apparently sleep was too much to ask for. Who could sleep with so much damn TALKING?! It didn't matter what the discussion. She was sick of not being allowed to sleep. Did anyone consider those around them? She managed to ignore the 'evil temptress' comment from the fantasy freak. Temperance was even able to tolerate cherno's incessant ramblings-- she had grown accustomed to them-, but these new rules? These new rules made her open her eyes, use the trashcan for leverage to stand up, and glare green fiery daggers at the fifteen-year-old.

she moved to a nearby chair, using its back to support herself, never taking her eyes off the kid. Temperance hoped she was coming off intimidating, that was the goal after all. Her lips pursed and she made a face of distaste as she leaned on the back of the chair. The auditorium was good for one thing, plenty of seating. He wanted to be rewarded for giving them even worse news. At that logic, they could all die from saying hello to one another.

"That, is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard." her pale fingers combed through her tangled black locks. "So we are supposed to enjoy," she made air quotes with her fingers around the word enjoy, "our last days alive and follow the rules, but these rules basically state that we are supposed to be miserable? No one is allowed to be happy because at all because the mystery text says no kindness, no love, no mercy? We're supposed to follow the rules and not talk back, but we aren't allowed to accept what happens to us? It's all one great big contradiction!"

temperance snapped her head in the other direction and began to storm down a row of stairs, moving as far away from the others as possible. She was ready to explode. Every last nerve was on edge and if she wanted to remain even the slightest bit of composure, then her blast zone had to contain no casualties. She sat down in a chair at the far corner opposite the others. It was much darker this close to the stage. Were all the generator lights at the back of the room?

Altair focus soon met its way to the 15 year old boy. Out of everything that was said the boy managed to inform them of something of great importance."Good job...here's a cookie" Altair said as he reeled out a cookie from his jacket pocket and tossed it over to Anthony. Before the madness that began in the auditorium, Altair had only recently bought the cookie from a near by vending machine and planned to save the thing for later, but now felt the boy deserved the cookie. The cookie was quite big and it was still sealed in its plastic.

Having sent the chocolaty delight over to the boy Altair sat back against his chair. Sure the sugar probably had the chance of bring forth some side effects, but Altair didn't mind. So far out of what was said Altair didn't break anything. Maybe he broke the rule about the religion thing but that was minor. Love, mercy, forgiveness, hope...was the deity trying to cause chaos? was she trying to see if she could awaken the selfishness of mankind? It brought humor to the silver haired teen. If that was the goal of the witch then it would play quite well with what Altair wished to see. It was amusing, but when he really thought about it there actually was one rule that he most likely broke...

    "No Acceptance"

Altair muttered the rule quietly and crossed his arms with a soft smile.

Madeline had no idea what Churro--Cherno was even talking about at first, and then he mentioned the fine print. She felt a bit of pride well up inside her, and she was about to mention that thief Yuna, but Anthony beat her in speaking. She frowned. He had found the code AND deciphered it? That last part didn't sound right, but it didn't matter, he had figured it out. If she could rewind time and get rid of the boy before Cherno's question, she might have. It was unfair. She had gone through hell and back to write that code down, and this...this kid got it.

Shaking her head free of those...ugly thoughts, she wondered...If there was no way to avoid the rules then did they even matter?

xxxxxxxxxx And so the one who plays all of the video games - sees life as a game - figures it all out. Kallisti sighed. She was tired. She wondered how her father was. She wondered how her home was. Were they both okay?

As for these " fine print " rules . . . They were all better off doing absolutely nothing, if that were the case. The rules limited them on every aspect she could think of. How annoying . . . they couldn't do anything, but there was one part of that list of rules that caught Kallisti's attention . . . " No Analynne . . . " Who was Analynne? Or was it an object? What kind of an object is an analynne?

" What or who is Analynne? " she asked the others quietly, looking down at her folded hands in focus. She was really tired . . .

