Rae Anne listened to the announcer with it's static background and only felt even more afraid. She looked over at those in her group for a moment before walking over to the small box and putting on the headset and listening to her instructions. Without bothering to look back at her group again, she headed out.

When she was finally out of their view, she let tears pour out and wiped them away as she took the route she was instructed to take. She turned right at the corner and went straight like she was told. Her tears were eventually replaced by her uncaring face again. She didn't care if they were monitoring her and could see her crying, she didn't want to show her tears to her potential killers... or victims.

When she got to the room, she noticed she was the first one there. She looked around in search for the box they told her to find. When she found the box with the unassembled gun, she took a deep breath and then rushed into trying to assemble it.

    Sanica
walked along to the challenge room. It was plugged into the darkness. They told her she had stepped into a large room, and to feel around the ground. She bent down carefully, feeling the hard cold floor. Her hands were like ice, the heat moving to protect her core. She felt something hard, like a sheet of metal. No, she was certain that was what it was. She held it. She put it in an angle. "I remember my brother explained this to me." She thought. "Knights would angle their shields on incoming attacks, because it worked better. But in reality, there was math behind it. It's a longer distance when the metal shield was on an angle, and harder for something to penetrate through. That's how you can remember it for your math test, ok?" She remembered nodding, not really understanding. Math was never her thing. Either way she angled it as she picked it up, and took it with her to the challenge room.

KILLS - NONE MOOD - TERRIFIED

When the voice of the P.A. system faded, he looked around to see if anyone was going to move for the box. It was clear from a cursory glance that none of them wanted to. Honestly, he didn't want to either, but someone had to do it. Someone had to go so that they wouldn't be punished. With a sigh as he adjusted his glasses, he walked over to the box in the room and took the headset from within. He held it and, with a cold chill running down his spine, walked out of the room.

After getting out of the room, he put on the headset and followed the instructions that came from it. He was told to turn left in the darkness of the halls, and then take a right. There would be a room just before the challenge room where he was instructed to feel around on some tables for a knife. Clearly it would be his weapon to fight against God knows who. He fumbled around in the darkness, feeling out for the singular blade that would spell life or death for him. After finally finding it, he went towards the room where the challenge would be taking place.

He had some experience with a knife, having learned a few things from his grandfather who was a hunter in his youth. With knife in hand, he stood in front of the door and reached for the door handle. His heart was racing, his hands were clammy. Sweat streamed down his face as he was confronted with the reality that he would have to kill one of his fellow students in order to survive. With a measly knife, he wouldn't be able to take down any one of their heavily armed captors. His breathing grew more erratic as the thoughts rushed through his mind.

Without further hesitation, he slowly opened the door and into the lit room. In front of him was a girl rushing to assemble something, her back turned to him. It was like they wanted him to find her like that. Slowly, he approached her, trying his hardest not to make a sound. He tried to control his heavy, uneven breathing, though it became harder with each step he took. This was a human life he was about to take. Not just that, but the life of someone he knew. He had no idea if he would even be able to go through with it before someone else got to him. Fear filled his heart as he continued his slow approach.

"Heh, nobody volunteering? fine I guess I'll head off and bust some skulls a bit" Derron said scratching the back of his head lazily as he took a step forward "Oi if I don't return make sure you damn well kill these mofos" Derron said walking until he reached the box that he was instructed to head towards. He loathed taking orders from these mysterious people but there was not much he really could do at moment. He needed to continue to live, it was simple as that really. Derron would not die here, but if he did he sure as hell will not die easily.

Opening up the box, Derron curiously raised an eyebrow as he stared down at the headset before shrugging his shoulder and placed it on over his head. Derron continued to walk towards the challenge room and during his trek a voice spoke from the headset and began to speak to him

"Oh is that so? well then thats...interesting" Derron said silently with a smirk as he began to crack his knuckles. There was so many ways that he could go about this and despite being royally pissed, he was actually quite excited about whats to come. He continued to walk on but suddenly paused and stood in one spot.

KILLS - NONE MOOD - EXTREMELY UNNERVED

He had started to think he would pass out from all of the tension seizing up his body. His heart was racing a million miles a minute, and his vision had started to blur a little bit. It might've just been his glasses fogging up from his body heat, but regardless, the anxiety made it no less intense. Anything could happen in the next moment. Anything. He could have his hands stained with blood, or he could be the one whose blood stains someone else's hands. Only time could tell what happens next.

