The chat with the woman had been . . . okay, he guessed. Really, the whole situation was pretty damn surreal.

Harley tried asking her where this place was, but she was pretty dodgy in her answers and almost felt too clever for him. It was irritating, but since he figured he wasn't in any immediate danger, he could relax.

" So . . . " he began, clearing his throat, " How long have you been hiding out here, exactly? "

The woman looked a bit stunned by the question, but her pale face quickly cleared, " You sound far too much like your father, Harley, " she said with a nostalgic sort of smile on her face, " He was always trying to get answers as well. A pity, about him . . . "

Harley wasn't having any talk about his damned father, especially not from her, " Y'know, I'd really like it if you answered one of my questions straight, for once, " he said, more sharply than he intended.

She looked at him with a coy smile and then gave a delicate laugh, " Very well . . . " she started off, " Just over a year, now. Perhaps I would say a year and a half? When you have so much time alone, you tend to lose track of it. "

He leaned forward in his chair, a bit of an angry look crossing his face, " And you're just now revealing yours - "

His phone vibrated in his pocket and he looked at it, not realizing that he had his phone in the first place. His sights returned to the woman and with a smile, she motioned for him to check it, if he wanted.

It came out of his pocket and the screen lit up; it was a message from Heidi. Oh, first time in a while that they'd talked at all. With a sigh he read the message, but then froze upon finishing it.

. . . Please be alive? Was he okay?

    Uh.

He must have been physically deterred by this message because she spoke again, " Are you quite well, dear? " she asked, a motherly concern tinting her voice.

Did he look pale? Goddammit, wearing his emotions on his sleeves . . . But . . . If Heidi was sending this message ( because it didn't look like he was the only recipient ), that meant that something bad happened. That meant that someone died.

    Kallisti,
    Goddammit, if you don't reply
you had better not be dead
this is NOT a good time for you to be dead
    - Harley

Fucking hell, if she was dead . . . Harley looked back at the woman. His heart was racing - what did that mean for him. He almost felt like crying. What if she was dead? God.

    Shit.

    Fuck.

    Hell.

    Goddamn EVERTHING! "

He didn't realize that he was roaring that last word while the chair practically flew across the room.

" Harley Jay Jackson! " the woman scolded with a loud, commanding, and very scary tone. It made him stop and stare at her with wonder. Who knew someone so small could produce a sound so . . . big.

But when he returned to his previous train of thought, the choked up feeling came to him once more. Dead? Was she really? It didn't feel . . . right. No, she couldn't be dead? Who died? Fucking hell . . . If it really was her. He put a hand to his head.

    Fuck.

    Fuck.

    Fuck.

Heidi was probably a wreck. Especially if Altair died. Not that Harley cared about that kid. But . . . Damn, if he did die, those voices of her were probably terrorizing her, taunting . . . Did she believe he was dead, too?

He almost didn't care about Heidi at that moment.

    Fucking hell.

    This was . . .

    Shit.

Maybe he was getting ahead of himself. Taking a deep, calming sigh, he typed up a message in reply, trying not to break his phone.

    Heidi,
    I'm alive.
    Tell me who's dead.
    I need to know.
    Is Kallisti still alive?
    Could you find out?
    Please. Please, Heidi.
    Stay safe.
    - Harley

He looked at the woman once more.

" Would you like a spot of tea, love? " she offered comfortingly, settling an arm around his shoulders, " I think it might do you a bit of good. "

" Y - Yeah . . . " he mumbled in reply, feeling like he was going to cry again.

" That'll do. " she murmured, kissing him on the forehead tenderly, and preparing their tea.

