Xika stopped, sitting on the curb of the sidewalk. Around her, people went about their normal lives, happy and content. She knew better, but why ruin it for them?

What look like a cell phone on Xika's waist began to ring.

 

Startled, Xika jumped, then moved quietly into an alleyway. She fiddled with the cell, finally turning it on. "Hello?"

 

"This is Mixt. We need you back at HQ"

 

"And where is HQ now?" she asked, not keeping the sarcastic tone from her voice. "Did they manage to keep the hot tubs I remember so well?"

 

"Just get over here" Mixt said, not wanting to waste time with this. "There is likely to be a battle soon and Gex is recovering"

 

Xika sighed. "Because I just love doing what you say." she hung up before he could reply, and started jogging. Soon she arrived, thanks to Magick's inability to imagine up details.

 

Mixt: Well I haven't seen you for a while. think you're still up for this?

 

Xika rolled her eyes. "I don't want to do anything, right now. But what I want doesn't matter, does it?" She faced Mixt, watching him, her sadness hidden.

 

Mixt: So what are you looking for Xika?

 

"What do you mean?" she asked, sighing.

 

Mixt: We gave you a temporary reprive and when you return you're still thinking on something else. I want to know what it is.
