There were quite a few things going through his head at this point, most of them making him want to cry. He managed though, and when he could finally accept that he was actually alive, he began to calm down. His head lifted and he winced. Maybe he had gotten hurt, but it wasn't bad. A bit of blood trickled down from his right cheek. Glass. That was nice. He needed so medicine.

The smell of ashes reached him as his senses returned. His senses...Oh! People were on fire! He shot up to stand, peering around the room. He did not want to see a dead body, and was pleased to notice that everyone was mostly alright...His eyes lingered on Marina and he pressed his lips together in a thin line, considering approaching her. With soft steps, he walked past her instead, standing right behind her as to give her some time blocked from the view of the others, to compose herself. He felt bad. His eyes searched for Elliot. He was okay. Good.

Is everyone okay? I am going to call my father. He can help.

He took his phone out of his pocket, dialed the number for his dad and pressed the phone to his ear. After a few rings...

    James--STATIC--! I...What did you do?!

Um. I will explain later, it was...This is an emergency and I...Actually need your help. First, how do we get out of here? Can you disarm the system?

    I could--STATIC-- but--!

GREAT! We need that. Can't open the door and...well, after this, I think they want to go home. It's getting late.

He was rambling a bit now, but he was somewhat hysterical. He still wanted to cry and he had a massive headache. He wanted these people out so that he could properly contemplate suicide.

    James...It would unfortunately
--STATIC-- be of you and your friends best interests to stay at Antilum. It is clear to me now that you haven not heard what is happening here.--STATIC--Look at the news.

    O
    h no.

    ...What are you talking about?

The labs are--STATIC--James, I need STATIC--Do you understan--?!STATIC. You need to get--STATIC--whatever you do don--STATIC.
    --54629920

The phone went dead. What was that number?? The...system override code, maybe?

Exasperatedly, Theodore crossed over to the control panel and jammed the numbers into the glowing touchpad. The alarm stopped blaring, but the lighters were still a bright red, casting an ominous glow over the group. He tried the door, successfully opening it.

You're...free to go. But my father says something is going down, and that maybe we shouldn't be leaving Antilum...I'm not sure what's going on yet, but I am going to check the news on the loft television now.

Somewhere in the distance, a whistling noise is heard, almost the same as when an airplane flies overhead. After a few moments of silence, Antilum trembles--as if there is a sudden violent earth quake. From the windows, those looking can see a brilliant flash in the far off distance. A plume of smoke billows up instantly after.
1, 2, 3--a massive, delayed explosion is heard. Lights flicker on in houses and buildings, people peering out of the windows and a few screams sound off in response.
    ...What was that?

To add on to his mild burns and stiffness, Kallisti was acting weird. He stared at her while she stood at the broken-open window. Would she really jump out of it? Was she really that weak? She was taking too long, so he grabbed her hand and dragged her away from the window.

    Vanille

was crying; no one else seemed to care . . . He tiredly walked over to her, and grabbed her hand as well, Shakily, she looked at him and then pressed her face into his sore chest. It was fine. He didn't care at this point. Everyone in the room was shaken up - he might as well take care of those he knew best. Crestatia. She was permanently on her period - he fucking swore it. She went away just for Cherno apologizing?

    Talk about temperamental.

He watched the phone call Theo had with his old man. It seemed like something was going on, and they were gonna have to stay in this godforsaken building . . . No more fucking surprises tonight, he was tired.

" You're...free to go. But my father says something is going down, and that maybe we shouldn't be leaving Antilum...I'm not sure what's going on yet, but I am going to check the news on the loft television now. "

    Great.

With Vanille and Kallisti in his hands, he began to walk, only stopping when he realized a faint, whistling sound was heard. What the hell was that? He turned around and looked out the wall of shattered windows, and then saw a plane zoom by . . . Just a few moments later, Antilum began to shake and he put a clutch on the two girls and dragged all of them down to the floor, waiting for the tremor to pass. What the hell was going on?

    Fucking Crestatia.

A bright, brilliant white flash showed in the distance, and then there was smoke. Had that plane dropped a . . . bomb? Were they being bombed? He looked at Kallisti and thought the same thing she did; it was the Auditorium . . . all over again.

Shit. He picked up the two girls and hurried out of the room after Theo to see what was on the news.

