"Harley?" Goddamn, it was nice to hear her voice again. He slowly lowered his gun and his hands to his sides. He took a quick glance over his shoulder, and then at the gun she held; damn, that thing was big. Before he knew it, Marina was on top of him, wrapping her arms around him tightly, like she was trying to see if he was real. He winced at the contact, but she was here, alive. Okay.

"Didn't think I'd actually die that easily, did you?" he asked, resting his arms around her waist as her, "I've been through hell today, what else did you expect? Not all of us can stay beautiful all the time," he told her, kissing her on the forehead.

"There is a fire in the cellar. We need to get out of her. We can talk later. We need to go before it spreads." She grabbed his collar and then they kissed. Damn. It was nice to see her again. The both of them moved back to the main group, and Marina went to help Bernie with the out-Madeline, but Harley grabbed the girl and tossed her over his shoulder again, wincing at the pain it brought, but he looked at the others and shrugged.

Harley thought that the fire had been in another sector of the building, but if Marina said it was close, then they really should move.

"We came in here for a reason," Kallisti said impatiently, "this building is not here for no reason . . . What if the others are here?"

"What if the others are dead?" Harley challenged, and she glared at him, "We'll be wasting time, and that's putting us all in danger,"

"Then you go, and I will stay behind." she complied, playing with the ribbon on her wrist, "Let me have the gun." She held out her hand.

    "Oooh no, you're coming too."

She looked at him firmly, holding out her hand, "Let me have it, Harley. Take Madeline and the others to safety, try to find transportation?" She then looked pointedly at Temperance, "Will you be going with them, or coming with me? I am fine with either way, you have no obligations to me."

Harley clicked his tongue, gave her the gun, and began to walk towards the exit of the building. After coming outside, he turned to Marina, "I can't just leave her in there," he said, "She's my . . ." Ahg. He rubbed the back of his neck. ". . . Closest thing I've got to family." He clutched onto Madeline's side a little harder than necessary. Man, this chick really needed to wake up. After discussion, the two went back into the building to find Kallisti turning down another hall.

"Hey," he called out, and she stopped, turning around. "We're coming with."

After they caught up with her, Kallisti led them farther from the direction Marina came from so that they wouldn't run into the fire. They began to check each room they passed collecting supplies that they could use and slipping them into bags they took.

"I wonder why this building is here," Harley said out loud as they opened the door to another hallway, "Marina, who was in your group?"

    Where was he?

This place was strange and mysterious but he knew he couldn't remain in just one spot. If he was in an unknown place then he knew it would be hazardous to remain just in one spot. Many things lurked among the shadows and though he was arms, this would have been nothing but worthless if he was merely caught off guard. Through his life caution ruled his life and even now it would pay off severely.

He rose to his feet and took a glance around the room that he awoke in. Diamonds attached to strings hung from the ceiling top and he could only gaze up at them and narrow his eyes at the sight of them. It was an odd sight, but something caught his ears, a sound, though very dim he could still hear it regardless. Though he wished to examine the room a bit more, this noise was something that needed to be investigated. Opening the door he walked out and closed the door that was marked with the number one. Silently with the gun in it's holster, he silently crept down a flight of stairs and continued down a hallway.

There were voices and right ahead there was a group before his very eyes. They looked beaten and battered, but this did not stop him at all. Reeling the gun that was safely in it's holster, Septimus Solo made his presence known and pointed the weapon straight at them "Tell me...who are you" Septimus said. For now they were not his enemy, but for him to have appeared so suddenly into this building he knew that he had to be extra cautious of what stood in here.

When the others had joined her, she had to admit that it was nice to have some company in such an imposing place . . . What was more, she hadn't want to have been unarmed - it was simply out of the question.

The small group spent a generous amount of time exploring the building they were in, and there had been no other traces of life or the fire that Marina spoke of. Kallisti felt absolutely sure that there were other people in this building, dead or alive - and the girl named Devyn, too. Kallisti wanted to find the Bag Woman and confront her about Chester, the note, and her real motives - and then she wanted to kill her.

As of late, she found her blood lust to be . . . piling up.

"Tell me . . ." An unfamiliar male voice broke her thoughts and immediately had her raising, cocking, and pointing her gun at the source, "Who are you?" It was a young man with short hair that was a mix of dark blue and purple. He stood with his gun pointed at them.

"I could ask the same of you," she replied with a serious tone, but stood down since she knew it was more logical for him to be wary, "I am Quintus, and these are my - " What could she call them, friends? It wasn't so. Comrades. Yes. " - comrades." She thought it was better not to give out any of their actual names, "Who are you?"

