    The longer he sat the, the more he thought that eventually Estelle was going to swarm him with questions. The fact the Natalie was the only thing keeping her to do so was good for the moment, but who's know what she would do if she just stepped away for a moment. Who's to say that she wouldn't take that chance just to ask whatever was on her mind.

    "Okay, well, how about we go watch a movie? Something to keep us occupied."

    Once again he was saved by Natalie. Even if he didn't have the foggiest idea on what to go watch, though they could figure that out on the way there. "Sure, that'll work." For the time being it seemed that he was freed from any potential questions.

    As they made there way towards the Movie theater, it was pretty silent between them for the most part. There were time where Alex wanted to say something aside from what did she want to go watch, but never did once. "So, what exactly do you want to see?" In the end that was what he asked her.

    "Um, can we play some of these games?"
    "Sure!" Seraphina smiled. She popped the first game in, and they started to play. She smirked to herself, this couldn't have been anymore prefect. They continued to play, game after game. "You play much better then I thought you would. Not that I thought you were bad or anything- I just meant..." Seraphina laughed. She got a drink out of the minifridge, a little bit of alcohol couldn't hurt anyone it was New Years... She was a little bit tired now though. "Hey, I have something else I want to show you. Follow me." Seraphina said, leaving the video game room and heading back into the 3rd floor main foyer. She went up a another set of stairs, and then took an elevator.
    She walked into the Observatory. "This is the Observatory, It's such a nice place to just, talk and relax ya know?" She sat down on the long couch like chair rapped around the fountain. She motioned to him, telling him to sit close to her. "Oh look! A shooting star, Since it's new years that must mean it's extra special right?" She said, putting her head on his shoulder. 'I wonder... no no it would sound silly if I did such a childish... well... I'm sure he wouldn't care... he's very... different' She thought. "Star Light Star Bright, The shooting Star on this New Years Night, I wish I may I wish I might... Have the wish, I wish tonight." She whispered. She thought about it, what would she wish for? She made up her mind 'I wish, that Shane and I get to do things like this for a long time.' She nodded to herself.
    "Did you wish for something Shane?" Seraphina asked him. "Ya know... I've always loved the stars... and just be sitting under the Open Sky... It's very romantic don't you think?" She asked him, snuggling into his shoulder. She took one of his hands. "Shane, can you please stay here with me tonight?" She asked, then slowly falling asleep, her hand still locked on his.

    "Awww, the love birds aren't back yet." Estelle laughed. "Ok guys, we'll leave the lanterns out for them, but we should start now." She told everyone. "Hey look Estelle a shooting Star!" Amaya said, looking up into the sky. "Ok everyone make a wish ok?" Estelle said those words. "Star Light, Star Bright, First Shooting Star on a New Years night, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight." They all said together.
    'I wish... hmm... I wish that... hmm... I wish that Nat and Alex have a very good relationship, and that they'll come to love each other very very much.' She said. 'Can't you wish something for yourself for once?! You make me look bad!' She heard Vega's voice Echo in her mind. 'Ok ok, I also wish that, I can get over what happened as a child, and find someone who truly cares about me.' Estelle said.
    "Ok everyone, on my count, 1,2,3 Fly!" Estelle said, as they all released the lanterns into the sky. They watched as the New Years wishes flew into the sky. After Estelle and the family had a bit of a celebration, Estelle went to sleep. 'Seriously, where are they?' Estelle wondered. Oh well, she was sure they would be ok. With then Estelle fell into her dreams.

    Erik had been sitting at the bar with his beer paying no one any real attention. He had his phone out and took a slow swig off his beer bottle before setting it down on the counter. He came to a stop at Tucker's name and started a new message.

    To: Tuck
    Hey man, what's taking so long?
    You're late and I

    "Yo Erik, been a while."

    Erik looked up to see Evan approaching, dragging along a desperate looking Maria. She glanced around from side to side, seeming unsure of whether or not she was welcome to be there. His only guess was that she hadn't quite turned 21 yet. He nodded and waved at the pair of them before holding up a finger to signal, ' just a second, ' and returned to his phone, editing the last line before pressing send.

    You're late and you'll
    never guess who just walked into
    the bar to join us. Hurry up!

    "Hey you two," he greeted them after slipping his phone in his pocket. Erik waved to the bartender and held up two fingers. With a nod, the woman disappeared before coming back with two fresh cracked bottles, setting them down in front of him. He put a few crumpled bills on the counter before grabbing the bottles and motioning for Evan and Maria to follow him to a table. He picked one surrounded by crowds of people so that no one would think twice when they looked at the woman. "So what are the two of you up to tonight?" he asked while setting the bottles down in front of them.

    Maria seemed to take her's hesitantly, giving a few shifty glances around to make sure no one was going to kick her out before taking a sip. She wrinkled her nose and he shook his head smiling. "Evan thought it would be a good idea. He's on a vendetta." Erik tipped back his bottle as she jabbed Evan in the side with her elbow. He was sitting across from the pair of them and he kept glancing over heads for a familiar head of red hair to walk through the door.

    "Oh yeah? What kind of vendetta?" he asked absently. Erik was trying to pay attention, but he also wanted to know what was up with Tuck. He should be here by now.

    WEATHERGRAY SKIES, 30°! ✖『DATE & TIME』 12/31/2015 - ???PM ✖『DAY』 11

    Good Morning, Noëlle. He smiled warmly and stepped further into the hospital room, taking a seat by her bed. She folded her legs under her and placed her cell phone back into her purse. A moment later it vibrated and she pulled it free again, hoping it was Bryan - or Ms. Chambers. It wasn't. That was alright, though. It was Maria! She was likely checking on her, and she appreciated it. Hoping Jonathan wouldn't find it too rude, she opened up her inbox and read through the message.

    From: Maria
    Hey. Are you out of the hospital yet?
    I can't imagine how you are taking
    things right now. I was thinking
    about coming over tomorrow. Do you
    think you'll be able to manage some
    company? I'm so sorry for you, hon.

    What is she talking about ...? Her smile faded slowly, and she set the phone back down without replying, trying to rationally assess the situation without panic. Bryan and her mother were ignoring her, Joey was being avoidant ... Her eyes met with Jonathan's. Did this have something to do with her accident?

    I'm glad to see your doing much better than before. ... Noëlle...I told you yesterday I had something I needed to tell you...its about that crash...

    Wait ... ! Her chest suddenly felt restricted and her lungs felt heavy in her ribcage. If something had happened, she wasn't ready to hear it. What if something had happened to Ms. Chambers? Is that why Joey sounded so sore with her? He and her mother had gotten awfully close over the last few years ... he wouldn't do well if something happened to her. And Bryan! Was he ignoring her because he didn't want to tell her what happened? Her eyes pricked with tears and her lips pressed together in a thin line ... She had to be an adult about this.

    You know how I told you how your bus crashed into two cars? ... The people in the cars didn't survive... Jonathan closed his eyes, breaking their connection to hers. She wished he'd get on with it. Her fingers trembled, fidgeting in her lap. In the first car was a girl named Sophie Bennett and a boy named Lucas Cygnette...

    The pressure on her chest lifted a bit. It was selfish, but she felt worlds of relief knowing no one close to her had been hurt. What was Maria going on about, then? Lucas and Sophie were her classmates, too, wouldn't they be handling the news similarity? ... Unless -

    In the second car...was a boy.....his name was... Jonathan grasped at his hair, clearly struggling to tell her. The silence between them was unbearable. A boy.