[Mood: Happier, but concerned... ~ OOC: ~ Listening to]

The voice on the other end of the phone came out with familiar sobs. "Zoey! You're... okay? It's Heidi."Oh thank goodness. "Hey, Heidi, I'm okay yeah. Calm down a little, I'm alright, don't worry. I'm being released from Hospital tomorrow. So it's all okay-"
Heidi choked out her next words, cutting Zoey off. "News... nine students dead... afraid you might be..."Ah... That... would explain why she had been so upset and agitated. "...Hey, again, no need to worry. We survived right? You and I survived together. I told you, I'm with you no matter what. That's a promise I intend to keep." Zoey told the girl, trying to ease her emotions and calm her down.
...So nine students were dead. Without a doubt those deaths and that many at that were the work of the deity leading this game. ...So who was it who had died? Anyone she knew? Had Heidi lost anyone? ...It was all just too horrible. The feelings welling up inside bought up the feelings of losing Tyler again, but Zoey held them back, not allowing any sobs to escape through her voice. What was Heidi thinking right now as she sat on the other end of the phone clearly distraught. Zoey took a deep breath and asked the question she wanted to know the most right now. "...How are you doing? Is everything okay?" The concern was evident in her voice. "Is there anything I can do?" Zoey asked genuinely. She didn't know if there was anything she could do or how she'd be able to help, but she wanted to do something so badly. Tomorrow, when she got out, she resolved herself to see Heidi. She'd been wanting to since the accident anyway.

    ~

Soon enough the conversation ended, and Zoey went to sleep, eager to reach tomorrow because it would mean leaving the hospital. At last... she'd be free to be nude in her room and watch porn. She couldn't wait.

It would figure she had gotten herself in a form of trouble too dangerous to get out alone. This helping others part though, would that add extra time to their stay here? If it did he didn't suppose they would mind skipping over it...would they?

They probably would. He sighed, bothered by the thought of both of them having bleeding hearts. Soon their veins will go dry and only he would remain. How bothersome.

Though even if he wanted to retort to that dirty dog comment he didn't get the chance, as the two continued talking. So...Cherno was the name of the boy who kept taking away his chances of conversation right now. He would make sure to note that down and add it to the subject list, even if he was not apart of the game.
What if Cherno was a player though? The odds of that seemed rather high as they all kept being thrown at each other, though he was still only at seven subjects... After this episode more would be sought out.

Resolving to do that kept his mind occupied until the mention of the Industrial Light & Power Corporation. What exactly had she stumbled upon?

Wait, the door was opening. Ah, light. Ah! Bright light. It was blinding, but welcoming. In fact so welcoming who even cared at the strange landscape they were presented with now? The feeling of being more of a passive force here only because he was being strung along but the dog as if he was a toy was still taking hold as well, so until that feeling left he wouldn't have much of a reaction to anything unless it was strong enough to cause one. Though he could at least admire the impressive technology used here.

"And yet again it is your fault for the ruined plans. You're really ruining my schedule," he replied when addressed, his tone lacking the annoyance he felt. It lacked pretty much everything, that is until the next sentence. Then there was embarrassment and maybe a bit of fear. Maybe. "I-I guess I might as well... My name is Elliot Anderson. More importantly though, how do you know this imbecile?"

Then something happened with that Cherno kid which caused him to stumble backwards. As a reflex he threw his hands up, ready to push the other way and have him fall forward rather than on him, if it was needed.

Duncan punched the air in frustration. He then marched over to his pillows and began to flip them and toss them about the room. Ugh! He did nothing of value. Spying was tons of fun. But Duncan got impatient. Quick. His fist were still curled up at his sides as he gazed out his window. Still pearly white, at least it was nice and dark outside. The sun was down, and noticing that made Duncan sigh and relax. He crawled into bed, kicking off only his shoes. Still too irritated and upset to fully disrobe and change into clean pj's. Ugh!

Wait, was he angsting? Damnit! He shook his head and sank deeper into his pillows. He turned on the television after reaching out inthe darkness for the remote on his bedside table. The news. Wonderful. He listened and watched quietly while removing his skully. Nine dead. BAE students? Who'd have thought. While he was busy, tailing the ****** of the year. Someone was preforming rituals. Right under the schools nose. Weirdos. Idiotic weirdos. He humped and switched of the T.V. When darkness enveloped the room again, he was finally able to to cast himself off to sleep.

