deeply embedded, the people won't believe anything else, or your life will be endangered for trying to stop it.

To comment on the last post... The death sentence was made from the bible. An eye for an eye is basically where the death sentence comes from. Crusades came from spreading their religion, and god-knows what else.

It's not the religion that's the problem, it's people.

The jist of what Sara said: Don't try to force change on people, it will only turn into conflict.

But it's obvious that something has to be done to help the many people being treated unfairly.
