A surprised gasp escaped her when Tucker pulled Maria into him. He was cold, but the contact was soothing and warm. She leaned into him, listening to the sound of his heartbeat. It was comforting and a small smile managed to squeeze its way into her lips through all the pain. Tucker looked down at her and began to whisper only loud enough for her to hear. Everything's going to be alright, don't worry. Tell me, what can I do f- There was a slamming sound and they both looked to see Erik pulling his hand back after punching the truck door.

He snapped on Bryan and then climbed into the truck. She began to zone out as conversation ensued. Maria coughed into the crook of her elbow and pulled her knees in close, still leaning into Tucker's half-embrace. Her side hurt and she bit back the pain on her lip. She could feel the up and down motion of his head nodding and she glanced up in time to see him look down at her. She swallowed, feeling a catch in her throat before coughing again. The obnoxious red-head, not Tucker, seemed to be relatively back to normal from the bits of conversation that did manage to permeate her hearing. Tucker pulled Maria away from his person and appeared to be inspecting her. Hey, tell me what's wrong. Tell me how I can help you. He sounded calm and full of concern. Tucker looked nervous as his chestnut eyes gazed deeply into her icy blues.

She could feel her chest swell as she looked back at him, suppressing the urge to cough or just throw herself at him. Maria swallowed down a lump in her throat and cleared it. I just... my side... She was at a loss for words. Her dark lashes fluttered as she held his gaze. All the conversation in the background had been drown out by the pounding of blood in her ears. ]T-Tucker--

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! DAMN PERVERTED DRUNKEN MAN!" yelled the eye patch guy. Maria ripped her gaze away from the cherry-haired counselor, fully distracted. "OH GOD, OOOOOOOOOOOOH GOOOOOOOOOOD, WHO KNOWS WHAT HE DID WITH THAT THING! MY HANDS....MY HANDS ARE TARNISHED! What on earth was he freaking out about?

She pulled away from Tucker suddenly as the group was alive with conversation further. Her mouth was dry and her lips cracked. Maria wet them with the tip of her tongue. Ah, Tucker-- she tried to interject among all the chatter, but now they were loading up. Bryan had made his way to the driver's door of the truck and was directing where everyone should sit. Never mind, she finally added and painfully pulled herself to her feet.

Maria climbed into the truck and slid to the back corner, resting her head against the cool metal of the vehicle. She shivered some more and her teeth chattered together. The others climbed in, some still talking. She wrapped her arms around her knees, fighting through the pain. Bryan closed the tailgate and the truck roared to life as they began to drive away. Where were they going? Someone had said a town name didn't they? What had it been? She bit down on her lip and began to sing softly to herself.

After what felt like forever, Bryan pulled off the road in some town nearby called Tilapok and stopped at the gas station-restaurant combo. He pulled up to the pump and killed the engine. She stretched her still cold arms out. It felt good to stretch.

A - Alright guys, he began shakily and she sighed, We're st - stopping here for food and wa - water. We don't h - have much money, so if any of you h - have any cash on you, we could - use it. Please be con - siderate of others a - and order something that won't put - us over too much . . .

Maria didn't have any money, not anymore. Everything was lost. She watched as Erik jumped out of the truck bed, not waiting for the tailgate to be let down. He pulled out a small golden card from his back pocket and stalked inside the store. She waited for the tailgate to open before sliding gingerly out of the back. Her feet burned on the concrete as she walked to the building, getting about halfway before realizing she couldn't go in. Maria shivered and rubbed her arms. Her bare feet stung from the cold and she stood there in the parking lot awkwardly. They would freak out if she didn't have shoes.

She turned around, trying to fight back the desire to cry, but her body was reacting stronger than she could fight it. Tears leaked out as she painfully climbed back into the truck bed. Her whole body was covered in goosebumps and her appendages were pink with the bite of cold air. She sniffled and coughed as she curled back up in the corner of the truck. Maria slipped her arms inside the shirt and hugged herself. Her arm brushed against the large bandage on her side. It felt damp and she momentarily wondered if it was from the adrenaline sweats or if she had been bleeding. She refrained from looking. It was just too much for right now. Warm salty tears stung her cold cheeks and she buried her face in her knees.

And so they reached their destination and from there they did not have to rely on anybody but their own group. They had their money and they had their transportation so now all they needed to do was reach the very end. Soon enough they would be able to be fed and taken care of and Julius only hoped the trip forward would be as easy as it was. Everybody began to pile out and Julius followed them and stretched his arms with a sigh.

As Julius breathed in the fresh air, most of group had begun to head into the gas station to look for food and supplies, Julius had his own money, but he felt to keep it as emergency funds, otherwise they might spend it all too quick. He wasn't necessarily hungry or thirsty so Julius decided to stick around the truck for a bit and contemplate what was going on. He needed to be the strongest one there. He was the oldest and he damn well needed to act like it. They were all just kids and he never wished for them to feel any sort of hardship while he was around.

As he let out a sigh, Julius noticed somebody still in the truck bed and raised an eyebrow. Deciding to check up what was wrong, Julius hopped on to it and walked up to the girl with her head buried in her knees. Seeing such sadness killed the man and silently, Julius sat next to the girl and gently wrapped his arm around her shoulder "Hey c'mon....stop those tears" Julius said softly. He wasn't really the greatest at comforting people, but that sure as hell didn't stop him from at least trying at the moment "Everything will be fine...I know its hard to believe with everything going on but trust me...I'll do whatever it takes to get you all home safe and sound...ok?" Julius said with a soft smile as he looked down at her. "Are you hungry? thirsty? I can get you something if you'd like" Julius said.