    Aah, wait ... She didn't want to hear it! She wanted nothing more than to slam her palms to her ears and never hear anything again. Her protest was barely even a whisper, so she doubted he could hear her.

    ....I'm sorry...His name was Bryan Chambers...

    Deep, turquoise eyes fell and settled on her trembling, pale fingers. The world wavered - just for a second - from the nauseatingly vivid colors it was painted in, to something much ... duller. To be honest, she mostly felt confused. Everything added up - but it didn't fit. Bryan wasn't supposed to die, it was completely ridiculous. It felt like Jonathan's news was a puzzle piece that wasn't supposed to be there, just jammed and bent into place. A piece that shifted every other one, so that the picture didn't exactly match up right. It was ruined.

    There was a devastating silence between them in which all of the disbelief and questions swirling around in her head finally quieted, and she shifted in her hospital bed.

    Oh, alright ... She cleared her throat and lifted her chin, reaching out to place an annoyingly shaky hand on the green-eyed boy's shoulder. Thank you for telling me ... I know that must have been hard for you, Jonathan.

    He put his hand on top of hers and shook his head. I'm just worried for you...listen...let me take you home...I don't want you roaming alone, alright?

    She smiled. It didn't feel forced. It didn't feel like anything.

    Alright then.

    [IMG]

    As soon as she was 'all good to go', she was released from the hospital with a few bandages, some painkillers and a brace for her arm. Jonathan had reserved a taxi for them as soon as she pressed the 'nurse' button, and arrived as they left the building.

    The ride was quiet. Noëlle didn't take much notice of anything outside of the car. Her eyes remained locked on the taximeter for the duration of the ride.

    Ms. Chamber's car was parked in the driveway. Of course she was home, that useless fucking bitch. Despite everything ... she couldn't manage to be there for her, not even now. Not even when she needed her. Aah, she shouldn't think such things about her mother. After all, she was all she really had now - in this house ...

    Jonathan paid the taxi man before she could get her money out and she thanked him, stepping out onto the snow covered parking lot and making her way up to her door.

    They stood there a bit awkwardly, a scene that mimicked that of young teenagers in puppy love saying good night after a date. What she would give for that to be the scenario. The thought churned up again - was this her fault? Was it because she had expected too much out of Bryan? Because she had drugged him? It was. He wouldn't have even gone out if it weren't for her pushing him to talk to her. Maybe he would have been going somewhere else. A shiver ran down her spine. This wasn't right.

    Thank you for taking me home ... Her voice was gentle, but distracted. She pulled her key out and unlocked the front door. Ms. Chambers and Joey sat on the couch, huddled together as the woman sobbed. Noëlle blinked at them. A flash of pure, unfiltered rage washed over her and then faded away back into nothing. Without closing the door, or taking off her shoes, or saying anything to the disgusting couple occupying the living room, she walked down a hall and up the stairs.

    Ms. Chambers called after her, distraught, but she didn't slow down or stop until she was at Bryan's door. Her fingers wrapped around the doorknob and she pushed it open, breathing in the comforting, warm scent of her big brother. Her dead big brother. Why was he dead? It didn't make any sense. All that she knew was that someday, his scent would leave this room.

    Her fingers shook as she locked his door behind her and dropped her bag. She pulled off her shoes, and then her coat, and skirt, and blouse, and everything, until she stood alone in his room, trembling. Her arm ached when she moved it, but she didn't care - ah, she had pills for that! Kneeling back down onto his carpet, she took another deep breath and felt around for her bag. A few painkillers were plopped into her palm and forced down her dry throat. There.

    When she was done, she peeled back the blankets on his bed and buried her body beneath them, tangling herself in the cool sheets and forcing her nose hard against his pillow, taking a deep breath. This was as close as she would ever be to him again, and one day, this wouldn't even be enough. One day her mother may wash his blankets, and get rid of his clothes. Maybe her and Joey would turn this into a guest room. Maybe their house would burn down one day and all she would have of him were memories. Silent, repeating images flashing in her head like some tragic story book with an inconclusive ending. One she'd read a million times.

    Bryan, I don't understand ... Her voice was muffled against the pillow thrown over her face, depriving her of oxygen. She pulled it back a bit and when she did, finally noticed that tears were pouring down her cheeks - down her chin. She pressed the pillow into her chest and breathed in once ... then again ... then, before she knew it, she was gasping and sobbing without restraint. You weren't supposed to die! I don't know what would have ... what would have happened between us, but you weren't supposed to die. At worst, you would get married and have children and forget all about me - but you weren't meant to leave me forever. What am I supposed to ... What am I supposed to do ... How am I supposed to even ... !

    This had to be some kind of a joke. It was too wrong. It wasn't meant to happen this way.

    Noëlle, her eyes fluttered open again. Without any more of a warning, he tilted her chin up and she stopped breathing. What was happening? What was he doing? Her body went stiff. She felt frozen in place - in time, even. Then, he leaned forward and her fingers curled into fists, wrapped into his shirt as his lips pressed against hers.

    Oh my God ... Bryan! Bryan ...! She choked, curling her body tighter underneath his blankets. Her fingers trailed over her chin as she remembered the warmth that spread through her when their lips touched. The happiest night of her life.

    ... Never again.

    She would never be happy again.

    Natalie and Alex had sat for two hours watching the movie. Natalie had chosen something silly that looked so bad it was good. He seemed to enjoy it and she had as well. By the time they got out, it was time to head to the park for fireworks. Natalie was looking forward to it. Her first date with a guy, and in her favorite scenery. Not to mention, she was turning seventeen in two days. Two days! She'd be able to see R-Rated movies (not that it mattered, Alex was twenty and easily could get her into them). What's more, it would be her first birthday in a while with friends.

    Alas, nights like these could only last so long, and before long, it was all over. Alex walked her back to Estelle's place, and they said goodnight with a hug. Estelle was probably asleep, so Natalie would let her know all about everything tomorrow. She went into the bedroom and changed into her pajamas before climbing into bed and falling asleep. Things had definitely picked up since yesterday.

    Shane wasn't expecting Seraphina to move so close to him, nor her falling asleep on him. Her last request before she fell asleep was still fresh in his mind. Since he did know the layout of the house, it wouldn't be a good idea for him to start wandering around. So instead he took off his jacket and placed it around the two of them and eventually fell asleep next to her.

    After finishing the movie and heading home, Alex took a quick shower before heading to his room and falling asleep.

    Evan Allen Walker:
    {~~~Day 11(4/4)~~~December 31st, 2015, Friday~~~Location:Bar/Evan's House~~~Mood: Bro Moment~~~Music~~~Ooc:~~~}

    Evan had waited for Erik to return his greeting. Though Erik seemed a tad busy at the moment and looked like he was texting someone. Probably Cherry Red seeing as he did say they'd be hanging out today. Once done with whatever he was sending Erik, in all politeness, ordered the two of them drinks. He gave Erik money for his own and Ria's drink and began sipping it down. Ria looked a bit hesitant to go into hers, so Evan figured she must not have been of legal age yet. And drinking underage was ba- ahh who was Evan kidding. The free spirited man had totally not abided by that rule in his younger years. Ah memories...or lack there of for some of those times.

