Lucas felt extremely fidgety and anxious as they waited in the living room, but when Delilah came, overdressed, he might add, he calmed down for some reason, hoping they would get answers. When she offered for them to see their 'friends', BRYAN seemed to jump at the chance, and he couldn't help but think of a child from a horror movie at seeing his smile.

Delilah had called the maid that seemed vaguely familiar to take them, and she nervously began to lead them to their destination. On the way, he had grabbed some of the knives in addition to the one he brought himself, and usually carried around with him all the time anyway. He briefly, almost sorrowfully wondered if SOPHIE had hers. This setup was one of the reasons he always made her carry it.

After pocketing the makeshift weapons, they left the house and were led through a garden maze. Lucas commended the maid for knowing her way around so well, but it also furthered his suspicion; she obviously made this trip a lot. Had SOPHIE been led or dragged down this path? He felt vehement and vindictive at the thought. The garden was quite impressive, rivaled by Arcadia's own, and it made him think fondly of home . . . Which it wouldn't be unless he returned with SOPHIE. As the maid continues to guide them, her familiar humming tune becomes increasingly louder, and Lucas thinks that she must be extremely nervous; a feeling gone not shared.

When they're led into an elevator, his own anxiety shoots through the roof and he removes his glasses once more to clean them, even though they were already spotless. He would take this opportunity to poke at the beast, TORVALD, but there was no time or emotion to spare for that. The rusted lever doesn't make him feel better.

As the elevator begins its descent into the darkness, Lucas speaks up. ❝How long have you been working for the Grant family, Miss . . . ?❞ She had to have a name, yes? And if she was familiar to the lot of them, even a fake name may confirm her identity.

Right, your name.BRYAN asks after, ❝You've got one, right?❞ He sounded on edge, and Lucas had noticed while they were walking that he seemed particularly taken with the young woman, as if he may have known her . . . He recalled his missing sister, NOËLLE; did BRYAN think that there was some correlation between her and the maid? It made him think of SOPHIE, and if — were this maid disguised, and actually was his sister — she might appear different as well. He internally laughed; she didn't like anyone changing her appearance unless it was her.

He thought of the green eyes. ❝Why is it that all residents of Bentley have green eyes?❞ He was suspicious that it might have something to do with the candy. He wished that he could be more thorough in his questions, but with his anxiety, it was difficult enough as it was to think straight.

    . . . Wha'd'you know about the candy?BRYAN followed up.

Lucas felt a little remorseful about interrogating the maid, since she didn't seem to have done anything wrong, but this wasn't the time to beat around the bush.

After Delilah said her piece, she left her maid to guide them to where their friends were. He had an extremely bad feeling about this, but turning back now was not an option. So with a a bit of reluctance, he followed her along with the others. As they passed through the dining room, he spotted some knives that were set out in the open. With the feeling in his gut, he would be stupid not to grab something for protection. So he quickly grabbed one of the knives and tried to hide it in his pocket.
Just some insurance. Can't be without a weapon. I can't be certain that Bryan can protect us all, so I need to be able to defend myself for whatever may happen.

As they continued to walk, Freddie heard the maid begin to hum something. It sounded familiar to him. In fact, it was very familiar. He knew he had heard it before. It was... It was in that musical at the University! Wait... has she been to Fortissimo before? Who the hell...? He continued to eye her as they went on their walk.

They passed through a huge garden area. It looked amazing, as to be expected from someone with a house like this. Still, the view of the garden was stunning. The maid continued to hum, almost making her seem nervous. They eventually got to a hedge maze. She guided them through the maze. It makes sense for her to know how to get through the maze, although her humming became louder as she led them through the maze. That was bizarre.

She clumsily reaches out to slide the authorization card the lady handed to her. After messing up the password input twice, she got it on the third try. She seemed to be extremely relieved after she got it. The gate around this dome they were standing in front of opened and then something popped up to reveal a shabby looking elevator.
I don't trust this thing... Despite his doubt about the safety of the elevator, he stepped onto it.

Since he figured the ride down would take a while, he decided to inquire the girl about the song she is humming,
"So, if you don't mind my asking, I'd like to know how you know that song you're humming." He stood in silence, anticipating any answer she may offer.

This place seemed really weird to Evan. Not only the whole lifeless streets and extremely bland maid opening the door, but just the overall vibe felt weird. They were instructed to take off their shoes and sit down, which all of them did, and they just waited there. There was some candy and beverages but after already being on the assumption that Bentley water by itself may be poisonous and fuck that candy he was not dealing with any of that shit. As he was sitting there he started to wonder how they were going to approach asking Patrick questions, when he found that he wasn't the only one thinking of it. They all just sat there in silence waiting, until the unexpected mistress came down.