He absolutely hated seeing sadness, he absolutely hated not being able to fix things. Everything that had happened, from the fire all the way till now, even though he did what he could he still felt the pure feeling of uselessness. If he could only do something to ensure the kids safety....if he could sacrifice his very life to get them home...he would jump forth and do so without regret. He wished to scream to the heavens and show his anger and frustration, but he couldn't do that just yet...he needed to remain resolute and strong. He needed to show the kids that there was nothing to despair about and give them hope.

Her thoughts lingered on a few things, least of which was the group's complete well-being. Sophie thought that as long as she survived, things would be all well and good in the long run.

She only drank water, and went through three cups, not realizing how thirsty she was. The last time she had eaten was yesterday morning, but she thought she would be able to be alright. Maybe not. Sighing, she ordered a kid's meal and slowly ate it, more for something else to do besides sit around.

They must look like a spectacle to the workers, all dirtied up like this.

Being less of a human? Haha, that wasn't a thing. It was more of being less of a sentient being. Sophie wasn't an emotional person, it was hard to get to her with anything. Death? She didn't believe in it. Not really. Killing? That was transferring one person from this plane to another of existence. It still deserved punishment in most cases though.

This group was definitely in trouble. Alexandra, a murderer, and then Bryan would be an accessory, even if it was technically 'self-defense'. She sighed again, thinking on all the things from the last four days. Luck was a strange thing, and theirs seemed to be getting worse and worse.

Sophie let out a shaky breath, the lead feeling immediately going away. She had always been in good control of her emotions since . . . then. It was a useful skill to have. Her parents often called her a sociopath. Maybe she was one. There were few things in life she regretted -- and that was one of her worst fears.

Someone had taken residence up in front of her. She looked up. Quentin? Shouldn't he be checking on Noëlle or something? He seemed so thrashy and worried about her earlier. She fought the urge to roll her eyes.

"What are you thinking?" he asked her.

"You're not very original with your questions, are you?" He always started their conversations with that one. No one needed to know what she was thinking. It was none of their business. ". . . We have particularly shitty luck, don't we?" she replied shortly, resting her chin in the palm of her hand.

    READING THIS CONVERSATION IS OPTIONAL.

"That we do." He chuckled, causing him to cough. "Sorry. I'm still a bit . . . off." His expression became more serious, but in a quizzical way. "Why did you drag me?"

    "Drag you?"

"Earlier . . . You pulled me by my wrist."

"I thought the truck might explode. You were next to me. If I can save you, there's no point in letting you die."

He gave her a skeptical look, but didn't press it. His expression turned light. "I'm touched. Can you get me some water to keep from coughing to death, too?"

'I'm touched' he says, Sophie thought to herself, almost smiling. She looked at her large cup of water and pushed it towards him. "My fourth cup," she mentioned, looking distantly at it, and then shrugged.

"Thank you." He took a sip, and then a drink. It felt good on his raw throat and cleared his head. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply from the clean air. "I have asked you several things since camp. Do you have any questions for me?"

And you've found out mostly nothing by asking me those questions. Sophie let herself smirk. "Hmm," she hummed, looking his lightly tanned face up and down. There were lots of things Sophie could ask him that could tip the scale, but it was easier to start of simple. "Was this your first year going to camp?" She already knew the answer to that. She hadn't ever seen him in the years before.

"Doesn't that imply this is yours? You would recognize me, wouldn't you?" He looked her in the eye and took another sip. "I doubt that. You didn't act like a rookie at the hunt. So why ask?"

Sophie blinked at him, not expecting that. Interesting. "Fair point. Terrible thing, your first year ruined by the fire." The fire, hah. She still had her speculations on how it started. "Why did you decide to come to camp this year?"

"Oh, this and that." He knew that would bother her. He waited a few seconds to make it last. "I heard some things that made it sound . . . entertaining." He let his eyes wander over her. "By the looks of things, they weren't wrong . . . But they didn't mention the forest fires."

Annoyance flashed through Sophie's mind. So Quentin was more competent than she originally pegged him for. "Mmm. If you were going to give me ambiguous replies, why should I ask you questions?" she said, running her finger around the rim of the cup.

"I could ask you the same thing." He was glad for this conversation, it brought him down from the trauma of the day. Grounded him. "Do you dislike my questions?"

Sophie expected him to say that, but it was more annoying now that she had heard it. This kid . . . "I dislike questions in general." she replied bluntly. I don't play the game, others do. "But from our previous encounters, you weren't exactly the locked book."

"I suppose you would. You are not very personal. You speak to others, but dislike being spoken to. Is that why you liked that shy girl?" Of all of the things Quentin had observed, this seemed the most important. It was a good chance to bring it up . . . But I am skating on thin ice. His heart picked up its tempo.

Sophie raised her eyebrows at his question. He had been watching her? That wouldn't do. "You seem very interested in me." she told him, "Do you have some personal gain by talking to me?" It was a peculiar feeling, being watched; she never liked that.

"If that were the case, don't you think I would talk more?" Too thin . . . She hadn't answered. He tried to hide his nervousness. He was puzzled by the question. What does she think? He looked back up and met her eyes. His expression was uncertain. "What do you mean by personal?"

"Something that you could use to your advantage, for yourself, a game you might have." She knew all about personal gain, and it was something she went for often. Most of the time, her gain was amusement, or pleasure. Originally, She thought Quentin was too naïve to know about something like that, but this conversation had taken a turn in a direction she didn't like and she might actually have been wrong about that.

When she had seen a ripple of nervousness across his face, she calmed down. He doesn't seem like the type to play games. Her eyes danced with curiosity, but her expression remained bored as usual.

It appeared again. That shine in her eye. His nervousness turned to confidence once more. His eyes turned toward his cup as he answered. "Nothing like that. I'm just . . . interested in you." He glanced up at her as he said it. She didn't seem like the type to blush, but he was hoping. Her words were a good cover, either way.