    After Ria playfully suggested that he was on some sort of vendetta Evan went along and said, "why yes I am, indeed. For you see each year this bar takes me in for a new year's eve and I must conquer all the hardships this establishment has to offer on my honor as a Walker." He said this all in a playfully dramatic way with slight emphatic gestures. However, boss man Erik seemed to not be paying his fullest attention to them. Evan could only assume that Cherry Red hadn't shown up yet and that was giving a bit of nervousness to him.

    After having a bro moment with Erik he and Ria finally went home, albeit the colorful man was a bit inebriated whilst doing so, but he still did it regardless. He set up his couch for Ria as she was spending the night with him once more and he finally went off to bed in nothing but his boxer shorts.

    His words hit her hard and brutally. She did not react, nor did she shed a single tear, but Jonathan knew that she was merely a time bomb of emotions just waiting to erupt. Once she took in the reality and once she realized the loneliness and void that her brother has brought....that is when it would burst. She thanked him, she acknowledged how hard his task really was, but he didn't give one damn about that, all he really cared about at the moment was how the girl was coping with the news.

    Jonathan felt her hand being placed on his shoulder and immediately he gripped her hand that was on his shoulder and shook his head. "Im just worried for you...listen...let me take you home...I don't want you roaming alone alright?" Jonathan said. He couldn't leave her, he couldn't abandon her and let her deal with this alone. With everything set, Jonathan helped Noelle get read and soon enough they were in a taxi heading off to the Chamber residence.

    The ride was silent and though Jonathan wished to at least say something to the girl in the end he couldn't. What could he exactly say to the girl that had lost her brother? he understood what she was going through, but even still he just didn't know what exactly to say. The taxi merely travelled on and soon enough they reached their destination. With the taxi parked, Jonathan merely did all that he could for Noelle. He paid for Noelle's trip and with that he rushed out and opened up the door for Noelle, helping her out of the vehicle like a true gentleman.

    Standing outside with Noelle was truly an awkward moment and looking off to the side, Jonathan merely scratched the back of his head, unable to think of what to say next. He heard her thank him and looking up at her he merely smiled a gentle smile at her. "No need to thank me...if you need anything...don't hesitate to ask me at all" Jonathan said before the two turned ways.

    He walked on and stared at the house, wishing the best for Noelle, but then the door reopened and out stood Mrs. Chambers who walked up to him, thanking him for bringing back her daughter. All Jonathan could really do was accept her thanks and before he knew it Ms.Chambers invited him to stay over. He didn't wish to be a burden, especially with what what going on, but the woman insisted and soon enough Jonathan accepted. If he could help out with this family and also help Noelle then he would be more then glad to have stayed. With his sleeping arrangements set, Jonathan rested his back and sighed. Noelle needed some time alone and right now the boy was so tired. Closing his eyes he drifted off to sleep.

    [ their eyes were watching god ]

    She was like a restless little bug, tossing and turning throughout much of the day. Not once in the bright afternoon light did she dare come out of her little cocoon of hospital linens and ripped black cranes, no. She did not feel content, nor did she feel sad, or angry, or dismal, or mortified, none of these. For Fatime felt nothing at all; a lifeless, soulless husk; a wasted cicada shell left to rot in the merciless winter light. And so she kept herself here. Safe, warm, never once wishing to reach out beyond her shell. The incentive was a lost cause.
    That is, until the very evening.

    By this point, the room was dark, with only a few feathers of moonlight shimmering through the wide blue window. Fatime kicked the blankets off of her body and looked around in the shadows. The tell-tale humming of quiet strung her ears around, and it was then that she realized how late it was, and how empty the hospital must have been.

    And ah yes, how she had missed New Years' Eve ...

    She looked to the sleeping lion of Professor Julius at the other bed. Her toes tingled at the feeling of the warmth she remembered, and this memory flushed her back into sense. Her eyes widened, and she looked down at her bony, pale fingers. They let off a slight tremble at her gaze, as if she was even fearful of her very own judgments.

    How long had the Professor been sleeping there? Ah ...
    She slowly lifted herself up, sitting on the bed, and picked up one of the black cranes she had left on her bedside table. With the fits of a gracious struggle, she tumbled the rest of the sheets away from her and stepped down onto the freezing floor. Fatime winced, and the tiles felt like icy barbs, but she pushed forward a foot and continued on, carrying the crane with her.

    When she reached Julius, she gently placed the crane on his chest, rising and falling slowly like the tides.
    It was a small gesture, and it did not serve to expel the glut of emotions that Fatime understood as a slurry of apathy at the world that killed her brother. But upon touching the crane to the Professor's body, she felt something unravel in her heart. Nothing enormous, or concrete, but perhaps simply the untying of a knot.

    << "Happy New Year," she whispered to him. >> Fatime quietly mumbled. She pressed a tiny hand to the Professor's forehead and felt the warmth of his body run through her fingers. Quickly now, Fatime briefly lowered her head and looked away.

    She walked away to the chair by Julius' bed, jumping onto it, curling up into a ball, and trying her best to go back to sleep. He had done so much for her.
    It was only natural she return the favour as the man's own guardian, of course ...

    Fatime eventually fell back asleep.

    Erik enjoyed his time spent with Evan and Maria, albeit, a bit remorsefully. He kept checking the time on his watch and glancing down at his phone. Nothing. He shook his head and let out a long sigh. What was going on with that kid lately? When Evan had decided that it was finally time for them to leave, he said goodbye to the pair who seemed to be in much higher spirits then when they arrived. Erik waved them goodbye and downed the last of his beer, tossing a tip onto the table before stalking his way out to his car. The drive home was quick and when he arrived, he threw his keys into the dish on the counter and slipped off his shoes. He sat down on the cedar chest and pulled out his phone. One more message before bed.

    To: Tuck

    ??? What happened to you?
    I waited for a long time.

    He sighed and shook his head. Erik left his phone in the entryway and lumbered his way down the hall to his bedroom where he stripped off the rest of his clothes. The sheets were cool around his bare skin, wearing only boxers, and he shivered once. He pulled the sheets up high and was lulled to sleep by the sweet affects of drinking too much.

    Maria had walked back with Evan to his place. He was stumbling all over the place. It was kind of cute actually. The clock struck midnight on their way and she reached up on her tip toes to give him a kiss on the cheek. She had almost managed to knock him off his feet, which made her giggle and snort with her buzz. When they got back, he prepped the couch once more and she took the proffered pajamas and changed quickly before snuggling in for sleep. Maybe things could get better. Maybe ...[DOUBLEPOST=1378273875][/DOUBLEPOST]Oliver never texted her back. Pierce had finished off her bottle at some point in time during the day, completely unaware of when. She was alone. She was still very much drunk, and she had found a bottle hidden in her mother's room. It was all she could seem to do. Pierce was lost and broken and confused. She was curled into a ball on her bed clutching the portrait of her father and a picture of herself with Sophie tightly to her body. Everything was blurry and hard to see. She blinked a few times, trying to focus, but to no avail. All the lights were off and it was pitch black in her room. The stereo had been playing a CD that she put in, but the disk ended hours ago and now gave off the feint noise of static from running electronics. Where was Sophie? She kept trying to call her best friend but no one would answer. It was voice mail after voicemail. Why was she ignoring her again? Pierce left a couple drunken slurred messages, then resorted to angrily hanging up the phone at the sound of her best friend's voice. Sophie was always selfish like this. It wasn't fair!

