Jessie hadn't grabbed anything off the tray because she really was not hungry. She was one of those kids that became so used to skipping breakfast that even though she hadn't eaten in a long time, she couldn't eat even if she tried. She would wait until later.

    xx
She looked over at the bag of clothes and got herself up, grabbed an outfit, and waited to change. She wasn't sure if Marina had shopped for a certain amount of girls or a certain amount of boys, and just tried to grab the most androgynous things there. If a guy had to put on a dress or something she'd change out, but hopefully that wouldn't be the case... hopefully.
    xx
She listened to the girl near her with an accent. She was glad her father worked with people with all sorts of accents and was able to understand it... although she knew at some point she was going to mishear something. She mentioned something about camping and she chuckled at it, "As much as the idea sounds fun... I'm not exactly one to camp in the winter..."
    xx
She motioned that she'd be back in a minute as she ran into the bathroom and got changed. She fixed her hair up as much as she could. She wished she had makeup with her, and if any of the other girls did, she didn't like sharing makeup. She walked out of the bathroom and sat back down where she was and pulled open the guide again, "Anyone want to location to anywhere specific?"

Devyn perked an eyebrow at Kallisti's coughing, but was pleased to see she had something they could cook together. Had she not come up with anything, they would probably been eating some eggs and toast. Something simple. While this...French toast sounded quite elaborate, it would fill them up and last them for a while, and that was good. It had been a while since she had something rich to eat. Today would be a relaxing day, if it went right, she thought.

Quietly, she watched her go on and on about the dish, making a mental note of the ingredients they would need while simultaneously mulling over how reminiscent Kallisti sounded.

    . . . Sh - Shall we get started?

With a nod, she entered the kitchen and switched on the lights overhead. Once she was through taking inventory, she got out the eggs, milk, butter, toast, cinnamon and sugar to start with. Unfortunately, a trip or two to the basement for the deep freezer and some extra ingredients had to be made, as it had been a while she cooked so much. Letting Kallisti know she could start, she left the kitchen and went to fetch those things.

    xxxxxx
About an hour later, their breakfast was done and Devyn was packing everything into a large picnic basket. One that brought back hundreds of memories and made her a bit nauseous. She separated the toast from the butter, jams, syrups and whipped cream, and put the fruit into another, cooled compartment. Then she took two jars of milk, bottles of water and orange juice and put them in a the section next to that. Meticulously she checked over everything, noticing that she had forgotten napkins, plates and utensils.

When everything was as perfect as it was going to get, she picked the basket up and turned towards Kallisti.

Alright...If you think you will get cold, you can take a blanket from my closet when we come to it. Otherwise, do not worry about getting changed. It will just be you and I out here.

They entered the bedroom and Devyn slipped her house shoes over her feet, showing Kallisti where she could get a pair of her own, if she wished, and sliding back the glass door. A cool breeze blew into the room and Devyn breathed it in. Once the smell of the river came through the bag on her head, she was in bliss. Her stomach turned with anticipation, and she stepped out onto the patio. Casually, she scanned her large, tarp covered infinity pool for anything odd and then made her way around it.

Thick, wooden planks pushed into the dirt acted as stairs and descended down one by one. Vivid green plants and trees swayed gently around them as Devyn led Kallisti to the riverbank. It was a bit of a chilly breeze, but the sun was eating away at the clouds and tickled at Devyn's exposed arms and ankles. It felt lovely.

For a moment, she completely forgot about Kallisti. A house of her own, beautiful and just the size she'd always wanted...A loving pet and an endless amount of resources at her disposal...What a wonderful game. Without it...

They reached the river bank and Devyn gazed longingly at one of her canoes, turning towards the dark-haired girl again to speak.

Here or out on the water?

The two of them had worked well together on breakfast and then Devyn set up a picnic basket for them. Kallisti slipped on the house shoes she was offered and followed the other, feeling the cool mountainous air all around her. This area was nice . . . Many of the things were a reminder of her old life, before the game, but they were best not dwelt on.

She wondered of Devyn would ever take the bag off of her head before she killed Kallisti. It would be a nice little going away present, though . . . Kallisti much rather would have lived to tell ( or keep the secret ) of what the Bag Woman looked like. She side.