She blinked at him and it was quiet for a long moment. Ahaha. Hahaha. The laugh in her mind went on for longer than it usually did. Interested in her, was he? There had been numerous people to confess to her, not knowing what kind of person she actually was, and most of them had ended up on the bad side of things. That tends to happen when you play with fire. They didn't just get burned, they were completely turned to ashes.

"So forward," she said, teasing him, "What ever shall I do now?" The question was both serious and trivial. Sophie didn't liked being watched. Quentin watched her. She would have to remember to write this in her journal, soon. "As for your question about the girl, she's not special. I talk to all kinds of people."

"Mhm." She hadn't blushed. He was disappointed. That's what I get. He sat up and pushed his chin up in mock offense. "Interested doesn't mean sold, young lady." He would have to play hard to get with this one. Give her focus. Give her time. He backed off, both literally and figuratively, and went back to the previous topic. "You only asked one. Any more questions?"

Sophie laughed. She decided that Quentin might actually be someone worth knowing -- he definitely had potential for . . . all kinds of things, but she would start with play toy. "What instruments do you play?"

"I can play the piano and sing, but the lute is my favorite." He remembered, he had lost his. Along with my sketchpad. He was still worried about Noëlle, the more fragile of the two. He frowned slightly. "What about you? I don't remember seeing you with any."

At the memory of her precious instruments, Sophie frowned and then rubbed at her temples. "I lost them when the ferry sank." she said short and irate, but then smoothed out her pea coat and face. "Cello, violin," she replied, "I also sing. There are a variety of instruments I am able to play, but cello is my forté. Are there other hobbies you pursue?"

"Painting . . ." He refused to let himself get down, so he let his eyes wander over her again and imagined drawing her naked as well. "It keeps me calm."
The conversation went on for a while and both each played at the conversation and each other from different angles. At least he had taken her mind off of all that had happened. Sophie decided she would have to play chess with him, some day.

That would definitely be an interesting game.

Maria hadn't been paying attention to who crawled in the back with her. She stifled a sob as they got in, not wanting to look totally pathetic in front of them. She felt drained of all energy and any warmth left inside her was sucked out down to her core. A warm arm wrapped around her, pulling her in close, and for a brief second she thought it might have been Tucker again. However, the voice did not match. It was just as soft and comforting, but deeper--with the wearing of age. Maria tilted her chin up to see the eye patch wearing man holding her. What was his name? He started talking again. She wanted to believe him,she really did, it just seemed like they would never make it home. "O-okay." She choked out. He asked her about food and she shook her head. Snarly blond locks rubbed against her cheek and she buried her face in his side, still shivering. "N-no. I don't want food." It would only make her feel worse. "I just--I'm just really tired... and cold..." but not so much anymore. The cold left her feeling numb and was beginning to take away the pain, aside from the stiffness in her bones that made her feel as if she might shatter at just the wrong touch.

Pierce sat inside the McDonald's at a back table by herself. She wanted some alone time after everything that happened. Her mind was reeling as she nibbled absently on some French fries. Images of Adrian in pain and freaking out in the candy store kept replaying in her mind over and over again. It was coupled with the display of Lexi stabbing that knife into the truck driver's head. She cringed at the memory of blood trickling down his face and falling to the ground. That girl was scary dangerous. "Ouch!" She bit her tongue, not realizing there was zero food in her mouth. Pierce pursed her lips and glanced around the restaurant. It was late, really late. They were the only customers in there. She coughed into the sleeve of her sweater and rubbed her eyes. She wondered how Adrian might be doing. Apologizing for running away from him in a time of need was one of the worst things she could have done. Guilt wracked her brain and her stomach twisted into knots. She pushed the tray away from herself, unable to eat anything else. She felt ready to vomit. Pierce took a sip of her sprite, letting the clear dizzy liquid help settle her stomach. i just want to go home and lock myself in my room for the rest of the summer.

Erik stopped in front of the register and slammed his credit card down on the counter. He needed a pack of smokes, and he needed it now. There was a turnstile filled with maps next to the register and he plucked one off the rack--it was of the area. "This too," he added as the cashier rang up the smokes he requested. He grabbed a bottle of Advil off the health and beauty display and threw that on the counter as well. The cashier rang it all up, dropping everything into a small bag and handing it to him. Erik through the bag over his shoulder and marched out of the gas station. He stopped beside the truck and pulled the box out containing the pill bottle. He opened it up and grabbed three out for himself before tossing the sealed bottle to Maria. She fumbled to catch it and he massaged his injured hand before moving away from the pumps.

Smoke filled his lungs and he let it linger inside him, hoping to push out any of the remaining yellow mist that might be present within his body. The sweet smell of tobacco smoke was warm and inviting, like visiting a friend you haven't seen in years. He couldn't believe how badly he had been missing it-- how much he had been craving it. Erik shoved one hand in his pocket while the other held the cigarette. It made smile slightly, at least until he started coughing. He didn't know if it was from the cigarette or the mist but he cared little at that moment.

Adrian got out of the truck. He was about to move toward the given location, when Julius stopped by a girl, who had began to cry. He had been meaning to talk to somebody about what had happened, and Pierce wasn't here. So the only person he could probably talk to was an adult. And the only adult was Julius.

He walked over to Julius and tapped his shoulder. The expression on his face was unreadable, but he was feeling a tug of pity. He looked at the girl, then back at Julius. "Whatever I did Julius, I'm sorry. This all seems to be my fault. I...I wasn't myself. You can persecute me like Sophie, but the facts are is that we need to stick together. Lexi may have murdered someone, but in case someone attacks us, we'll be able to defend ourselves."