    She started sobbing again. Sophie is dead. Sophie is dead. It became sort of a mantra. If she didn't consistently remind herself, she would let her mind wander for too long. They were supposed to be together over break -- musical, movies, and other fun things. They had barely done any of that. She held the pictures closer and stared down at the blinding light of her phone. The words all blended together and nothing on the screen really made any sense. The bottle was within arm's length and she reached for it. Her fingers missed the first time, hitting nothing but air, while connecting with the cool glass of the bottle the second. She untwisted the top and pressed it to her mouth. How much had she drank? Too much of course. It didn't matter. So what if she drank too much? Her mom worked for the hospital. Plus, it meant things didn't hurt so much that way. It would be so easy to drink too much. She just needed a few more pulls and then she would never have to hurt again.

    Her eyes burned. They were puffy and red. Her cheeks were damp and her lips salty. She couldn't stay in bed anymore. She needed to find Sophie. Or her mom. Where did daddy go? Daddy. Pierce unwound her arms and let the objects fall limp on the bed. She crawled her way out of bed, but when she tried to stand to walk, she fell flat on her face. A giggle escaped her, followed by more crying. Pierce pulled herself to her feet and tripped over her own feet as she made her way to the staircase. When she reached the top of the steps, her chocolate brown eyes roamed over each one until they landed on the bottom. That was a long ways down -- not really -- and falling would be terrifying. She rested both hands on the banister and stepped delicately to the bottom.