She was hungry. Her stomach ached terribly. Now that the initial shock of the 'unseen' rules was wearing off, she could only sit there glaring daggers at Altair for giving Anthony of all people a literal cookie. Did he not see that she was starving? ...Probably not, but still, why Anthony? What, because he had figured the code out? He was a kid! He probably got lucky. If Madeline had had enough time, she would have figured it out. The flood and blackout ruined everything. This was supposed to be her accomplishment. Her redemption.

She was trembling with frustration now, but she wasn't just going to hit a kid. Temperance was annoying enough to smack again, but she looked kind of sick. Everyone else was either useless or in too deep of thought to annoy Madeline.

She didn't really see any point in this game anymore, but Crestatia had said that it was possible to win, right? This just took her thoughts back to where they had been to start with.

"Maybe we're all just supposed to kill each other."

When the cookie had been tossed at him Anthony had little time to see what it was until after he caught it. When that happened a wide grin appeared on his face and he'd forgotten about the evil look Temperance had given him. She was going off somewhere and now her had food, so he'll live!

    Or so he thought.

It was not long, about half way into the cookie now, when M suggested for them to start killing each other. This statement made him nearly choke on the food, however he managed to force it down.

"W-what? But..wouldn't she like to do all the killing?" Please, god, let that be true. Against Madeline and Temperance? While already hurting? He'd be done in! Oh... This was a frightening situation to be in.

    [ ◦ ◦ ]
Moving towards her brother, Elizabeth now stood in-between M and Anthony. How did this conversation shifted from solving a code to killing so quickly? Well...on second thought. Considering the lack of sleep, stress levels, and hunger most probably had it was actually easy to believe. Still, it seemed foolish.
In any case she looked to Cherno. The guy seemed like one who would rather talk than fight, and so she left him alone for the time being. Otherwise she would have pushed him away to better protect her baby brother.
That left M... Dangerous type. Respectful qualities but in this situation that made her a threat. Then Temperance... A friend of her once set Anthony up for a horrid prank so the girl was already on Elizabeth's list.
"If anyone's going to die...it would be whoever is foolish enough to dare to try to hurt my brother. Stay away and I really couldn't care less if you all start tearing each other apart."

Aileen was surprised when Anthony had cracked the code so quickly. Maybe all of those video games were good for something after all. Regardless, she was still puzzled as to what some of the rules meant, and why they were rules. No Analynne? Who's Analynne? I don't suppose it's that girl that took dance class with me 6 years ago...Aileen shook her head.

It seemed as if she was not the only one who was curious about this rule, because soon after Quin quietly asked, " What or who is Analynne? " Honestly, Aileen did not have a clue. She shrugged and went on to think about the other rules. There was no point in wasting time on one thing....

Anthony had also mentioned one part that he was not too sure about: 'save yourself or die two.' Was that a spelling error? Something to throw them off? A pun? Would Crestatia kill off two people if they didn't try to save themselves? A whole bunch of questions were running through Aileen's head at a rate almost too fast for her to comprehend. There was always the possibility that Anthony had gotten the last part wrong, but Aileen could not think of anything better.

"Maybe we're all just supposed to kill each other."

"This is crazy. Kill each other?!" Aileen could feel herself beginning to tremble as she spoke, "I-if she just w-wanted to see us...kill each other then she c-could've just stuck us into a room from the beginning, gave us weapons and ordered us to...." She paused. "Why did she give us all of these rules...and o-one hundred d-days...?" Aileen took a step backwards. She probably sounded stupid, but she just said whatever was on her mind.

This is just effing outrageous. She had a headache from all the stress, and was starving. It did not help at all when Anthony had mentioned food while deciphering the code. Her stomach was still causing her pain. While biting her lip, Aileen decided to hold her backpack to her stomach to try to lessen the pain. This was all too much.

Kallisti looked at Madeline, at first thinking the girl was insane - then again, from all that's happened, she didn't expect much less from her - but then wondering if that would be a . . . viable solution. What would the demoness do? She was the one killing them all off - would it be entertaining for her to see? Or would she be upset that one of them took something she had fun doing away from her? She didn't know how mature Crestatia was, but she'd yet to see any slips in her insane / calm demeanor, from what little she had seen of her.

