Game. Game... There. The switch flipped back on.

"Of course it is a game. Life is a game! Dying always meant losing before anyway so there's really nothing new here. In fact, knowing when should be a good thing. Because before it could have been the next day...or in a few years... And guessing sucks." How to win against a mighty deity though? They were always tough to beat, not to mention that it was a game master. One that could possess even an all mighty hero like himself. So there's a challenge.

"Yeah, she hates rule breakers and likes attention too. If only people listened to me warn them..." Bleh. Spouting things wasn't working nor did he really sound like himself. Stupid game master. She was a cheat!

"I would have asked the right things if I could..." he uttered.

No one really noticed her greeting. Was I really that quiet? Oops. Aileen pulled up a chair and sat down at the table with the group. She made sure that there was an empty seat for Brian to sit down. The discussion began with a simple question, one that was supposed to start a productive discussion. But as it continued, Aileen found it becoming more and more disorganized. People were speaking one right after another, sometimes even on top of each other, and she could not find a place to slip in a word, let alone an entire sentence. She sighed.

She looked around the table. Madeline was not saying much and looked quite bothered by the whole situation. She had organized the whole event. Maybe she didn't expect so many people to show up? Maybe she's not a people person? Some of these people are sort of out there...Life is a game? Those thoughts aside, Aileen turned around to order a chocolate milkshake from the waiter behind her.

    "Bull****"

Alatair suddenly said to Chase as he opened his eyes and narrowed them "you think that she would just choose a small group of teens just to make the world a perfect world? Hmph please the time for that is long gone. There is no such thing as a perfect human being and the only place that one could deem a perfect world is if it is the world of the gods" Altair said coldly as he closed his eyes "but even so I doubt even the world of the gods is not without its faults as well...this world, though the world is filled with love, that love hides the disgusting sins and lies of the world" Altair said

Suddenly the teen opened his eyes and looked away "...sorry...I got carried away" Altair said

Now it was chase's turn. Did he even really think? "What about Thomas? What could he have done that made him a bad person? And if this game is supposed to make us better, then what about those that already do nothing wrong? Or that stupid romance rule? We're not supposed to be romantically involved with anyone, but we're supposed to live like we're dying? To go about our daily lives, except we can't like anyone? It's bullshit is that?" Temperance leaned back in the chair and crossed her arms, trying to cool off. She was getting riled up and snapping on everyone.

Obviously he was referring to her. She was a terrible person and no on liked her. Clearly she was the one that was meant to be a better person. all they knew of her was what they saw at school. She wasn't always an awful person, just most of the time. Temperance was still a human being after all, she had insecurities too. She just didn't show them. Madeline now appeared to be saying nothing at all. What was the point of her even calling them there? All it did was cause them to rip at each other's throats and cause chaos. It was a pointless waste of time. Time she could better spend...doing what exactly? There was no point in doing anything anymore.

Brian smiled as he heard Aileen greet the group. Obviously she got his "message". However, his smile turned into a slight frown when he heard no one greet her back. The boy brushed it off and saw Aileen sit and pull up a chair for him. He bowed slightly, then took a seat.

He thoroughly listened to everyone's thoughts and comments, processing them as each person spoke. After Temperance's little... fit, Brian coughed slightly and decided to speak up. "I think this Crestatia person is... twisted, and thinks this is all for fun. I don't think this is supposed to teach us something; she's using us as pawns in her game because she finds it entertaining!" He spoke directly, strongly, and bluntly (which was extremely odd for a person like Brian). He knew he was being a little repetitious, but he wanted to get his point across.

xxxxxxxxxx No longer reveling in the previous day's events, Kallisti woke up feeling refreshed. It wasn't anything like yesterday, where she was still on an emotional high, but she felt a great deal better than yesterday. She had made Tyler worry, and for that, she felt pretty bad, but her whole body wasn't in a state to be fussed with. She was just glad that disgusting sickly feeling was gone, the one that wanted her to be passing out every five minutes.

Although she was disgusted with herself for feeling so weak, and letting what that demon woman said get to her, Kallisti was glad it wasn't in the presence of anyone, to not make them worry. For the rest of that night, she laid in bed, staring at the ceiling, even rejecting her evening tea from her father, who she couldn't tell anything to, even though he always worried about her so much. Kallisti felt bad, but it was better for the both of them that he didn't know; if her father didn't know, he wouldn't worry like a poor-souled maniac, and Kallisti could extend her life for a few days.