No more fucking surprises tonight, please.

Marina had managed to pull herself to her feet when the door opened, only to stumble when the earth rumbled. She fell onto a chair and gripped the edge of the table like her life depended on it, and given the night she was having, it probably did. When her eyes moved to the window, she saw a plume of smoke billowing up in the distance. What had just happened? Even on the twenty-fifth floor, they could hear distant screams coming from the many houses below and nearby. What was going on outside?

Things appeared to just be beginning. The events in that conference room were not all they would face that night. She had managed to calm her crying, but felt the dread of despair wash over her further. Marina just wanted this night to end. She wanted the comforts of her deep purple room with the stars and twinkle lights glowing everywhere. Her eyes drifted to Theodore. He had said he was going to check out the news before the tremor. Her face was etched with panic, but she swallowed it back and steadied herself as she stood. "I am coming with you." she told him. Marina stepped closer to him and gently latched onto his bicep, trying not to hurt any potential burns he might have. She left the shoes where they lay, broken glass and rubble crunching under her feet. There was a stabbing sensation in her foot, and she was pretty sure she cut it.

The sudden explosion brought on a new sudden surge of adrenaline. She would be feeling that cut tomorrow, that was for sure. Her blue eyes softened as she looked at him. His cheek was bleeding and she noticed a shard of glass protruding from it. "You should--we should--glass...face..." her voice faltered as she stepped out of the conference room. They needed to see what the news had to say, immediately.

Temperance was still listening to music and playing games on her phone when the bed began to shake. She immediately sat upright as the lights flickered. What was going on? She curled up into a small ball against her pillows, pulling her knees to her chest. It was rather uncomfortable, given her recent bout of malnutrition it was amazing she could even touch anything without breaking. Something compelled her to go to the window, but it sounded like a bad idea. Just before the room shook, there had been a bright light out the window. Whatever was going on out there, she didn't want to know. She would find out soon enough, granted, that meant her roommate would have to come back. Would Madeline survive all this?

Cherno hadn't texted her back yet either. Were they okay? There was no doubt in her mind that whatever was happening outside was somehow related to them. She should have gone. She could still--no. It was already too late. Would it hurt to head to the entrance of the dorm though? She could get a slightly better view of who knows what. There might not even be anything out there.

Temperance sighed and unwrapped herself. She picked up a fleece throw blanket and tossed it over her shoulders. Her slippered feet hit the floor and she walked to the door, phone in hand. She left it unlocked as lights continued to flicker on and off. Taking the elevator sounded like a bad idea with the power so sketchy, so she headed for the stairs.

He was already in the hallway peering into the conference room when the explosion hit, causing him to lose his balance and slam into the wall.

    SHIT!!

After a few moments, he made sure nothing else was going to knock him off of his feet and turned towards Marina as she spoke. His cheeks glowed, but he felt agitated still, so he simply nodded and pushed forward, making sure Marina was close by. He reached up to pluck the glass from his cheek with a wince and entered the loft with Marina. Fucking hell what a terrible night. Theodore quickly found the television and turned it on, flipping the station manually to the news channel.

...--TO BRING YOU A SPECIAL NEWS BULLETIN. IT APPEARS THAT A UFO, OR SOME SORT OF MISSILE -- PRESUMABLY FROM SPACE -- HAS BEEN DROPPED IN THE HEART OF SNOWTOWN. THE NUMBER OF CASUALTIES IS UNKNOWN, BUT THE DEATH TOLL IS GUESSTIMATED TO BE IN THE THOUSANDS. THAT IS ALL OF THE INFORMATION WE HAVE AT THE TIME, BUT OUR CREW IS HEADING TO THE LOCATION. PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

The staticy image stayed on the screen before switching to footage of the smoke and of various people crying and explaining the feeling of the trembling and the loud sound.

Theodore was just about to turn the television off when the screen changed. There was a chair with a feminine figure seated there. She wore a bag over her face, but did not appear to be in any danger. Instead, she leaned forward and tapped the camera, clearing her throat.

...Hello, world! I will cut straight to the chase...I'm the one who dropped the silly bomb from outer space! ...Oh, if you want to survive, and I know you do, it would be in your best interest to assume that's true. Anyway, don't worry, I don't want to waste your time! Listen, I'll keep bombing 'till some pesky kids are mine. So for the sake of planet earth, I'll show you the full list. And from my heart to everyone, I wish you luck with this.