The area they walked through was beautiful and the clear sky and green flora was comforting. The sun beamed down on Kallisti's visible skin, giving her little goosebumps, but warmed her all the same. It had been a long time . . .

Before she knew it, they had reached the riverbank and she was being asked a question.

"Erm . . ." She looked at the bank, out into the water, and finally to the canoe. A shiver ran down her spine. Devyn seemed to want to use it. Kallisti did not. What did she say? Despite all things, it might be a bad idea to disappoint her . . . Having to take other people's wants into consideration was troublesome . . . And the scenarios in her mind from earlier scared her a little. Drowning was something she did not want. It would be just as bad as burning alive . . .

She visibly bit her lip, and then sighed. "Canoe . . ." she mumbled, trying to be clear. The water really was beautiful, and it wasn't really as if she couldn't swim. When was the last time she swam again? "The canoe sounds nice."

Eventually, they set up shop in the canoe and then were eating breakfast a little ways out from the shore. Kallisti was a bit nervous to be out, but the french toast was . . . delicious. Ahaha. It almost made her cry. She wondered if her grandfather was even around anymore. All these angst-like thoughts of hers were starting to become annoying, but everything around her was some sort of reminder of a reality she could not return to.

Kallisti cleared her throat, deciding to distract herself. "How do you see through the bag?"

Tremendously happy with the choice, she helped her push the canoe into the river and climbed inside with the basket. It was not until they were out, drifting atop the water, that she noticed Kallisti's ... resignation. She seemed stiff and uneasy and Devyn was baffled as to why that would be. The water was beautiful, tranquil, and soothing to her soul. Why would anyone be afraid of such a lovely thing? Then again, there were not many things Devyn was afraid of.

They began to eat and she turned off her mask, chewing and swallowing before flipping it and turning it back on to answer Kallisti's question.

It is made out of a material you can see out of, but not into...Like a tinted glass.

After a moment of silence she utilized by taking another, large bite under her bag, she spoke again.

Why are you frightened...? Can you not swim? The canoe turned in the water, drifting calmly with the current of the river. A few minutes later they were a bit of a ways away from her home. It was a familiar route for her, but she wondered if Kallisti would become further uncomfortable.

Bernie came out of the restroom looking well, and Marina went in looking green. Keeping an ear out for her, Harley heard her chucking her guts up. Was she sick? Stomach acid? Maybe it was eating after not eating properly for a long time. They all should have really started out with crackers and Sprite and water, and then progress from there. He kind of wanted her to tell him what was wrong, but he couldn't play the get-personal game at the moment. He had to think for the better of all of them.

Harley decided that wea - - Oh. He stood from the chair, tossing the core to his fifth apple, and checked around the room. He didn't realize their surplus of weapons. Never mind, they were set.

Bernie suggested camping. Harley laughed. Ironic. Now they were up north like she mentioned when they were in the mountain sanctuary . . . "I'm not too sure about that y - " he started to reply.

"Do you have to talk so loud?" Well, that made one-half of the bitch squad up - though . . . Harley didn't really think of either of them like that too much anymore. They were just tired, like him, so he gave a laugh instead.

Camping really didn't sound so bad, and since they had arms and money . . . It might be better to camp a little down south, though, to sneak back into the States if they needed. "We'll have to talk more about it," he replied.

It seemed like more people were getting up. Septimus came from the balcony, though Harley had been up before him, and didn't see him sneak out there. He was probably confused by their situation, but there wasn't much peace to explain.

"Can someone tell me why would we be dropped off in another country, and then supposedly followed? And . . .what's Crestatia like?"

Harley looked over at the Duncan kid. That was a good question. Why here, why Percival? Couldn't Devyn had left them back to Brookridge? He sighed, and then thought onto Duncan's next question. This was his chance to think in an unbiased manner.

" . . . Crestatia is . . . temperamental? I don't really know how to describe her, but she seems to be about as human as the rest of us despite her position above us on the gameboard. Devyn says that she's not a bad person, that we shouldn't hate her, that we're irrational for it . . . I guess she's kind of right, though it's a little irritating. Every time I've seen her, she's been pretty fussy, but if Devyn wasn't lying, then I guess she's kind-hearted?" Ugh, he didn't even know what he was saying. "That's all I've got."

Jessie came back from changing and sat down back in the other chair while Harley decided to munch on a bag of dried fruit. Man. He loved fruit. "Anyone want to location to anywhere specific?" she asked.