"I'm not saying that we didn't do something wrong, we did, but I'm apologizing in advance. I don't want to leave this group, because I have something to live for. I already lost my sister, Julius. Please don't make me part with Pierce." Adrian said more quietly to him. He waited for a response and hoped that he spoke well. He then looked away from Julius and at the windows of McDonalds and he saw Pierce. Something in his gut told him not to go, but he wanted to talk to her. If Julius didn't forgive him, who else would? As soon as he got an answer from the counselor

The girl that he held was shivering and Julius wondered just why she was shivering in the first place. Was it because she was cold? was she scared? he wondered why and just quietly listened to her deny his offer for food. She needed to eat, but he wouldn't force her at all since food might actually be problem. Forcing her to eat when she didn't feel like it might of actually upset her and do the opposite of helping her. Regardless Julius would have to get some food into her system sooner or later.

Soon enough Julius' received the answer he was looking for as the girl revealed she was cold and tired. With that said, Julius took off his jacket and placed it on the girl as a blanket for her "Alright, just tell me if you need anything" Julius said softly as he stroked her head "Now just get some sleep" Julius said before a bottle of advil was tossed over at them. Bringing out one of the bottles of water, Julius held it up for her "now drink one of those tablets and get some sleep" Julius said.He merely hoped that his jacket and warmth would at least be able to help the girl.

With a sigh, the sudden tap on his shoulder caught his attention and his gaze was instantly brought over at Adrian. Adrian had caused so much problems over the past incident, and at the moment Julius really didn't wish to deal with the boy, but he felt he had no option other than to do so. "Adrian....enough with Pierce...." Julius said quietly in hope that this conversation didn't bother the girl he held. "I've watched you with Pierce and...no offence...but I think its a little bit ....obsessive" Julis said closing his eye with another sigh "look the two of you have only met for no more than 4 days....unless you've been stalking her for more than that....but ignoring my joke...parting with Pierce is not going to be the end of the ****ing world. I know you lost your sister and I give you my sympathies....but what your doing with Pierce is only going to lead to a devastating heartbreak if things do not go right" Julius said before opening his eye.

"Look...what you and Lexi did...its not so easy to forgive...Lexi murdered somebody and you attempted to do the same...a life is a life...it cant come back...the man was drunk...and his goal was not to kill us...his family will grieve...and now things might turn out to a problem for all of us" Julius said closing his eye "Forgiveness is not easy...I'll forgive you...but that damn well doesn't mean that the others will as well...do anything stupid again and I will act..." Julius said ending his discussion with Adrian.

Adrian listened carefully to what Julius said. He knew very well that his relationship with Pierce was off to a shaky start. He looked at the window to where Pierce was sitting, then back to Eyepatch. Adrian nodded and walked in to the McDonalds.

Thank God he had bought $50 along. Even though it had gotten wet at the ferry accident, but it was pretty useful. He payed for a Coke, and went to sit. He sat a table near Pierce's, but he didn't acknowledge her presence. If she wanted to talk, she would come to him.

He sipped some of the Coke and closed his eyes again. This thing has been one mess after another. The last thing that they needed was a disease spreading among them. He put both of his hands to his face, rubbing his eyes, and he stretched. As every bone in snipped and cracked, he felt a little better.
"God, Toni," Adrian said softly, "What the hell did you sign us up for? Certainly not for this."

Maria snuggled up in Julius' jacket as she curled into his side. He was whispering for her to sleep when Erik through the pill bottle. She barely caught it and then Julius was handing her a bottle of water, telling her to drink. She dumped out a small handful of pills into the palm of her hand and unscrewed the cap to the bottled water. Her hand shook as she dropped the pills in her mouth and took a swig of water. She had just nestled herself back into his side when Adrian came walking up. The sound of his annoying voice snapped her eyelids open and her bloodshot blue eyes were glaring daggers as he started talking. She rolled her eyes as he droned on and she had to suppress the urge to giggle when Julius told him off. As he walked away, she looked up at the man, batting her dark lashes. "That kid is fucking weird." She told him flatly before shutting her eyes and trying to allow herself to sleep in the comfort of his side. It wasn't nearly the same as when Tucker had held her, but it would have to do.

    *******

Pierce had finished her fries by the time Adrian walked into the restaurant. He sat down at a table near hers and she took a tentative sip of her soda. She thought she caught him looking at her and she swallowed uncomfortably, choking on the beverage. She broke out into a coughing fit, clutching her chest and her face burned red. When it ended she stood abruptly, picking up the tray and discarding its contents. She lingered at the trashcan for a minute and noticed Sophie with Quentin. He had such a weird greeting when she met him in cabin B. That first day seemed almost like an eternity ago. Her bare legs trembled as she took nervous steps towards them. She stopped at the end of their table and gave awkward glances. "Ah... um... Sophie, Quentin, d-do you mind if i uh.. s-sit with y-you?" she couldn't handle the looks Adrian was giving her. They made her nervous and she hid her trembling hands behind her back. He must have been pretty mad to stare so much.

    WEATHERCLEAR SKIES 58°! ❧『DATE & TIME』 6/19/2013 - 4:47AM ❧『DAY』 5

Bryan let out a shaky breath and stood from the cool and no doubt dirty tile floor, wiping his face clean with the slightly coarse fabric of his shirt. He ran the sink and cupped water in his dirty hands, splashing it on his flushed face moments later, and then blinking his sight clear to look at himself in the mirror again.

He looked better -- actually, he felt better. Emotions that had been pent up for the last four days had finally all been let out in the sanctuary of a gas station bathroom. It wasn't his ideal place, but beggars couldn't be choosers, and besides, he needed that. Their group needed him to do that, one more person to pull it together right?

Bryan didn't know how the other counselors were feeling and the only one he could tell that was taking everything in stride was Julius. He felt good about that because they needed a strong base to keep them going. Bryan was afraid that one bad thing was going to start happening after another. Was this some kind of destiny? He had never thought about that before, it seemed like a silly thing, to him!

He sighed and then left the bathroom. When he went to the dining area, he looked around to take a headcount and how everyone was feeling. They were all tired, for sure. Maybe they could sleep on the way back to Candlewood? He sure hoped they got there soon, and then the rest of the summer would be normal! Man, he wished the fire hadn't have happened . . .