She was curious when she read what Madeline posted on Tumblr, but she was conflicted on whether or not she wanted to see them. A handful of them she was wary of, and she wasn't particularly fond of being around more than a few people at a time. And Lacey's, really? Kallisti assumed no one wanted any other cafe signs falling on anyone else. She chuckled to herself at the morbid joke.

So there she was, about six hours after waking up, sitting at a rather large table, drinking tea and sitting quietly. Most all of them had really come. This wasn't anything like her concert. She didn't feel happy to see them, save a few. She contemplated their responses to each other; was this really a game? Or was she playing a sort of double trick on them - psyching them out for her own entertainment? They would have to keep on their toes if they wanted to survive, since fun was what the demon wanted.

. . . She wanted to tell them what she thought, but then she remember that she was just a looming person, not one to socialize much. They were speculating too much, they needed to speak of the rules.

" . . . What of the rules? Who are we to not make deals with - what kinds of deals? No romance, well, " Kallisti chuckled inwardly, " We have all figured out how that went. " she acknowledged darkly, " I believe that the ' telling no one outside of your same situation ' is quite apparent, and then there is that mysterious, small, and very hard-to-decipher text that I feel no one has really put thought to. " she said, stringing out the words with a bit of a bored tone, as to not draw her curiosity out, " I believe we will have another opportunity to ask questions, even though this most recent one was . . . wasted." she continued, drinking into her tea, blaming herself slightly for that precious time, " Should we not focus on what we already know, and then go off on a limb to discover the rest? "

John was late. How late? He didn't know. He was not there after all. Suddenly breaking his perfect attendence took longer then expected, making him leave at 12:00 instead of before it. On top of that he'd never been to the filthy place named Lacey's. Nervously he turned into the parking lot of Madeline's meeting point but muttering 'do not judge' seemed to help a little.

Thinking about the situation also made him forgive Madeline for not saying she found a ride. Not that he worried about the poor unfortunate souls who slept in the church. Thinking about Crestatia also made him remember that he was going into this devilishly dirty place for survival. These thoughts swirled through his brain as his dual colored eyes narrowed and sliced into any that met it. They softened when they alighted on his schoolmates.

Thinking about the files Jesus surrounded himself with helped John calmly place a napkin down on his crisp blue jeans. He didn't take in anyone's face, accept Cherno's. Whatever they discussed must gave left him ill. Bah, there was no time to worry if they weren't concerned.

He had sat down seconds after Kallisti had finished speaking. And could only agree that it was something he'd rather focus on. John leaned back in his chair, folded his arms and then opened his mouth. Speaking to any who'd reply he said, "Recap. Please. A quick one."

Oh boy. It was truly impossible to have a decent discussion with some people, wasn't it? She took a sip of her water again and sighed softly after. A few of them were making some good points, though. She didn't regret coming together like this. Altair made a sudden outburst followed by Temperance.

"Romance isn't everything. I don't see the point of bitching about that, of all things. Seriously, control your hormones. It should be easy to hold back...Thinking about it, though, romance could mean a variety of things. Thomas..."

She paused, knowing the subject was a sensitive one to some of them. She tried to control her heart rate.

"Thomas claimed to like me a while ago, but nothing happened to him until he asked me out on a date. Could just be awkward timing, but maybe we're allowed to have certain feelings...We just need to control them...Or not act on them. ...What I'm saying is, maybe it's possible to have romantic feelings for someone without consequence. You can have a relationship without romance, can't you? Just no dates, sex--well, not passionate sex--or anything dramatic like that."

Madeline shrugged. She was just thinking out loud.

" I believe that the ' telling no one outside of your same situation ' is quite apparent, and then there is that mysterious, small, and very hard-to-decipher text that I feel no one has really put thought to. "

The hidden text. Right, right. She had almost forgotten about that one.

"Does anyone have a smartphone or computer with them? Maybe we can try to figure out what the small print is."

It would potentially be easier to figure out with all of them together. She hoped.

John sat down, asking for a recap, but no one seemed to have anything to say. She had held back a blunt 'No.' by guzzling down some more of her drink as she considered all that had been said so far. She avoided making eye contact with Aileen's milkshake. How long had it been since she had one of those? It looked delicious.

    She shook her head.