She looked around. If they were to - if she were to - kill one of them, who would she take out . . . ? Not Madeline, though some of the others might choose her life to end . . . Not Cherno, for he was a smart one and would definitely be valuable later . . . Who was the weakest link? The liability? . . . Not to let her personal feelings get in the way - for if she was to kill one of them, it would need to be someone who was worthless to the cause or whatever the hell it was that this was - but who did she dislike the most of this group?

. . . What was she thinking? Kallisti put a hand to her head, why was she thinking about killing one of them? What would that prove? Well . . . " It may prove something, but . . . "

If this was a game, was it that sort of game?

The room was tense; Elizabeth was eyeing Madeline, Aileen had an outburst, surely in panic, and Kallisti sighed again, standing up, " I do not believe that anyone shall be dying tonight. " she said, stretching her muscles, " It is a foolish thing to think of and what we should be focusing on is the deciphered code, and then trying to get out of this place, before we all die of starvation or insanity. " Her voice was calm, but unusually loud and slightly dangerous.

    She was tired . . .

Temperance scoffed from her corner. The vast emptiness made it easy to hear, even when on the other side of the room. Elizabeth, oh Elizabeth, was being defensive of her poor little freak brother. Maybe if he wasn't so strange they wouldn't have messed with him. She needed to get over herself. The kid would be a freak forever if he didn't stand up for himself some time. Temperance rolled her eyes and leaned back in the chair.

She quite frankly liked Madeline's idea. It made things simple. If they were all just meant to suffer, wouldn'tkilling each other just be easier? If it meant she could survive, she could do it. Temperance was probably stronger then all of them anyway.
Aileen's outburst made her laugh quietly. She was so freaked out. Over what? Someone killing her? Like she has anything to worry about. And quintus?! She always had something to say, didn't she? she rolled her eyes. These people were a waste of time. Things would be better if she were on her own. Working together seemed to get them nowhere.

Temperance really wanted to be free of the rest of them. She wanted to be alone, even if she had told cherno otherwise. She had panicked and wasn't thinking properly earlier. Her mind was more clear now and there were no strange emotions going on. Why did she even spend time with him? If it wasn't for this list, they never would have even started talking in the first place. Cherno would have remained as the poetry writing, brooding, loner kid. The only times they would have crossed paths was during class and potentially in the halls.

"Quintus is right. We should get out of here. I am not certain if my mother is even alive right now. So let's try to not die and just form some kind of truce at least until this ends for good." He folded his arms across his chest and bit his tongue at his words, he didn't want to be near over half the people here. He sighed as if he was tired. Maybe he was. "Can we agree? For the moment, peace between us? Multiple heads should be able to get out of multiple situations. " In all honesty, he was just sick of all the argumentive **** they spouted.

"If anyone's going to die...it would be whoever is foolish enough to dare to try to hurt my brother. Stay away and I really couldn't care less if you all start tearing each other apart."

She would be annoying to deal with, M could already tell. Especially with her brother complex.

"I-if she just w-wanted to see us...kill each other then she c-could've just stuck us into a room from the beginning, gave us weapons and ordered us to...."

If Madeline were a deity, that didn't sound like a very fun way to go about it at all. The girl was right, somewhat. It did seem incredibly theatrical to set this whole thing up the way Crestatia had just to want them all dead. That was, unless she was hoping that someone would break the mold and take matters into their own hands.

" It is a foolish thing to think of and what we should be focusing on is the deciphered code, and then trying to get out of this place, before we all die of starvation or insanity. "

She clicked her tongue and gazed downward, closing her eyes and resting her forehead on top of her knees.

"Can we agree? For the moment, peace between us? Multiple heads should be able to get out of multiple situations."