"If you could find us a private doctor's office, that'd be great. We all need check ups."

. . . They didn't have an adult with them. He wished he had his fake ID, still. Well. They could manage. Somehow.

Once they had settled in well enough, Kallisti felt a little better and took the moment to appreciate the water. It was kind of nice.

"It is made out of a material you can see out of, but not into . . . Like a tinted glass."

Interesting . . . She wondered if it was uncomfortable to wear it.

"Why are you frightened . . . ? Can you not swim?"

Kallisti looked up with surprised. That was the first kind of-personal question Devyn asked her. For a moment, she was stunned into silence, and then looked away. "I am able to swim, so I suppose that it is a bit of . . . Well, it is mostly uncomfortable. Drowning isn't a pleasant thought - I . . . guess it doesn't really make much sense, does it?" She fell over her words a little, "Perhaps it is the subtle rocking motion. I could never quite get over watching the movie Titanic." Kallisti laughed at how silly that sounded and then folded her legs to criss-cross.

It felt odd giving longish answers.

She thought of a way to redirect the conversation away from herself, "What is . . . Crestatia like? When she is calm, I mean." Kallisti gave a little laugh again, "Every time I have come to cross with her, she has been angry - but I suppose that is the rest of our fault."

Kallisti was a bit ... funny. Even she did not understand her fear. Devyn found this difficult not to laugh at, playfully of course, and filled her mouth with french toast and strawberries.

What is . . . Crestatia like? When she is calm, I mean. Every time I have come to cross with her, she has been angry - but I suppose that is the rest of our fault.

It was a question that she understood, but she had to think about. There was really so much to say, that she found herself quite absorbed with her thoughts and zoning out a bit. ...Maybe a tad more than ' a bit, as a small dip of the river she would have normally anticipated, startled her. She jumped and her shoulders lifted. The fork she was holding dropped down onto the floor of the canoe and Devyn's head lifted to Kallisti's face as she went to grab it. Embarrassing.

Once she had obtained the fork, she turned slightly in her seat and stared off the side of the canoe and into the water, trying to distract herself from her own heart beat, and accelerated blood flow. Embarrassing indeed.

...She has a lot of feelings. Whenever I am able to speak to her casually, she is describing to me an emotion. She is angry, or she is sad, or she is tired. There are a lot of things that bother her, and that she dwells on. I believe she is a perfectionist, and she has high expectations. She suffers a lot of disappointment, and worries quite a bit about ... everything there is to worry about. Besides that, she is usually calm and focused. She does what needs to be done, even if she does not enjoy it. Crestatia is not all ... terrible. But she is not all good, either. There is a list of things I dislike about her. Sometimes, she is needlessly cruel. Also, when something or someone is rendered useless to her, she does away with it as quickly as possible. Sometimes she is a bit of a know-it-all, and looks down on people. I believe she kind of...expects everyone to be like her, and when they are not, it takes quite a bit for them to prove their worth. Overall though, I do think she is responsible...at times, kind, with a strong maternal instinct to those she cares for or sees great potential in...

Devyn seemed to think a bit on the question asked and Kallisti watched her intently, hoping for a decent answer. The boat dipped in in the river and Kallisti made her second, very indignant yelp, grabbing onto the side of the canoe and feeling her heart drop. When things settled out again, she tried to be subtle about calming down and breathing properly.

The explanation came and she listened intently, finally calm.

Kallisti laughed when it was over. She couldn't help herself. It was . . . laughable! Crestatia . . . Kallisti wanted to meet this version that had been described to her. She was made out to sound . . . like a regular human - which was a great deal of relief in itself. It wasn't as if she had done a psychological and behavioral study on demons or the such.

A flash of memory hit Kallisti and she dropped her empty plate.
    "WAKE UP."

Her eyes shot open and Marcus inched closer so that their noses were nearly touching. He wasted no time getting to the point.

"KALLISTI. I HATE YOU THE MOST. PATHETIC."

His fingertips were forced harder against her skull.