    She missed the last three steps. Her head hit the tile floor and her limbs were sprawled out around her. Pierce made an attempt to get up that ended horribly. She pulled herself across the floor a small distance, before completely passing out on the ground in the kitchen.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ryder post will have to wait for tomorrow. Cannot elaborate on the details of the date today, but when he went to bed, his smile was radiant and electric. He fell asleep quickly and happily.
    As the hours passed, the duo continued to watch Adventure Time. There seemed to be a marathon of the popular show... not that they were complaining, Over the course of their time together, they munched down on popcorn and some pizza rolls while snuggled tightly together. At every appearance of Princess Bubblegum, Elisa would elaborate on how one day her single princess status would be lifted and she would finally be together with someone. Of course, she included Richie in her fantasies too, explaining how he would one day find his prince as well. It was all very kawaii...! (◡‿◡✿)
    At the close of an episode, Elisa's phone vibrated and she secretly checked it, her back facing the boy. He attempted to peer over her shoulder, but she was clever enough to block him, making this and all his future attempts futile. A thought crossed his mind, that the one texting his best friend was Ryder, but he quickly shooed it away. If he wanted to speak with Elisa, he would have just come downstairs. Texting her wouldn't make much sense, right?
    Turning back to Richie and sliding the phone in her pocket, the turquoise teen stammered, "U-um... that was my mom. I... I have to go now sorry!! Text you later!" The girl shot straight up and kissed the blonde's cheek quickly, then hurriedly made her way to the door. She blew him another kiss with a cute wink and left just like that.
    .x.x.x?
    Sighing, the boy tuned in for about half of another Adventure Time episode. At one of the numerous commercial breaks, Richie decided to clean up the duo's food mess, dumping the popcorn bowl and pizza roll plate in the kitchen sink. Turning on the water and grabbing the sponge, he began to wash the dishes. Footsteps from the stairs could be heard faintly over the running tap, causing the boy to arch back and peer at the foot of the stairs in the other room. Ryder appeared and vanished out the door in almost an instant, saying as he went, "Hey Richie I'll be back later, going to the skate park to hang. Don't wait up..."
    .xx.xx.xx?
    What was going on?? First Elisa left in a hurry, and now Ryder? That was way too weird to be a coincidence... but it had to be! Richie practically bashed it into his skull that his idea of Ryder using Cupid's Brew was out of the question.
    It was just a coincidence... of course it was...
    The blonde made his way upstairs sluggishly. Once he reached his room, he stripped down and plopped onto his comfortable bed. This was way early for him to go to bed, but he wasn't in the mood for computer shenanigans for once. He missed Elisa desperately, and her and Ryder's sudden disappearances within such close proximity to each other left a rotten feeling in the pit of his stomach. He snuggled into his pillow, allowing himself to fall asleep, the confused feelings soon dissipating...
    A soft moan escaped him as he rolled onto his other side. His upper lash line and waterline felt like they were stitched together, not letting his eyes open to the morning. Was it even morning? He wasn't exactly sure. He was awake though - barely - and no matter what the time actually was, it felt all too early for him.
    The cherry haired man wished to go back to sleep so he melted into the soft mattress and snuggled under the thick covers, pulling it up to his neck - or at least trying. There was a soft tug on the comforter that didn't allow him to pull the covers on completely. Hm. That was strange. He pulled on it lightly once more, but the same thing happened and honestly he had little energy for fighting back so he let the bed covers win this round.
    To compensate, he shimmered his body down from the pillow and let the covers go over him but just then, something... foreign seemed to brush against his cheek. It felt soft yet a little tough, but definitely gentle and small. Curious, he forced his eyes open to look at whatever that was. It took a couple seconds for his vision to clear and a couple more for him to figure out what he was staring at. However, when it finally hit him what - or rather, who - he was staring down at his cheeks immediately reddened, eyes widened and his body tensed.
    His heart felt like it was going to leap out of his chest and his bones felt like they turned into crystal. His eyes danced around her sleeping form. She looked really adorable and fragile. Her thick lashes floated above her soft skin and every time she took a breath her body rose and fell ever so slightly. So delicate... He could feel the warmth from her body as he realized how close he was from her. He gulped and blushed even harder, his mind immediately going into hyperdrive. He couldn't believe he was at Freya's home right now - and more so, had fallen asleep next to her on New Year's!
    He looked down at her once more and this time, a smile curled on his lips because the more he looked at her the more he remembered how they spent New Year's Eve. He had such a rough day but the moment he had stepped into Freya's house everything just got better. It was a little awkward at first and he couldn't understand why he was feeling so nervous about seeing her but eventually they began chatting and it suddenly seemed like the two couldn't stop that even time couldn't compete.
    He cautiously reached out and stroked her hair very gently, hoping not to wake her. This closeness... he was honestly scared. Very scared. Especially with what he grew up with and the back of his mind still flashed some unwanted and unpleasant imagery. This caused his body to stay frozen and his heart to continue racing but despite this, there was another feeling and it was ever so curious. Tucker couldn't exactly understand it. It was strange. It was new - well, okay, not really. If he had to compare it to one time, it was like the time Maria had kissed him before. It was weird that something that seemed taboo to him would feel so lovely and great. He definitely enjoyed the idea even though he was still confused and frightened.
    I'm glad you're okay, Tucker, I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to you I...I really care about you.
    He remembers when she said that and it felt the same too. He blushed and flushed and felt scared and silly but there was this good feeling he couldn't seem to drive away. Especially when she mentioned she would allow him to stay. It flipped a switch in his brain that went 'Danger! Danger! Disengage! Disengage! Abort the mission!' but at the same time, when he looked deep into her eyes after avoiding it so much, that feeling rose and he knew that he would regret it and that it would be absolutely wrong for him to leave her - and that's exactly what willed him to stay.
    He pulled his hand back and stared at her for a minute more before he rolled onto his back and looked blankly at the ceiling. He was beginning to wake which meant that the chances to fall asleep again were slimming. He looked at the table to the side and realized his phone sat there, the little green light blinking which meant he had some unread messages. When he grabbed it and opened it, he was shocked to find them all to be from Erik.
    To: Tuck
    Hey man, what's taking so long?
    You're late and you'll
    never guess who just walked into
    the bar to join us. Hurry up!
    To: Tuck
    ??? What happened to you?
    I waited for a long time.
    Oh god. He completely forgot. He gasped out softly, feeling completely awful for a moment. He didn't even text, he just left him waiting there. Left them (whoever them was) waiting for him. Oh this was terrible. He bit down at his lips as his eye brows furrowed. He quickly glanced to his side again, looking at Freya and as each second passed as he looked at her, he began to feel a lot less awful. He let out a small sigh and began to type up a response.
    To: Erik
    I'm sorry. I am so so so sorry. I completely forgot. It slipped
    my mind and it will never happen again!! God, I feel awful.
    How can I make it up to you bro? : (
    He hit send and hoped Erik would respond to him soon. He really hoped he could patch up and do something to really make up for missing out on some New Year brother bonding. He placed his phone back down on the side desk and rolled onto his side again, facing Freya.
    He shouldn't wake her. That would be rude but... but he did want to do something. He looked around the room for a moment, hesitating if he should or shouldn't do it. He licked his upper lip nervously. Why did it matter she was asleep anyway? They probably fell asleep the same way too. Hm.
    He looked down at her again. He studied how she moved along with her breathing and her thick eyelashes and the small marks on her skin. That little dorky smile curled on the corner of his lips. Oh, what the heck. Impulsively, he edged closer and rested his head by hers then draped an arm over her small body and snuggled into her lightly. He let his eyelids fall. He smiled.
    Now, there was that great feeling again.
    Maria finally managed to wake before Evan. It was a relief. She still wasn't eating and she couldn't pretend to cram more bacon down her throat. What she needed right now was to leave. It was hurting her too much to sit here. All her free thoughts were heavily consumed with negative emotions. She got off the couch and dressed quickly, leaving a note for Evan in the kitchen. It thanked him for his hospitality and trying so hard to cheer her up. She also added a small section about how she couldn't keep wearing the same clothes and unfortunately needed to go home. Maria slipped his jacket on over her poncho and headed out the door. She had decided that after going back to the apartment,she would stop at the hospital. Noëlle never replied. The girl had to be even more devastated than she. She would visit Julius, then check to see if Noëlle was still there or not. If not, the only other option would be to pay the Chambers a visit. There was a bus stop near Evan's apartment and even though she was wretched with the bus routes, Maria had decided to take it home.
    Maybe I should just move out. Then I don't have to deal with him and he won't look at me like a burden for not working. That would mean getting a job. Maria had never worked a day in her life. That would be interesting. When the bus rolled up, she pulled out some change and got on. The ride home was relatively uninterrupted. When she walked up to the apartment building, there was a sense of dread that coursed through her. She checked her phone which was lacking messages [ surprise, surprise ] and grabbed her purse. She had to take the elevator to the third floor. The bell chimed and she stepped out onto her floor. Maria had to rifle for her keys, but by the time she reached her door, she noticed it wide open. There was something off with that. Stephan would never just leave the door open.