"Not when more than half of those heads are empty." Her voice was a bit muffled with her position, but she was sure they could hear her. She brought her face up and ran her fingers through her still-damp hair. She was so hungry. "We're assuming all exists are sealed off. All of the group is here...except for Tyson, and we were all just nearly killed in a flash flood."

She knew she was just stating the obvious now, but she needed to think.

    Here;

    > John - Super Christian Douchebag
    > Brian - Scarfed Douchebag
    > Ai...leen - Ballerina Douchebag?
    > Quin - Quintus.
    > Clumsy Asshole <-- Self explanatory
    > Dragon Girl - and otherwise extremely typical Douchebag
    > Cherno - Rambling, Confusing, Over-The-Top Douchebag
    > Temperbitch - Douchebag x3
    > Anthony - Crazy Pyschotic Douchebag
    > Elizabeth - Brother Complex Douchebag

    Away;

    > Tyson - ????

...That name really wasn't right, was it. Shit, what was wrong with her memory lately? She didn't bother trying to figure out what his real name was. He was annoying, and he was not here that's all that mattered. Actually...He hadn't been around in a while, had he? He was almost always gone, and he wasn't even here trapped in the auditorium with them. That was...suspicious, to say the least.

"Has anyone heard from..." She paused and grimaced as she settled on a nickname. "...Ty?"

Now that she really thought about it, she remembered that he and Quin seemed to be a on good terms at her concert. She honestly didn't want to offend her. She felt like Quin was the only person in that room who wouldn't instantly off her if given the chance. That made her feel angry, and a little bit sad...Mostly angry, though.

"It's a little weird that he's not really here for any of this, right? Do you think...He made a deal? Or figured something out?" Or died? Or is working with Crestatia?

Her voice was low as shame bubbled up in her chest. Ty was a derailment anyway, wasn't he? Even if they figured that out, it wouldn't help them get out...She still felt it was worth mentioning.

What could they possibly do trapped in here together? It really seemed like there was nothing left to do (excluding killing each other and dying) but to talk. Her little thought process had left her realizing just how little she knew about the people in the room, even those she could tolerate.

    ...Talk.

Maybe it was truly that simple.

Maybe all they were supposed to do was talk. Maybe it wasn't about finding a way out, or coming up with some super complicated Churro-style plan. Maybe they were all gathered here to come to just...talk.

Madeline wasn't a touchy feely person. She wasn't an open person. She was rarely an honest person. It would be true torture to have to choose between slowly starving to death and opening up to the people around her in some kumbaya shit. As she gazed around the auditorium, she could suddenly sense the nauseating amount of tension and pride circulating. Yep, pure torture. Tortuous enough to be the plan of a demon.

With the conversation alerting from killing each other to truces and that Tyler kid Anthony began feeling safer. (Or he assumed she meant Tyler, as there was hardly anyone else on the list to fill that spot.) Because of this he moved out of his spot behind Cherno and down the nearest row of chairs. He went maybe five chairs down before taking a seat, squishing around in his wet clothes for a moment after doing so.

It was a rather funny noise, enough so to make him laugh like a small child. However he suddenly stopped when he recalled what they had planned to do last night. Mostly because he wanted something to throw out there that could possibly save his life, and he didn't know who else would have had an idea that would have worked.

"The master of logic said we should group together and try meet ups again. But in smaller groups. This isn't small but if there's nothing else to do then maybe we could try that? And we can figure out what needs to be done here after that's settled. Because it's probably best to try it now before more flooding happens. I really hope no other storms happen... I don't like them."

He paused, thinking back on what M said. He really didn't know that kid. So it was hard to say if he would ditch them like this or not but he liked to hope all other Players in this would be as heroic as he was. They already had enough evil players with Temperance involved. Her and her moody and rude behavior. And maybe even M. Because really. How often was someone with one lettered nicknames were good? Not often. Plus she was scary...

    ...

    ...Squish...squish... Haha. This is great.