She seemed very cheerful...which was weird. Evan was cheerful usually, but this didn't seem like Evan's cheerful, this just seemed like creepy zombie psycho bitch happy. The fact that she was fiddling with candy wasn't helping his image of her at all. However she immediately came in with the whole, knowing the real reason they were all at the house. Evan kind of wasn't expecting her to appear to know everything right off the bat but Bryan seemed to just answer her odd question. Bryan seemed to have a sort of forced happiness in his voice, which totally did not sound inviting to Evan, but being cordial even when you want to stab a bitch (which based on Bryan's angst this entire trip he sort of figured was always the case,) was always important. After waiting a bit they were eventually lead by the kawaii meido-chan maid to go see where their friends might've been.

Along the way they found passed by a kitchen with an assortment of utensils just lying about. Evan was considering picking one up because using them as a weapon was always a good idea, even though he was more of a hand to hand kick boxing sort of fellow. Regardless he picked up his deadly weapon, the spoon, and put it in his pocket. He also grabbed a knife because he realized he needed one for back home. It was only stealing if you got caught and he was sure the fact that it was from the lord of all things unholy in this town,Saint Patrick Grant, he figured it'd all balance out in the grand scheme of things. After pocketing both spoon and knife, (and wondering if he could make some sort of combination weapon called a knoon,) he followed along with the group.

Eventually they got to this hedge maze thing and then they waited around for some sort of password to be entered. After that was done they simply entered into a rickety looking elevator and started descending. He felt like this loading zone would be as good as any to try and think things over. Actually, now that he thought about it, this maid seemed to have done everything very nervously. He actually started to wonder about how it was like working in this place. The Grants seemed like people who would be one of two employer types. Really nice, or satanic overlords."So Ms. Would you mind telling me what it's like working for the Grants?" Evan used his usual cheerful tone.

xxxxxxAs Torvald followed the others through the warzone that was this hellish inferno of an estate, he kept himself on guard and took in as much as possible with his surroundings. Nothing about the pristine white walls called out positively to Torvald, and he just wanted to get the others and leave this fortress of the enemy as quick as possible. As they passed through an ornate dining room that left a bad taste in Torvald's mouth, he subtly noticed that the other three pocketed a few items of silverware from the table. He considered it, eyeing one of the knives, but refrained himself from doing so. There was no way he would touch cutlery stained with the blood of the back of the working class people. He glanced up at the maid. And regardless, stealing would possibly be a bad thing. He had enough training with his fists and some sharp surgeon's scissors in his first aid kit if he really did need to defend himself.

The garden was an enormous maze, with the hedges tall enough to partly block out the sky's pale light. The maid began humming Michaela's threnody from the Girl in Watercolours. Torvald raised his eyebrows and glanced at the little working-class nymph, but he kept himself from saying anything just yet. Cracked twigs and fallen leaves crackled and crunched beneath his heavy steps, and the garden's sharp smell of turpentine made his head ache. Eventually, they reached the elevator, and Torvald narrowed his eyes.

This was going to be dangerous. He entered with the others, and the maid pulled the rusty lever, sending them dropping into darkness. Suddenly, the other three men exploded into questioning the poor maid, who would probably be pained enough from everything that was going on.

<< Enough, enough, calm yourselves! >> Torvald cried out to the ruckus after it slowly died down. << You are overwhelming our poor worker class maid girl. Give her some space. >>

He sighed and turned to the maid. << I'm highly sorry for this explosive revolution of questions. We're curious people. I have a few myself, if you do not mind answering, when you are finished with the others. >>

<< Why do you feel so anxious, so nervous? Is it simply a natural characteristic of yours? You have nothing to fear. >>Throughout the entire ordeal, he had noticed that the poor maid was fitfully clumsy and pale.
<< How often do people -- Bentley residents, outsiders, or otherwise -- visit this mansion? >>

Zoey couldn't help but to feel nervous as she waited for the return of her brother and friends. Though it was like a half hour since they left, she still felt like it was taking way too long. She tapped her leg nervously with her fingertips and looked down at her hands. They were covered with fingerless gloves with thin bandages over the cuts on her palms. She wanted to hide them just in case something happened. She was wearing her hoodie again, but changed into different jeans since the other ones got blood stained. She clutched the hunter's knife as she stood up and went over to the restroom door. Oliver sure was quiet in there. "Hey, Oliver," she said softly through the door. "Just letting you know it's me, Zoey. I'm here with ya. I had to move rooms because... well, everyone in my room left." She sighed out. "I'll keep an eye out for us." She stepped away from the door and then cautiously went over to the window with her knife tight in her hands. The curtains were over the windows, making the room somewhat dark. Taking a deep breath, she peeked through a curtain and then gasped.
    "Oh... crap."
"Get out of our town you dirty scum!"