    She pushed on it slightly and it swung open. Her blue eyes fell on the deadbolt and noticed it busted. Whomever came into the house had broke the lock. She took a careful step into the entry. There were no sounds coming from within the apartment, but she was still nervous. Her hands gripped the bag tightly and she stuck her key between two fingers to use as a hidden weapon if need be. Her breathing caught in her throat when she noticed the state of the kitchen and living room. EAP's food dish was knocked over and a serious wave of panic rose up in her. She was more terrified for the small kitten then for herself. Was he even still in the apartment. With the front door being open he could have ran out. She should have taken the stairs! Tears pricked at the back of her eyes. The living room was in an uproar. The rest of the house didn't look any better.
    No one appeared to be present. They had already came and went with a good amount of big ticket items. There was a note on the broken coffee table. A torn off sheet of paper with sloppy handwriting that read: ❛ We're only half even. ❜ What did that mean? Were they going to come back? Was it the same people that attacked her after the movie? There was only one thing she could determine for certain and that was it being a message for her brother. What did he do?
    She swallowed down a lump in her throat that seemed to settle dead center in her chest. Her voice cracked as she called out for the kitten. ❝ EAP? EAP where are you? Are you in here baby? ❞ Maria thought she heard a muffled mewing coming from her bedroom. Her jello legs seem to move on their own as she rushed to her room. It was just as trashed as the rest of the place. Her laptop was missing from its spot on the desk, but that mattered little. The mewing was coming from her closet. Thank God! She flung the door open and a pair of golden eyes stared up at her from the darkest corner of the walk-in. ❝ EAP! ❞ She dropped to her knees and scooped up the small animal in her arms, hugging him close.
    Maria sat in the corner of the closet with him. She buried her face in his soft black fur and whispered reassuring words meant for the both of them. Tears streaked her face and she shut the closet door in front of her. What if those people came back wanting more? She needed to get out of here, but she just couldn't bring herself to move. Call the police! The three words played over and over in her head but she couldn't do anything but hold the kitten and tell him how it would all be okay. Stephan was to blame and he refused to tell her why. Things were only getting worse. If she moved out, would they still be a threat? Would whomever attacked her attack her again in her new place? If she had a roommate, would that then put them at stake? This was only half over. That meant there was still more to come. What was even happening? It hurt her head. Her phone lit up at her feet as she sat curled into a crying ball, but she ignored it. After about fifteen seconds the screen went black and she was surrounded in darkness once more.
    What was happening? She couldn't do this anymore. There wasn't anyone to ask for help. Did she deserve to ask someone for help? Clearly if this much bad stuff was happening, she did something immensely wrong. Her heart ached. Sob after sob wracked her body. Stephan was untrustworthy. Noëlle was probably in a similar state. Bryan is dead. She just left Evan. She couldn't bare to tell him that something happened the moment she left the sanctity of his home. And Tucker -- she told Tucker it would be better if they weren't friends, but all she wanted right now was him. He was supposed to like her too. It was definitely happening, so what changed? She hiccupped a sob and groped for her phone in the darkness. She had no right to call him or anyone. Maria felt like she would disappear in the blackness of her closet. There. Her hand connected with the phone. She pressed the lock button and the closet filled with light once more. Maria wiped her face on Evan's sleeve and scrolled through to Tucker'snumber before pressing call. It rang. And rang. And rang. Voicemail. She bit down on her lip to suppress another sob.
    "Tucker... I - I'm sorry for what I said. You probably - probably don't want to talk to me after that and I can understand w - why, but I didn't know who else to call." She sniffled. "There's something up with Stephan and I was attacked for it. Now the apartment has been ransacked. I just ... I don't know what to do. Evan doesn't get it last night he thought dragging me to the bar would help. I didn't. Sure, Erik was there, but we didn't talk about anything particular. Noëlle is probably out of her mind right now and Bryan's ... Bryan's dead. How can he be dead? Tucker, what happened to you -- to us? After I kissed you and you opened up to me at Christmas I thought ... well I thought we were working towards an actual relationship. If you didn't feel that way, you were supposed to say something. I told you to. Then the other day it was like nothing ever happened and you were wearing that smile you give me but it wasn't - it wasn't directed at me. Who was texting you? I'm sorry. I just don't know what to do. I'm going to visit Julius and then Noëlle. Maybe later we -- later Tucker." She hung up. She couldn't ask him to see her. It wasn't fair to him. The whole voicemail wasn't fair to him.
    She shoved the phone in her pocket and buried her face in EAP's fur, sucking in the sweet smell of kitten. She put him down and crawled out of the closet. She needed to get out of her house. She couldn't be there. Maria only wished she could take EAP with her. She walked out the front door and found her Jetta parked in its usual space. There was a face sized dent in the roof that made her cringe before getting in and driving towards the hospital.
    Seraphina opened her eyes slowly as the morning's light entered through the Observatory. She remembered now, that they didn't make it to the party. She also remembered that her parents were lurking around the house, probably wondering where she had gone. Even though her parents would potentially embarrass her, she brushed the thought off. She could hear Shane's heart beating, her head on his chest, both of them still lying on the couch. She was so close to him, she debated whether or not she wanted to get up. She moved her hand from her said, and warped one of her arms around his waist, and moved closer to him. It couldn't hurt if she lied down just a little while longer.
    Estelle had woken up, deciding that it was better not to bug Nat. She would let her sleep in for today. She looked out a window as she took a sip of her coffee. After she had showered and gotten ready, she decided to wake her. "Hey Nat." She said, opening the curtains in the room, letting the nice warm morning sun into it.
    "Rise and Shine Sleeping Beauty." Estelle said. "We have a long day of doing absolutely nothing a head of us." She started to laugh. "You DO realize that I was just trying to leave you 2 aloneeee so you could have happy fun times together, I really didn't have to go do anything. Well, Vega would've forgot so it's good that I did but you get the picture." She laughed.
    "So, tell me the details about last Night." She asked, putting a breakfast tray on her bed, and then getting breakfast for herself. "It went great didn't it? I can just tell." Estelle did a little dance then sat back down. "So, How did it go?" She asked. "I want to hear all about it." She winked, taking a piece of toast and stuffing into her mouth.
    "Hey Nat."
    Suddenly sun. Ugh...
    "Rise and Shine Sleeping Beauty. We have a long day of doing absolutely nothing a head of us."
    She was being woken up for this? Natalie yawned, sat up, and rubbed her eyes. "That sounds promising..."
    "You DO realize that I was just trying to leave you 2 aloneeee so you could have happy fun times together, I really didn't have to go do anything. Well, Vega would've forgot so it's good that I did but you get the picture."
    Wow. Estelle was horrible about keeping her own secrets.
    "So, tell me the details about last Night. It went great didn't it? I can just tell."
    Natalie nodded, got up, and began to change. She didn't care if Estelle saw. Not like she was Lexi or anything. Hell, even Alex wouldn't get to see for a while. "Well-"
    "So, How did it go? I want to hear all about it."
    Natalie shook her head. "I was getting to it. Jeez." she cleared her throat. "Anyway, after you made us leave, we headed to the movie. It was pretty bad, but we enjoyed making fun of it. After that, we held hands all the way to the park. We were both quiet a lot of the way and barely really talked. It's weird. But yeah. Then we got to the park and I leaned on him while we watched the fireworks, and he finally walked me back home." Natalie looked around, then leaned into Estelle's ear. "And, at the coffee shop," she whispered, "I gave him some Cupid's Brew." Natalie then showed her friend the small vial. Natalie trusted Estelle enough to reveal her methods. She giggly threw it upward and caught it on the way back down. "It didn't really work though, he didn't drink the coffee. Even so, that may have made him fall out of love with me, so I'm glad it didn't." she concluded with a smile.
    ‹|??? ??? ???|›
    Freya lay in bed, a warm presence wrapped around her body. She parted her eyes just enough to see what this warmth was. The feeling of sleep still blurring her vision, she saw a figure laying next to her with bright red hair. She closed her eyes again, thinking on this warm red-headed figure for just a moment.
    Freya awoke instantly at the realization that this was Tucker. She immediately remembered the events of last night, how she's invited him to stay with her, how she'd led him to her room and how they drifted off to sleep in each other's arms. She couldn't believe it, but she didn't want this moment to end. Freya drew closer to Tucker and closed her eyes, drifting back to sleep for a few moments. She awoke again to the feeling of Tucker shifting around a bit, he seemed to be texting someone. He put the phone back down and for a moment seemed to hesitate, but pulled himself close to her and draped an arm around her. She opened her eyes slightly to meet his, the morning light gleaming in through the window danced on his cheek and seemed to make his whole face glow.
    H..happy New Year...
    She whispered softly. Her eyes locked with his and she couldn't help but smile.
    I'm...glad you decided to stay, Tucker.
