"They're great. Probably the best presents I'll get today."

The young girl on her lap obviously didn't like what her older brother just said and scowled at him. Ryder tapped her lightly on the nose, "Aside from your gifts, that is."

Pleased, Ariella bounced on her lap and began eating her own food again. Elisa brushed the little girl's hair with her fingers, giggling slightly at what just happened. She was really glad Ryder liked her presents and that he wasn't just saying he was - because really he wouldn't do that. If he didn't like it, he'd probably say it right at her face but he didn't. In fact, he even smiled!

"Are you hungry? Mom just finished cooking breakfast."

Just as she was about to politely deny the offer, the blonde boy next to her cut up a piece of pancake and held it out to her. "Oh! Thank you!" she said happily, not really expecting to be fed. She took a bite, chewed and swallowed. Mrs. Duvont made glorious pancakes. It was so, so delicious! Yummy yummy got Elisa's tummy indeed.

Suddenly, footsteps came from the staircase. The turquoise teen's head immediately snapped towards the direction with a huge grin. Richie was awake! Hooray!!

She lifted Ariella again as she stood up and placed the young girl back into her seat. Elisa already knew what was going to happen and soon enough, just as she predicted, it did. Richie popped out into her line of vision and squealed excitedly as he ran over to her. She squealed as well and giggled as she hugged her best friend super-extra tightly and kissed him on both of his cheeks then hugged him again with a little snuggle and exclaimed happily "Happy happy birthday Richie!!"

Elisa grabbed the blue, polkadot part hat on the table and strapped that onto her best friend's head after he kissed and hugged his sister and greeted his brother. While he did that, Elisa made sure to take photographs of the Duvont kids. They were all so happy! It lifted Elisa's mood much more.

When Ariella looked up at her wiggling her little eyebrows she knew what she meant and together they gave their presents to Richie who more than excitedly opened both.

"Thank you so much! I love you all so much!!"

Mission success! Richie loved her present as well. Wow. Today was going incredible! She took another snapshot. When Richie went over to get his present for his twin brother, Elisa made her way to the other side of the table so she could capture better shots (instead of getting photographs when she stayed beside them). It was pretty obvious what was wrapped under the large present Richie was carrying. Oh man, Ryder was going to love that! She lifted her camera and continued to take photos as the Duvont kids continued with their atmosphere of bliss and presents.

Once everything was settled and gift wrappers were kept away, she took one last candid shot of the entire Duvont family and then set her camera on the table. She put her elbows on the table and placed her chin on her clasped hands. "So, what's the twinsy birthday bonanza snooze-a-palooza sleep over plan this year?" she asked eagerly.

Oh, she hoped they'd do something as fun as last time despite being locked in due to the snowstorm. Perhaps they would build a fort and watch movies and play video games and take photos and play more games and other things! Oh really just anything, but whatever it was - Elisa knew it didn't matter because she was going to spend it with her best friend and his wonderful family and she couldn't ask for anything better.

M-maria? Is everything al- Tucker's voice sounded on the other end of the line. She felt relief swell within her for just a moment. He answered. She could count on Tucker.

T - Tucker? Are you busy...? she cut him off. Her voice was soft and filled with tension.

He spoke in a much gentler tone, Um, I'm with Freya right now and I have to take my mother home later from the hospital later but I'm totally free in the afternoon! We should definitely ha-

    ...Oh. Nevermind. She hung up.
He was busy. Of course he was. Tucker was a popular guy with lots of stuff going on. He didn't have time right now. This afternoon - this afternoon could work, but it wasn't good enough right now. She wanted someone to be with immediately. It was awfully selfish of her to think that he would be free, or to even expect him to drop whatever he was doing on account of her.
Maria was freezing. She begrudgingly stepped inside of the diner to warm up. A waitress greeted her with a warm smile, then took in the sight of her and her attitude shifted completely. What can I get for ya' doll? She guided her to a table in the corner and looked concerned.
I'll just take a cup of coffee. Her blue eyes roamed over the counter and landed on a cake pan with muffins and pastries inside. Maybe a blueberry muffin as well.
The waitress nodded at her and wound through the tables to the counter. She came back a minute later with a mug, the coffee pot, and a warmed plate with a buttery blueberry muffin. She set down the plate and mug before filling up the ceramic cup with the dark liquid. Maria thanked her and lifted the sunglasses to the top of her head. She caught her reflection in the mirror and grimaced. She looked terrible. Any sign of hunger faded with that view and she picked absently at the muffin and sipped her coffee. Her phone beeped and she reached into her purse to pull it out. There was a text from Tucker displayed at the top and she unlocked it to see what he said.
    From: Tucker
    Hey, are you alright?
    What's wrong? : (

She took a sip of coffee and stared down at the device for a long minute before finally deciding to reply. Her heart felt heavy and her actions were sluggish at best.
    To: Tucker
    Not really. It's not
    important. You have
    fun. Ttyl

Her response was vague and she pressed send. She didn't want to get into it via text message, but all she wanted more than anything at that very moment was someone to wrap their arms around her and pull her in close. She couldn't take that comfort from Stephan. It was his fault and he wouldn't even explain why. Maria pushed the muffin away, losing all appetite. She waved the waitress over and handed her a couple dollars before leaving the diner. She wanted to be anywhere but home.

Maria pushed open the door to the animal shelter and a small bell chimed overhead. She walked slowly through the rows of toys and dog food, coming to a stop by cage with a couple of kittens inside. They were snuggled up together napping in the corner. She smiled at them and was instantly reminded of EAP. Can I help you?
She turned at the sound of the voice to see Sean standing behind the counter. Maria gave him a small wave and strolled over to the cash register. Hi. I don't know if you remember me, but my name is Maria. I came in with Tucker a little over a week ago.
Of course I remember you! It's not too often Tucker brings someone in with him. He smiled at her and held out a hand which she shook. Sean was a big and scruffy looking guy. Tucker had told her that he reminded him of a dog. She could definitely see it. What can I do for ya'?
Maria reached up to move her sunglasses off her face, then instantly froze, letting her hand fall to her side. I was wondering if you needed any help. I told Tucker that I was interested in volunteering and he said to talk to you. I'm sure it's probably rather slow today with the weather the way it is, but ...
I think we can find something for you to do.
Her head shot up. There was something in his face that made her wonder if he could see the marks all over her. She prodded the bump on her forehead -- hidden behind her bangs -- lightly with her fingers. It still very much hurt. Maria gave him an appreciative grin. That would mean a lot.
Sean walked around the counter and pressed one hand on her back, between her shoulder blades, and guided her around the counter. Why don't you come around back. How's EAP doing?