"Do not tell anyone, no suicide, no deals, no romance..." She mumbled. "No deals...I wonder...If there's a way to summon Crestatia?"

Upon the request Altair reached into his pocket and brought up the email on his smartphone "ah here we go" Altair said placing the phone on the table before him for the others to have access to "though I wonder...just why would she even care if we commit suicide before the designated time. I guess losing entertainment most likely would be the cause, but this brings up a bigger question...just what are these punishments suppose to be exactly? It says the punishment will losing the opprotunity of having a short painless death...but what if there is more..." Altair said closing his eyes and raising both his hands "though before anybody says anything I have some simple words...shut up and let me finish" Altair said suddenly and put on a smile. Things were getting chaotic and they really needed to get themselves more organized.

Resting his cheek back on his fist, Altair looked down and began to stir the drink he received with his finger. "Now...Death is usually considered the end...but if you commit suicide how will she punish you? Would she stop the attempt? Would she give you a horrific death instead....or maybe just take you to round two?" Altair said as he nonchalantly continued to stir his drink. "Just what if death wasn't the only punishment for breaking the rules...what if it was only the first step. Would the game continue after dying? Will we suffer eternal damnation?" Altair said as he closed his eyes and smiled "well then that is just some food for thought..if you all want we can return to the topic of the unreadable rule" Altair said.

"She said out deaths would be quick and painless. I imagine if we try to commit suicide, she won't allow us and make our deaths not quite so quick and painless." Abby spoke for the first time since the discussion started, she much preferred to sit back and listen to the others. It was interesting listening to what they had to say. "The small print is probably more rules, which is probably why she said that we were all already breaking some as for the most part I don't think we've broken the ones we can see. So if we know what they are, we can at least be wary of them." Her voice was so quiet, barely audible, yet she pronounced each word so clearly, all the time looking down at her hand.

She paused for a second before adding, "Maybe it is a game to her and the rules are just there to make sure we do what we want. She said to use our time wisely. If we have only so long to live, then surely we've got to make every single day count, do something worthwhile. If we spend all 100 days just worrying about it, then it'll be up before we know it and we won't have even appreciated the time we have left. There might be a way to live longer but for now, if we take it as fact, surely we should be making the most of it." Abby clutched her scarf and became silent once more, sort of wishing she hadn't spoken. She didn't like everyone looking at her and she feared they'd just mock her for what she'd just said.

[Tumblr ~ OOC ~ Listening to♪ (not in the mood for music this morning)]

The evening of the 'fourth day' had ended without much happening event wise. Tyler had gotten home, dropped his bad to the floor and tried to forget the day's events by washing them away with a hot shower. He felt pretty rotten. Not because of the whole 96 days left to live thing, but... He could tell... His worry for Quin just made her feel worse, and that in turn made him feel depressed. Tyler hated making people feel bad whether intentional or not (and he never aimed for intentional in the first place). He'd sighed deeply, and after his shower, flung himself onto his bed to sleep, not bothering to check Tumblr.

The next day... he sent Quin a text saying he had to go into school early so he'd be leaving ahead of her and she can just drive herself today. And so... he took a long walk. Passing by the scenery, going the long way through the park and trying to keep his head clear as he thought about Crestatia and everything else that was happening. Is there anything I can do? ...Anything at all? There must be something I'm capable of that can make a difference. He delved deep into his mind letting his creative juices take over and turn his mind into a deductive processing machine that would be able to seek out any and all answers. ...If there were any to be found that is, and so far, he was drawing blanks. Everyone on that email... were they chosen at random? It's not like any of them including himself deserved death. It's not like Thomas did. Or the two who would die today either. Crestatia... who was she? Why was she doing this? Out of boredom? She reminded him of characters from several manga and anime he had been interested in. Crestatia is the GameMaster in all of this. The one holding all the cards... A real Frederica Bernkastel. The one overseeing this game of hers. She can possibly see all the outcomes that lie ahead. ...heck, she's probably created them all already in such a case. And then it clicked to Tyler. As sick as it was... he'd need to look at it from her perspective. She was a GameMaster, 'Game' being the key word. This was a game to her. So... But... if she's doing this for fun... then wouldn't it get boring if it was too predictable. If everything went as planned, while she might be satisfied that it all goes according to plan, all she is doing is watching us walk to our deaths. No... Any gamer knows this fact. One of the most boring things of all is watching someone else play a game. She's going to involve herself and take an active role in this. The question is how?... and... is there a way that we can work that to our advantage? How many will have to die before we can escape this? ...Or will we simply all die as she expects? This was simply all guesswork on Tyler's part, but the fact was... if she was involving herself, while she'd be playing this game to win... if the result was predictable, what would be the point in playing? Would this be like watching a movie to her? Or would she want to influence the direction of the game as it went along, and if that was the case... was there anything any of the 'players' would be able to do to influence this direction into a favorable outcome. It was like this was all a visual novel, and there were certain 'flags' that would trigger events, but what were those flags going to be and what would they trigger? It was tied into the rules, that was the biggest clue they had been given. A game needs rules, and those rules determined how they would live their lives the next 95 days. They would be related to any possible flags that could be triggered,
Lost in his thoughts... Tyler made it to school in no time. Everything started as normal, but Tyler did notice something strange... ...Where the hell is everybody?