An so things would begin soon. The very instructions still rang through his mind and Derron was not somebody who would merely ignore what was said. He was sure to be the only few with great fighting skills and though he seemed like a meathead he loved to at least disagree with this notion at some degree. Knowledge was power and cockiness was a weakness. He was so sure of his power, but he dare not keep to that.

For now Derron did as he was told and clenched his fist and remained near towards the entry of the room. Plans were just roaming through his mind and he just continued on thinking about who to take out first and what benefit he would gain from doing so. His mind was steeled and he kept a good eye for whatever was to come.

Her heart was racing more and more with every single mistake she made when assembling. She had never assembled a gun before and in these circumstances she really wish she did. She was in such an uncontrolled state that she never realized how open she was making herself with her freaking out. By the time she felt the final piece click together, she heard a breath and a footstep and she felt the drumming in her chest worsen and worsen.

Who will be the first to die? Can Rae Anne make the gun in time? Will Nolan stab her before she finishes? Does Sancia's shield protect her? Is Derron hidden well enough?

In a hasty attempt to finish putting the gun back together in time, Rae Anne's shaky hands cause the slide to jam. She pinches her hand, drawing a bit of blood, but successfully manages to finish it. The barrel of the pistol goes up, immediately directed at the girl across from her holding the sheet of metal up. Rae Anne hesitates to pull the trigger at first, but the familiar voice crackles in her ear and gives a quick shock to her neck. Her finger slips and the trigger is released. The loud sound of a bang echoes off the concrete walls. All eyes are suddenly on the girl on the floor.

Blood dripped down her chest as she failed to properly defend herself from the attack, even when given the shield. Rae Anne's sudden attack left Nolan too stunned and afraid to use the knife. It fell to the ground at his feet. She whips around to see him behind her, but doesn't shoot. A sound in the corner leaves her startled and Derron is spotted. She begins to lose feeling in her arms and drops it back on the table beside her.

Rae Anne held her arm in pain and her heavy breathing became more and more apparent. Her arms went to her neck as her breathing continued and she tried to not look at the other two in the room. She had been trying to maintain a certain composure. She didn't want to show pain and she didn't want to show her fear. But she couldn't anymore.

Rae Anne kept looking at Nolan in particular, he was the easiest for her to stare at and keep the student she killed out of her mind. She didn't want to know, she didn't want to look. But it was eating away at her. Rae Anne quickly turned her head to look at her victim and an agonizing noise left her mouth and she quickly looked back at Nolan and her eyes were filled with horror.

She recognized the girl, but she couldn't come up with the name on spot. One she would see just walking through the hallway to get to class. Someone she crossed paths with everyday at the same time. When she went to math if she recalled correctly. Sometimes she would accidentally knock into her because it was always when walking around the corner. She almost wished at that moment that maybe, just maybe, she could have given a polite apology every time it happened.

Rae Anne looked over at Derron for a just a moment and then covered her mouth with the hand that was bleeding, and she tried to hold back all of the tears she needed to cry out. She let out short cries out, then couldn't hold on any longer and she covered her face completely and let it all out.

Derron's eyes widened at the sudden event that occurred before him and though he prepared himself for such an event, he couldn't help but feel something at the sudden event. His teeth gritted and Derron tsked as he prepared himself. The other two foolishly dropped their weapons before the situation was over, but Derron was no fool to immediately continue the fight even though there was a possibility it was over.

If anything was to come he would definitely make an attempt for the weapons as he was without one, but for now he needed to keep his guard up. It was just like that bus driver that died, the girl would follow him along with many more. It angered him greatly as he stared over at the girl. What sickened him the most was that he was thinking more about taking that shield away from that corpse of hers.

Just how many more time would it be that he would repeat that same thing about killing his captors. They surely had their reasons and they definitely knew what they were doing, so how was it that Derron would be able to take care of these bastards? He was just some punk that could beat the crap out of idiots. Just thinking about his weakness only made him even more pissed. Starring over at the girl with the gun, Derron closed his eye with a sigh before walking up to the felled girl and stared down at her, ready to take her weapon if need be.

KILLS - NONE MOOD - PURE TERROR

His eyes were wide with shock. The ringing in his ears slowly died down as he continued to stare in disbelief. His glasses drooped down as he stood there, terrified to no end. He wanted all of this to just be a horrible nightmare. The moment something was about to happen, he'd just wake up in his bed, just fine and dandy. He didn't want to accept the truth that lay in front of him. No matter how hard he tried and tried, he wouldn't wake up. This isn't a horrible dream. What he was experiencing right now was the harsh reality of death. The teenage girl lay before everyone in the room, now nothing more than a corpse in a room.