"REMEMBER. NOW. EVERYTHING. REMEMBER IT. I WILL NOT LET YOU PROTECT YOURSELF.DECLARATION: REMEMBER EVERYTHING.YOU WILL DIE. YOU WILL DIE,YOU COWARD, BUT I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO DIE SO EASILY. YOU HAVE UNTIL AFTER NEW YEARS BEFORE I TAKE YOUR LIFE. I WILL NOT LET YOU HIDE ANYMORE. NEVER AGAIN. I WILL BREAK YOU."
When she snapped back to reality, her breath came short, and her head shot up, looking around to see if that was real or not. Devyn was still in front of her. She was still in the boat. Good god, what had that been? Her slightly frantic movements had rocked the boat a little and she shakily reached for a bottle of milk, sipping on it.

"S - Sorry . . ." she mumbled, putting a hand to her head. "That . . . is interesting. She sounds normal. N - Normal . . . It sounds like a fitting personality . . . I am interested in meeting that side of her." Though, after that flash of . . . whatever that had been, she wasn't so sure. She was curious, though.

When she laughed, Devyn stared at her until she was finished. They really had...not gotten anywhere near close with the demoness, had they? She had known it before, but it was more evident now. Crestatia and her were alike, in a lot of ways. Maybe that is why she had survived for so long. Kallisti's laughter faded out and Devyn placed her plate under her seat, relaxing herself and staring up towards the blue sky. A gentle 'thud' alerted her and she turned her face to Kallisti again. Her plate had dropped and she looked rather winded and surprised. Why?

    S - Sorry . . .That . . . is interesting. She sounds normal. N - Normal . . . It sounds like a fitting personality . . . I am interested in meeting that side of her.

Not quite believing her, Devyn nodded slowly and moved to take the canoe paddles into her hands, rowing them with the current. The river carried them underneath a tall, curved, stone bridge, and soon, into a more swampy area. The forest trickled in and fleshed out, soon engulfing their surroundings and blocking out the sun. The sounds of birds fluttering among the treetops and frogs croaking atop lily pads filled the air.

    Pity.You never will.

The water turned a muddy green hue, thickening around them and pooling. A bit after the change, the canoe stopped, and the front bumped into a willow tree.

    The river ends here.

Reaching into the top of her nightgown, Devyn's fingers pulled out her key. When she was done, she dug through the picnic basket for her music box and opened the top. The same number of figurines as before. Tch. Her men were useless, it seemed...She would be taking care of one now, at least. There were still too many running around. This game needed to end before day one-hundred. It had to. She closed the box and opened the second compartment, looking around for a model of one of her smaller guns--no, maybe not a gun. A knife. Devyn needed to be aware; she liked Kallisti, so she would like to remember slitting her throat. Once she found the knife she wanted, she dropped it into one of the canoe models.

The clanking sound made her lift her head and she closed the box, put it away. Afterwards, she took hold of the knife.

I hope you enjoyed last night, and this morning, Kallisti. I ... greatly appreciated your presence. It was wonderful meeting and spending this time with you. We could have been great friends. Maybe on another gameboard, we were--or will be.

Without much of a warning besides that, she crawled her way onto Kallisti's side of the canoe and lifted the blade to her throat, pushing forward so that the blue-eyed girl before her slipped down over the seat and into the crook of the canoe, allowing Devyn to close in between her legs.

It is nothing personal... Her tongue ran over her bottom lip. She wondered if Kallisti would struggle, hoping she would. Oh, this was exciting...! She looked so precious. A shiver ran through her spine. Devyn's fingers trembled and her head spun with anxiety as she prepared to swipe the blade.

Kallisti took a breath, watching the scene go by. That flash earlier was terrible. Was it even real? Maybe it had been from a nightmare. Or . . . something? It seemed the river was turning into a swamp and the canoe bumped into a willow tree.

    "The river ends here."

"Mmhm." Kallisti hummed, not paying much attention.

Come to think of it, she had never been in a swamp before. They were interesting places, and there was a lot of life in them. Vaguely, the thought of her surroundings being fake occurred, since her existence was fake. Everything else was too, right? Sigh.

There was a bit of a clanking sound and it caught her attention, making her wonder what Devyn was doing.

"I hope you enjoyed last night, and this morning, Kallisti. I . . . greatly appreciated your presence. It was wonderful meeting and spending this time with you. We could have been great friends. Maybe on another gameboard, we were--or will be."