    "Hellfire to that ***** Cane!"

There seemed like to be a crowd outside, yelling all sorts of things. A mob. She could swear she could also see flames, and even smell smoke. Zoey shrieked when something was hurled at their window and dove out of the way, just in time to avoid a brick crashing through the glass. Her heart was rapidly beating in her chest as she stood up, hurrying over to her bed to grab her backpack, and then pounded on the door. "OLIVER! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE, NOW! THEY'RE BURNING THE PLACE DOWN!" Then suddenly thinking of where he was at, she added, "TURN ON THE SHOWER! QUICK! Throw some towels in there. WE NEED THEM TO GET OUT OF THERE. HURRY!"

While waiting for him, she quickly went to the door and unlocked it, then she touched the handle to feel it. Feeling that it was cold, she opened the door and was greeted by a plume of smoke. She coughed and took a step back, falling on her knees. She winced when she hit her good knee and then looked up. She could see the orange light flickering from below, close to the stairwell. Oh crap, they needed to get out, fast.

She crawled back over to the bathroom door, seeing that it hadn't open yet. "Dammit!" Zoey stood up and pounded at it again. "I know what happened last night! I was there too Oliver!" She yelled at him. "WE CAN STILL FIND PIERCE. I think she's alive!..." Then realizing that wasn't going to work, she tried to jiggle the doorknob. Locked. Feeling suddenly angry, she took a step back. "Don't make me kick down the door man! I will!" And just to prove her point, she kicked at the door, hard.

The elevator ride is dark and shaky. The ride stops and goes, dropping quickly and then at a more stable pace. The cage around you trembles and shakes, and the girl clings to the lever. Underground smells of earth and water, and something else you can't quite place that's reminiscent of the scent at the inn.

You begin to ask the girl questions.

How long have you been working for the Grant family, Miss . . . ?

N - not long. About four months now ... My name? Um. They call me Amber.

Why is it that all residents of Bentley have green eyes?

I - um. I'm not sure ... The girl is clearly very uncomfortable.

So, if you don't mind my asking, I'd like to know how you know that song you're humming.

Oh, I don't know what the song is, I just ... I've heard it before. There was this girl here for a while and she sang it a lot ...

So Ms. Would you mind telling me what it's like working for the Grants?

    It's okay ...

Torvald speaks and the girl breathes out in relief.

Why do you feel so anxious, so nervous? Is it simply a natural characteristic of yours? You have nothing to fear. How often do people -- Bentley residents, outsiders, or otherwise -- visit this mansion?

I don't like it down here ... How often? Well ... Bentley residents come by often for parties. Outsiders ... Well, they come for different reasons ... It's not often we need to take someone down here, though.

The girl quiets and the elevator jumps to a stop. The gate opens and the maid steps out onto dirt, still trembling. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out another piece of candy, nervously shoving it into her mouth as if it's a pill, before taking a step into the inky blackness.

From out of her apron she pulls a flashlight. The friends you're looking for ... what do they look like?

    Competent descriptions given.

The maid nibbles on her bottom lip, trying to process it all. Then, without a word, she moves forward into the darkness.

Underground is basically a cave at first, dark and musty. Then, as they continue walking, it branches off into three directions. She takes the middle tunnel and presses on, shining the light to lead the way. They stumble upon a completely misplaced stairwell, pure porcelain, that leads further down. Above the railing are candles. The maid lights them slowly as you go.

As soon as you reach the bottom floor, the girl slides her card again and unlocks a heavy metal door. She holds it open for you all and trails in behind you.

    White lights flicker on.

The area is completely white and seems to be nothing much more but an incredibly long hallway stretching in both directions. The walls of the hallway are covered with large, circular metal doors - like vault doors. All is silent. Outside of each door seems to be a personal file of some sort, complete with a picture and a short description of the person and the events leading up to their capture.

The door shuts behind you and Amber is gone.

There had been talking of leaving, but no one really did anything. Sharing a room with Oliver was weird, because there was a constant heaviness around him, and Quentin didn't know what to say about it. He had heard, vaguely, what happened last night at the lake, but . . . He didn't feel great, knowing that now, not only was Noëlle gone, but Sophie was, too. He felt angry and vengeful, but completely lethargic and sick.