A knot formed in his stomach as he backed away from the body as quickly as he could. "Oh God," the words slipped out of his mouth. It wasn't like he hadn't seen something die before. Going on hunting trips with his grandfather, he had gotten used to the sight of dying animals. But this, this was on a whole different level. Watching the life drain out of a human being was far different from seeing an animal lose its own. Both emotionally and mentally.

The image of the poor girl, lying there with blood pooling underneath, would be forever etched into his memory. It must be even worse for the one who had pulled the trigger. Rae Anne, as he recalled, must be feeling ten times worse than he was. She would have to live with the guilt of killing her for the rest of her life, however long that may be. Reading about these killing games is vastly different than experiencing it first hand. Second hand accounts can never truly capture the emotions that run through you in those instances. They can only give a basic look into how the process goes. However, until you experience it yourself, you will never truly understand how it goes. He could have gone his whole life without ever having to feel any of this. Any of this terror or panic. Any of the paranoia that someone will kill you. Any of the knot-inducing sights you'll no doubt see when a cruel game like this plays out.

That's what this was to those sick bastards that captured them: A game. A game that they've designed with no possibility of winning. No matter how much any of them wanted to get out, there was only one way. One way that would break any sane person's mind.

No matter how much he wanted to, he couldn't bring himself to look away from the body. He could only stare in paralyzed horror at the sight in front of him. This was the reality of their situation. The cold, hard truth that most people do not want to hear. A truth that everyone refuses to see. One that they drown out with mindless drivel. He wished he could do all of that. Refuse to see or hear it, but that was impossible. The truth has already entered his mind. All he could do was accept its cruel embrace.

The speaker on the wall crackled and a new voice echoed into the room.
"That was an exciting start to the game. As your reward, there is a key hanging from the wall below the speaker. It unlocks the box on the shelf opposite this wall. Inside you will find flashlights. These will help you find your way. Enjoy."

Rae Anne's head quickly shot up at the announcement and she let out a low growl and screamed at the speaker, "FLASHLIGHTS?!"
Rae Anne ran at the wall and grabbed the key and unlocked the box on the opposite wall and four flashlights were inside. Rae Anne grabbed two of them and screamed back, "OH CONGRATULATIONS WE'VE MADE THINGS ENTERTAINING FOR YOU. LET US RECEIVE FLASHLIGHTS."

She walked back over to her table in anger and grabbed the gun and spoke through a sob, "FUCK ALL OF YOU." she pointed the gun around the ceiling and then pointed it back towards the floor and looked at the other two and spoke, "I'm sorry..." she whispered almost as if she was choking before she turned around and left through the door she entered in, turning on the flashlight so she could make her way back to her group.

KILLS - NONE MOOD - DAZED

After hearing that they were getting rewarded flashlights for the first death of the game, Rae Anne lashed out at their captors. He didn't blame her one bit. It had to be hard for her to be the one to have pulled the trigger. Thinking about it now, if he had plunged the knife into her body, if he had dragged its blade across her throat, he would be in the same position as her. The thought of it was terrifying. In a small way, he had felt a sense of relief that he had not killed anyone. However, that was a feeling dwarfed by the myriad of emotions and thoughts running through him.

Once he grabbed his flashlight, he went for the door he had come through. The flashlight turned on with a click as he shut the door behind him. He took a look around the room he got the knife from and saw that there were various supplies there. Food, blankets, matches, a few knives, and several other things. He had considered grabbing a few weapons to give to his friends, but he couldn't risk getting his group punished for taking something he shouldn't have. They were most likely monitoring him somehow in the darkness. Still, there were a few things that would be good for them to have.

Before heading down the hallway to his group, he had grabbed a bunch of blankets and food for them. Surely they wouldn't mind if he took a few of those things. He doubted that there was any poison in the food since they wanted everyone of the participants to entertain them by killing each other. Poisoning everyone wouldn't be as fun to watch.

After struggling with opening the door for a little while, he brushed off a part of the dirt covered floor and placed the supplies he had gotten there. "Here." He went to a corner of the room and leaned against the wall. Even though he had brought food, he didn't take any of it himself. With what just happened, he didn't feel very hungry to begin with. Just sick. The image was stuck in his mind, constantly reminding him of the girl that had just died.