"Septimus...Septimus Solo" Septimus simply said as he held the gun towards the girl and her comrades. Her voice held no fear despite the fact that he held something that could end her life with the mere pull of a trigger. Had he come before death before? was this mere threat nothing that needed to be feared? or maybe she was just simply masking her fear...regardless Septimus chose to lower the gun that he held pointed directly at them. The name Quintus rang all too familiar in his mind. It was an unusual name, but a name he recognized from the email. Surely this email was what brought them together and so Septimus chose to trust them for now. Either way in their state he really would have felt bad for killing such worn out people.

Of course Septimus was not foolish enough to merely place away his gun away and chose to keep his hand on it in case these people chose to do anything towards him. "I can only assume this email has something to do with our...gathering, and I see that you've built yourself quite the group...I will admit ignorance to the situation, but nonetheless I wish to join you all" Septimus said calmly. Joining with these strangers was the best option he had at the moment as he figured they knew far more then he ever did. Glancing over his shoulder he glanced over at the stairway that he had climbed down from "What I can inform you of is that up those stairs and past the door marked with the number one...I awoke in that peculiar room with diamond pendulums hanging from the rooftop...it was an odd room, but since I just randomly awoke in it I believe it deserved more investigation" Septimus merely stated.

She did not want to be in that building another minute longer, but had no doubt that the Bag Woman might be inside. It felt so good to not be alone anymore. Her hands were no longer shaking and she held the gun firmly. Her confidence was slowly being restored, but she still felt sick. It did not make any sense. She walked alongside the others in silence. She had so much to think over. Had Theodore really even been there? She kept thinking that she imagined the whole thing, except for the fact that her legs were no longer broken. He had to have been there. She could feel his lips on her forehead in the same place that Harley had kissed. Crestatia is watching... Is Crestatia ever not watching? Marina kind of figured that the creator of the game would always have her eyes on what was happening. Did she need to sleep? Were there other things watching the game board when she was not looking?

"I wonder why this building is here," Harley said out loud as they opened the door to another hallway, "Marina, who was in your group?"

The sound of his smooth sweet voice snapped her back to the present. She looked up at him with a question mark expression, before nervously glancing at Temperance's back. The girl was holding a machete. Sharing that information sounded, well, deadly. "My uh... my group..." she mumbled, gripping the handle of the gun tighter. "The members in my group were these two young girls name Hazel and Marigold."

"I've heard that name before," Temperance said quietly in the front of the party. "Cherno talked about a girl named Marigold a few times when he was sleeping. I'm guessing he didn't remember her with that whole amnesia thing." She sounded tired.

"Yeah... about that..." she paused, "Cherno was in my group as well." Her eyes locked onto the back of Temperance's head, staring at her slick black hair.

"Why are you using past tense? You said were and was." She did not turn around, but stopped walking. It looked like her shoulders sagged forward.

Marina's heart was pounding in her chest. She was prepared for some dramatic scene right there in the hallway. "That fire--I think they were all trapped in that fire in the cellar. We woke up down there. It was super creepy. I only survived because--" she was not sure if talking about Theodore at that moment was for the best-- "because I managed to climb the stairs in time. The door shut promptly after I ascended." It was not a total lie. Her blue eyes did not leave the back of the girl's head, but saw no sign of her turning around.

". . .oh." she finally said after a few minutes. "Maybe we should check this room." Temperance pointed to a door on their right. She did not seem to be reacting at all. Marina remembered how distraught the other girl was just a couple days ago at the Heckle's manor. What could have changed?

She followed close by Harley as they entered to new room. Where was the bag lady? Would they have to search the entire building only to learn she was not there at all? That would be utterly awful. She was not looking forward to that realization and hoped it desperately was not the truth.

"Septimus . . ." The young man began, "Septimus Solo." What a strange name. He didn't lower his gun and neither did Kallisti. She didn't care much for him pointing the gun at her, as she had face other things that were worse than bullets. Vanille had once told her she died before, at the hands of one Altair Geis. If she could take that, then surely she could take a bullet.

The young man put his gun away after some thought and she lowered hers. "I can only assume this email has something to do with our . . . gathering, and I see that you've built yourself quite the group . . . " She coughed a laugh. Who built what? They were all just . . . survivors, banning together for the greater good of themselves. "I will admit ignorance to the situation, but nonetheless I wish to join you all."

So this boy, this . . . Septimus ( not that she was one to speak for strange names ), was also from the email? Kallisti momentarily wondered if this was all some sort of ploy by Devyn or Crestatia. It wouldn't be the first time, it seemed. She listened to the tale of his origins in the building and then looked at the others with contemplation.