For the few time during and after the group left for Patrick's, Quentin laid out on his bed in the dark, not bothering with Oliver, who didn't bother him in turn. All of his stuff was gathered, and he was in a perpetual state of subconsciousness and preparation to leave . . . And then the yelling started.

At first, he thought he might have been having a nightmare, as his dreams were usually vivid enough to make him feel even more scared of them than real life did, but when he heard Cane's name, and people screeching for her head, he shot up into a sitting position and threw an alarmed look at Oliver. Moments later, Zoey pounded on the door, loudly screaming about how they needed to leave, which was when he began to smell the smoke.

She burst into the room as soon as he got up from his bed and began banging on the bathroom door, where Oliver had locked himself in. She began explaining something about Pierce, and how they could still find her, and he remembered that they were involved together in last night's events. When she kicked the door, Quentin sighed and made his way over, moving her out of the way, and quickly picking the lock; a nifty skill he had picked up when he was younger, from his aunt.

When it was successfully clicked open, Quentin narrowed his eyes at Oliver. "We don't have time," he said, glancing over his shoulder and out the window, where there were hints of orange. He walked into the restroom, grabbed an armful of towels and began to run the shower on them, not worrying about getting his clothes wet. This situation wasn't good, but he had to remain calm . . . His heart thumped in his chest and his hands became shaky at the thought of being burned alive. After completely drenching about five towels that became extremely heavy, he did as Zoey instructed and draped one over her, himself, and then Oliver.

"We're moving, come on." he said, feeling the wetness soak into his head, and then he grabbed his back, "Do you two have everything else? We need to gather the others. We . . ." The mob was here for Cane, right? She had helped them a lot, even if it hadn't seemed like much. "Cane, we should take her with us. We need to escape." He looked to Zoey again, noticing that she was clearly in pain, "You shouldn't have tried to open the door like that." He grabbed her hand and then wrangled her around his shoulder so that he was supporting her.

He wasn't the most strong, but the adrenaline was pumping through him, and the thought of dying, being burned alive drove him even more. "It's time to go!" he loudly shouted at the rest of the group, and then arduously made his over to the stairs with Zoey in tow to see if he could find Cane. There she was, behind her desk, hiding. The flames were everywhere. What to do . . . He didn't want to see her burned alive, but they were running out of time themselves. "Cane!" he shouted, trying to figure out a plan.

Letting go of Zoey, Quentin did the stupid thing and bolted down the stairs into HELLFIRE and quickly tried to make his way around the back of the desk without burning alive. It was freakishly hot.

Dennis was just standing around basically doing nothing of any real significance before all the adults just left for the day to parts unknown rather silently. He was just waiting around for something on this uneventful day to happen that may a little bit of direction to it. And then it happened. He started hearing some yelling all around the inn but nothing he could really distinguish. Then he started to smell something...something burning. Was that smoke? Well ****. He wasn't too sure what to make of it at first but he just sort of paced around thinking of all the certain possibilities that were going on until he went to his room and found there to be an angry ****ing mob outside ready to burn this inn down. Apparently they were saying something about how ****** Cane was as a citizen of Bentley but he wasn't really sure of it. He just set into full panic mode wanting to get as far away from this hell hole as soon as possible. However he actually managed to calm himself down a bit and think...pseudo rationally. He needed to stay cool and get some towels to help fight fire and/or open any flaming door handles.

Dennis immediately rushed into the bathroom and grabbed all the towels, turned on the water to max cold, and jumped in soaking both him and the towels. He yelled profusely at jumping because hot damn it was cold, but he figured it was better than dying. After leaving he started to wander around the inn looking for someone else to figure out what the **** was going on when he noticed a familiar looking Zoey and Quentin in the hallway. He saw Quentin bolt it down the stairs because...it was at that moment he realized that that receptionist was down there and he was probably trying to save her. Well ****. Dennis knew he had two options. One was save his own skin, the other was save someone else. In the end his conscience won over him and he decided to go down with Quentin to try and help save Cane.

Oliver had fallen asleep in the bathroom, but had woken up recently enough to smell the smoke. He blinked his eyes and sighed, resting back against the far wall of the bathroom and stretching out. Something was happening. It smelled like a fire, and there were people shouting from outside of the inn.

... Why exactly should he care, though? He wondered. He looked down at Pierce's bag. There was no reason to care ...

OLIVER! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE, NOW! THEY'RE BURNING THE PLACE DOWN! Oh. At least he could understand her. He really needed some sleep, huh ... ? TURN ON THE SHOWER! QUICK! Throw some towels in there. WE NEED THEM TO GET OUT OF THERE. HURRY!