Theodore frowned. Oh no. The woman waved and giggled, her voice airy and light. Then the screen went black and a list of names appeared. ...Not just any names. Of course not.

    Their names appeared.

Heidi was in and out of consciousness until the bed beneath her began to shake. She was afraid that she might be having another seizure, but that made no sense since she was still conscious. Her wrists and ankles were still strapped to the bed. The lights flickered on and off and the machines blinked off then back on. Containers fell off of the counters and crashed to the floor around her. She began to panic, struggling against the restraints. What could possibly be going on? She watched as figures ran frantically past the window in her door. The power blipped and then the back up generators were running.

There was shouting, but no one stopped to talk to her. The screen on her heart monitor went black once more and all that could be heard were the strange noises out the window across the room. It relit itself, matching pace with the clip on her finger. She struggled harder and harder. Marks were already beginning to take form on her body, as if it were the first time. She was used to this sort of thing by now. It was nothing new. She felt for the remote attached to the bed. It was fortunately within her finger reach and pushed the on button. It seemed to be set on the generator's power system and to that, she was grateful. Rarely did she like watching the news, but this was important. She needed to know. How many more had just died?

Marina sat down in front of the screen as Theodore turned on the television. A UFO--if it were not for all the Crestatia related craziness, she would not have believed it. She sat there silently listening. This was crazy. The could not chalk it up to terrorist bombing, but UFO missiles? That was, until the screen changed. Despair seeped into her bones the second she saw the woman with a bag on her face seated on the chair. She was clearly controlling the camera. There was no other way to explain it. When she opened her mouth, she shuddered. ❝...Hello, world! ❞ This didn't make sense. It could not be Crestatia. Did she not need one of them to be their vessel? Could she posses anyone? Or was it Analynne?

Her hands were shaking as their names appeared on the screen. This was a sick and twisted joke. "How can she fucking do this!?" Marina rarely swore, but now seemed more fitting than ever. "EVERYONE GET IN HERE!" she shouted back to those that still remained in the conference room. This was worse than anything they had experienced so far. Her phone started to ring in her bra, but she ignored it. No doubt her mother was watching this same report right now. This was huge. They were probably being viewed as terrorists or something. The government would be looking for them. They had no where to go, no where to hide. They were royally screwed. "Why...?" she muttered to herself. Tears began to streak her cheeks all over again. She was ready to jump out that window. She was ready to be done.

Bernadette had dozed off with the computer in front of her face, only to be rudely awaken by the tremors of the earth. Her hands latched onto the electronic device to keep it from crashing to the floor. She curled up, wide-eyed with fear. She didn't remember hearing about earthquakes being common in this area. Was war das? When it stopped, she closed the computer and left it on the bed, wrapping up in a blanket and moving in front of the television. Would the news have anything to report yet?

Her eyes widened at what the newscaster had to say. Aliens? That was not possible. She shook her head until the screen changed. Who was that girl in the mask? She swallowed nervously as she began to talk.

...Hello, world! I will cut straight to the chase...I'm the one who dropped the silly bomb from outer space! ...Oh, if you want to survive, and I know you do, it would be in your best interest to assume that's true. And from my heart to everyone, I wish you luck with this.

Her heart began to sink. What was this girl talking about? As the names began to flash across the screen, her heart raced. They were people she had seen at school, but never had the nerve to approach. What did she want with a bunch of--her name appeared. Just like all the others, her name flashed across the screen. Then, she started to put the pieces together. This was because of that email. The boy named Theodore Weldon had invited them to his house for some party in regards to the email. She had dismissed it. Clearly that was the wrong thing to do. Was soll ich tun? Was werden die Leute machen? Werden sie jagen uns? Wie sollen wir überleben? Her eyes were still wide with horror as she shut off the television and quickly scrambled back to her bed. They were in trouble. She needed to get a hold of the others. The only way she knew how was to respond to that Theodore boy once more. "Bitte antworten Sie mir."

"F-fine..." A lie, but whatever. "And maybe... I guess." It would be better if that wasn't true, not unless Plume won.