    She blushed, breaking eye contact and blushing with embarrassment, shuffling her feet under the warm covers. She never wanted this feeling to end, but she knew the day had to begin. Tucker looked back at the nightstand, where his phone lay. She knew he probably had places to be. She didn't care, she wanted to stay with Tucker forever.
    Will you stay with me here...for a little while longer?
    Feeling the body move beneath him, he opened his eyes which immediately locked onto Freya's. Color raced to his cheeks and his lips squeezed into a tight line. He began to draw back from their little embrace.
    H..happy New Year...
    Her voice was in a soft whisper. One only someone as close as he was next to her could hear. His heart fluttered at the sound of her voice and the sweet look in her eyes. He straightened out a bit on the bed, leaning more towards his back and drawing his hand back onto his side. He nervously gave her a small smile and murmured back "Happy New Year."
    She smiled back and his heart leaped happily once more. This up close, the man began to take notice of all the little details on her face again and how beautifully they all seemed to mesh together - especially with that happy expression on her face.
    I'm...glad you decided to stay, Tucker.
    He wanted to voice out how he was glad he stayed too but it suddenly didn't seem like he could. Getting out that little response from him already took such effort. He simply gave a nod with the smile that never seemed to fade. Immediately, the teenager's face flushed and Tucker's smile grew even wider. She was absolutely adorable and every passing second made him feel better and better and better. It was like all of the sudden, all his worries faded away and everything was okay. The only thing on his mind was her and this closeness that strangely didn't struck as much fear into his system as it usually did. He liked the closeness. It was such a weird feeling and usually, Tucker being the curious man he was, would stray away from it and be cautious and get to the bottom of it. He usually needed some explanation so it would make sense in that weird head of his but not today. Not this time. He didn't understand it and he didn't mind at all.
    Suddenly, soft buzzing caught his attention at the night stand and he shifted his position and to look at it. The phone on the nightstand vibrated more than once, meaning it was a call. Oh! It was probably Erik! That was good. He twisted his body more to reach his phone but before his finger tips could even graze over its smooth surface,
    Will you stay with me here...for a little while longer?
    He froze completely for a second and then slowly turned back to her. He looked deeper into those charming eyes of her. Oh god, they were almost telling him he had no choice! He gulped down. He couldn't possibly stay though, as much as he wanted to. He smiled at her and tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear, he cleared his throat and smiled, "I'm sorry, I can't." I can't possibly be anymore trouble for you and I have to meet Erik, I kind of bailed on him last night... for you. Oh. Um. I'm not saying this out loud aren't I? Err... "Next time?"
    It was obviously a lot better in his head but with that he peeled the covers off from his body and he sat up, swinging his legs off from the bed. He began to put his shoes on and stuffed his phone in his pocket. He'd check it later. By this time, Freya had gotten up to and the young girl showed him out the door.
    He scratched the back of his head nervously and looked at her. She seemed quite upset and that made his heart sink. He turned to look at the morning streets of the first day of 2016 outside then back at her. He cleared his throat to get her attention, "H-hey, thanks for having me over. I really had a... um... I really had a great... a great time. Th-thank you." he said. His voice was shaky and he forced out a smile. He was about to turn around when he stopped suddenly, turned back and leaned down and gave her a peck on the cheek. Their eyes met for a second and as impulsively as he kissed her, he smiled that huge dorky smile of his with flushed cheeks and he muttered another goodbye before hurrying off to his car.
    His heart was racing. He didn't exactly know what he was feeling. It was like he was on a cloud and he suddenly had so much energy. He hopped into his car and decided that he'd make his way to Erik's. He stopped by to grab some breakfast from the cafe before he headed over. He didn't even bother to fix his hair or any of his wrinkled clothing as he stepped out of his car and walked over to the front door of Erik's home. He rang the door and waited outside, still having a smile on his face.
    The boy felt groggy, but pretty cheery when he awoke. He dreamed about what adventures him and Elisa would do in the future, activities like making more videos, trying out new restaurants in town, just relaxing at the park together, and even more extravagant ones like traveling to foreign countries [ specifically Richie's favorites: France, Japan, and South Korea ]. Blindly searching for his phone, the blonde eventually managed to find it and unlock it. He held the phone inches away from his face, tempted to text Elisa to see what happened last night. After giving it some thought, he tossed the iPhone to the side and sighed. If she left in such a hurry, especially considering that they were having such a great time together, then surely it must have been something really important. She would need some space to sort it out, and as much as it pained him, Richie had to allow her that time for herself.
    As he dressed, his mind wondered about his twin. Ryder also left in a hurry last night, but he would be home by now so he could question him about his abrupt leaving. He knocked on his bedroom door.
    ...No answer.
    Maybe he was asleep? Opening the door a crack, the boy peered into his brother's room.
    ...Empty.
    Maybe he crashed on the couch? Making his way downstairs, Richie inspected the living room, eyeing the empty couch.
    ...N O P E.
    Where could Ryder have gone? As much as he tried to be a rebel or badass, he always was home by the time Richie awoke. Oh well, the boy wouldn't let his best friend's and brother's disappearances get him down like it did last night. He had dreamed well for a change, so he knew today was going to be a good day. Calmly walking into the kitchen, the blonde began to make some delicious breakfast!
    Although he found it quite difficult, Jonathan awoke bright and early in the morning, raising up from his resting place and stretching his arms out. With a sigh his day began and after wrapping up the blanket that he used to sleep with, Jonathan went about and started his day. Things that he needed to know were provided to him, but wanting to make it up to the Chambers for letting him stay for the night, Jonathan decided to help around the house in whatever way he could.
    Little messes were cleaned up and little things that the Chambers hadn't had the time to solve were dealt with. Through out this he thought of how Noelle was doing, but he really didn't want to bug her at the moment so she could at least get some rest. Julius was recovering quite fast so there really wasn't any worry or need for him to visit each other. If anything the two would start to brawl the moment they set eyes upon one another.
    After some time Jonathan closed his eyes and took a deep breath in as he walked upstairs. He feared for the girl's mentality and he hoped that the girl didn't do something rash. Loosing a loved one was a heavy blow and to just have it sink in all at once was maddening. Jonathan was always glad that he was able to help Noelle out of that bus, but what if he had checked the cars? what if he did so and was able to save Bryan from death? none of this sadness would be spread around and Noelle could have been happy. It was true that it seemed that there was no hope for Bryan after the bus hit those two cars, but there was always a chance he never got to investigate...and so whether justified or not, Jonathan took some fault in the death of Bryan.
    Closing his eyes, Jonathan stood before the door that led to Bryan's room and let out a sigh. He was extremely nervous, but he knew he just couldn't leave the girl alone like this. Making up his mind, Jonathan knocked on the door "Hey...Noelle? Is Jonathan...." Jonathan said softly before scratching the back of his head "wanna come down for something to eat? If not I can keep you company...err..if you'd like that..." Jonathan said. Eating would be hard for her and he wasn't sure if Noelle wished to be alone, but regardless Jonathan made an attempt.
    Ryder sighed softly in his sleep, brushing his cheek against the familiar, soft, delicateness of hair. He yawned and tightened his embrace on the body beside him. His face was nuzzled into a neck and he breathed in the sweet smell. This felt wonderful. He hugged Elisa closer to him, hardly able to believe last night happened at all. He kept forcing himself awake to make sure she was still beside him. She was. He was in her bed, in her home -- fully clothed -- and happier than he could ever remember being.
    A thought crossed his mind, but only briefly. Was this because of Cupid's Brew? He came to the solace that he really didn't care. He was happy. That was all that mattered. Whether it be by sheer luck or some magic potion, Ryder got what he wanted. Elisa. He pressed a kiss lightly at the base of her throat, then proceeded to bury his face in her short turquoise hair. It always looked lovely on her, both long and short. The ends tickled his nose and he blew lightly on them. The warmth of her body pressed against his caused a flush all over. As he laid there, wrapped in Elisa, he couldn't help but think about everything that led up to this moment.
    He had come downstairs for something to eat. Richie and Elisa were watching some stupid show on television and geeking out together. As he walked past the living room, Ryder couldn't help but linger. He stood in the archway for a long time, occasionally making awkward eye contact with Elisa. Richie hadn't seemed to see him which was good. His twin was too engrossed in the show. After a few minutes, he walked away and made his trek back up to his room. Time seemed to be dragging on forever. The clock wouldn't move fast enough. He had already gone through all of his usual predate routines and was finding himself too anxious for video games. He sat there on his small couch, and sat there.
    Finally, when it was a decent enough hour to go, Ryder sucked in a deep breath and pulled up Elisa's name in his phone. She needed an excuse to leave. They couldn't just walk out the door together. Richie would want to be included. Plus, this was her time with her best friend she was bailing on. He started to form a message to her. If she could come up with some sort of excuse, then he could take off shortly after.
    To: Elisa
    R u ready? Make sumthin up 2 leave.