The words were registering rather slowly, and then there was the glint of the knife. Oh. She saw. Well . . . She knew there was a reason she didn't like boats. The shore would have been much preferable. "Erm . . . Devyn . . ." she murmured, still a little dazed. She scooted back a little awkwardly as Devyn got closer. Everything seemed to be coming to her so slowly. Then there was the blade on the skin of her throat.

She didn't know what to say. What was there to say? Devyn wasn't killing her over killing - well, she might have actually been, but Kallisti was another person in her way. Devyn planned to kill all of the others, didn't she? Kallisti just happened to be first because of what happened to Chester. It was kind of weird. She almost didn't mind dying, after today and last night.

    "It is nothing personal . . . "

"Ack, Devyn!" Kallisti exclaimed, the world clicking into her mind. Her whole body flinched and she felt backwards, yelping loudly - so many yelps today - and the boat shook again. She tried to sit up, only managing to lean up and hurt her arm, and then she rolled, hurting her side. The boat flipped over and Kallisti's vision was filled with blackness.

A few seconds passed and she surfaced, gasping for clean air. ****. She tossed over the boat! "D - Devyn . . ." she called, swimming through the swamp to climb onto the protruding roots of a large tree. What had happened on the boat? She thought . . . Er. She held a hand her throat, not remembering if she had imagined that or not, "Erm . . . Devyn?" she called out, not wanting to get back into the water. She was pretty much soaked.

Briefly, she wondered if Devyn could swim or not. She didn't think the question had come up . . . "Are you . . . there?"

Temperance flipped over on the bed and buried her face under the pillow. They just would not stop talking. Ugh. Her head was pounding. She could feel the warmth of another body beside her. A flutter of hope ran through her until she remembered just who was sharing the bed with her. She groaned under the security of the pillow. It was supposed to filter the noise and light, but these people were just too damn talkative for the morning. She sat up again and tossed the sheets off of her legs.

She flung one of the pillows she had been using in the direction of the newly formed group and climbed out of bed. "Gods, you people." She was already way too sick of being around them all. She felt like hell and a quick glance in the reflection of a picture told her she looked like hell too. How annoying. Her head hurt terribly and her eyes were heavy and stinging. Her throat felt way too dry for comfort. Green eyes darted to the piles of clothes on the bed and she snatched one, stomping her way to the bathroom. "Hey! Get out." She narrowed her gaze in frustration as the sound of the toilet flushing was heard on the other side of the door once more before hesitantly the door opened up. "Move." The psychic stepped cautiously out of the bathroom and Temperance shoved her aside. She didn't look to see the other girl stumble out in the room or listen to her bitch about being shoved. The door slammed shut behind her and she locked it.

Good. She was finally alone and out of prying eyes. It had been rather amazing that she had no night terrors. Temperance wanted to believe that it was just his presence that rid them from her, but maybe it was just having another person close by in general. The idea of that was depressing. She turned on the sink and filled a cup with water. It was down her throat in seconds. She filled it up two more times before splashing the cold water on her face as well. That helped a little bit, but not much. She just felt so utterly shitty. Her chest tightened, not releasing until she stepped into the warm enveloping embrace of the shower water.

Duncan sat on one of the empty beds and let his mind wander. So the blond guy had met Crestatia and could even describe her, he then wondered what the rest of the little group they'd gathered knew. One thing was for certain, they would need a safe place to stay in the next few days or their butt's were cooked. He turned his head to the sound of voices, when he heard mention of seeking some kind of medical help, "We can try to look for a hospital or clinic that allows us to use the Mature Minor Doctrine. We basically can get treated, if we acknowledge that we are intelligent enough to understand what the docs want to do to us." He didn't really much mind if they listened or not, after all, he was relatively fine, especially after the shower but that girl with the bad eye could get infected or something worse, so she needed to be treated, yesterday. And he was sure he remembered a few others with blood on their persons. Though, bad eye girl could get in with no trouble if they declared it was an emergency and there was no time for parental consent.

He stood up because he couldn't keep still, before approaching the window and peering out of it by subtley trying to move the curtain to the side. He didn't feel safe, and didn't think he would until he was back in Brookridge.

Bernie had to step out of the way of the incoming pillow. Temperance seemed to have freaky good aim for being so grouchy. She nodded as they began to settle on a plan of action. That was good. They needed something to do. If they didn't stay active then something bad would happen. They needed this time to recuperate before disaster struck once more. She shoved her hands in her front pockets, hooking her thumbs through her belt loops, and rocked back and forth on her heels--heel toe, heel toe.