Everything ached. Surely some of his skin suffered some burns, however after a quick inspection it appeared that his clothes took much of the damage. Still, the burns would remain for quite some time. At least the mask spared him from inhaling smoke. Some fresh air would be nice right about now, but before removing it a change-

The ground shook. Looking to the window he noticed the cause, a bomb of sorts. Oh. Wonderful.

Once his balance was restored Elliot left the conference room to join Theodore just in time to catch the news report. As if the bombs weren't enough, but surely now they would be treated like the cause. People were idiotic like that, after all. They would miss that the fact the person doing this - who was probably actually a demon - did not automatically mean they were at fault. In fact, he was sure that some will treat it as if they had drop the bomb themselves instead of being the ones in danger.

The next bit, that they would be offered up to save everyone else, was an easy hypothesis. In fact, if it were not for him knowing that none of them even existed he would happily go along with that idea. However, as he had a chance to become real it felt as if he and this group were better than the rest of humanity. No one else should even be there.

    This will be troublesome...

Ignoring the pain caused by moving Elliot went to sit on the nearest chair, removing his mask to breathe easier. His gloves were also taken off, given the fact that the fire had ruined them. Luckily this place was clean enough for him to be able to continue focusing on the problem at hand, though once his lungs were filled with some air the mask was put back on. Having bare hands was never a problem at least, so long as he did not have to touch anything.

Is this one of the reasons why he was one of the first to catch fire... He and that Plume kid had to be the weakest links, if the order meant anything. He would be the next to die at this rate... Maybe he could prove that just because he was a germ freak that it did not mean he wouldn't take risks, as those two things seemed to tie in.

He could try another summoning... As one to catch fire it seemed like he would be the last to consider this, but the blame was placed on that psychic and masked girl since they were the ones to call the demon down who then proceeded to tell them that they messed up. He would have been more careful. Though no attempt would be made in the presence of this lot, especially since the number of them seemed off putting for their dear game master.

That made it a problem for later... So now to focus on the problem for now.

It was a stupid idea, to think this could be solved with a simple name change, but the thought crossed his mind anyway. At least he was smart enough to push it aside as quickly as it came. They would need to lay low. Here was a nice place, though with this being his father's workplace it would not last long. Would they need a warrant still when such a danger was presented? So much red tape could be jumped over in a situation like this...

A day, perhaps. Shock would last a bit, then a plan of action would need to be made for the other side as well. The school and his home would be checked first as well. So maybe even two days. Though once he considered the size of the labs the idea that he could hide if they ever search it and, if he was not found, the place would be checked off and become safe once again. Maybe.

"W-we need a plan to handle this... Ow... A night, here, at least. To rest and think..." He could not even run, not like this. He would need the burns checked out before anything, really. His mother might be of assistance, as he would not trust any strangers. If only he was naive enough to think that this would not be of much trouble to them. But humans were always trouble.

Some cold water would be nice...

Maybe his parents could set up a bank account in a country without an extradition law. Though maybe that idea only popped up due to a movie he recently saw... Seemed rather useless when running from something inhuman. It had to be one of the demons, right? Who else would have all their names and the power to drop such a missile...

Perhaps that deal thing he was thinking about earlier could save him. Though would he really be as selfish to make a deal to remove only his name from this list? It seemed like asking the whole thing to be called off to be too much, which is why he came to removing only one name. Though maybe three could be taken off... He wouldn't share this idea with the others either way.

    "Objections?"

Although Bronagh was still not feeling good, sleep had helped.
    x
Or at least the sleep she had before she was interrupted.
    x
She felt shaking and assumed at first it was her temperature balance being off, but realized that the entire room was shaking as well. When all had stopped Bronagh cautiously sat up in her bed and picked up her phone and searched to see if anyone was freaking out online about it.
    x
Well, they were... but not because of an earthquake....
    x
Bronagh Google searched the news and fortunately and unfortunately, they were live streaming the incident, or at least people talking about it. Bronagh bit her lip and she drank a sip of water and listened,
    xx

    x
Bronagh scratched the back of her head as she went to put her glass of water down and heard another voice pop up.