"Just what if death wasn't the only punishment for breaking the rules...what if it was only the first step. Would the game continue after dying? ..."

She could barely contain her excitement. Why would death be scary if it wasn't the end? Still, a lot of them looked frightened. It was understandable...somewhat. From their perspective, at least. But still, it made her hopeful that Thomas wasn't simply rotting away. She shifted and rested her chin on her palm with a gentle yawn.

"Can you bring up the email?"

"If we spend all 100 days just worrying about it, then it'll be up before we know it and we won't have even appreciated the time we have left."

Plausible, but she can't imagine ignoring the rules would please a deity looking for entertainment...If that was her true goal.

"Let's see what the fine print says, first...Maybe it'll make a difference."

Temperance eyed Madeline suspicious. The gleam in her eyes was so sickening. This truly thrilled her. "How do you expect to read that? I'm sure at least most of us have already tried. Whatever that rules is, she doesn't want us to know, at least, not now. It's probably meant to be a surprise or something. Some sort of unexpected twist to throw in our face when we think we've finally figured out her game." There. She said something calm, rational, and intelligent.

She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table, and took a sip of her iced tea. Lacey's brewed the best raspberry iced tea and it always seemed to make her happier, except for now. There was no way she could muster the same elated glee that Madeline appeared to possess. It was creepy.

"Well maybe, but let's say this is all a game to her. What's the point in having it impossible? If everyone just gives up, it's no fun. No, I think she'll make it hard and almost impossible but not quite. Give us a bit of hope to make the game more exciting. I agree, let's at least try and work out this fine print." Abby answered, while taking out her phone and bringing the email up on it. She really disliked Temperance as she'd been bullied and hurt so much as a result of that girl. Yet she tried so hard to not let it show, she didn't want the girl to know the power she held over her. Placing her phone, with the fine print of the email unreadable on the screen, down on the table, she looked up at the others. "Admittedly I have no idea how we are going to go about trying to read this email"

Chase murmured an apology under his breath and listened to what everybody had to say. After the email had been brought up Chase looked at it, still seemed pretty unreadable...Unless..."Maybe we're looking at it wrong, maybe it's like a code...Or an anagram." Chase concentrated hard the small writing "Actually if you look there is a capital N...Could be N for 'No' like 'No drinking while driving' or a rule like that...Or a different word starting with N...Does anybody have anything we can write all the letters down on? It would be easier to figure out if everything was, you know, bigger" Chase hoped he'd not made a total fool of hiself a second time

Temperance pursed her lips and pulled out a sheet of paper from her purse. It was the printed version of the email she had shown to cherno on Saturday when they last met here. She smoothed out the wrinkled sheet and set it on the table in front of chase, along with a pen. It was the most logical idea anyone had come up with regarding the last rule listed in the email. While others insisted to not let it bother them, knowing would be for the best. It was safest if they knew all the rules. "Here. I printed this off a couple days ago."

She sighed and rubbed her temples. All of this was starting to give her a head ache, but it was for the best, right? She couldn't help but think of the fact that it was day five. Tuesday. shit. Tuesday. her parents would be home today. Certainly the school would call saying she was absent. Truency had been hanging in the balance for so long, but now it would happen. Too many classes skipped. Too many unfocused absences. She was fucked academically. At least this way she wouldn't live long enough to be held back a second time. To be an even bigger failure. They had til what? March maybe, if they were lucky. Not even prom. Oh prom. She loved prom last year. She had been able to attend as a sophomore since Josh asked her.

damnit! Focus. Need to pay attention. This is important. it was hard for her to stay focussed for long. Her mind tended to wander aimlessly at crucial moments.