"Zo, vee go tsee a doctor, git zome soopliez, figure out where zu stay, und.... inny-thing else?" Her blue eyes shifted back and forth at the others. They put the camping idea on the back burners. Bernie felt a little hurt by it, but what could she do? Sleeping out in the wilderness during winter wasn't on her top ten favorite things to do, but it was better than just sitting around wondering what to do.

Heels clicked across the floor and Marina returned to the rest of them. She had a yogurt cup in hand and looked rather pale. She wasn't getting sick again was she? The girl had only just recovered from the radiation poisoning. Bernie nodded at her. They had a plan, sort of, and hopefully it could be executed without too many hindrances.

She could have slept for years more, but she knew that was not an option. Not really, at least. They were in a hotel room, and being followed. By who...? She wasn't sure, but the memory was not making this whole waking up thing any easier. Her head was pounding, and the minute the warmth at her side shifted and vanished, her eyes were opening. Instead of making a move to get right away, she listened and took in the information they were giving. Something about a hospital, and finding somewhere to stay. Great...

Madeline spent a few more minutes gathering her thoughts before she finally sat up and stretched her arms out in front of her. The air was warm, but not suffocating. From a window she could see that the sky was overcast--with pockets of blue emerging.

"Good morning," she murmured passively, to no one in particular. Her head--and eye--and hip--and feet hurt. She wasn't even sure she was completely awake right now. Everything was moving a bit ... slow, and her body felt heavier than usual, her vision seemed thicker. Blurry.

Slowly, her eyes locked onto the bag of clothing. She wondered if there would be anything in there that she liked, which somehow brought her to wondering if Kallisti was alive. Shaking her head, she listened out for the bathroom...the shower was running. Also great. Instead of getting up right away, then, she pulled herself back into bed. There was no way she was changing into new clothes before getting washed up; she felt horrible. Bloody, sweaty and terrible.

Marina tossed the yogurt cup in the wastebasket and held onto Harley for support. She was feeling a little woozy after her incident in the bathroom and stilettos made balance difficult. The bed to their right shifted and a strawberry blond head poked out from within the sheets. "Good morning," Madeline said, and then proceeded to crawl back into the depths of the bedding.

    "Morning," Marina replied.

She stood there silently for a moment before finally checking that everyone else was awake. "All right then. I think we have been dilly-dallying for too long. That doctor idea sounds good, along with getting supplies. How about this," she tapped her index finger to her chin briefly, the bangles jingly on her wrist, and cocked her head to the side, "we split into two groups. Those that need medical attention head to the clinic Jessie suggested and the rest of us go out to get food and other supplies. We will draw less attention to ourselves if we are in smaller groups, which is where those handy dandy new cell phones come in. They have all been set with each other phone's number in it. As soon as Madeline is ready to go, we set off." The bathroom clicked and then slid across the carpet making a whooshing sound. Marina did not need to turn around to know that its occupant was now vacating it.

She turned her attention to Madeline, still in bed. Blue eyes rested coolly on the other girl. "So for the clinic I think it would be best if Harley, Madeline, and Bernadette went. The three of you seem to be the worst off, unless anyone else has injuries that need to be attended to?" Marina glanced at Septimus, Jessie, Duncan, and lastly Temperance. The newly fresh girl shook her head no.

    "I don't need anything. I'm fine."

Marina nodded. "Good good. So then the rest of us will go to the nearest grocery store and buy food and then find a department store. Even if we do not go camping, we should still stock up on those sorts of supplies in the event that something happens." Carefully, she stepped away from the others and slipped on her coat. Marina took a seat in a large comfy chair and waved her hand at them. "I am ready whenever the rest of you are. We will meet back here as soon as everything else is done. The three of you--" she pointed to the ones going to the clinic, "--should rest after you visit the doctor. We need everyone in tiptop shape and that means not overexerting yourself."

She had been prepared to end Kallisti's life when suddenly the canoe flipped. Shit! Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest as her world spun upside down and water splashed. The shock passed quickly as priorities came to mind. The first thing she did was throw a hand over her mouth. The mask she wore was waterproof, but she hoped her hand would stop the water from seeping into the filter too much and messing up the sound. This would also keep the bag over her face, hopefully. The second thing she did was grope around the thick swamp for her picnic basket. She would not come back up until she found it. Her heart ached and she wondered if it would be ruined. She might not be able to handle that.