    {~~~Day 9 (3/4)~~~December 29th, 2016, Wednesday~~~Location: Cafe~~~Mood: Fun~~~Music~~~Ooc:~~~}

Evan was just sitting there looking at Tucker, totally planning on getting him a pair of rollerblades for his next birthday...whenever that actually was. Then Freya came over and Evan simply waved to her. She was, indeed, the same person that Little Baker Bro had been talking to yesterday and she seemed like a nervous enough girl. Was she gonna like, do something big here today? Evan stopped thinking on it, knowing that it probably wasn't his business and knowing that he could easily try and eavesdrop on them regardless. However when Tucker finished the call with Maria he seemed visibly upset, or shocked or something like that. Despite Tucker saying everything was fine, it clearly wasn't. Regardless with smile still put on his face, and one of Tucker's signature emergency recovery smiles coming up, Evan received the tap on the arm and waved to Tucker saying "see ya later than Cherry Red."

Evan sat there for a bit wondering what to do for the day, sipping his coffee every now and then. Little Baker Bro was never one to hang out with him so he was out of the question. Though he was wondering how those audition things went. Evan thought he should've tried out, because a band always needs a glass harmonist, but he was sure that he would probably end up not even attending half the practices or jam sessions or whatever they were doing there so it was better that he didn't. Maybe he could hang out with his communistic friend. But he was probably doing something or other. Evan continued sipping his cup until he realized that the last few sips hadn't actually had any coffee in them.

Feeling like he was done with the cup now Evan rolled over to the trash can and tossed the cup out. That's when it occurred to him what his day's activities would be. And it had nothing to do with trash cans. Evan rolled up to the counter, further away from where Tucker and Freya were as to not disturb them (though with rollerblades on it would probably be impossible), and got himself a green tea and a chocolate croissant. With the proper meal with him Evan rolled away to a different table now, though this one was closer to where Freya and Tucker were sitting. With his back turned to them he casually started eating his meal. Evan decided he would eavesdrop on the two, because he had nothing really better to do and people always had the grandest of conversations.

Freya stood stepped in the door to see Tucker sitting across the table from Evan. Just how often did Evan hang out at the café? She didn't think anything of it. As Freya made her way over to the table she could make out that they were talking about Christmas. The moment Tucker noticed her he jumped up to greet her. She always loved the goofy ways he got excited to see people.

Freya! Hey good morning! Did you walk all the way? Hope the weather wasn't too bad!

She opened her mouth to tell him things about how she didn't mind the weather, and how she enjoyed the walk over, but with so many people around to hear her say things all she could get out was
    Hi...

She blushed for a second of embarrassment, and broke eye contact with Tucker, taking a glance at Evan who, in a pair of roller blades in the middle of a café during the cold of winter looked just short of ridiculous.

Freya's heart sank. She was afraid it was her. She knew Tucker and Maria were close friends, and she'd seen the way that she interacted with him. Tucker stopped short, it seemed like she had hung up on him. Freya was a bit happy about this, perhaps there was a problem between them.
So, everything alright on the other end?
Evan asked, inquisitively. Freya continued to avoid eye contact with Tucker.
Uh, y-yeah! Absolutely. Everything's alright. Um. Yeah...
Tucker put on a smile, but Freya could see through it, he was truly concerned about Maria. Thi̛͠s̸ ҉wil̡͢͜ĺ͜ ͟no͜t͢͜ e͏n̨d͘ ͏w̵è̡ll̷,̵͡ ̶h҉͡e̡̕͠ ͜͝is̀ ͝ć̡͘o͡n͡f̵l̨͝͞ìc̢͘͏t̕͢é̢͡d̸͢

Tucker gave him a small jab to the shoulder.
I'll try the blades one day, but you keep rolling! It was really great to see you again. Have a good day!
Tucker stepped over to Freya and put a hand on her shoulder. She tried not to blush at the very touch of his hand.
We should get something to eat. Sorry for not responding to your text earlier, I didn't want to rush you if you knew I was already eating.
He explained as they walked over to the counter to order.
    I-it's fine, I'm sorry I was late...
Tucker didn't seem to mind. They ordered their meals and sat down, Freya, with a modest omelette, and Tucker with an elaborate looking pile of french toast, they began to eat. Freya took note that Evan was only a short distance away at another table. Rather, less that she took note, and more to the effect that he made so much noise as he rolled around the café it would have been impossible for anyone not to be aware of his location. He had his back turned to them, but he was quite obviously attempting not to make very much noise. Was he always this obvious when he eavesdropped?
After a brief moment of enjoying his food, Tucker broke the silence.
So what did you want to talk about?
Tucker smiled, with a bit of syrup still hanging out of the corner of his mouth. Freya blushed at how stupid she felt for thinking that was cute.
I-I wanted to know what you think of me...
    She nervously blurted out.
    What do you mean? Um..what??