Now that he smelled food, he sure was hungry! He knew now that he wasn't going to completely upchuck his guts, so eating something of sustenance would be good for him. They had more money than he cared to count and so he bought himself a ten-count of chicken nuggets. That was always one of his guilty pleasures since he was younger, McDonald's chicken nuggets -- but who didn't like them?

As he grabbed a seat and began to munch on them; he smiled, feeling loads better. At least for now. "I think thing's will be alright."

Richie[/url] exhaled an uneven sigh as he practically collapsed onto the booth nearest to him. He felt sick to his stomach after seeing... it. The blood... the icy glaze over the man's eyes. He shivered at the recollection, and looked around the fast-food restaurant. People were eating... how? His head slammed onto the table. There was a fucking dead body for goodness sake! Despite his stomach growling menacingly, Richie knew any food he ate would come right back up... it already did. He upchucked his breakfast not too long after first seeing it.

He needed to be around someone right now. Someone... someone he cared for. Picking his head up, he searched the area for someone familiar. He didn't see Elisa anywhere, so he figured she was still outside by the truck. He would go out and find comfort in her, but he was not going out into the bitter cold again. He silently apologized to his best friend for his negligence, and continued searching. At last he spotted someone: Bryan. Just looking at the handsome man made Richie feel a little better.

The boy realized how weak his legs felt as he stood up. They weren't exactly sturdy, which ( he assumed ) was normal after the past few hours he'd experienced. He attempted to run-walk to Bryan, but it ended up becoming a steady limp.

Wow, that table seemed a lot further than he expected.

Richie reached the table with the smile as he took a seat across from Bryan. While limping, he thought about how he would approach him. Should he show his true feelings, or should he put on the guise of a timid smile? The decision was obviously clear. Despite already taking the chair, he felt compelled to ask, "M-mind if I s-s-sit here...?" His teeth chattered. Odd... he didn't feel cold, though his quivering lips and wavered speech were obviously enough. It was soon followed by a muffled cough.

Richie felt like exploding everything he felt to Bryan in a slur of quick and desperate speech. Instead, he remained his composure in front of his crush... maintaining his calm demeanor wouldn't hurt, especially at a time like this. Throughout their ( hopeful ) conversation, he would express his emotions subtly. For now, he kept silent as he did not know what to say. The awkward silence between the two made him uncomfortable...

    "H-how are you h-holding up? How's N-Noëlle? Sh-she didn't look so well l-last time I saw her..."

Sophie looked up when she saw Bryan come from the restroom, looking loads better. She wondered why he had been in there so long. He seemed like a sensitive soul, so he'd probably been crying or something.

She continued her conversation with Quentin, as he couldn't seem to stop asking her questions and wanting to be asked questions. She was glad that he was at least competent enough to hold a decent conversation with her and wasn't that much of an annoyance. Yet.

A meek and quiet voice entered their fray and the two teenagers looked over to see Pierce, and a few tables away, Adrian was staring at her. Sophie didn't smile, but she felt a surge of pleasure at this, and then looked up at Pierce with curiosity.

    "Ah . . . um . . ." she started, classically nervous, "Sophie, Quentin - " Hmm, she knew his name. " - d - do you mind if I, uh . . . s - sit with y - you?"

In reply, Sophie scooted over so the girl could set down and leaned her chin on her hand, appearing interested. "Nice to talk to you again." she began with a cheerful smile, "How are you feeling? Puppy still on your kitten tail?" She was referring to Adrian with that one, but it was absolute that he didn't hear her because he was too far away.

"Hello . . . Pierce, was it? No issue." Quentin said after her, and continued to eat, waiting for more.

Sophie scooted over in the booth making room for Pierce before speaking. Pierce nervously tucked her hair behind her ear and fidgeted under the table. "Nice talking to you again."

She nodded her head. "Y-yeah." Her heart thumped loudly in her chest as she could feel the looks boring into her.

"How are you feeling? Puppy still on your kitten tail?" Sophie asked sounding both curious and amused.

"I don't know what that means." She replied softly. Her brown eyes stared intently down at the fake wood pattern on the table, trying to calm down.

"Hello. . . Pierce, was it? No issue." Quentin went immediately back to his eating after that. She lifted her gaze just slightly enough to see the movement of his throat as he ate.

She tore her gaze away and chanced a glance up at Sophia to her left. "You enjoy my discomfort." It wasn't a question. Everyone always liked to laugh at her expense. It was nothing new. She had grown rather accustomed to people finding humor in her misfortune.

When the truck had stopped at the station, Alex looked up to see if there was more to it. He’d heard mentioning of stopping to get something to eat, which became clear when he stay the Mc Donald’s as a part of the station. Luckily he did have some cash, but not much, $15 at most. So he would have to get something small, a kids meal if need be.

Following behind the other as they left the truck he headed inside and looked at the menu. For the most part there were things that he was used to eating, but for the first time he realized just how much cash he would lose for getting what he normally would. Good thing he was planning on getting a hamburger meal.

After getting into line and waiting to approach the counter. He ordered his food and walked away holding his tray. He found himself as seat and placed his tray down and begun to eat.

When Pierce replied, apparently not knowing what Sophie had meant by her earlier question, Sophie laughed with a brightness in her eyes and traced the rim of her cup with her finger.

"You enjoy my discomfort." Pierce said, in a rather bold mix of words.

Sophie smiled at her with honest intentions, "Of course I do, Pierce." she replied, "But don't worry, I enjoy everyone's discomfort. I really am curious about you and him. He seems rather attached to you since yesterday."

Of course, that seemed more like a stalkerish attachment, but who was she to comment on that? Ahaha. Well, she was Sophie, of course -- what a silly question! Stalkers were funny people, she thought to herself, and letting them having the smallest leeway was a dangerous thing, but it was always fun to tease them, like dangling meat in front of starved dogs.