At first he believed that he would be the first to start swearing, but it was apparent that the female in the room did it for him. Her outburst basically summed up anything he would say and the mood to even say anything was now gone. A life for a mere flashlight, though this sounded insignificant he knew that this would be of use later on. Regardless of this fact it still felt as if he was being mocked.

With a grumble, Derron knelled downwards towards the fallen girl and grasped the metal shield she had held. It would be a waste for him to merely leave it there and she sure as hell wouldn't be using it. With the sheet of metal in hand, he walked off and took himself a flashlight before heading back through the room he came out of.

It was dark, but Derron did not wish to waste the batteries of the flashlight and so decided to trek through the darkness alone and use the flashlight unless truly needed. Once he returned back to his group Derron immediately tossed the bloodied metal sheet into the centre of the room "Im back" Derron said calmly resting his back against a wall. Slowly his body slid down the wall until he sat upon the ground.

Brady felt his heart skip a beat as Sancia volunteered to be their group's representative. He released a heavy sigh as the pressure in his heart alleviated. The tension, that hung palpable in the air moments prior, was now dissipating as his pulse began to normalize and he noticed the expressions of relief on the faces of others. He had mixed feelings about Sancia; he was relieved, of course, but he also felt bad for the girl, and yet he found her bravery... inspirational, almost. She was a fool in his eyes, a fool who had no idea what she was getting herself into.

The heavy door swung with a loud smash as she exited the room. He looked around to the others, the features on their silent faces suddenly becoming more prominent. He blinked hard for a second, glancing to his shoes as he swished them left and right. Brady found it relaxing, the metronome-like motion soothing him. He sure as hell needed it right now, with all that happened.

As the time dragged on, the high schooler began to feel anxious. Why wasn't Sancia back yet? Surely the challenge couldn't take that long, yeah? His chest tightened as his imagination ran rampant in his mind, envisioning gruesome and spine chilling scenes. His leg began to bounce up and down quickly as he ran his fingers through his hair worriedly. Brady cleared his throat as it began feeling more and more dry, coughing slightly.

    Why.

    Wasn't.

    She.

    Back.

    Yet.

A wavered breath escaped his lips. This couldn't be good.

A relieved sigh escaped his lips as he closed his eyes for a while. Looks like he made it out alive. Most of him felt really good about that but there was a small voice of his at the back of his head that cursed under its breath. He knew how this game was going to end and if lives were to be lost then he would rather it not being from his hands. Of course, he just wished none of this was actually happening but as much as he didn't want to be a part of it - he already was.

Nothing in school could have prepared anyone of them for this. Ever since their capture, his mind has been rambling nonstop on ways to survive - things that he's heard from the Discovery Channel or Natgeo and books he's read and films he's seen but if he were being honest, he was just too caught off guard by everything. His mind was chaotic and full of thoughts but he wasn't actually thinking. Who could blame him?

That's why he had been silent all this time amongst all of his group mates. He just needed to compose himself first and get his mind to accept everything that was happening so he could use that brain of his to actually do something helpful. He opened his emerald eyes once more, glancing along each face of their group. His eyes fell on Derron, who had just participated in the first ever challenge. His expression made Anthony's chest tighten and that's the only time he really took notice of the sheet of metal he had thrown. He didn't see it at first but it was clear that blood stained the shield - and it was fresh.

He took in a sharp breath. Someone had died. It was inevitable but someone legitimately got murdered just moments ago - and it could have been anyone of them. Anthony cursed for real under his breath. It was just like a Russian Roulette, except the opposite: it wasn't just one bullet but rather there was only going to be one blank while everyone else had to get their brains blown out.

He glances up at Derron again and walks over to him. He didn't really want to do this but any piece of information was going to help them all out - he was sure of it. He knew that it wasn't the right thing to say to anyone but his lips separated and he spoke before he could stop himself,
"Good to have you back. I know you don't want to hear this but how was it like?"

Upon hearing the voice mention that the first challenge was going to begin, Allen felt his heart sank. They were going to have to select someone to go take parts and it was uncertain whether or not said person would even come back at all. That little fact made deciding difficult as a silence lingered over them.

    "I'll go, I volunteer."

Eventually it was Sanica who broke the silence by volunteering. Sure a part of him was relieved that they wouldn't have to find out what they meant by 'or else', but at the same time he was worried about what would happen to her. Worrying for other people was a habit he'd developed from his brother. In truth he was always somewhat concerned for the well being of other people, regardless of how well he knew them. Being forced to kill one another was only making him more worried.