Tucker looked a bit frazzled he was nervously tapping his fork on his plate trying to think of what to say..
Uh, Um. I-I don't hate you. I'd never hate you. Um. Um.
She began to sink in her chair, she had hoped he would have been as bold as her. She'd hoped he would have accepted her instantly. Y̧o͡u̷͜ ҉̡w̸̕i̡ll̡͝ ̨͟͏l̴o̷͟͠s̵e͟͢ h̴̀͢į͜m if҉̢ y̷͜ou̶͘ ͘͘͡do̷n͘͜'t͜͟͏ ̴ú́͡s̷̕e̵ ͏͘i̡͘ţ̡

Freya tried to hold back her tears, but it was a bit too much for even her to keep a handle on, as her eyes began to well up. Tucker noticed this and reached out to touch her arm.
Hey, hey. Um. Er. I-I'm not angry. No, d-don't worry. Um. Wow. Uh. You know maybe you're just c-confused or something. Um. A-are you sure you're alright?
Freya wiped her eyes with the wrist of her sleeve for a second and simply whispered.
    Not without you...
Tucker seemed flustered even more still, he stood up and moved over to her side of the table.
Hey, d-don't cry. Shhh, it's alright. We'll hang out more i-if you want?
He seemed to be completely ignoring her confession, was she really not anything special to him? Was his relationship with Maria more than just a close friendship to him? Y͜o͢͝͝u͡ ͢͡c̛a͠nno͏t ̸́͞w͘i̶̧̡n h̢i͢͞s̡͟ ̢͠ḩ̶̴è̷a͘rt̕ b̷y͠҉̷ ͏͜yo͝͠u͘͠͠r͢͏s̶elf̸̶͝

Tucker looked conflicted, he probably didn't want to leave a sobbing mess, but he was always one to do what people asked of him. As he stood up reluctantly to leave he put a hand on her shoulder.
    A-alright..
Tucker slowly took a few steps back and then quickly headed out and got in his car. Instead of immediately taking off she could see he sort of sat there for a moment, looking down. Freya was going to freak out, she had to do something she needed a plan. She looked across the table and almost instantly, her tears stopped and her face became cold and somber. d̷o ̕҉̧it̵͢
Tucker had just finished typing up a message when he looked up to see Freya standing outside his window, as he rolled it down he noticed she was shaking with fear. It took every ounce of willpower she had to reach out and hand Tucker the coffee he had left behind. Her hand was almost violently shaking.
    You...forgot your coffee...
Tucker looked at her for a moment, she was avoiding eye contact at all costs, her face seemed pale. He reached out and took the coffee, thanking her. She quickly turned around and whispered.
    I'm sorry..
Tucker seemed so confused at all of the events, but he knew she wanted him to leave, he put his car in reverse and pulled out, placing the coffee in the cup holder. Freya turned to watch as he drove off, an empty crystal vial gripped tightly in her hand.

Shane made sure to stick behind Seraphina as she lead him through her house. He was making sure that he wouldn't get lost inside her home. When she eventually came to a stop and opened the door in front of them, he was quite surprised.

"This is the Music Room. Normally for my own personal use."

All of this was for personal use? That came as quite the shock to him since there were enough instruments for a entire band to practice here. Seeing the piano made him feel better about brining that music with him. At least it wouldn't be a wasted idea now.

"That's why I was so excited to hear you could play, because I wanted someone to share this room with. Sorry... I've rambled enough. Whatever you're ready."

"Okay." He replied, making his way towards the piano. First thing he did before sitting down was to take out the music that was in his pocket, unfold it, and place it before him. Next he got his fingers in a ready position before starting to play.

I-I wanted to know what you think of me...

He was taking the last bite of french toast when he said that. Wh-what? He swallowed and wiped his mouth the tissue by the side of his plate. Already confused with the whole Maria phone call thing, he couldn't seem to understand what she was trying to say. He let out a small, awkward laugh. "What do you mean? Um.. what??"

Tucker, I like you, I-I might even love you. I'm sorry, I know you probably hate me, but I need you to know that.

His eyes widened as the bomb Freya just dropped so suddenly got to him. He coughed a bit, the sweet syrup making his throat feel all sticky and strange. He couldn't seem to glance at her. She just confessed to him. She did. He was completely aware - but he honestly didn't want to be. His chest tightened again, but it wasn't the same. The dorky smile never tempted to run across his lips and he felt really nervous but without that little sparkle of bliss like when he'd see Maria's name on his cell phone. He began tapping his fork on his plate, trying to think of what to say because the silence was just too awkward for him, "Uh, Um. I-I don't hate you. I'd never hate you! Um. Um…"

He couldn't put it to words, hell, not even in his head! What was he going to say? This wasn't the first time someone had confessed to him but he was much younger before and he could just laugh it off and say sweet things and be friends but for some odd reason he couldn't seem to do that now. He didn't understand it. He didn't understand a lot of things right now! There were suddenly so many things going on inside of him and he felt like he was going to explode. What was he going to do now? What was he going to say? He still couldn't look at her and he quickly looks around the room - trying to find some kind of glimmer of hope. He spots the white haired man a couple tables from them. Evan! Perhaps he coul-

I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make this awkward, I just, I..I didn't want to come out with it all at once, Tucker. But I don't want to be without you anymore..please...don't be angry at me..

His head snaps back at her. Oh god. She looked like she was going to cry. No, this was not how he wanted. People weren't supposed to cry! Not with him around! He swore he'd be everyone's little beacon of light because he could never do that for himself. No. This wasn't good at all! He reached forward and lay a gentle hand on her arm. "Hey, hey. Um. Er, I-I'm not angry. No, d-don't worry. Um. Wow. Uh. You know maybe you're just c-confused or something. Um. A-are you sure you're alright?"

Freya wiped her eyes with the wrist of her sleeve then whispered in her soft, little voice Not without you...

Tucker had probably grimaced at what she said. Oh god, what was he going to do? He suddenly didn't want to be anywhere but in the cafe. He wished he never shooed Evan away. He wished he'd gotten the courage earlier to just take off and find Maria and see if she was actually alright and be with her. He still couldn't get her off his mind and now there was this Freya thing too and wow, his mind was join nuts! He licked both of his lips nervously and stood up, moving to her side. She was crying now. "Hey, d-don't cry. Shhh, it's alright. We'll hang out more i-if you want?"

It probably wasn't anywhere near what was the right thing to say but he went with it anyway.

