Well, if she was going to meet her death . . . But that voice did not sound good at all. Kallisti was honestly, truly terrified at the thought of what might happen to her. Temperance had found an ax before they heard the voice. Patting around in the dark, she grabbed it and put it somewhere she could reach if she needed.

And then, a window shattered. Kallisti spun around and looked at Temperance. That was wonderful too, she supposed. Kallisti hopped out the window and began to run away from the building. Nearby, she could have sworn she heard rushing water.

 

He shook his head hard though he much wanted to meet the ghost. He sounded so nice and vicious. But he kept quiet and tried to not even breathe. He was not going to get gutted here. So imagine his surprise when he heard shattering glass! He peered through the slits in the door and saw that a window was open. He burst from the door and dived through it. He fella and tried to roll and run a beeline to the Riverbank. He justest his mommy.

As soon as Quintus jumped out the window, Temperance climbed onto the counter and jumped down as well. That only left the guy that was with them. She turned back to face the broken window of the building and shouted to him. "Are you coming or what?!" Gods she hated people. They were all incompetent and took far too long. She didn't wait any longer before running off past Quintus. She wasn't waiting on anyone. Hopefully that car was still on the side of the road.

Temperance made the terrible decision of glancing over her shoulder. She could see him jumping out the window and running after them. Her legs were burning. Her chest heaved violently as breathing became difficult. She was panting, but not once did she let go of the metal rod. The car seemed to be growing nearer and nearer. Her knees buckled, but she fought the urge to collapse. When she reached the car, she slammed her hands down on the hood and wrenched the door open, climbing inside. Temperance left the rod in her lap, locking the driver's door and fumbled around searching for the keys.

The two of them got to the car, where they should have gone first, and now they were looking for keys while being pressed for time because the psychopath was after them. Kallisti searched high and low inside the car for where the keys might be, under the seats, in the glove box, everywhere.

HAPPILY, HE FOLLOWS YOU. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, YOU NOTICE HIS CHEEKS AND FINGERS HAVE DRIED BLOOD ON THEM. HIS WHITE SHIRT AND SLACKS ARE STAINED WITH IT AS WELL. HE CARRIED A PISTOL IN HIS LEFT HAND AND A MACHETE IN HIS RIGHT. HE APPROACHES THE CAR WITH A CHILDLIKE GIGGLE.​

Bernadette felt a hand connect with hers and then she was no longer in the water. She heaved what bits of water she had swallowed onto the ground and then smiled up at Harley appreciatively. "Thanks," she panted. She looked down the riverbank and saw Madeline was on the shore. That was good. Did Thomas not make it? she didn't see him anywhere. Bernie bit her lip and took deep steady breaths to try and calm down. She thought she heard shouting in the distance and cocked her head to the side. "Du yuu hear dat?"

Temperance ripped open the center console hoping the keys would be in there. She also glanced at the ignition, just to make sure she didn't stupidly miss them right there attached to the steering wheel. There was no way she was opening the door for him.

 

Temperance glanced up to the window, not rolling it down. "Do you have the keys?" she asked him. It would be absolutely terrifying if he did.

Temperance nibbled frantically on her lip. She should have killed herself when she had the chance. Her hands were trembling on the steering wheel. Green eyes stayed locked onto the crazed red eyes that lurked outside the window. He was asking to be let in, when he could easily shatter the glass with the gun. She took a nervous gulp before glancing back up at him sweetly. "If you tell me where the keys are, I'll do something for you in exchange, but you can't kill us." Her eyes narrowed at him. "I mean it. If you want in the car, those are my rules."

 

"I promise, but you have to leave those weapons outside the car." She motioned for Quin to get in the backseat. There was no way she would trust him behind her.

 

Kallisti glared at the psychopathic boy, but she couldn't help but feel strange about him. 'When we were kids'? She didn't know. Temperance was . . . Okay. She breathed out, and got into the backseat, trying to remain calm.

❝HMM. ALRIGHT! THE KEYS ARE IN THE TRUNK! YOU CAN GET TO THE TRUNK FROM THE BACKSEAT!❞​

HE DROPS HIS GUN AND MACHETE AND WAITS FOR THE DOOR TO BE OPENED.

Temperance hesitantly leaned over and unlocked the front passenger door. She pushed it open for him to get in and set the metal bar in the back with Quin. "Quintus, will you get the keys out of the trunk and hand them up to me. We need to find the others." Her hands were still trembling, but the sweet smile didn't leave her face. "Welcome to the club," she greeted him.

 

When Kallisti got into the backseat, she immediately pulled the seats down to reveal the trunk, and thus the keys. She grabbed them, looking tentatively at the psycho who was now in the car. " Hello. " she said with a smile, clutching the keys. She gave Temperance a 'what now' look.