    i'll head out a few min l8r. w8 in my
    car.
    He pressed send and breathed out. Ryder pocketed his phone and put on the jacket and hat Elisa got him for his birthday. Then, he slipped quietly out of his bedroom and lingered at the top of the stairs. Sure enough, the front door opened and closed after a few minutes. All right. He checked the time on his phone. Ryder didn't want her to wait out in the cold for too long. He watched the numbers slowly tick by. After fifteen minutes, sound came from the kitchen and he figured it was as good enough as any to take off. He hurried down the stairs. "Hey Richie I'll be back later, going to the skate park to hang. Don't wait up..." he called loudly before rushing out the door. Ryder didn't wait for a response. He didn't really care as to what Richie had to say. For all it mattered, he could have left without a word.
    Ryder expected his car to be empty when he reached it. The fact that there was a familiar head of blue hair inside the fogged up windows made his heart leap. He slowed down his walking pace and opened the door. A coy smile spread on his face as he got inside and started the car, sans skateboard -- obviously he was not going to the skate park in the winter at night to ' hang. ' Warmth flooded the space immediately and he rubbed his hands together in front of the air vent without looking at Elisa. This was more intimidating than he imagined. It's by no means the first time they had ever done anything together, but it was the first time it was labeled as a date. "Hey," he greeted her sheepishly as he put the car in drive.
    "Hey," she responded.
    He turned on the stereo and backed out of the driveway. Ryder couldn't handle much interaction right now. He used the drive and the music to try and think of what to do once they arrived at the park. The sheer fact that he had a date kept him from actually making plans for said date. He is an idiot. He shook his head and watched the road in front of him. It actually wasn't too bad out. That was fortunate for New Year's Eve. It would be cold standing outside, but hopefully not intolerable.
    When they arrived, he parked the car and helped Elisa out. The fireworks would still be awhile yet. His mind was in about a thousand places and he hadn't come up with any good ideas as to what they should do prior. Ryder locked his car and they began their walk through the park. It was silent and awkward at first. The just kind of walked. Then, Elisa pulled out her camera. Of course she brought her camera. She couldn't go anywhere without it, could she? It was kind of cute in a way, not that he would admit it aloud. Elisa started taking pictures of everything. Trees. The fountain. Other people. Ryder scowled until she turned and pointed the camera at him. It clicked and flashed and he glowered at him. "Hey! You know I don't like my picture taken." His voice didn't have its usual bitterness to it when she would snap pics of him. Ryder cleared his throat and scratched nervously at the back of his neck.
    She giggled and took another before running forward to get better angles. Ryder chased after her. "Elisa you're gonna fall like that!" It was slippery and she could be clumsy at times. He caught up to her panting and furrowed his brows, but there was a smile on his face. He watched her take more pictures and tried to think of something to end the silence that stretched on between them. Ryder was grasping at straws when he remembered something about a photography camp. Bingo. "Hey uh, Elisa, you never did tell me about that camp you went to this week." That seemed to be the right thing to say. She immediately began to open up, telling him all about the people she met and the things she learned. Elisa demonstrated a few on the camera and he nodded along smiling. She seemed to go on about it for ages, but he didn't mind. The tension was finally broken. On occasion she would point the camera back at him and take a picture, much to his disapproval.
    While she was in the middle of showing him some sort of lens filtering trick, a boom and crackle went off high overhead. They both looked up to see the first of the fireworks. "Shit. They're starting," he cursed. Elisa grabbed his hand and pulled the both of them forward to get a better view. Ryder's heart started racing at the contact. His skin already felt like pins and needles from the cold, but now he was beginning to warm up quickly. His face which was originally flushed from the cold, was now flushed crimson from blushing. He had to keep reminding himself that this wasn't the first time things like this happened in order to calm down, but it didn't really help. The truth was, this is the first time this has happened. They were on a date, and it might as well have been like the first time they had ever done something together before.
    The came to a near a three - foot retaining wall. Elisa was still holding his hand as they both leaned back against the wall and looked up. The fireworks were great. The glow of her blue hair in the flashing lights was beautiful. Blood pounded in his ears and he wondered if Elisa could hear his rapid heart beat. It thumped loudly in his chest and he cleared his throat nervously. Their breath puffed out in little white clouds before them and he glanced down at her when she shivered. "Are you cold?" he asked her.
    "A little."
    Ryder slipped his hand out of hers and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling Elisa in close to his side. She had been taking pictures of the fireworks with her free hand, but set the camera down once he put his arm around her. She slipped her hands around his torso and pulled herself even closer. His breathing hitched for a moment and he exhaled a shuddering breath. Dates had always been kind of stressful and awkward before, but it was easy for him to breeze through them no problem. This one was different. Everything seemed to fall into place, but it didn't stop the constant nagging that he might be doing something wrong. Ryder tried to think back through every conversation he had ever overheard Elisa exchange with Richie. He knew she had been on dates before, but he had no idea how far she had ever gotten with any of them. He couldn't remember a time when she ever really had an actual boyfriend. It made him gulp nervously. That only put the pressure on further. He had to do it right, even if some of him was fighting against the right thing.
    "I can't believe this is actually happening," he muttered to himself. At the feel of her arms around him, he glanced down. His heart was going crazy and it only seemed to get worse when their blue eyes met. She rested her head on his chest and they both looked up to watch the fireworks display. This was a smart choice. He could be romantic too. Ryder had been forced to sit through enough chick flicks with Elisa and his twin to know what kind of things she and every other girl wanted on a date. He licked his lips. He needed to do something. The fireworks would end soon. Like the cool guy he was, he reached behind them for the camera. Ryder held it out at arms length to take a picture and with his hand that wrapped around her shoulders, he lifted her chin.
    Elisa stared up at him like a deer caught in headlights and for a minute he thought he had crossed the line somehow. She looked ready to reject him, but then stood on her tip toes -- her body rubbing against his side -- and lifted her head for the kiss. It was incredible. His fingers were trembling as he pressed the button on the camera. His heart seemed to swell five sizes in his chest. His cheeks were burning and Elisa's lips were so incredibly soft and perfect. He parted her mouth open with his and pulled her in closer. His fingers wound through her turquoise hair and he felt like he couldn't get enough. When they finally pulled away, he was breathless. Ryder gasped for air, but didn't take his eyes off hers. Perfect.
    He cleared his throat a bunch and pulled at his collar. His voice cracks as he tries to speak. "Um.... That was... That was..." He was too stunned to say anything. Amazing. Heaven. Perfect. Better than I could have imagine. All of those things sounded super lame and ridiculous. Even if he wanted to say them, he could never manage something that embarrassing. He turned the camera around to see the picture -- he wouldn't have to say anything this way -- and his heart sank. His expression visibly fell and he pressed his lips into a line. "That - that came out really bad. I'm ah ... I'm clearly n-no good at taking pictures like that..." He sounded completely embarrassed and disappointed by the shaky blurred image.
    Elisa giggled which only made him feel worse. She took the camera with a raised brow and laughed loudly. He narrowed his gaze at her feeling offended. She could at least be nice about it. Elisa repositioned the camera, holding it out in front of them once more, before turning to face him. She tip toed up to his height again and breathed out, "It's like this," before kissing him a second time. There was a click, but Ryder barely heard it. His mind was filled with the sweet scent and taste of Elisa. She seemed to fill all of his senses. Her giggling laughter echoed through his ears. The sweet way she always smelled. The taste of her mouth on his. The feel of her lips and the perfect way her body fit against his. Her smile burned at the back of his eyes, even with them shut. Everything was completely enveloped in her. When they broke apart, there was no longer any nervous laughter or awkwardness. It was just pure bliss.
    Ryder felt like he was on cloud nine. Nothing mattered but this moment, at least, until he realized that the fireworks ended. He looked up at the blackened sky and laughed. "Looks like we missed the finale." His eyes fell back to hers and blushed. "Or not..." He smiled and they just stood there in the darkness of the park at midnight. "Happy New Year," he whispered into her ear. There was another giggle before Elisa whispered a 'Happy New Year,' back. She yawned. His heart sank a little as he brushed the hair out of her face.
    "It's getting late," she said between yawns.
    He nodded. "How about I take you home?" She grabbed her camera and he walked her back to the car. With the press of a button on his keys, the doors unlocked and he opened hers for her. Ryder shuffled around the car, climbing in quickly and starting the engine. Heat blasted him in the face. While he should have been frozen and quickly beginning to thaw, he had actually stopped feeling cold a long time ago. He glanced over at Elisa in the passenger seat and gave her a small smile before backing the car out of the parking space and pulling out onto the road.
    He propped his elbow up and rested his chin on his hand. His blue eyes were filled with adoration as he brushed her hair behind her ear. When Elisa finally began to stir, he smiled down at her. "Morning," he whispered to the half asleep girl.