"s'Worth checking out." Harley commented, readjusting Madeline over his shoulders.

"You should really be more careful." she told him, motioning to the girl.

"Worried about me breaking your girlfriend?" he laughed, and she glared, "Don't worry, she probably can't feel a thing." And he patted Madeline's butt, making Kallisti glare.

As if that made her feel any better. With a new resolve, she returned her attention to Septimus and told him to lead them to the room he came from. When they found it, Kallisti found she had a bad feeling that they would be in danger if they all went in. "What should we do?" she asked, "I don't think it would be wise for all of us to go in . . . "

The words that Marina spoke before they had run into Septimus began to sank in. She had never heard of either Marigold or Hazel, but Cherno . . . He had died? She was . . . surprised, to say the least. For a short moment, she recalled the time she spoke to him at the Lacey's Cafe before it had blown up. Kallisti had considered Cherno a prime candidate to win this game . . . It was hard for her to accept his death.

And then there was Temperance. Kallisti carefully looked at the other girl and wondered how she felt, but her facial structure seemed to be mute of emotion. They may not have been friends ( Kallisti could easily say she hated Temperance ), but they had been together this long and they had some semblance of companionship. She made a note to ask her about it later . . .

Bernie remained silent listening to the others. At the current moment, she had nothing to say. When they finally reached the room, she volunteered to go in. Quin declared that she would go as well. Her eyes drifted to temperance, expecting her to announce she was going as well, but it never came. She stood like a statue against the opposite wall. Marina and Harley both said they would remain in the hall with temperance and madeline. Bernie nodded once before entering the room that septimus described. Her eyes roamed the room cautiously. "This is the room?" She asked nervously.

"Yes...This is the place" Septimus spoke calmly as he entered the room along with the other two women. Seeing the others yield and stay in the hallway only justified that this place held a serious risk for them. As he walked further into the room his eyes began to scan the area. His attention before had been mostly brought towards the diamonds hanging up above, but surely there had to be more then that. "These diamonds...they must have a reason" Septimus said silently as he continued to locate whatever needed to add to these diamonds. There was surely a reason these diamonds hung there and it could have lead to something important. "We could try pulling down these diamonds...but I believe that is a far too hasty decision and could reap only bad outcomes" Septimus said.

Marina stayed back in the hall. She felt awful. The gun was clutched tightly near her body. She took a seat on the floor, trying to breath through the discomfort. "You look pathetic." Her head snapped up and looked for the sound of the voice. She narrowed her eyes at Harley.

"What did you say?" She asked him. That was rather rude of him. She turned her attention away as anger piqued slightly inside her. "Just because i am not hauling around a living corpse does not mean i am pathetic." Marina glared at him. She was going to share what she knew, but now she did not even want to look at him.

Harley watched curiously as the group of three went in and left the door opened. He leaned his head against the wall behind him after sitting Madeline down. He was tired, and kind of only wanted to sleep, but they had to stay on their toes. They weren't really getting anything done by sitting around . . .

"What did you say?" Marina asked, and he looked down at her to see that she was glaring at him. He raised an eyebrow as she went on, "Just because I am not hauling around a living corpse does not mean I am pathetic."

. . . Okay, that was not completely uncalled for at all.

"No one said anything," he replied coolly, standing up. What was her deal? Harley looked over at Temperance to see if she had anything to say, but nothing. He sighed. "Well. Watch over the 'living corpse' while I go scout some other places." he said, starting to walk off. "Be careful, yadda, yadda . . ."

As he shoved his hands into the jeans that were dried up, he wondered what was up with Marina. She had just . . . Eh. Best not to think on it. He turned down a hallway and went up another flight of stairs. A weapons room, nice. He wondered what kind of place this was and why it was here, in the middle of nowhere. He looked around for a fresh change of clothing, but only found regular white t-shirt. Shrugging it on, he decided it was better than nothing.

Harley grabbed a belt, two handguns, a shoulder strap, and a shotgun. Perfect. He felt better about having weapons with him. He left the room and swore that he heard it lock behind him, but when he opened it again, he shrugged.

After walking more, it looked like he was walking into a different sector of the building, and this one had a darker atmosphere and a not-so-great smell to it. The building seemed pretty empty, where was everybody? Eventually, he came up to a sort of . . . steel door that had a grate peek hole. He stood straight and tried to look through it, but it was too dark.