Some time had passed and there was no sign of Sanica returning. She was probably still on her way back, there was no need to worry. That was what he told himself as more and more time passed. With every minutes that went by, the hopes of her coming back faded until he'd ended up hugging his sides. He was about to mentally block out everything around him before he felt someone place a hand on his shoulders. Looking up, he saw that it was his brother Lucas. Good, that was helpful in somewhat lifting his spirits.

    KILLS ❣ N/A // MOOD ❣ A LITTLE HOPEFUL // OOC ❣
    (╯ಊ╰)

Casey kind of just sat in her place while the whole challenge was happening, she had scooted over to her friends but after small whimpers and exchanged "I'm scared."s she found herself silent again. Lucas and Allen were great at comforting her, as always, but she really couldn't find herself to breathe easy about anything. She knew Sancia, well they all did, and she kind of looked up to her because they were as alike as they were different. She always thought the adorable girl was a more outspoken, driven version of herself - people even said they kind of looked alike. She looked up to her sometimes and now all she wanted to do was wait and see her come out as the girl she's grown to admire.

The lanky girl practically jumped as the sound of the doors slamming open. She stared into the dark hallway and waited. Hope filled her entire being as she remembered Sancia's confident voice when she volunteered herself for the group. Her fingers rubbed together nervously. Had it been five seconds or five minutes just now? Why wasn't she back yet? Where was she?

She started to actually count in her head, maybe she was just so nervous that waiting felt like an eternity. 1, 2, 3...

Casey glanced at Allen, who seemed just as nervous as she did and she could feel her stomach do a flip. Oh God, has it really been that long? 25, 26, 27...

Come on, come on! Sancia! Where was she? Casey looked up at the other people in her group, the tension that filled the air was so intense it made her body shake. he noticed Brady's grave expression and that made her heart sink. She knew him for being rather strong and well, he didn't exactly embody that right now.

58, 59... 1 minute. It was past the one minute mark - and she only started counting after so long. So how long had it been? She could feel herself trembling but she was able to push herself up slowly onto her feet. She bit down on her lip as she took some steps forward.

    "S-Sancia...?"
Her voice was shaking and she really couldn't help but stutter. Taking every step forward was so much effort she felt like they weighed like rocks.

"Sancia?" she called out more loudly, cupping her hands over her mouth as she called out into the dark hall - but there was no reply. In fact, everything fell incredibly silent. Eerily silent.

She took one more step forward, stopping at the complete darkness of the hallway and a good distance from her group. All she could hear was her own breathing. Graphic images of the driver who was shot entered her head again and she couldn't help but feel that Sancia had ended up the same way. The thick, red liquid flowing out of their body... She finally took one last shaky breath and felt a tear trickle down her cheek. She raised her hands to her mouth one more time, her voice cracked as she called out for the last time
    "Sancia?!"

    OOC KILLS MOOD: Terrified

Carlie was so afraid for Nolan the entire time he was gone. He was so brave volunteering himself, especially after tending to her tears. She felt so out of place with their group. It consisted of most of the girls that were on the bus, but all the nerdy quiet ones. She wasn't smart like them, just cute and pretty and flexible. Being cute and pretty wasn't going to get her anywhere with their captives unless they decided to rape some of them -- OH NO, OH NO, OH NO!!! Panic welled up inside of her some more and she broke into a new fit of tears on the floor. She could hear Angie and Libby whispering to each other on the other side of the room, but she was too much of a wreck to bother trying to find out what they were saying. What was she to do?

    Gun fire.

She jumped in her seat and pink color contact eyes flew to the door. Someone shot a gun. Did that mean someone was already dead? Or multiple someones?! Carlie started wheezing and cupped her hands over her mouth, drawing in deep breaths. Did Nolan die in their place?

It seemed like forever went on before the beam of a flashlight shined into their room. Her heart seized in her chest and she was immediately flooded with relief at the sight of Nolan. Even better, he brought stuff with him. His arms were filled with blankets and food that he set down on the ground before moving to a different spot to sit. Blood pounded in her ears and her cheeks burned at the touch. Slowly, Carlie got to her knees and crawled over to the blanket, grabbing a bottle of water.

The cool liquid felt like heaven running down the back of her throat. She wiped her face with the back of her dirty hand and wrapped up in one of the blankets. Carlie held the itchy wool fabric close to her body and looked over at Nolan with tear - filled, worrisome eyes. She swallowed down the lump in her throat and decided to ask the one question everyone was undoubtedly thinking. What happened?