    x
    x
Bronagh's eyes widened as she read each of the names, she of course knew who there people were, the ones who had received the email... with a couple of names she did not know or recognize. So when she finally saw her name pop up, she thought it would be weird if it hadn't. Bronagh switched to a new tab and opened up her email and looked around for Theodore's email. She wrote up a quick message and sent it off.
    x
    x
Bronagh slowly stood up and walked over towards the window. So was this now a game of Hide and Seek? Would people question why this woman would want them in the first place? Who the hell was that woman?
    x
Only knowing what I know based off science fiction novels and early accounts of the Roswell Conspiracy, humans tend to freak out when the threat of alien "invasion" occurs... so basically, we don't get killed, or at least try not to get killed.
    x
She poked her head slightly through the curtain, a couple of students from Bellhurst were being idiots and using this as an excuse to run around screaming at the top of their lungs... how pathetic...

Marina sat up straight on the couch as everyone gathered. "W-we need a plan to handle this... Ow... A night here at least. To rest and think..." Elliot piped up. Wait here? Then what? People did crazy things in the event of a disaster. It was only a matter of time until someone came looking for them. He wanted them all to just sit there twiddling their thumbs and bide time? "Objections?" Of course there were going to be objections, and she would be one of the people objecting. She would have none of it. Marina was tired of waiting for something to happen. They needed to end this, now and she did not care if she had to do it by herself.

She stood from her spot and winced in pain from the burns. "Elliot, you can sit here and cower all you wish, but I will have none of it. She wants us, and she is not going to stop until she gets what she wants. I have no intentions of just sitting here as she destroys everything. How long do you expect we have until someone comes knocking down that door or the ones on our dorms? People know where we are. They will panic and do what she asks and I for one am not giving her that satisfaction." Marina moved to the closet that she had noticed an Antilum employee stow away their belongings. She pulled out her coat and clutch and gently eased her arms through the sleeves. "You may all sit here if you wish, but I am going to go do something about this. I am not waiting any longer. This needs to stop now." Her voice was stern and serious. Fear still ate away at her, but she was tired of being scared. Someone needed to step up, and why not let it be her?

Marina moved to collect her heels and slipped her feet back inside of the straps. It stung the soles, but pain would have to wait til later. She needed to move and quickly. "Feel free to join me if you wish," she said after reentering the lobby from the conference room. "To those of you that stay here and hide, I hope I never see you again after this is over. If you want to win--if you want to exist--, then you need to stand up for yourselves and do something about it. Crestatia wants someone who can think outside of the box and hold their own. Remaining here is pathetic," she spat out before moving to the door.

It would be difficult to reach the area that the demon was located, given the immense damage, but she would manage somehow. She had to. After saying all of that, she could not back down. She had to make it to Crestatia or Analynne, whichever it was down, there and say something. This would not be tolerated, not now. Once in the hallway, she rested her hand against the wall and leaned into it for a moment. Marina felt ready to vomit. She had to get her nerves under control. She took a few deep breathes before taking shaky painful steps forward. One step at a time. She would make it there. She just had to try.

Theodore groaned in annoyance, his cheek still stinging. His phone started to vibrate and he yanked it out of his pocket, glaring at the email alert and skimming it quickly before typing up a quick message.

Good. With that taken care of, maybe, he turned to Marina during her rant/speech and pressed his fingers to his temples. So rash, but after that it would be terrible of him to stop her, maybe. He had NO idea where the hell she was planning on going at all, but...

Okay, well to the rest of you, please stay put. If you're injured or burn, let's take care of that before any storm offs, please. There should be a first aid kit behind the bar. We can discuss a plan of action while dressing any wounds.

While they hopefully were competent enough to get started on that, Theo ignored his cheek and left the loft. His phone vibrated and he almost threw it. Bronagh. UGH. Maybe these idiots should have actually attended. NOW they wanted anything to do with him?

THEN he hurried to find Marina--who hadn't gotten that far through the lobby by the time he appeared.
    Hey...Hey! Where are you going???

Bronagh was still staring out the window when she got a reply,
We summoned Crestatia, she got mad, but I don't think this has anything to do with that.

    Wait... they had summoned Crestatia?
Bronagh stared at the message for a few minutes but the message wasn't one she could exactly reply to. So she didn't, rather she moved from the window and sat on her bed.
Why did they summon her, did they even have a reason to? Was I left out of some sort of loop?
I understand that people... you know... died... but... did they have an actual reason to summon her other than try?
fuck it... I don't care... yeah I do...
Bronagh turned back on the news on her phone and watched. With her name out on the news she really did not want to go out of he-
Bronagh ran into the bathroom quickly.

