    Sup people of the Internet!!!

Im 13 years old and lately ive been getting into drinking Coffee (and when I say lately-I mean yesterday-Night) and since then and now ive had roughly 13 mugs-(I dont even drink that much water in that time-space)-and ive been wondering-is there consequence i drinking so much coffee at such a young age (other that having Coffee Stained teeth)?

And ive noticed since i start drinking coffee-im not as tired and can concentrate better than ive done in a long time!

So yeah-feel free to tell about the pros and cons about drinking coffee at age 13-or in general lol

i think it can cause some kind of cancer but i dont know what kind.

(From Answers.com)~ Is drinking coffee at a young age bad for you?

Yes, the caffeine is unhealthy for you. It also acts as a diuretic, so it depletes the body's supply of water. So if you drink coffee, you should also drink extra water.

so i dont really know how good or bad coffee is for you.seeing how you can concentrate better, i guess it's good for you.

It can stain your teeth and stunt your growth. So they say at least. The thing that freaks me out about coffee and energy drinks in general are the way that people get so physically dependent on it. Like, they can't do anything in the morning unless they have coffee.

I really would suggest staying away from it, especially since you're so young. It's not the worst thing you can do, but it's not really a good habit either.

If you're in need of energy, I'm sure there are other methods. Coffee tastes like crap and has some outright frightening health defects. I'm not even saying you should drink coffee at age 13, I'm voting against drinking it at all. Soda has enough kick to keep you going. If you really need the boost, I'd try that Five-Hour Energy drink. I've heard good things about it.

I'm a routine caffeine drinker. I have Starbucks (usually Vanilla Latte) every morning on my way to class. Sometimes twice a day. Late at night, I make my own coffee. Personally, I love the taste. A friend of mine described coffee as the "life blood that fuels the dreams of champions."
I don't need coffee to function for the rest of the day, but I don't get much sleep at night and don't always have time for breakfast. Added with the fact that I'm a slow starter, coffee helps me get through the morning and then I can handle the rest.
I mean, Soda and energy drinks aren't exactly all that great.
If you're looking for energy, 5 Hour is good, but, in my experience, leaves you kind of out it.

You know, regular intake of fruit and veg, regular exercise and a good night sleep you'll have all the energy you need.

But to answer this lad's question, no, i don't think you should be drinking coffee, especially so much in such a small space of time...unless you want be turn out like this.

In all seriousness, coffee can be an addictive drink and folk can become dependant on it. Have a read at this if you'd like to know reasons not to.

Caffeine is a drug, and is addictive. People seem to dismiss it because it's in so many things, but coffee is addictive because of the amount of caffeine in it. Caffeine isn't good for you. It's not as bad as, say, heroine of course, but don't think it's harmless. Coffee stains your teeth really bad, and high amounts of caffeine at a young age can stunt your growth.

If you're really itching for that coffee flavour, eat a Coffee Crisp bar.

I started drinking it when I was like, 10 or so.
My growth is perfectly normal. I'm taller than most people I know. I'm fine.

I didn't drink it constantly, though. Only a small amount a day, and lately I drink it on occasion.

    NO NO NO
I had that stuff once. It might have been me, but not only did that stuff taste rancid and disgusting, but within about two hours, I felt completely exhausted and weak. I don't suggest it at all.

Same here. I've always been smaller than everyone else because I was premature (3.5 pounds at birth)
I used to drink a few sips of coffee as a child every few days. Maybe that wasn't enough to "stunt my growth." I stayed smaller than everyone else until puberty and I shot up. I'm now one of the tallest in my family and most of my friends.
I'd say it differs from person to person. The one time I had it, I actually liked the flavor, but it was a little strong for me. But it had me up over 5 hours, but made me extremely restless.

What about tea? I drink that quite regulary but I haven't noticed any stunted growth or other problems. Although I drink mine quite milky, so I suppose there is less cafeine. Also, is it true there is less cafeine in tea than coffee?

-I used to drink tea-very milky and very sugary! but I actually start having weird dreams about soggy brown sugar getting spread all over mouldy bread and being forced to eat it-Total turn off!!!-Never had tea since!

I'm 15 and I've never had a cup of coffee. I don't really plan to, mostly because of the health problems they can develop. I'd stay away from it personally, but if it works for you, great.

I did that too a couple of years ago. It's just a phase. Eventually you realise that caffine's a drug and it would suck to get addicted to it, because then you get none of the benefits, but feel worse if you don't get it. As such, you'll give it up and only take it irregularly on occasion.

One example doesn't prove anything actually.

Anyways...Coffee is probably alright for you if it's taken once in awhile. Being dependent on coffee though is just bad for you. Taking too much of anything is bad for you but...I've been drinking Gatorade nearly everyday for a few years now(not for "energy" but because I'm fond of the taste) and I don't really work out so...it depends on the person as well I guess. I don't really understand the need to take energy drinks or coffee to stay focused. @-@ Sheer force of will should be enough to keep someone going. <<