"What do you think of him?"

Elisa had been with Richie the entire time before they piled into the truck. She felt incredibly weak and shaky. Her coughing, luckily, has subsided slightly. She didn't find herself coughing violently anymore, but when she did cough her chest still ached.

When the group began making their way again, the teenager took a corner and hugged her military green bag close to her. The night was so cold. She could feel herself shaking as she gripped her bare arms with her bony fingers. Most of her interests focused around gothic things, skulls and death - but she wasn't feeling for any of it right now. She just wanted to go home and snuggle into her bed. Why was all this misfortune happening to them now? She went into this camp for a nice, good time and what she's got out of it was the complete opposite. She lost most of her belongings too, excluding less than a handful of sleeping and appetite pills, some rings and earrings, her cupid's brew and one set of clothes. Oh! As the truck fell to a stop, she opened her bag and dug into it. She could hear one of the counselor's voices in the distance… Bryan was it? All she could make out of what he was saying was that they were stopping for food and water. She let out a sarcastic scoff at the thought while her fingers passed over those appetite pills of hers. She pulled out the extra shirt in her bag and put it over her head. It was a pastel purple shirt, rather big on her - it shaped around her thin shoulders and just draped down from there. She pulled out her blue locks that got caught under it, before fanning out her flowy shirt over her skinny frame. The studs from her bustier top under the shirt she put on kind of stood out of her chest, and the top didn't actually give her much warmth but she honestly did feel the tiniest bit better. She zipped her bag closed before she weakly got herself out of the truck.

She coughed into her fist as she looked around. Richie must have gone ahead since she didn't see him anywhere. She frowned. She didn't want to be alone at all right now. The cold was really getting to her. She could feel her teeth chattering and felt like her bones were shaking inside her body. She gripped her arms again, more tightly and pressed closely on her body as she attempted to get herself warm.

Her blue eyes fell on the fast food place some of the other kids were going to. She really wasn't in the mood, but it must have been so much warmer in there. With a disappointed sigh, she began to walk forward towards it. asking was even a pain. Every step was like 'oh no cold' but it was also 'don't faint'. Without eating almost the entire day, which was a victory in her mind but really she just didn't feel like eating in a situation like this, she was really low on energy. As she walked, she realized how light headed she was feeling right now. Her vision began to blur as her teeth chattered and she took more steps towards the place.

Finally reaching it after it felt like forever, she opened the doors. The awful smell of fried food and numerous calories stung up her nose. That would have done her completely and made her faint. It was such a bad odor, but she didn't. She spotted the drink station quickly and helped herself with a glass of water. She always smiled about the fact that water was sully free in places like this, but she couldn't find herself to smile right now. With a full glass of water, she sat down in a seat on a lone table. She still hadn't spotted Richie, and frowned. Reaching back down into her bag, she pulls out the little zip lock of her appetite/anti-fainting pills and took one into her mouth, swallowing it with the help of the water. She quickly devoured half of her water in one drink, but placed it down on the table. She didn't want to drink it too quickly, because that would mean having to get up and refill it. She was too sluggish for that.

    "H-Hi..."

Elisa didn't notice the other two girls that came by, the electric blue haired one smiled at her with that friendly greeting. She gave her a tired smile back and was able to mumble a "hello" to her. She remembered seeing the girl in camp - her blue hair kind of stuck out like a sore thumb. She gripped the cold glass between thin fingers, gripping it tightly. She still felt really weak, but the pill she just took did clear her head a bit.

    WEATHERCLEAR SKIES 58°! ❧『DATE & TIME』 6/19/2013 - 4:54AM ❧『DAY』 5

Bryan was halfway through his chicken nuggets when he thought he might start getting sick again. He was doing his best not to think about anything that had happened before they had come to Tilapok, and so far, he had been doing a pretty decent job -- until he let his guard down with his thoughts.

He set down his water and took a deep breath, leaning back into the chair and closing his eyes.

"M - Mind if I s - s - sit here . . . ?" asked a quivering voice, and Bryan sat up to see Richie looking a little under the weather, much how the rest of them felt. He gave the boy a sympathetic smile as he sat down, and Bryan tried to feel better.

    "H - How are you h - holding up?" Richie asked, his voice still in pieces, "How's N - Noëlle? Sh - She didn't look so well l - last time I saw her . . ."

Bryan looked over to another table where his sister was sitting, picking at her food. She definitely looked better than earlier, and he was glad she wasn't in danger anymore and wasn't bleeding. He felt bad for not sitting with her, not comforting her like a big brother should, but if he couldn't comfort himself, what use was he?

He sighed and shook his head. "I think we've all seen better days," he said with a sad smile. "She's better, not in so much danger anymore . . ." He remembered when she was. Seeing red was pretty scary, now that he thought about it. He had just been . . . so angry about what David did. That man hurt his sister, and Bryan wasn't having that crap. Not now -- not ever again.

"What about you, kiddo?" he asked, looking back at Richie, "You look like you could use some good rest. Maybe you should try and eat a little?" Bryan nudged his chicken nuggets over to share. "At least try. I know this sick feeling is still overwhelming, but it'll be worse if you don't eat . . ."

    I just... my side...

Her voice was so soft yet sounded so broken. It made him frown. He didn't really know what she meant about her side, and as he looked down at her body, he didn't really know what to do either. He noticed the pills on the ground out of the corner of his eye, were these what she meant? What kind of pills were these? Were they to help her? His eyes immediately looked back to hers, snapping back to reality almost, when he heard her voice utter his name,

    T-Tucker--
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! DAMN PERVERTED DRUNKEN MAN! OH GOD, OOOOOOOOOOOOH GOOOOOOOOOOD, WHO KNOWS WHAT HE DID WITH THAT THING! MY HANDS....MY HANDS ARE TARNISHED!