She wasn't particularly caring of leaning on Harley at this time. The hell they had all just experienced was . . . And it was just going to get worse. The news . . . Whoever that woman was, she was having the whole world come after them. They were going to be hunted for until this woman said stop. Humans were pathetic things; easily scared, swayed, and ridiculously idiotic.

The moment their names scrolled through the screens, Kallisti was already on the phone, calling the one person she never wanted to speak to, ever, to ask for help.

" Kallisti, Harley, what have you done?! " Her voice was unusually frantic, but for the most part, she was calm.

" Please, we need your help. Are you willing to provide assistance for all of the names that were just on that screen? "

The line was quiet. Lorinda was a cruel woman, a sorry excuse for a human being, but at their absolute time - of - need, she wouldn't abandon or turn on them . . . would she?

" . . . Whenever you have the spare time, you had better explain to me what's happening. " she said quietly, " You're at Antilum Laboratories, are you not? " She didn't wait for an answer, " Stay there. Dr. Timothy will surely keep you all safe, considering his son is apart of this . . . little crew you have. You cannot stay there long. I will speak to some people, and we will see about having you moved. Out of the country, if we have to. "

    Why was this happening?

" Keep me posted, Lorinda. " Kallisti said, almost pleadingly. One confirmation from her grandmother later, and she set the phone on a couch, slumped back on it, and then looked at Harley whose shirt was gone and he was treating his wounds. Everyone else was generally quiet, save Marina. That fool.

She didn't even care about running from Crestatia, or from this . . . person that had called them all out. It was the other humans she was worried about. It would be easy to evade them, so long as they had help . . . The students of Brookridge had nothing but connections, and they could all be very useful in this situation, so long as help was willing to be given.

" Yes, we should stay here for the night. " she said in reply to Elliot's nervous-sounding suggestion, " The majority of the world doesn't exactly know we exist, so we should be well for the next few days . . . " And only the next few days. Once people found out that they all existed . . . " If any of you have anyone from your families that could help us - I'm mostly looking at the original students of Brookridge - phone them and ask if they are willing to help us. "

Theodore had left after Marina. If she wanted to die so badly then let her. Kallisti wouldn't have minded helping, either. She was tired. What of Crestatia, in any matter? Did she know of this happening? There wasn't much to be said after she had left them . . . Kallisti wanted to summon her again.

Vanille had stayed close to Harley and Quin since they had left the conference room. She couldn't believe her mask was gone, burned to a crisp, and that everyone was free to see her repulsive face . . . More tears ran down her cheeks.

No one was going to be able to make her feel better, and at this point, everyone was just making her feel worse! With the whole world after them now because of some stupid demon lady calling them out, Vanille wanted nothing more than to go home and sleep in mommy's lap . . . Mommy. Was she okay?

She saw Quin set her phone down on the couch and quickly rushed over to her, ❝Q - Quin . . . M - may I - borrow y - your phone . . . ?❞ she asked frailly and the girl motioned to the small, touch-screen device without looking at it or her. Vanille nervously grabbed it and removed herself from the room and stepping out into the hallway, and quietly dialing the only number she knew by heart.

When the ringing tone continued to persist, more tears welled up in her blue eyes, threatening to spill over, but then the call finally went clear. ❝. . . How do you have this number?❞ came a cool voice she recognized, her British accent smoothed over well.

M - Mommy?❞ she whispered, trying not to cry anymore.

Oh, Vanille! Thank goodness, are you alright?❞ The woman's voice had completely changed into happiness, relief, and worry, ❝I saw everything on the news - darling, what on earth has happened?

Vanille took a long breath, ready to explain everything to the one person that truly loved her, but then remembered the first rule of the email that had been laid out: Do not tell anyone. What would happen if she did? Would Crestatia come back? Would Vanille be punished somehow? Oh, she wanted to tell her mom . . . Maybe she would, soon. Later. When she knew that she was set for death.

Mommy, you'll help, won't you? she asked evasively, ❝With . . . With what ever I ask of you?