    I'm sorry Tucker, I...just go.

He felt like he had been stabbed in the heart. That was something he didn't want to hear, despite what he just thought of doing. There was no way he could just leave her like that! But… but she probably didn't want him right now (obviously) and begin there probably made her feel worse. He wish he could apologize but was that even the right thing to say? Oh god, he was really unsure. He then got to his feet. No he should go. Just… go. He placed his hand on her shoulder, giving it a light tap. "A-alright…."

He looked down at her for a moment then proceeded to leaving. His day completely turned around, just like that. He didn't even say goodbye to Evan. He just headed to his car, hopped in and sat down. He inhaled deeply then exhaled, running a hand through his red locks and shaking his head. Wow. He couldn't handle this. He reached for his pocket and pulled out his phone. There was a message! From Maria! He quickly opened it.

    From: Maria
    Not really. It's not
    important. You have
    fun. Ttyl

He couldn't believe it. That made him feel even worse! He pressed his fingers over his eyes and squished his cheeks together. Ahh! What was going on today? Everything was going bad! He really couldn't take it. He didn't respond to Maria. He texted Sean instead.

    To: Sean
Dude, I'm coming over right now. This girl
Freya just confessed to me and Maria, the
girl who got Eap, is acting really weird and
man I just can't handle it. Please tell me
you're there. I need help asdjfhgkldskj

A response came from the scruffy big man just as quick as he sent his message. He was only able to start up his car.

    From: Sean
Alright, yeah, I'm here and guess what so
is your girl Maria. What happened to her?
She looks like she got beat man.

His eyes widened. What? What on earth did he mean? His breathing halted for a moment and he swore his heart did the same. Oh god. To think he wouldn't feel any worse!

    To: Sean
WHAT?! I'm coming over now. Wait for me.

He tossed the phone to the passenger seat next to him and placed his hand on the drive shaft/stick shift and was ready to go! But before he could even back up the car there was a knocking on his window. He turned to see who it was. Freya! He quickly rolled down the window.

    You...forgot your coffee...

Tucker looked at her for a moment, she seemed to be avoiding eye contact but he tried to look at her sad eyes. Her face seemed pale. He reached out and took the coffee from her, "Thanks, Freya." he said and took a sip, raising it up to her with a small smile - a last attempt to make her smile. For a moment she looked at him. Their eyes met for what felt like five minutes but was probably seconds. Tucker was a little confused. Her eyes didn't look so sad, in fact, they looked quite… quite scared.

He nervously licked his upper lip. The taste from the coffee lingered a bit. It tasted much stronger than he remembered it. Freya spun around and he caught the faintest whisper as he began to roll up his window,

    I'm sorry..

He stopped and looked at her, wishing he could see her face to know what she meant with that but he should just leave like she told him to. So he took one last sip of the coffee, trying to also decipher why it seemed a little different but only shrugging it off before placing it into the cup holder and beginning to back up. Freya spun around once more and watched him in the car. He looked at her then, watching her as he backed up the car - still, even from the distance, trying to find out what she meant by looking into those curious eyes of hers. He wished he could do something… something more.

He let out a deep sigh, shaking his head slightly and drove off. He drove to the shelter. As he was driving, there seemed to be some sort of weird feeling in him - much, much weirder and more… physical than these crazy emotions in him. He looked at the cup of Joe's in his cup holder, perhaps it wasn't brewed (haha) properly? God, he felt sick - incredibly nauseous. He began to slow down his driving. He could already see the shelter just a couple feet away. Oh god, was he going to vomit? That wasn't going to be any good… oh goodness, Maria was there. He couldn't do that!

He felt his body being drained but also tensing up an awful too much. This was painful! He shut his eyes tightly, beginning to cough. He glanced up for a moment, in between coughs that grew more and more violent, seeing Maria and Sean stocking up some toys and treats at the front of the store. At that moment, Tucker just couldn't stop coughing and the pain was almost unbearable. It felt like he was about to cough out all of his insides. His vision began to blur, and he could feel the car slowing down to a snail's pace with himself not being able to press down on the acceleration, loose grip of the stick shift and slowly the wheel. The coughing wouldn't stop. He looked back up at the shelter for a moment, his eyes barely open and caught Sean spotting him. Was he alarmed? Did he just drop a box of treats or something? He wasn't so sure… things… things just went a little… black.

It wasn't like rising from sleep when light began to come back to him. There was a little bit of noise that seemed rather distant. He felt light headed and extremely dizzy. He felt like things were moving, even though he was pretty sure the car stopped moving. Did it hit the side of the road? Oh he sure hoped he didn't break anything. He was slumped into the seat of his car, with only the seatbelt keeping him upright. His body felt limp and paralyzed - but it wasn't like he felt like moving anyway. He shut his eyes tightly again, trying to make of what just happened… but god, he just couldn't.

The noise he kept hearing seemed to be getting louder… more clear. A loud slam was on his window. He quickly opened his eyes and turned his head to who was outside. His vision began to clear up, and he could make out the faces of Sean and Maria. Maria. They were both looking extremely worried and alarmed, but inside the car, in his seat he felt strangely calm. He looked up at Maria.

He felt his chest tighten and there was that little sparkle of bliss but… there was also something else. He couldn't find himself to smile. He began to sit himself up properly and unlocked his doors. He unbuckled his seat belt, his mind still remaining a little bit blank. Just a little… because he felt very strange. He felt happy but sad but… but something. He looked outside again, at his two friends. He sat, wearing a confused expression on his face. Two? What? Someone was missing. Someone important! Someone he wished was there to help him with this weird, awful thing that happened to him. Someone suddenly couldn't get off his mind. Where was Freya?