Then Maria pulled away from him, but he was too distracted by what Julius was screaming about for that moment. What was going on? What did he find? Kind of like an answer from the universe, the words erupting from Julius' previous freak out rang back into his head: 'perverted drunken man' and 'my hands are tarnished'. He swallowed hard, feeling his body tense up again. He looked onto the ground for that moment, still kind of embracing Maria beside him but clearly not paying much attention to her anymore. He suddenly got brought back to his nightmares. Perverted drunken man was way too direct for a blast in the past for his comfort, as well as tarnished/stained bodies due to… some… things. He felt himself shiver. If that was the kind of man David was, he kind of felt a little glad he was dead.

Before he could work on that thought more, he heard Maria utter a Never mind, and then pull away from him completely as she got to her feet and made her way to the truck. He was kind of just surprised and watched her go as he slowly got to his own feet. His hand then balled into a fist, he felt his nails dig into the palm of his hand as he breathed heavily, not really focusing on what was going on now. He stood by the end of the truck, making sure everyone was making their way in, but his attention was clearly elsewhere. The thought rung in his head. 'I'm glad he's dead.'

Watching the last student go inside, he hopped in as well, then the truck began to move. He coughed into his shoulder, feeling more like he wanted to vomit as the thought rung back into his head. 'I'm glad he's dead. They deserve to die.' He couldn't believe he was thinking that - without a hint of guilt, even. He pulled his knees closer to him and rested his head on them, shutting his eyes. He wanted to vomit. He wanted to vomit because he still wasn't feeling well but mostly because he was so disgusted by himself. Who was he to say someone deserved to die? What was he thinking? If people deserved to die just for being sick, perverted, manipulating creeps - then his father would be dead. He actually let that thought enter his mind again. He hasn't thought directly about his father in a while. It took too much out of him. Benjamin Knowles. His face was known to many, his name and title even more. It gave most Knowles a bad name, but with Ben being bald (shaved his head in prison), grungy looking and completely evil - no one ever made the connection to Tucker, but that man, the famous child molester and pornographer was his father - and he was his father's favorite star. He gripped himself more tightly, his nails digging into his skin now, shutting his eyes even more tightly. That's why he never liked his past. That's why his body was decorated with scars. He never told anyone - but he had this sick feeling that people would find out anyway. He hated it - the connection. He didn't want anyone to ever know. He could feel tears at the corner of his eyes, and boy, did he really want to vomit.

The truck came to a stop, the young man quickly got out, but stood by the truck blankly again as the students got out. He hovered a hand over his mouth, he really felt sick. He hung his head down, shutting his eyes again. As Elisa passed by him, being the last to get off and went her way to the McDonalds. Watching her go, he swallowed nervously - or, at least tried. Nope. He couldn't do it. His eyes darted to the bathroom nearby and he quickly made his way over there. At the door, he quickly passed Bryan - who didn't look so well wither but he didn't exactly want to try and comfort him but end up vomiting on him. He dogged the younger male and made his way into a cubicle, not even bothering to close the door as he dropped to his knees in front of the toilet and puke into it. His throat was buying and tears rolled down his cheeks. He didn't vomit much, more of just acids, probably because he hasn't exactly eaten much - other than breakfast from the inn before. Lots of images fell into his head. It was horrible.

    -----------------------

Opening his eyes as he looked forward at his tired reflection in the bathroom mirror after splashing his face with cold water, he breathed heavily. He freshened up from his episode in the cubicle behind him. He spent some time there, just sobbing and half-puking. It was disgusting. He felt disgusting, but he knew he just had to have that time to just let it all out. His eyes and throat stung the same way and his chest felt really heavy - but he was done. He felt better now. After that time of being alone, he finally put the thoughts at the back of his head.

He blinked. He had to go back to the group and face them again, and make sure everyone was alright. He shook his head in a frustrated manner then looked up at himself again. Blinking, he then shot a really wide grin at the mirror. It was obviously forced, so he let out a sigh and just left the bathroom. He looked towards where most of the kids were which was the fast food place. Quickly, not wanting to face the cold in his tank top and shorts, he entered the store. His eyes immediately fell on Bryan, who was joined by Richie. Finding himself a little hesitant in joining them as he saw the blonde boy, but as he looked at Bryan, who he encountered exiting the bathroom before he… yeah. He wondered if he heard the horrible puking noises he made on his way out, and swallowed nervously - but he went over to the table, grabbing a chair and sitting down. He sent them both a forced smile, hoping they'd buy it, "Hey you two. How are you guys doing?"

    Sean's Song
    Stratana's Song
    Sebastian's Song

Sebastian stumbled over to Natalie's table. He hadn't been feeling so well ever since the mist fiasco, and he wanted to keep his distance from Natalie in case the constant coughing from the toxic fumes was dangerously contagious. He stifled a cough as he sat down. He hadn't gotten anything to eat... neither had Stratana or Sean as he looked around. Sean was having a bit of coughing attack at the moment, and frankly, Sebastian could relate. It felt like hell on his system.

"Natalie." He choked, his voice raspy from sickness. "How are you feeling?" He didn't have time to receive an answer though, as a scream quickly followed his question. His head dashed to the side to see Sean's heavy torso fall into his plate after one mighty hack; the scream belonged to Jenna.

"Please! Don't die!" Accompanied Jenna leaping at Sean as she pound at his shoulder. "Please!" But Sebastian could already tell from the blank, emotionless locked stare in Sean's eyes, he could tell he was already gone. The sudden death inspired in Sebastian nothing less than worry for his own life and the others who were sick.

"Lexi, quick, call an ambulance!" Sebastian heard Stratana scream in desperation from a different table. She had flailed to her feet following having sat with Lexi.

"He's gone, Stratana!" Sebastian rasped, jumping to his feet.