The cold gaze of Madeline gave Brian shivers. Her stare cut through his psyche and left him slightly trembling. He figured she didn't like him, but this look... it looked as if she wanted him dead. He gulped as the adjusted a stray piece of hair on his forehead.

The others' ideas sent Brian's head spinning. Anthony, the video game boy, cracked a... code? His mind flashed back to when he first opened the email and figured this "code" was that impossibly small print. He was impressed, yet utterly surprised with the boy. He figured him for a goof, but he actually did something constructive! In fact... he's done much more for this cursed group than he had done...

As if Madeline's previous gaze wasn't enough, she now mentioned about... killing each other? What was wrong with this girl?! Brian looked down to see his hands quivering as a cold chill rippled down his spine. "No, no... you don't think Cr-Crestatia would actually do that, right? It wouldn't be entertaining enough for her, right?" Brian said weakly in disbelief, clutching his stomach. Madeline couldn't possibly be right, not about this...!

    ...Right?

Cherno, at this time, had been silently watching this entire ordeal with a blaze of thoughts rushing through his head. He was-- he was smiling, for once. Granted, it was sly. It was a tricky, cunning smile. But how long had it been since he had smiled like this? It was the type of smile he had whenever he was off gallivanting in refreshing, passionate debates with Johnathan. It was the type of smile that meant he had control of his intellectual faculties again. And damn did he take pride in that. His heart was burning.

"'Maybe we're all just supposed to kill each other," Cherno said, in echo of M's previous statement. He let out a small chuckle.

    And clapped.

    And clapped.

    And clapped a bit more.

    int logic ( ) {

"First," Cherno called out. "I'd like to congratulate our little Anthony on helping us crack a few things. He's a little, passionate genius after any cryptographer's own jive heart, you dig?" He shot off a smile at Anthony. A genuine smile at Anthony, the crazy freak! Cherno still did not like Anthony that much -- but, but eh, he wasn't that bad ... Cherno guessed. In fact, he was kind of sweet.

"It's now been a case closing fly-off reveal handle that we've been duped under these little rules. The mini hidden ones have surfaced their damn fine postures to our ogling eyes and it seems we were working under a contract we didn't exactly know all the terms of. But--" Cherno shrugged, "What choice did we have? This isn't any sale."

    int logic ( ) {

So why did the rules exist? Crestatia wanted entertainment. Right. This was a game to her. And yet-- and yet nobody had died from the rules yet, had they? Cherno looked around with his eyes in an intense, narrowed observational glare. He stopped at a few particular people for a bit more time -- M, Quin, Brian, and Altair. These four would have been dead by now, no?

Unless these rules weren't simply cut-and-dry.

If that was the case ...

    }

Cherno clapped his hands together and closed his eyes.

"The people who have ... who have--" Cherno, for once, stumbled a bit in saying this message. Fuck ... those memories. "Uh, left ... us ... have left under very specific, rule-breaking circumstances, from what we understand. And yet, it appears thus far we have been relatively alright. What is more, it looks to me like these rules are pretty vague."

He paced to the front of the auditorium and deftly hopped onto the stage, his legs dangling a bit and his tattered robe trailing behind him.

"To me this means three things."

Cherno again closed his eyes and smiled in a fox-like manner towards the rest of the group. He held up his hand and extended one finger

"One! The hundred days inevitability limit is because of these. These are passive rules. A bit like a slow poison, if you will."

His feet rapped against the side of the stage and he extended his second finger, keeping the smile all the same.

"Two! These rules work on the principal of reveal. Now we know they're there, we've gotta abide by them.

Finally, he slowly extended his third finger.

"Three. We have these vague rules under something that can be considered a game ..."

Cherno lowered his eyebrows, giving off the impression of a rather devilish grin. His heart was pounding.

"Rules were meant to be broken."

He leaped off the stage and walked slowly towards the direction of Anthony and his sister. "Let me explain. While we've gotta be mad careful about keeping within the rules, if Crestatia really wants entertainment, and if we want a chance to escape our fate, then we musn't confine ourselves to being dictated by these rules alone." He took out his Rubik's cube and tossed it towards Anthony, shouting "Catch, brother".