Of course, my love . . . the woman said comfortingly, I will help you with what ever you may need. The board is not happy with what is going on, as it is greatly interfering with Project Damocles - and since all of you are students at Brookrige . . . They are not quite willing to give up their subjects just yet. You will be backed up.

It only brought a little comfort to Vanille, ❝A - Another thing . . . she started wistfully, . . . My mask has been burned.

Mom sounded extremely sympathetic, ❝Aww, darling . . . It will be alright. You have a beautiful face, no one will say anything terrible to you, do you understand?

    She sniffled and curled up against the wall, ❝I u - understand . . . I'll - call you b - back soon, okay?

Stay safe, my love. Everything will be alright.

Vanille ended the call and held the phone tightly to her chest, sniffing. Would that really be true? What would they all do now?

A big part of him was telling him to get the hell out of there. They were idiots. As much as he hated to agree with nice boy Thomas, his wench was right. The demoness had always used some sort of catalyst when she didn't just take over someone's body. But the woman with the dark eyes just sat her dumb @ss down, and invited the demoness in, without even trying or waiting on the others to come up with a better rule then the no romance rule. John sighed, he was so glad he had at least one cigarette and it was light without a second thought about anyone else's consideration. His eyes flickered over to Cherno, who had spoken, before he was burned a live. John didn't move a muscle. After all, he wasn't even acknowledge, no was he?

As his face scanned the room after their failed summoning, he noted that the little hero he assigned to guard Eleanora was missing, along with his sister. No matter though, they were both irrelevant, and it appeared that him storming out and staying to take a smoke break and concentrate had payed off, this bag bitch wanted them on a silver platter. He didn't agree with Marina's plan, after all, she seemed to have botched the summoning, after all. But he did concur with her saying that they should fight this mysterious woman head on. It was the best way to him, to keep his mother out of this, after all, she was all he had left to protect, aside from his own skin. Returning to the school was a bad idea, everyone there knew of or had heard of the flood of Bell's that had come through and who knew how popular the Brookridge kids were. So, John deduced that for now, it was safest to let his mother know that he was safe, and he'd contact her soon, and aside from that, he should reside in Antilum for a bit, after all, unless one of these idiots made it known to someone with loose lips that they were here. They should all be remotely safe for the moment. His multicolored eyes narrowed at Theodore's form as it scurried away, Theo would have to put up with the Emailed Kids for now.

What to do, who to save, and how to do it without getting killed. Who just summons a demon without having anything to give it when it already had the upper hand! He swore under his breath and dove for Madeline, her protection far outweighing his as he knocked her to the floor and dragged her under the safety of the conference table. Oh, hi Theodore. Thomas couldn't be mad at him, after all, it's not the gatherer's fault that the gatheree's messed up. He simply hovered above Madeline's body until the fire died out until it was replaced by a tremoring of the Earth. When the last rumbles faded away, he flushed and cleared his throat before standing up and brushing himself off, proffering his hand to a fallen blond girl. However he kept his ear cocked to the side, to get and retain as much of that extra special news bulletin into his memory banks as possible.
Who was this woman? How did she hack into a broadcast like that? After all, the anchorwoman didn't say they had a special video to show. It meant she literally had the tools to cut into the system, and then drop bombs...from space along with knowing their names. It made no sense...unless she was otherworldly, then it made perfect sense to make no sense.

Marina could here footsteps behind her, but she kept walking. Her heels clicked on the tile floor as lights flashed overhead. ❝Hey...Hey! Where are you going??? She stopped at the sound of Theodore's voice behind her. Marina turned on her heel to face him, her expression grim.

"I told you. I am going to stop this. Sitting here will not help anyone, Theodore. Go back to the others if you wish, but I will not." She turned back around and continued down the hall. "Goodbye Theodore. If it is Crestatia, then I will bring up that rule again. Maybe if it is just myself, then she will listen and you will be free to romance whomever it is you are wanting to have the rule abolished for." Marina called back to him. Her hand lifted above her head as she waved goodbye, not looking back. She walked until she reached the elevator and pressed the button so that she could leave this place. It was shaping up to be a long night. Already she was exhausted, but any sign of fatigue would have to be brushed aside. There was no time.