Harley jiggled at the knob but found that it was locked. Annoying. in his state, he couldn't kick it open, so he'd have to find lock picks. Thinking back on it, there had been some in that weapons room. He jogged back and filled the back with things he hadn't grabbed before, like ammo. When he was reassured that he had what he needed, he went back to the room and began to pick at the lock.

Duncan shivered as the pair entered the building and vanished into it's depths, prompting him to wait a few moments before stalking after them and finally entering the building and getting out of the cold and northern wind. He rubbed his shoulders and sighed in relief at finally being able to warm himself up, pondering what to do, keep following this road, because all roads lead to civilization or see why there appeared to be more then two femine voices emanating from the halls of this place he'd entered. Another chance to see some kind of occult encounter? Sounds fun, maybe he'd even learn who these people were.

And it was that Duncan followed after the two girls while they met up with more people. Who then met up with more people, why was he so nervous, he couldn't even bring himself to approach them. Oh. Right, they had a gun. And as the moments progressed, they had two guns. Finally, despite that dark, Duncan's eyes finally alighted on a familiar face, self acclaimed psychic, Marina Sario. It actually brought a grin to his face, not that he'd met her before, but because she was a BAE, not even a classmate but close enough, and everyone in Brookridge was politically trying to follow after the Sario's, they were kind of the like the Joneses. Oppurtunity had brought this little group together, and they all appeared very close to his age. Could this be more then some freaky grandscale kidnapping? Hell yes.

Like a doll, a girl was left in the hall, she was pretty cute. Wonder if she'd be a ghost soon, she was looking a little worse for wear. Suddenly a blue eyed boy directed the group to a room with the number one, this was his chance! To not be alone at least, and maybe they had a car! Sure, he didn't see a car outside, but who knows, maybe a ATV or something. And with even more fortune, the group split up, and one of the more intimidating boys left the group, they were getting smaller. He approached the gathering with the knocked out girl and cleared his throat, having enough sense to hold his hands up clearly showing he had nothing in hand to be a threat. "Hello!" That was not supposed to come out so high pitched, he coughed and cleared his throat again. "Hello, I'm not a ghost or anything dangerous, I went to Brookridge's Academy of Excellence and I was kidnapped and brought to the Hospital a little ways from here. Can I join you guys, at least until you get back to town? The Sario girl is here with you, I know that she might be able to vouch for me. Oh! And I have my school ID.."

Seconds lapsed into minutes, they must have been into some live comatose silence because not a one gave him an answer. He didn't know what to do at that, being ignored more then strange to him. He put his hand down and decided to trudge onwards.

"Why are you picking that lock? Do you think that's a good idea, dude?" A boy, older if not his age, was picking a lock with a decent seeming amount of skill. Was he not afraid of traps, after all, if the door in abandoned building was locked, wouldn't that mean they were meant to stay out?

There was nothing of interest in this room and only the diamonds were the only thing that would have caught any form of interest from him. As he stepped in the middle of the room Septimus closed his eyes and let out a small sigh "...This may prove to be a bad decision, but I believe we should pull this and see what the outcome will be" Septimus said. The two girls with him only gave him a nod in agreement and with that Septimus grabbed one of the diamonds that hung from the ceiling and glanced over at the others "prepare yourself" Septimus said as he yanked the diamond down.

Nothing seemed to happen when they pulled the blue diamond, and Kallisti looked cautiously at the other two when a black diamond appeared. Something had to have happened, right?

"Well . . . I'll pull this one," she said, shakily reaching up to tug down on it.

Another dud, but third time was always the charm and at this point it really did not harm them at all. No diamond appeared so Septimus merely grabbed a Black diamond and once again pulled down on it to see if any other outcome would occur.

After enough concentration, Harley jumped when he heard another boy's voice. The door clicked unlock and he turned to the source of the voice, raising an eyebrow. "Won't know until I see what's inside." he replied, twisting the knob and pushing the somewhat heavy door open.

Immediately, a putrid smell hit his nose, and Harley backed away from the room, coughing a few times. "Fucking hell," he started, holding his nose and pulling out a flashlight and clicking it on, "Smells like something died in . . . " He moved the light around a little and found torture contraptions with bodies in them. " . . . here."

    Well, this was ironic.

There were a lot of the devices around, but only three of them were filled. God, this was disgusting. He felt like he was going to throw up, but he decided to get a better look. He moved around the one he recognized as the Brazen Bull and to another on the other side of it. It was a girl. Young, too. He flashed the flashlight over the face, and -

". . . Olivia." he breathed, stepping back and feeling his stomach churn. She was ripped apart. Limb from limb. Blood, everywhere. Ugh. He turned in a different direction, to the right, and firstly saw a . . . hole. In someone's flesh. Their stomach. Harley turned from the sight for a moment, and then decided to take a look at the face. He might know them, after all . . .