"If we did that, we wouldn't be human, would we? No love. No mercy, kindness, hope. Doing that is the ... is the path of the loser, who has lost this game, if you will. Why does this game exist? Follow me on this, brothers and sisters: we're all locked in this room together, under these restrictive rules, being tested. It seems to me that the only way to win this game is to be creative. To impress dear Crestatia. To show that shorty what sort of mettle we can find in humans. And that, is one of my current theories for why this game exists."

"I echoed, in my previous statement, Madeline's question about killing each other." Cherno grew a bit more resolute. Would it really come to that? Not right now. "I believe, if what I said is indeed the purpose of the game, then killing each other would be the exact opposite of the entire objective, you dig? There's-- there's no doubt, in my heart, nor my mind, that some people will try and kill others." Cherno shot a glance between M and Temperance. "If we're fighting against a cosmic force, the best way to do this is to work together."

    }

"And that, brothers and sisters, may be the reason why we are here." Cherno shrugged. By this point he had been throwing his logical process out of his mouth like a crazed professor, and he was hoping it worked. "I give you no promises. I may be on the complete opposite track, in which case I give you all permission to kill me for dooming us all, haha. But right now? Right now we are here because Crestatia may want us to see if we can work together to escape. A microcosm of the whole. In the junebug is such stuff stars are made of, as they say. To prove the mettle of human spirit. I just hope Tyrone will-- will be okay, though."

Cherno walked slowly off to the other corner of the auditorium, his back slightly hunched and his hands in the pockets of his tattered robe. He reached one of the plastic benches and swung his long legs on top of the desks.

Tyrone was his name, right? Cherno was terrible with names. He turned to Quin and shrugged again.

He had been congratulated by the master of logic! Heroes can't cry, even tears of joy...right? Otherwise he just may have right there. It was even better than the swooning he had expected upon first revealing the code.

This was great. A really great day. Oh...besides the flooding part.

But no. No he had to remain focused. If he was going to keep the praise he just received he had to stop himself from doing anything stupid. That also meant stopping squishing around in his seat, which was quite the shame.

Vague rules now. Right. That was a bad thing, since it meant they would have to watch themselves even closer. But also good...because no one died from them so far?

But then they were impossible not to break so therefore they must be broken? It was something along those lines. Right...?

This was con-HE THREW THE CUBE AT HIM. ANTHONY NOW HAD THE MASTER OF LOGIC'S POWER CUBE.

He said he wouldn't cry but it felt like he was tearing up a bit now. Brother. Cherno may of called pretty much everyone sister or brother but... Brother...

"Killing would be too easy..." he started, eye glued to the cube. Keeping up with the conversation now was especially hard, and yet he tried. "What's harder...is not doing that...so there's that... And killing each other wouldn't need a hundred... Actually only one day would..." his voice trailed off as he began fiddling with the rubik's cube.