Her skin rubbed uncomfortably against the jacket as the elevator door opened and she stepped inside. Marina turned to face Theodore one last time as she pressed the buttons on the panel and waited for the doors to slide shut. She slipped her phone into the clutch and held it close to her body. Marina gave him a reassuring smile from across the hall and mouthed something to him as the doors slowly closed. "Goodbye," she muttered once behind the closed door.

She had not anticipated anyone to join her on her suicide mission, but it would have been nice to know that at least one person agreed with her. That at least one person would stick by her side while she tried to help everyone. She sighed and slumped down against the wall as the elevator moved through the walls of Antilum. That is what I get when I do not wish to make friends. No relationships means having no one to stand beside me. Relationships are for the weak. I do not need anyone. If they wish to survive, they need to act. Think outside of the box. Be proactive. They cannot just sit there and wait. The time for waiting is over.

Bernadette still knew little of this large city. It was nearly five times the size of her hometown in Germany, but if her name had appeared on the television screen, then she needed some answers. She placed a call to the taxi service. They didn't seem to pleased by the idea of picking someone up right now, until she said where she was headed. Bernie got that it was a laboratory of some sort, but she had no clue just how important they were. The dispatcher agreed to send the car and she quickly got ready. There wasn't time and she still had to tell Theodore she was on her way. Before she left the bedroom, she typed up a quick email on her laptop and slipped it in her case before exiting her dorm room.
She ran down the halls, her laptop case bouncing against her hip the whole way. Her feet padded against the staircase as she went down, down, down, until she reached the first floor. Bernadette was in a hurry and almost didn't see the girl wrapped up in a blanket by the door. Why was she just standing there? She shook her head as she ran past and out the door. There wasn't time to wonder what was up with her. There were more important things going on.
By the time she reached the outdoors and made it to the road, the car was already waiting. She climbed inside the car's backseat and buckled up. The driver pulled off of the campus and onto the city streets of Brookridge. She rubbed her hands together vigorously. Bernadette was nervous, and she didn't know what to do.

Ben sat as the news played across the TV screen. He touched the wounds on his arms. He had managed to avoid being engulfed in flames like some of the others, but he had still managed to get some bad burns. These were compounded with cuts from the glass that shattered in the explosion. He shrugged it off. He had survived the helicopter crash - in Olivia's body no less; he could survive these wounds, as well.
One-by-one, each of the email's recipients' names flashed across the screen. Ben grimaced as he saw his own name on the screen. Dammit. When he had encountered Crestatia during the trials, she had seemed somewhat benevolent, at least for a demon. As if Vanille's body bursting into flames hadn't been enough, now they were being proscribed. This report must have been broadcast to the entire state, if not the country. Who knows how quickly it would make it onto international news.
The whole world could know their names. No context. Nothing. Just that they were somehow connected to this bombing. He knew for sure now; there was no sense in trying to trust the demoness. Marina stood up and spoke to everyone before leaving the room. Ben scoffed at her. Leaving now would just be suicide... he thought. Or would it impress Crestatia? Ben looked down at the floor. Had he really become so cynical over the past month?

Temperance was standing by the door when a blond came rushing past. She watched as a cab pulled away and sighed. What was going on out there? Smoke plumes billowed up over the city and bright lights flashed in the distance. What was happening? She still hadn't received word from Cherno. Asking if anyone had died was meant to be a joke. Had someone died? Did he--no... She couldn't think like that. She kept her eyes on the smoke coming from the city and the strange light show. What was going on? Temperance pulled out her phone to send another message. It had been a couple hours since the last one.

Would he reply? There really wasn't anyone else she could text. She scrolled through her contacts until she came to Madeline's number. They hated each other, but maybe she would have better odds with her roommate than with her--than with Cherno.

She was still staring at her phone. Another explosion sounded and the floor shook. She braced herself on the wall. The blanket slid down to the floor and she reached for it, pulling it back up onto her shoulders. What did they do? Panic was starting to rise up in her. Temperance clutched her chest in one hand and brought the phone back to her face and slid her thumb across the screen.

It was a stupid thing to ask. Obviously if he was dead, he wouldn't be able to respond. She wanted to start crying again. Temperance curled up on the hallway floor, the blanket wrapped snugly around her body. She buried her face in it and took a deep breath. Not now. He might still be fine.