Seraphina listened to him play. She couldn't help but smile. He played so beautifully. Emotion seemed to take over her, it was so nice, but then, it sounded so sad at the same time. After he finished she smiled. "That was beautiful Shane." She said to him, with a small smile. "You're very talented." She told him.
"Shane...?" She asked him. "Umm... do you have a girlfriend?" She asked him, moving her hair out of her face and then sitting a bit closer to him. She had no idea why she said that. It was the first thing that came into her mind.
How stupid not to act without thinking. She felt her face blush and did a mental facepalm. Out of all the questions she had to pick that one. She normally didn't do that, but she didn't know how to make very good small talk to begin with.. "Erg....Um... what I mean is..."
She sighed. "No, that is what I mean, I'm sorry... I'm not very good at making conversation."
Sunshine was coming through the windows of the Music room, dancing on her hair and filling the room with sparkles because of the gold and chandeliers on the ceiling. The curtains blew slightly in the wind, cooling down the blush on her face.

The man simply sat back eating his croissant, drinking his drank. Then something he was only slightly expecting happened. Freya just out right confessed to Tucker. Evan had to repress a laugh from this. Man this was a good conversation to eavesdrop in on. Tucker wasn't holding up so well either. Not at all. The man was clearly troubled beforehand and Freya just dropped a bombshell on him. What was this conversation even. Tucker was fumbling all over the place, clearly his smile on him waning. Evan could tell even only by listening. When everything was all said and done and that awkward mess of a conversation was over and done with, Evan was just smiling. He looked over at Freya and saw exactly what she had done. She poured some sort of pink drink in a vial into the coffee belonging to Tucker and gave it back to him. Only Freya looked absolutely out of it. And Evan knew exactly why.

He did something that he loved about his rollerblades. He took off the wheels and the things that wheels were connected to all at once, turning them into just regular old sneakers. Putting them in his pocket, albeit they didn't fit entirely, he walked over to Freya. She gave him a look that if they could kill, probably would've. Not to mention she seemed frantically searching for a murder weapon of sorts. Regardless, Evan didn't care. With a sinister smirk on his face he whispered to Freya, "man what a bad girl you are."Smile never leaving his face he walked out of the cafe.

Now he considered his options. He knew that there was a good chance Tucker drank that coffee, and if the thing worked like it was supposed to, then he would be swooning over Freya. Or worst case scenario he just died because the caffeine wouldn't work well with a love potion. Though he figured the former was probably more likely. He just loved to think of something like that actually existed. And the drama that was sure to follow would be exciting too. Though his thoughts started to flutter to Maria. It was obvious to a good deal of people that she had a thing for Tucker, though Tucker, for some reason, never seemed to be like the dating type. Now she was completely blindsided by Freya's cheat brew, so he wondered if he should help her. Perhaps. For now he just sort of roamed the streets.

Maria had relatively enjoyed Sean's company. He didn't ask questions and for that she was grateful. Her sunglasses rested on the bridge of her nose, even though it wasn't that bright inside the shelter. She had helped with some of the animals in the back for a bit and then moved to the front with Sean to stock toys and treats. This was nice. She would happily do this on a regular basis. It would be especially nice with Tucker here as well. They could have adorable bonding time while tending to animals and stocking shelves. He just needed some time to work through his issues. She would happily help him take those steps forward to overcome his horrible childhood trauma.

Occasionally she would glance down at her phone. The only thing there was a flood of messages from Stephan, not that she expected to hear from Tucker. He was busy. She didn't really understand what possessed him to go out this morning with some girl still in high school, but she didn't let it bother her. Freya was what, seventeen? Tucker is twenty - three. It's not like there is an actual threat with that age gap, plus, Maria knew he liked her. Even if he hadn't come right out and said it, he still shared his biggest secret with her. Someone didn't do that unless they trusted the other person completely. She just needed to help him work through his uncomfortableness and then maybe he would be able to openly show her some sort of affection.
Sean's phone beeped and Maria glanced over at him to see that he was responding to a text message. His gaze flicked to her momentarily, then back down at the phone. Oh. Was that Tucker? She hoped he wasn't telling him that she was here. He had said something about his mom and the hospital before she hung up. Maria swallowed down a lump in her throat, feeling guilty. The shelter had helped calm her down and talking to him really could wait until later. Plus, she needed to apologize from hanging up on him. Sean slipped his phone back in his pocket before returning to work. There was a crease in his brow that hadn't been there before and she wondered if something happened. Maria bit her lip and went back to hanging cat toys on the hooks.
It couldn't have been more than fifteen minutes -- Sean dropped a box of toys. Maria looked up to see that he was staring out the large from window. She rose to her feet and her blue eyes followed his line of sight. There, on the street, was a car she recognized well. Inside, sat a red haired man that made her heart stop. Something seemed to be wrong with him. Tucker was shaking in his seat and his car was slowing down at an alarming rate.
Maria dropped the toys and bolted out the door before Sean. She slipped on a patch of icy cement and he caught her before she could fall. As soon as she was back on her feet again, Maria pulled out of his grasp and slid to a stop by Tucker's door. Sean stood behind her and they frantically knocked on the window. Maria's sunglasses fell from her face as she panicked. Tucker seemed to be sitting up properly now and stared at them in a daze from the other side of the glass. Maria kept knocking and pointed down at the lock. It appeared to take him another minute to register what she meant, but then the door made the familiar clicking sound of the latch being undone. She yanked the car door open and flung herself into the warmth of the vehicle.
The front right tire was sitting on the curb and she shifted the car into park. Her arms were tossed around him and she patted him up and down to be sure he wasn't injured. Tears glossed her lacquered lashes and she threw her arms around his neck. Maria planted a few frantic kisses on his cheek and pressed her hands to his face. Her icy blue eyes blinked back a couple stray tears and she looked into his chestnut eyes. What happened?

Taking himself a seat, he waited for Estelle to say whatever was on her mind. After all, he was curious about what she had to tell him.

"Well... um.... You know, Nat really likes you... and stuff... but she's just like... really really shy... and she thinks you're the sweetest and most thoughtful guy she knows."

"Uh...thanks." He really wasn't used to being complimented, especially by a girl no less. Still he could help that a faint blush appeared on his face at these news.