. . . It was the Doc. Theo's friend, right? He remembered the tunnels. What was his name? . . . Elliot. Holy shit, what the hell happened to these kiddos? He took a breath, hoping to god Vanille hadn't been in here, in this godforsaken place. He turned to the final dead-person-inhabited machine. That face. It was Theo. Ugh, this was fucking awful.

He looked around the room some more. None of the other devices had people in them, which he was thankful for because he didn't think his stomach could take much more of this. "C'mon, there's nothing here for us." he told the other kid. When he started walking, his hip collided with the side of the Brazen Bull and it tipped over. Something inside it juggled around.

    Something inside it. Great.

Harley looked at the other kid, then bent down to pick at the door. After a few seconds, it opened and the sicking smell of burned flesh reached him. He sat down backwards and took a few heavy breaths. After he stood, he flashed the flashlight inside of the device and saw pretty much nothing but crisped flesh, peeling away. He tried not to think about it.

The body was pretty small and he thought of all the others it could be. That was when he caught a glimpse of tattooed skin. " . . . Fuck." he whispered to himself, turning away from the machine, taking breaths, strides away from it. That pattern of tattoo was familiar. Too familiar. Harley tried to talk himself out of the idea. No, it couldn't be. A kid like her? They wouldn't do that. No one was that cruel.

He rubbed at his eyes in tiredness.

"We're leaving." he told the other boy, and walked out of the room, trying to fill his lungs with as much fresh air as he could. When they were both out of the room, Harley slammed the door with as much force as he could and stocked off in the opposite direction, looking for any sure sign of where to go next.

He couldn't believe this shit. Crestatia. Her shit. Baglady Devyn. Her shit. He wanted her dead. He wanted to find her and wring her neck out.

It was slightly frustrating that these diamonds didn't seem to be doing anything, and Kallisti had been sure that something would happen when they pulled on the black diamond again.

Kallisti walked around the room some more, looking for others to pull on. Something had to be happening with these things . . .

Why were they all different colors? Kallisti was beginning to think that, even though they couldn't see what was going on, these diamonds all did something. They had to. Everything in this game had a reason.

Before she suggested pulling one of the other diamonds, she found a large book sitting on a table against the back wall. With a raised eyebrow, she walked over to the book and opened it to the first few pages, beginning to read them aloud. Maybe the book would tell them what the diamonds did, or give them some hint about where they were?

Duncan almost flinched and covered his nose. Dead people? Gross. The mentality to devise and design such ways to krill? Fascinating! Duncan gazed at the bull shaped contraption but listened to the boy who seemed to be reacting as if he knew the victims. Who would want to kill the people that this boy knew? Was Duncan meant to be killed just like that these guys, but in another setting? This place was too close to the other building to be a coincidence. He

He left with Harley and followed along side him, stopping when they finally arrived in the hall. He wanted to ask if the boy had a name or if he was a ghost. But Duncan didn't want to get socked or shot, so he kept his lips sealed.

Marina looked up at the sound of the voice. He was someone from school. Duncan. She recognized him. He kept babbling and when Temperance made no acknowledgment towards him, Marina remained quiet. She was having a hard time sorting fact from fiction and talking to someone that wasn't really there would only make things worse. After a few minute he left wordlessly. Temperance seemed to be sitting there running her fingertips across the sharp edge of the blade. What was she doing? Her eyes were dark and puffy but free of tears, while her face seemed void of all emotion. Marina had to pull her gaze away to watch Madeline. She could have swore she saw the blond girl stop breathing. Her chest was no longer rising and falling, but almost as quickly as it stopped, it started again. That was odd, but definitely not the most odd thing she had seen lately. She checked the bullets in the gun before standing up. She felt woozy and had to grip the wall to steady herself. "Watch her," she pointed to Madeline, but Temperance made no motion.

Marina moved down the hall looking for a trashcan. She was going to throw up. Maybe she would find Harley on the way as well. She needed to apologize for her outburst, but she could have swore he had said it. Marina shook her head and rounded the corner. There was a trashcan tucked in a little alcove in the wall. She did not want to be here. Her hands latched onto the rim of the can and heaved. She needed to find a bathroom.

Bernie looked around with the others as they searched the room. More and more diamonds continued to appear. Quintus found a book and began to read to them. While she did that, the blond approached the red diamond and plucked at it.