Softly, she sighed. The touch sent a comfortable warmth through her body and she felt her anxiety lessen. She was happy not to be alone, though she was still greatly distracted by the world colorful around her. Karen had told her this would take time, but to relapse after such a short period...It was discouraging. Luckily, the whistling of the tea kettle broke through her thoughts.

Honestly, she was surprised but grateful to see how comfortable Bernie was getting up and navigating through her dorm. It made her feel more at ease, like they were closer than they probably should have been given the short amount of time they had known each other.

    I really glahd yuu okay,

    She smiled.

As the energetic blonde gathered the cups, Nora pulled out a bin of shortbread cookies she had gotten for the blizzard and set them in the center of the kitchen table with the kettle on top of an oven mit, and honey and sugar.

She sat back down and took a cookie into her mouth, savoring the crunch that came after. There was a comfortable silence between as she let her tea cool. Slowly, she brought her tingling fingers back down to the table and drummed them gently, as if playing an invisible piano.

    Hey, Bernie...?

Eek. How was she supposed to say this? Suddenly not caring about burning her tongue, she brought her cup to her lips and sipped the naturally sweet, deep pink tea, attempting to gather her thoughts. When she was done, she gazed up again.

❝...Have you gotten any strange email lately?

"...Hey, again, no need to worry. We survived right? You and I survived together. I told you, I'm with you no matter what. That's a promise I intend to keep." Zoey told the girl, trying to ease her emotions and calm her down. It felt so calming to hear Zoey's voice, to know at least one person was alive. They survived- together. They were all right. The rest of them had to be all right too. "...How are you doing? Is everything okay?" The concern was evident in her voice. "Is there anything I can do?" Zoey asked genuinely.
Heidi inhaled a sharp deep breath. Her abdomen ached. She winced once more before responding to her friend. "Promise..." she muttered quietly to herself. "I hurt. It hurts bad." Her hand lifted to the incision. The bleeding had stopped, but the shirt was still damp with blood. It stuck to her fingers. "All... alone..." It was true. She was alone. She only prayed Altair would come back soon. Where had he gone. He's not coming back deary. Get over yourself. There was a knock on the door and she redirected her gaze to the wooden boarder. Who was here? She vaguely remembered Casey saying he was on his way back. Heidi didn't know if the door was locked or not. "Zoey. Have to go." She reluctantly said goodbye to the other girl. They would have to see one another very soon, maybe tomorrow when she came back.
Heidi maneuvered herself to stand, but the pain was too overwhelming. She would have to drag herself. She managed to roll over to her stomach and prop herself up on her elbows. Heidi pumped her arms, using what little upper body strength she had to drag her frail body across the floor. Halfway there, the new phone beeped to life. She stopped dragging her body and rested her head on the carpet. Painfully, she lifted the phone up from her side and inspected it. A message from Harley. She breathed a painful sigh of relief.

He was alive. He was alive. He's alive. A tear ran down her cheek, falling onto the screen. She wiped at her face and hastily typed a reply to Harley. She was so happy to see he was okay. The message had to be fast. There was still someone at the door, after all. They bothered her with snide remarks. Clearly, they were not thrilled about Harley's survival.

Heidi put the phone back in the pocket of her pajama pants and began the painful crawl the rest of the way to the door. She stared up at the imposing doorknob. It seemed sigh high up in comparison to her location on the floor. Heidi reached for the knob and missed. She reached again, and propped herself against the wooden surface. Heidi used the knob to stand and pulled the door open. It swung open. She was standing there in the doorway, blood soaked and disheveled, staring helplessly at Casey.

Bernadette blew on the hot liquid inside her cup. She was relieved to have something to occupy her hands. As comfortable as she had been trying to make everything, it was still tense given the situation. She took an unsteady sip then picked up one of the cookies. She loved Shortbread Cookies. There was something so delightful about them. As Bernie nibbled away at one, occasionally dipping it into the tea, Eleanora piped up.

Hey, Bernie...?❞ Eleanora brought her cup to her lips and sipped the naturally sweet, deep pink tea, attempting to gather her thoughts. When she was done, she gazed up again. Bernie cocked an eyebrow and set the cup down. Was their something on her mind? ❝...Have you gotten any strange email lately?