    "Umm... Well..." She sighed.
"What I'm trying to say is, Nat really likes you, like... she has a really big crush on you. And I reason I brought you over here is, that I wanted to ask if you are interested in her. She doesn't know, about any of this. So even if you like, don't have any feelings for her, don't ignore her or something like that cause trust me she's waaaay to shy to even think about saying anything to you."

That little information only made him feel more uncomfortable. It was one thing to learn that Natalie had a crush on him, but now he had to saw had he felt about her. "W-well, s-she is n-nice."

Is that really all you think about her?

Not only did his stutter creep it's way back, but so did his inner voice. Great, this was turning out well. "I mean, I do l-like her."

Good job, you admitted how you felt about a girl for the first time.

"Sorry to be so blunt about it, but I really couldn't watch her just stand there and do nothing so I did it for her."

"I see." He replied. Quite the day this was turning into. At least now he knew what Estelle wanted to talk to him about. Now that left only one question, where was Natalie at?

She stood out there for what seems to be hours, watching paramedics and firetrucks arrive on the scene while they took the injured bus passengers onto the ambulances and took them away to the hospital. It was when they tried to pry open the wrecked car that she decided to leave the scene. She already had one day of a horrific accident in her life. She didn't need to see another.
Sasha shivered more from the scene rather than the cold. It just happened so sudden...so effortlessly...so...unforgiving. The sounds of steel smashing against another, the screams of people as they were crushed...the blood...it all churned in her head, stirring up the memories she wanted to bury...something she wanted to get over it. She did so yesterday in that performance...but what of now?
Shuffling along as people ran by her to speculate the scene, she spotted the cafe and decided to make her way in. Maybe a good hot drink and some overhearing some chatter can relieve her horrid memories and past trauma. On her way in, she bumped into a random person (which happened to be Evan), muttering a barely audible "Sorry." Before walking in.
Entering the cafe, she quietly sat on one of the tables and quickly ordered herself some hot mocha, burying her head in her hands. Life...is so cruel...to everyone. What have I done...to see such a scene? What have they done...to deserve such a death? It just reminded her how fragile a human's life was...how easy it is for someone to die. She took a deep breath and scanned the cafe, hoping to listen to something...anything to get her mind out of this horrid state.
She did notice that one guy and one girl from the camp. What were their names? Noire? Noile? Something about a girl named Natalie? Whatever. She calmed her hands down after shaking for so long. On the outside, she looked calm, but inside of herself, it was a raining storm of painful thoughts and memories.

Natalie decided to step out and see what was up after Estelle gave her the come on out signal. She peaked out the door and saw that Alex had finally arrived. Natalie took a deep breath and let it out. She was so nervous! No one had ever made her palms sweat or her legs shake like this before. It was new to her, but she didn't mind it. It almost felt good to actually have emotions. After thinking all that to herself, she went and sat at the table. For some reason, she couldn't look at Alex OR Estelle in the eye.

"Um... H-Hi Alex..." Natalie said to her cup.

Man, she WAS really bad at this. All the make up made her feel really... not herself and the fact she was never this shy around people didn't help either. She was just quiet and appeared emotionless.

"H-How are you today?" she asked her cup/Alex.

Today was gonna be a looooong day. A great one, but a long one.

Estelle smiled. It looked like maybe Alex liked Nat. She felt content with herself. She looked over at Nat who looked a bit unsteady. As she down, he elbowed Alex slightly. "Say something to her..." She whispered to him. "If you like her, this is your chance, to tell her. I'm going to get a Hot chocolate, so when I go, say something." She told him.

"Oh Hey Nat I'm just going to go get a Hot Chocolate ok? I'll be right back." She said getting up from the table.
She looked at Nat, She mouthed to her "Don't leave. Say Something." And then she walked to the counter, and watched them from a far. She waited for her Hot chocolate.

"Come on Nat, you can do this. Come on Alex say something to her. Please." She hoped, as she watched the 2.
Far enough to not look like she was paying attention to the conversation, but close enough to faintly hear them over the busyness of the Cafe. "Don't mess it up guys. You have 1 job, 1 freaking job. You can do this."

Freya watched as Tucker drove off, hoping that what she had just done wasn't the biggest mistake of her life.

Oh, Idunno, maybe see how things go first, ya know? Actually learn what Cupid's Brew does. For all I know that drug could kill the man.

He said with a wry smile on his face.

Does everyone know? First Richie, now you. I've thought about what it could do...I hope to god that this works out. Observe if you want, but if you get in my way, I will remove you from the equation.

She asked, turning to him with a deathly somber look on her face.

    I don't know about everyone...
He pondered for a second. But continued on, the devilish smile returning to his face.

Ah well, it's not like there's anything I could do right now anyway. For now, though, gooodluck!

Oliver had been planning to contact Pierce about the auditions as soon as lunch was done, but she beat him to it. It was surprising to say the least, but he figured that she was anxious to get the process over with and agreed to meet her at her place soon. He finished up what he was doing, got dressed and headed out, making sure to grab his notes before he did so.

Once he arrived, he knocked on her door and waited patiently until she answered the door.

Oh, H - hi. Come in.

    Hey.

He obliged and was lead through the doorway and kitchen area [ where she grabbed some papers ] and into the living room. They settled down on the couch, and he helped her pull the coffee table closer to the couch so they could work on it.

He put his papers down and ran a hand through his hair thoughtfully.

Alright, Pierce! I've narrowed the list down a bit, but what are your thoughts? Anyone particularly stand out to you? I wasn't really going for a particular genre of music but I'm more interested in a vocalist, drummer, pianist/keyboardist, bassist, guitarist ... I guess a sort of pop rock thing but variety is good too.

    He trailed off thoughtfully.

Everything around him suddenly seemed to speed up and amplify. Before he knew it, the girl with the long blonde locks threw herself into the car. She did something to it. Did she park it? He didn't really care because suddenly she was all over his body and that's when he blinked and his vision immediately cleared and he suddenly shot back to being aware and normal.