"I... I think I need-" That was the last collection of words out of her mouth before she coughed violently into her palm. "Oh... my GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHD!" Her voice shrieked as she looked to see down in her palm tiny of specks of blood. "Hel-" She tried to call out for help, but instead, she coughed violently once more as a small pool of blood formed in her lower jaw; it flooded over her top lip as she sputtered and fell. "Lesi...I thin I atually feh in" Her pronunciations were altered by the constant stream of thick blood pooling out of her mouth and splattering off her lips as she spoke. "You may me atually cay-er bough sonewah other tha me. Than k you." Stratana clasped tightly to Lexi's leg, staring straight up into her eyes as hers faded in a sudden flash of a losing struggle with fate.

Sebastian wanted to make a break for the door! All these people were sick and they were DYING! "No!" He felt it, a stabbing pain in his chest that felt like his lungs had collapsed, he fell into a chair and struggled to keep himself seated and not lie down. "Listen, I can see where this is going. The one good thing is: you aren't sick. Hey, hey, don't cry." He tried to be soothing. "It's okay." It wasn't. "If I could manage a regeneration, believe me... I KOFF...would. Anything to stay here. But... I don't think I'll be that lucky." He slipped further in strength as he felt his legs succumb to numbing pain. He felt so cold already. He wanted to say "But I don't want to go", but felt that too jovial and light. Natalie deserved more as he went. "Before I go.." He remembered the last time Eccleston had played the Doctor and spoke his last lines word for word, making them his own in the process. "Natalie, before I go I just want to tell you: you were fantastic." He smiled at her warmly though he felt inwardly frigid as he cooled to ice statue proportions. "Absolutely fantastic." He paused. He needed to say this right, but he could feel his grip slipping, so he clasped tightly to Natalie's hand. "And you know what?" He laughed in Death's face by smiling at both Love and Fear at once. "So was I." With that, he felt himself go; detached.

Adrian opened his eyes in time to see Pierce go over to where Sophie and another boy were sitting, and sat down. Adrian can visibly see that they were chatting, but occasionally looking at him. He saw Sophie smiling at him. But it wasn't warm, but frigid.

It was like she was baiting him to either come over, confirming him to be a "stalker" in any case, or leave her be, and show that he didn't care for her. It looked like a no win situation
"This girl knows what I want. She knows who I care for. She looks like she wants me to destroy myself, lower my reputation. I won't give that to her."

Then there was the sudden death of 3 individual's deaths. Adrian took a sip as one of them was talking to a girl, completely ripping off from Doctor Who. And for some reason, it actually fit. He stood and walked quietly walked to the booth. They seemed to die of total organ failure to unknown causes. Adrian's yellow eyes scanned the body of an elegant young woman, right at the prime of her youth, a burly man who looked to be a bruiser, and the boy, the one who ripped off Doctor who.

He felt sentimentality towards the three, knowing that he did not know those three, and he will never get to know them. But, he could do one last thing, that would make him happy. The other people that were sitting at the booth looked shaken. Adrian didn't blink an eye. Instead, he bowed his head low, closed his eyes, and put his right hand to his forehead, to his chest, then to his left and his right. "In death, may you be triumphant." He said aloud, to the people at the booth. After that, he closed the eyes of the burly man, the elegant woman, and, to what Adrian would probably him later on in his life, even though he never knew him, the man who lived on.
After he was done, Adrian placed the Coke cup onto the table, and returned to his booth and stared straight into Sophie's eyes. For some reason, Sophie actually reminded of the Weeping Angel, probably an afterthought from what he heard.

Adrian cracked his neck, and shrugged, smiling at Sophie, not Pierce, but Sophie. If there was anything that was going to make him smile, it was going to be smiling in Sophie's face when she's the wrong way backwards. His smile turned neutral, as he lay his head back again, and relaxed. The "Goodbye sentiment" somehow made him feel better. A first.

Lexi was about to speak, when Sean seemed to drop dead. "What the hell!?" Lexi cried out. That was when the unexpected came. Stratana coughed out blood after asking Lexi to call an ambulance. "Stratana! Hold on, I-" But it was too late. Her friend had begun to bleed out, and she dropped dead.

"STRATANA!" Lexi bellowed, taking the girl in her arms. "Stratana, please! Tell me you're just kidding! Come on, please! Wake up! Wake up... Wake..."

It was no good. She was gone. Lexi teared up. Her friend, whom she had grown incredibly attached to in the last four days was gone. She sobbed into Stratana's corpse, not caring if her nose suffered more damage. She just wanted Stratana back. Lexi would have sacrificed a leg and an arm, or even her heart to get her back safely. She knew it was impossible, but after all the two had made it out of okay, the forest fire, the ferry sinking, and the candy store, it just ended.

One of her biggest fears was being left alone and abandoned, and that's just what she felt now.

Natalie was screaming. Sebastian and the other two had died right in front of her. She cradled Sebastian's body.

"Sebastian! Wake up! Come on!" She pulled out her sonic screwdriver and shone it in his face. "Look! I'm scanning you! You're gonna be okay! We'll get you to the hospital, and th-they'll fix you up, right!? Sebastian, come on! Wake up! Please... Sebas..." It was no good. She heard Lexi sobbing over Stratana, and Jenna sobbing over Sean. Natalie's eyes filled with tears and she let out a wail. She held Sebastian closely and tightly. She didn't want to let him go. She... She didn't want him to go.

Things just seemed to go from bad to worse. A fire, a sinking ferry, a stupid candy shop, and now this... Why them? They were just kids! Most of them weren't ready to deal with these things at all! It just wasn't fair! What had they done to deserve this all? They were all good people (for the most part). Sure, they made some horrible desicions at times, but deep down, everyone had one ounce of goodness in them, didn't they?

Her thoughts clouded as she sat there and wept. It wasn't fair at all...