The clapping sounded ridiculous. It made him seem as childish and stupid as the Fantasy Freak Anthony. What was wrong with him? Her green eyes followed him down the stairs and onto the stage from the corner of the room. Cherno seemed so excited. His speech started off with some sort of congratulations to the weirdo and then more clapping. What was with the clapping all of a sudden? She rolled her eyes and watched him take a seat at the edge of the stage.
"...slow poison..." Is that what this was? It kind of felt like it. "Now we know they're there, we gotta abide them." So there were even more rules to follow. Stupid rules at that. "Rules were meant to be broken." Well duh. She was pro at breaking rules. That was easy, but how would they stay alive if they were breaking rules? "...we wouldn't be human, would we?" What did it matter? Would any of them really be human by the end of this? It was already changing her the way it was. Human. Emotions made them human. Good and bad. What good was being kind to anyone at this point? To love? No love. No romance. What did it matter?
It's not like she wanted anyone at this point, or anyone would want her. Temperance chuckled to herself and rolled her eyes once more. What was the point of this? It's not like he was really saying anything new. "...some people will try and kill others." Temperance turned away annoyed when Cherno glance between Madeline and her. Just because they fought one time didn't necessarily mean they wanted to kill each other. They might want to kill someone else...or not at all. She hadn't really decided yet.
She stood and crossed her arms. Cherno finished his big speech finally and moved to the other side of the auditorium. Work together. The rules implied that they needed to be alone to survive. Every last one of them said that. Temperance silently walked to the center of the isle, becoming more visible in the dim light. The room was massive and they were dispersed all throughout the auditorium. Obviously no one wanted to be around one another. Even this room had its own set of cliques forming. In this small group of people, in this vastly large room, they were divided. It was the way Crestatia wanted it. It was the way they were supposed to be.
"So now what? We bond? Become bff's? Get all touchy-feely to see just how far we can push Crestatia before she gets annoyed and decides to kill someone else? Cherno, you weren't in the gas station with me. I already almost died like twice in the last twenty-four hours. I would rather not push my luck for a third time. What did I do? Certainly not break a rule. Did it matter? Probably not. I almost drowned. I almost froze to death." She paused and turned to the rest of them. Her voice went up an octave and there was a strained smile across her face. "Making nice, isn't going to help any of us." She was sick of being stuck here with these damn people. All Temperance wanted to do was go home. Well, not home. She would have to listen to her mother ***** if she went home. His house, maybe., but even the thought of that place disgusted her. There wasn't anywhere for her to go.
Normally she would sneak over to Josh's to escape the nightmare, but that wasn't really an option anymore. Even he didn't know the story. She kept it to herself. They spent two years together, but he didn't really know her at all. Nobody knew her, and that's how Temperance liked it. Talking to these people wasn't going to happen. They could speak among one another, but she wouldn't join in. Maybe save some juicy tidbits for the future, but that would be the extent of it.

Aileen tried to ignore how uncomfortable she was feeling as she listened to what everybody had to say. It was hard though, especially with Cherno's clapping. The sounds of it echoed and pounded in her head, as if it were purposely amplified to bother her. At one point she even winced in pain. Regardless, Aileen did her best to focus on what was important, and that was their current situation. Everyone had some sort of suggestion, but they had yet to come to a final decision about the solution. With Cherno's theory, there was nothing wrong with it at first glance. However, once Aileen began thinking about it, there was something about it that seemed like it wouldn't work. Temperance rejected his idea completely. Her negativity towards it seemed very unpleasant, but Aileen could understand where she was coming from. In the end, there were just some of them that would never get along. They all had different opinions, beliefs and values that conflicted with each others.

At this point, she did not have much to say or suggest, so she decided to continue listening to the others. Meanwhile, she watched as Anthony toyed with the rubics cube that was tossed to him from Cherno. It didn't seem like he knew how to complete one. Aileen sighed, but her stomach began to hurt again. She looked at the floor and bit the inside of her lip. The pain. We need to get out of here, and we need to do it fast...

Cherno looked solemnly at Temperance from across the room during her short reply. They were nearly on opposite sides of the auditorium at this point, and her replied echoed through the chamber.

Whoops! She looked a bit peeved at how he seemed to surreptitiously indicate those two particular people in his murder comment. Kidding, Cherno, kidding. Be careful with the jokes ... especially here. You were always terrible at them. But to Cherno, Temperance did seem a bit annoyed in general. But to be honest, this entire experience was not something that one could consider calming.

He lifted his legs off the table and leaped out of the seat. Hands in pockets, he slowly moved over to Temperance's seats, shortening the distance between them with every second. Temperance had a point. But at the same time, her point also seemed to point out a contradiction in its own root. She was stuck in the gas station and would have died. She was definitely close to dying. Cherno still shuddered at the prospect.

He stood before Temperance, with the chairs acting as a barrier between them, his height allowing him to look down on her very slightly. Green eyes. Green eyes. Cherno blinked, and said gently.

"That is exactly what I mean.