Why was she being so loud?

Despite his apathy, he could feel his heart drumming in his chest. He pulled his knees into his chest. Smoke was coming up through the vents.

I know what happened last night! I was there too Oliver!

    Fuck you.

WE CAN STILL FIND PIERCE. I think she's alive!..

    ... Liar.

That had to be a lie, right ... ? She was just trying to make him feel better.

There was some fiddling with the door and suddenly Quentin. Of course he'd get up when his life was in danger. Oliver didn't really dislike him or anything, he just didn't ever seem very present. He stared at him.

    We don't have time.

A moment later a wet towel was thrown over him. He shivered. He still didn't want to get up. And then Zoey and Quentin were out of the room.

    ...

    What if she wasn't lying?

If she was, he might actually kill her.

    If Pierce was dead ...

Oliver breathed in and stood up, grabbing his backpack and running out to his bedroom again. The flames were heating the room up, he had to get out, FAST. He looked at the window. Ugh. He lifted the window up and climbed over it, staring down ... The garden was beneath him. He was just about to suck it up and leap, when he saw Dakota beat him to the punch from the window over, landing in bunch of bushes. He gaped at her, watching as she recovered quickly and ran out of sight. That woman ...

Before he could get another shot at it, the foundation beneath him gave out. He clutched the towel to him and flailed about for a bit before the air was knocked out of him. He shut his eyes, feeling the heat shoot up in intensity. The world went quiet ... he felt himself slipping into unconsciousness and then ...

Hey, BOY. Now's not any time to be sleepin'.

His eyes fluttered open and he groaned. He tried to sit up, but there was something weighing him down. A piece of the floor was crushing his left shoulder blade. He groaned. He was bleeding. The voice from before sighed. He turned his head, feeling pain shoot down his spine. It was Cane. He had landed on her ... desk? Her sharp green eyes were looking him over with slight concern.

You won't wake up, you know. She said, in a much lower voice. Oliver winced as he tried to sit up again. Cane helped him and placed a hand on his back.

Suddenly Quentin and Dennis, okay. They were running through the flames to the desk. Probably for Cane.

She looked at them both and for a second he thought she was going to cry. Instead, she yanked both boys behind the desk with them.

    Stupid bunch of kids ...

She was fiddling around with a latch on what seemed to be a trap door. Oliver held his shoulder. He couldn't move his arm, ugh.

Can one of you dumbasses break this lock for me?

Quentin complied, using his lock picking skills to unlock the door. Once it was open, she breathed in a sigh of relief and shuffled the three into the trap door. Oliver used his good arm to try and carefully climb down the revealed ladder and into the darkness. Cane slipped through and closed the door after.

Zoey couldn't help up to this point. She was at the top of the stairs where Quentin had dragged her. She hobbled back to the window to see if she could get out. She wrapped the towel around her head and then looked out. The only way was to jump. She had a backpack on. She could do this. Taking a deep breath, she let herself jump out the window, doing some sort of half roll so that when she landed, she would land on her backpack and roll. She felt herself soaring in the air for a moment, and then hit the ground with her backpack first, and then rolled around. She coughed, staggering up on her knee, careful to not sit on her injured knee. Seeing the mob close by, she quickly staggered up and ran/hobbled as fast as she could, driven by fear. She needed to get out, and fast. She ducked behind the shadows of the building and then moved towards the forest once more.

    DAY 13 4/4DATE MARCH 17THLOCATION INN
    MOOD !!! MUSIC

Another person had jolted down, following him into the fire, and they found Cane curled behind the desk while the mob outside howled obscenities at her. They didn't have time for this! He felt the sting of the heat while he and the other, Dennis, had made it to Cane, who for a moment, look like she might actually cry, and then she mumbled something about 'stupid', and Quentin noticed that there was Oliver, on her desk . . . after having fallen out of the ceiling, and now he was injured, too.

He watched her mess with a lock on what was like a trap door, and he hoped they could get sanctuary in it. He looked to Oliver, checking to see if he was okay. "Can one of you dumbasses break this lock for me?"

    Dumbasses, indeed!

Quentin took the job and had it picked open in a few long seconds that felt like an eternity. When it was done, They were all ushered in by Cane, who had seemed to return the favor of . . . Saving them. Quentin's heart almost jumped out of his chest as tears threatened to spill over. The coolness was a heavy relief as he leaned against whatever to keep up.

"Oh, g - god." he let out breathing hard, and almost choking on a sob. "Thank you." he told Cane sincerely, patting her shoulder. "S - So what now . . . ?"

He wondered if Zoey was okay, and if the others had gotten out.