Maria was running her hands over his body, patting him down to check for injuries and he kind of just squirmed in his seat, wanting to get away from all this panicking and physical contact. He instinctively reached for the door handle to his left and opened it but before he could even push himself out of his seat the girl leaned into him. She locked her arms around his neck and kissed him on the cheek... plenty of times. Much more than he could ever handle! He felt his cheeks flush and his body grew very tense. His heart beat quickened and the hands that stayed by his side balled into fists. His eyes looked out to the side of the door, still, wanting to get out.

The sides of his face was suddenly embraced by two palms and ten fingers. Alarmed, his chestnut eyes locked into Maria's icy blue ones which were welled up with tears and filled with concern.

    What happened?

He stuttered for a moment, realizing how close she was to him. His hands hesitantly reached up and took her wrists to release her hands from his face, "Uh, uh, I... I just blacked out... I think? But I'm fine. Don't worry. I'm perfectly fine." Before letting her wrists go, he slowly pushed her back making the distance between them a lot greater. He let go and raised his hands at her - kind of like when someone was trying to teach a dog to stay. He was honestly just afraid she would be all over him again or touch him or kiss him or something that he was really just uncomfortable with - which she should know since she was the only friend that knew about his childhood trauma.

It was Sean who broke the silence, "Hey Tuck, we were just worried but okay. Come on. Let's get you inside and you can tell us what happened."

With a nod, he pulled the keys out of his car, grabbed his phone and he slowly pushed himself up and out of the car. At the corner of his eye, he saw Maria suddenly jump and about to run over to him because when he stood, he wobbled but he quickly told her he was fine and that he could walk. With all the doors shut, he locked the vehicle and then slowly made his way into the shelter before Maria and Sean.

The trio sat by the counter, well Tucker was seated with Sean's order, and the scruffy man began to question him. Maria seemed awfully quiet and distant as this went on.

"Okay, so you're completely sure you weren't sick or lightheaded or anything when you woke up at the hospital? No headaches? Loss of balance? No history of these sort of things in your family?"

"Sean, no, please stop worrying." he knew his friend was just trying to do what's best and see if he was really alright. He gave him a small smile and quick stood from his seat, jumping goofily into the air and tapping his feet together, even jogging in place and doing a little spin before he sat back down again with a big grin, "See! Perfectly fine!"

He noticed a small smile on Sean's face as he shook his head at him, "Okay. Okay. You win. Don't ever do that again but I seriously want to get to the bottom of this. You nearly gave me…" the man turned to Maria, pointing at her and himself together " … us cardiac arrest!"

Tucker couldn't help but chuckle at that and he looked at both Sean and Maria - only one of them found it amusing. He suppressed his little smile and muttered an apology.

"So what did happen? From the beginning. Go."

Tucker cleared his throat, but right before he began to speak the phone in his pocket began to buzz. He reached down and pulled it out. There was a new message from Freya!

    From: Freya
    To: Tucker
I'm sorry about what happened. Are you okay?

Seeing her name light up on his phone made his chest tighten strangely and his lips curled into a dorky smile. He looked up at Maria and Sean unable to hide that silly expression, "Sorry, just one second."

    To: Freya
Hey, don't apologize at all! It's my fault, I'm
sorry for acting like I did. I just didn't really
know what to say… um, I hope you're alright
though! I'm absolutely fine, please don't worry.
We should meet up again and talk soon : )

He pressed send and placed his phone back into his pocket. He looked up at Sean and Maria once more, with a more… calmed smile. They had such curious expressions on their faces. He wondered why? Sean looked like he was plain old confused but Maria looked like… a lot of things. Wow. He didn't notice it earlier, well, probably because Sean was all up in his face with the interrogation.

The smile quickly faded from his lips and he stood up from his seat, motioning towards Maria but keeping a good distance between them. "What happened to you? Oh god, are you alright?"

    WEARING OOC⁞
As soon as the footsteps sounded on the stairs, Elisa removed Ariella from her lap. When the slender blond teen came walking into the kitchen, they practically threw themselves at each other. They were laughing and kissing and Ryder was pretty sure he was going to vomit his pancakes and breakfast skillet. He wasn't a fan of such ridiculous displays of affection. When they finally broke apart, Richie came to a stop beside him, smiling brightly. "Happy birthday big bro!"
He returned it with a less than enthusiastic, "Hey. Happy birthday," and stabbed his pancakes with the fork. That was, until he noticed the large oddly shaped gift in Richie's arms -- no wonder he made so much noise coming down. Ryder narrowed his eyes on the wrapped present and swallowed down the fluffy bread product. Man. He would go and get something like this. Richie knew jack shit about skateboarding. Ryder pressed his lips together and snaked his tongue out to lick the remainder of syrup off.
Richie opened his present from Ariella first, followed by Elisa's gift. It would figure that it was filled with a bunch of cutesy girly things. Tch. "Thank you so much! I love you all so much!!" Richie exclaimed when he was done. He paused, and said with an equal amount of excitement. "Here's your gift from me, Ryder. I hope you like it!"
Ryder took the obvious skateboard and unwrapped it carefully. When the paper lay at his feet, his crystal blue eyes widened at the thing. It was actually good. He bit his lip and narrowed his eyes at the equipment on the board. Ah man. He gave Richie a rare smile and stood the board up on its tail end at his feet. "Thanks. It's great." Man. He clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth. "I ordered your present online and it still hasn't come yet. I think it wound up being back ordered or something. Should be here before the end of the year though." Hopefully that would convince him and not make his twin feel too shitty. He liked tormenting him, but not when Richie goes through the work of doing something really nice to him. He sighed and scooped up the mess of wrapping paper.
Elisa kept enthusiastically snapping pictures of them and he glowered at her from across the table, where she now stood. Ryder rose to his feet and tossed all of the present garbage into the trash. Once everything was settled and gift wrappers were kept away, Elisa took one last candid shot of the entire Duvont family before placing her camera on the table. She put her elbows on the table and placed her chin on her clasped hands. "So, what's the twinsy birthday bonanza snooze-a-palooza sleep over plan this year?" she asked eagerly.
Ryder rolled his eyes. "I wanted to go snowboarding, but it doesn't look like we'll even make it two steps out the front door." The weather was getting increasingly worse as the time went on.