If it wasn't for the connections you had, then there was the potential possibility of your death. Think about it." He turned back to the majority of the congregation for a brief moment. "Look at any one person here. We're ... we're still kids, most of us. What good are we working alone with our limiting strengths and weaknesses especially when the entire world is trying to kill us? What if one of us, or naw, even a bunch of us, were separately on the edge of death, and-- and we couldn't get to each other because we decided to forsake each other and work separately."

    Cherno sighed.

"I never said it would be easy. I never said you'd all have to like each other to survive. Consider that a challenge in its own right. Trying not to attack each other for the-- prospect of mutual survival." Cherno chuckled. "The story of the existence of human civilization. Working together with asses to save everyone, including yourself. How poignant."

"And you know, it's experiences of working together that build up a community and friendship, you dig?"

But Cherno never wanted to rule out possibilities. And Temperance did have a few things going for her. He was definitely curious, and he could never stand not hearing the clear points of the other side in a fiery debate. Cherno stood peering at the ceiling for a few moments, and did not turn towards Temperance's direction.

"Temperance," he began, a bit more quietly. "You're a smart cookie. If you've got any clear-cut train of logic that is opposed to this little altruistic idea, then please, shoot. Out of all things, we've gotta make sure our conclusions are the most logical ones.

Something something that may help us get out of here too, maybe. I'm really terrible at these pacing things."

And so they began to talk, the group just talked and talked and talked. There was nothing they could do at the moment and so it was logical that they spoke, but what what discussed was interesting to say the least "Kill" Altair muttered quietly as a sickening smirk crept across his face, the very same smirk that made its appearance when Thomas' death was announce. Once again he could only cover his face with the palm of his hand in an attempt to cover the smirk.

It was such an interesting concept that Madeline brought up. Could they really go through with it? could they really kill another human. Altair knew nothing about these people and their past. He wondered just which one among them would kill another person...if he were to put it casually he would say "who had the balls to kill another". Narrowing his eyes Altair glanced through the gap between his fingers and stared at Madeline. The cold girl had piked his interest greatly and he was quite amused by her.

Time felt like it was frozen, but once the sound of Cherno's applaud reached his ears he soon snapped out of it. With the smirk having returned to a soft smile, Altair lowered his hand from his face and crossed his arms once more. For now he continued to listen for a while and waited until he felt it was the right time to speak.

Temperance was tense, unbelievably tense. Why did he have to come to her section of the auditorium? It was better before he was so close. She wouldn't break these stupid rules. Not for him. Not for anyone. So why was he making it so hard. Cherno hovered over her. His eyes piercing hers. She wanted to say something, to scream and shout, but the words wouldn't form. The lump in her throat blocked any escapable noise. Her heart pounded in her chest and her body was growing numb. just stop. Stop looking at me. You wouldn't look at me like that if you knew the truth. Stop.

Temperance couldn't take another second of this torture, but fortunately he turned back to the others. Didn't he get it? He was better off without her. Saving her, showing kindness, it might have just marked him, cost him his life. And for what? Saving the mean pregnant cheer leader that nobody likes because she makes their lives miserable? She spaced out for a minute. What did he say?

She took a relieved breath while his back was turned to her. How long had she been holding it in? Since he began to walk over to her? She wasn't sure. Temperance felt a little dizzy from holding her breath for so long. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. She just wanted to leave. Was that so much to ask for?

What was he saying? Shoot. Temperance opened her eyes quickly and stared at the back of cherno's head. His hair was dirty and disheveled, but it still looked attractive none the less. pay attention she tried to focus on his words, not his hair. Something she had to contribute? Temperance swallowed back the lump and whispered behind him. "I don't have anything helpful. Cherno...if saving me means it'll cost you..you just shouldn't have. I meant it before and...and i still do." Her head dropped and she stared down at her hands. If he turned back around, there was no way she could face him. She wouldn't lose because of him and she wasn't going to let him die because of her. No way would that be allowed to be on her conscious.