A few breathless moments later, her fingers fastened around the handle and she kicked her way up to the surface through some sludge. The knife had been dropped when she threw her hand over her mouth, but that was alright. It would not be difficult to make another. Still, this was frustrating.

Devyn gasped for air, but the bag clung to her face. Panicking for just a moment, she took a few more heavy gasps before thinking to pull the bag a bit away from her mouth. She sputtered, the taste of mucky river water on her tongue, and shivered. She could not see. The bag was heavy, drenched, clinging and near suffocating her. It needed to be rung out and dried, but she could do not that with Kallisti around. Instead, she felt around for some roots and pulled herself upon ... something, hopefully the base of the willow tree, collecting her whits about her.

    W-well...

Shit! Her voice wavered and the mask's distortion cut in and out.

There were too many options to know exactly what to do, now. Did the bag really matter, right now--? Yes, it did. It did. The chance of Kallisti being revived and knowing what she looked like was high, with everyone who seemed to oppose her being given up. That couldn't happen...

Her mind reeled as thought after thought after thought pummeled her brain, back up plans forming and being tossed out soon after creation. Her fingers trembled. She needed to check on the music box, which should have been alright, but...She could not see, and Kallisti... She needed her vision to turn the canoe over again, as well. Her breaths came out short and frantic and her free hand lifted to feel around her neck for the key. The chain had twisted a bit, but it was still there. Good, but ... Man, this was silly. The frogs and birds sounded louder and a breeze brushed through the swamp. Her pajamas were wet and clinging to her body. She was cold, and uncomfortable and exposed. Of course she had to wear something vanilla colored, last night... She could feel a branch sticking out of the bag on her head and she laughed.

    Aha...

Her shoulders shook and then she leaned back a bit, another giggle leaving her lips. The mask buzzed. Her poor mask...her poor, cherished picnic basket; but her imagination was getting the best of her.

I am sure we look ridiculous, right now...

What to do, what to do...?

She giggled, chortling and nearly falling back into the swamp. Man, what fun! Interesting indeed. ...Shit.

Jessie listened to Marina speak, from what she could analyze, Marina was one of those people that knew how to take charge. At the same time she wouldn't doubt if she was one of those people that acted it's either my way or the ****ing highway.

    xx
Jessie stood up and grabbed one of the phones from the bag, saying a small "Thank you." As she took it. She was still holding the guide in her hand and spoke, "The nearest convenient store is across the street. But there is an Allmart not much further down the street an-."

    xx
Jessie held her face closer to the guide, at that moment she really wished she took her father's offer at getting her reading glasses, not that she was sure they would have made it through everything. She looked up slowly and sighed, "What exactly is a haberdashery?"

Temperance entered the room but Madeline let Marina finish before she made her move to go. Splitting up didn't seem like a good idea. Yes, they would stand out more in a large group, but they would be be less able to defend themselves. No, splitting up felt ... wrong. She didn't have the energy to argue it, though, and got out of bed to go take a shower.

The water felt nice, but barely. Her body warmed and flushed with the heat, but she didn't feel much of it. Once finished washing her body carefully, she washed her hair. It was beginning to grow out again, but she didn't mind. So much for a makeover, or a change in attitude. It didn't matter anymore. Madeline wanted to be dead, mostly, and she felt like she was already there.

Everything was so heavy... She felt depressed.

When she was finished, she got dressed. Her bandages were soggy now. It would be nice, maybe, to have them changed. Avoiding the mirror, she left the bathroom and took a seat back in the main room, ready to go whenever her ... group ... was ready.

"Is it wise to send all the injured to one place? Even if it isn't that far? I think splitting up isn't such a bad idea but...Hm. I think me or the other guy should go with them. No offense." He said to both Harley and Septum, never know when a guy would feel insulted over his opinion. He turned around from the curtain and gazed at his fellow peers and spoke again, "Also, this is bugging the hell out of me. I'm Duncan, it would be easier on me if I had your names too. Oh, we should probably be heading out soon, at least one group. The dark suddenly doesn't seem safe at any point any more." He rubbed his shoulders and tried not to shiver in reply to his vivid memories of the woods they just came from.