They were all lying on the living room floor. A movie was playing on the large tv in the living room, and Ryder had brought down his own for games so that they could do both. There were snacks and drinks on the coffee table behind them and he stretched his arms above his head, feeling stiff. He jumped to his feet -- putting the game on pause -- and rubbed the muscles in his legs before picking up his now empty cup. "Does anyone want a refill while I'm in the kitchen?" he asked the both of them. Ryder was pretty much forced to be nice to his twin given the fact that they were stuck here together, and since he currently did not have a present for him, this seemed like the best way to make up for it.

When they replied, he grabbed the both of their drinks and stalked is way back into the kitchen. On one of the trips up to his room, he pulled out the vial from under his pillow. Ryder felt a little silly as he dumped the pink contents into Elisa's mostly empty cup. He filled them all up with soda and sat in one of the chairs for a minute. Ryder was aware of Elisa's crush on Noëlle Chambers' older brother Bryan -- he had heard her talk about it enough times with his younger twin. Ryder didn't do well with emotions and feelings. Plus, if he did say something, it could make things weird between them and he was already forced to see her more often than he could count. Things could go south pretty quickly. Usually if they ever got to spend any time as just the two of them, it was interrupted by his brother anyway. He never complained to her about it -- other than yesterday in his car before Hibachi. That was the first. He was always the person she went to last. Ryder didn't want to be her last resort.

He rose to his feet and picked up the cups, keeping Elisa's separate from the other two. If this didn't work, then at least he could have a laugh about spiking her drink. The bottle was dropped into the trash -- buried out of sight. He walked back into the living room and set their respective cups in front of them. Ryder took a sip of his own before settling down on the floor again and unpausing his game. His blue eyes kept flicking to Elisa in his peripheral, but he didn't say anything while he played.

When Oliver arrived, Pierce's heart fluttered in her chest. She took a deep breath to calm herself. She had never had a guy over before! After greeting him at the door and stopping to get her papers off the kitchen counter, she led him into the living room. The television was muted and there seemed to be a winter storm warning on display -- she was back on the news. Oliver helped her pull the coffee table close to the sofa and they used it to work off of. She watched as he ran his fingers through his hair and that flutter from before seemed to intensify.

❝Alright, Pierce! ❞ Oliver told her.

Wow, he had put a lot of thought into this and knew exactly what he wanted. Pierce swallowed nervously. She wasn't sure how much help she could actually be. "U-um, well ..." She picked up her papers and shuffled through them. A couple jumped out of her hands and she bent quickly to pick them up. Her heart rate quickened and Pierce was feeling flustered. "Um," she started poorly when they were all straightened out. "I - I liked Eli - Elisa a lot w - with her vocals and keyboarding." Her gaze shot to the upright piano in the corner of the room, then back to her notes. "A - and, well, um ... That - that Dennis B - Baker was good with the drumming." Her face was red and she shielded herself behind the sheets of paper. She needed to calm down somehow.

Pierce pressed her lips together and out of the corner of her eye, she saw something startling on the news. They had the images of the crash displayed again, and names -- down at the bottom. The papers fell from her hands as her brown eyes grew wide. She clumsily reached for the remote. Her fingers felt numb as she pressed the volume control and the reporter's voice came through the speakers. There was one name that was like a red neon light flashing in her face as she stared at it: SOPHIE BENNETT. Her chest constricted and her breathing was irregular. That had to be a mistake. The remote fell from her fingers, clattering to the floor, and she curled up into the back of the couch, listening.

Natalie felt around her pockets, Natalie touched her Cupid's Brew. "C-Can I really do it?" she thought. The opportunity was actually fairly close. She was in a Cafe with him and there were so many good ways to go about it.

Suddenly, Natalie stood up. "I'm gonna go get us some drinks! I'll be right back!" She rushed to the counter and ordered a coffee for Alex and a hot chocolate for herself. Looking around and making sure no one could see, Natalie pulled out her Cupid's Brew and poured in a few drops. She didn't want him to go totally crazy or die of overdose, but she wanted him to like her. The young girl figured she'd give him a bit to get him to start falling for her, and then she'd seal the deal with the rest of it.

There, that was it. She had poured a few drops in and was ready for him to drink it. With any luck, he wouldn't know something was up with his drink and he would be hers, all hers. She stifled a small and evil giggle at the thought of this. It was funny, she never saw herself using such tomfoolery to make someone fall for her, but with Estelle around and the amount of jokes she had made regarding asking Alex out herself, Natalie figured she would be off better safe than sorry.

Natalie walked back to the table, smiling and setting the cups down in front of them. "I got you a coffee. Hope that's okay." she told him, smiling sweetly and taking a sip of her chocolate.

Ah, yeah. Good. I liked Elisa too, and ...

The papers fell from Pierce's hands as her brown eyes grew wide. He watched her reach for the remote and frown. Was she that nervous? She pressed the volume control and the reporter's voice came through the speakers. He looked towards the screen. They were broadcasting about some kind of a car crash?

The remote fell from her fingers, clattering to the floor as soon as Sophie's name came onto the screen. He leaned back and stared into the screen as they released the details they had on the situation. Pierce was completely absorbed.

... Do you have any way to contact her parents? It could be someone else.

    That ... that car. Look. I - I know that car ...

There was silence between them and they watched. By the end of the story, Oliver was tucking his stuff away. This was clearly a ... terrible time. It wasn't going to work out. Of course. He wasn't sure about Pierce or how she would take the news and if he were honest, he didn't want to deal with it. There was a churning feeling in his stomach. Dread. This would be awful.

... Do you, uh ... I'm ... Sorry? God what the ****. Do you want to be alone ...?