She leaned in closer to get a good look at Abby's phone. Eh. Still looked unclear to her. She tried putting it together the way Chase was explaining, but that seemed just impossible to figure out--at least for her. Still, he was right. They needed something bigger. Something they could all look at.

"No one has a laptop or something? If not, we may need to move locations."

She glanced around behind her. It seemed that some of the waiters and waitresses were wondering why they were still there if they weren't going to eat.

Temperance whipped out a piece of paper and Madeline narrowed her eyes just slightly, wondering why she hadn't shared that sooner. She leaned forward and gazed at the printed off email. The print was so tiny! It wasn't that it was a code or something, it was just too small. Even a magnifying glass wouldn't help them--unless it was super high tech government shit, and you couldn't highlight and copy anything from the email online.

    Ugh.

Cherno stumbled, his face ghostlike, his hands shaking. His Rubik's cube rattled to the floor, and his only save was the entrance of Johnathan into the diner. The words of the others had been entering one of his ears barely -- and, and it looks like they were forgetting a few crucial things. But how the hell could he tell them in this toilet of tartarus?! He slipped by the seat he held onto with a death grip, wheezing, puffing. Huff. Huff. Huff. Goddamn germs.

Germs everywhere. Ugh. So dirty so dirty fuck this place so much jesus hell he -- he couldn't stay here any longer he -- he had to think of an alternative an alternative ugh so dirty so dirty shit urgh there was crawling something moving crawling germs dirty something on the seat oh no oh nO oH NO OH NO GET THE HELL OFF YOU STUPID FUCKING GERMS

He yelped and wiggled away the clammy hand that had strangled the seat before. Cherno slipped, his teeth clenched, and fell backwards on the floor. The floor. Germs everywhere goddamnit all to heck. Poor Cherno's brain began shutting down again.

"Yo-you--" Huff. "You're-- you're all--" Huff. "Forgetting! Fuck. F-forgetting some--" Huff. "Something important! She-- th-that is--" Huff. Huff. "That is-- Haha, I mean, Cres-- Crestatia--" Huff. He closed his eyes. He could barely take this. He needed to think of a plan fast. Right. Distant communication. "Crestatia--" Huff. "S--She gave us--" Huff. "A-- A--" Huff. Huff. Huff. "Time l--limit! Time limit! One hundred days! One hundred fu--fucking days!" Huff. Huff. "Two people dead! T--two peo--" Huff. Huff. Huff. He began slouching on the ground. Distant communication. He needed a phone! "Two p--people-- a--alive at the--" Huff. He was going to faint soon. He had something important to tell them as well. "I-- I have to tell y'all s--some important-- ugh, screw it--" He had been sweating profusely. Goddamnit, he probably looked crazy right now. Why did he agree to this. Cherno you idiot.

So he yelled at the top of his lungs, staring back at them with breathless and reddened, wide eyes.

Xavier remained silent as everyone gave their idea about Crestatia's true intentions. Some were good, others were interesting. Either way, it didn't bring them any closer to solving the mystery. Fortunately the email the started this insanity had be placed on the table by different people in different way. He chose to look at the sheet Temperance pull out, seeing it as an easier way of looking at it. All he could get form it was a bunch of gibberish. Even though he could make out the letters, finding a word that he knew was proving to be difficult. IF this is what we have to work off of, then it won't be easy.

(OOC: Sorry for the delay, I had school today)
"Mom, come quick! My stomach hurts and I feel like I'm gonna- bleargghhhh!"
Of course, the faux vomit worked like a charm! Ash's mother was convinced that she had a stomach virus and she should stay home from school.
"Just rest until I get home Ashie, I should be back from classes by 4:30." Her mother told her as she walked through the door.
The next few hours for Ash were uneventful, just working on her music and browsing the internet for her.
Then she checked her watch: 12:15. Then she remembered what Madeline said.
"Holy crap! I'm late!" Ash shouted, then she grabbed a coat and gloves and burst out the door.
When she made it to Laceys, she found Madeline and the rest of the group easily and walked over to them.
"Sorry I'm late people, I got carried away with some stuff and lost track of time. So what happened while I was gone?"