That was an odd thing to ask. Strange emails. Strange emails. Strange... emails... Her eyes lit up, but not in their usual glee. Why would she ask her that? Had Eleanora received something similar? "Um... Ja. Two actually," she paused. Where was this going? She nibbled nervously on her lip. There had been two strange emails. The first, talked about only having 100 days to live and contained a set of rules; the second, stated she now had $100,000 in her account. "Ah... um... Why? Yuu git strahnge e-my-all too?"

Due to being in his room most of the day, It didn't take Nate long to fall sleep after getting off his computer.

As it would turn out, Vergil had decided to skip this day of school. Since he knew that missing this today wouldn't effect his overall missed days, he figured that it would be fine. So, since he did nothing throughout the entire day, going to sleep was especially easy for him.

Casey stood outside of the room for a bit and waited with a big smiled upon his face. He still wondered why Heidi wanted him there but in the end he merely determined it to be something along the lines of missing him or something. Once the sound of the door opened, Casey closed his eyes and grinned "Long time no see Heidi I-...........HOLY SHIT WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU! WHO DID THIS TO YOU?! WE HAVE TO FIX THAT NOW!" Casey suddenly yelled in fright upon noticing the blood escaping from Heidi's body. Quickly Casey ran inside and began to feverishly search for bandages. "ITS GOT TO BE HERE SOMEWHERE! AH HERE IT IS....B-BUT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO THIS...I-I..." Casey began to mutterer as tears began to form. Seeing Heidi like that brought instant fear to him and the teen just panicked as he held the bandages.

"Calm down kid..." said the gruff voice.

Immediately Casey's attention was brought directly over to the old man that had entered the area "G-GRANDUNCLE!" Casey yelled.

"Take a seat and let me fix that wound of yours my dear" the old man said calmly looking over at Heidi.

Casey closed his eyes and grinned, "Long time no see Heidi I-...........HOLY **** WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU! WHO DID THIS TO YOU?! WE HAVE TO FIX THAT NOW!" Casey suddenly yelled in fright upon noticing the blood escaping from Heidi's body. Heidi was startled by his sudden outburst. She almost fell over from it. Quickly Casey ran inside and began to feverishly search for bandages. She stumbled around, moving closer to the bed. Her legs quaked and she almost fell over a few times. It all hurt so desperately bad.

"Calm down kid..." said the gruff voice that was Mr. Marshall. Her brown eyes darted over to the door, watching him enter the room. Heidi stood there dumbfounded. Why was he here? Dread welled up inside her. It's nothing bad. It's nothing bad. It's nothing bad. Do you truly believe that?

Immediately Casey's attention was brought directly over to the old man that had entered the area "G-GRANDUNCLE!" Casey yelled. He seemed to be as shocked by Mr. Marshall's presence as she. She stumbled again, almost falling to the floor.

"Take a seat and let me fix that wound of yours my dear" the old man said calmly looking over at Heidi. Wordlessly, she fell back onto the bed, lying face up. Pain shot throughout her body and she yelped in agony. That's better. The sound of that pain is wonderful.

"Why? What is...going on?" Her head was spinning. The room seemed to be moving in circles. She closed her eyes, trying to get her bearings. Aren't you excited deary? We're excited. Let him tell you the bad news. We are looking forward to it. It's not true. It can't be. Oh, but it is. You know that as well as we do. "Why..." she mumbled softly on the bed. Her hands shakily rolled up the bottom of her shirt, lifting it high enough to reveal the open wound. Mr. Marshall was going to take care of it. She wanted to help, even if it was just a little. It hurts. It all hurts...

Marshal closed his eyes silently as he took the bandages from Casey and head over to Heidi in order to tend to her wounds. "We will be taking you back to get this fixed...Casey....I want you to take a seat" the old man said not even replying to the question that Heidi asked him.

Listening to the man's words, Casey nervously wiped the tears out of his eyes and nodded as he took a seat on a nearby chair. His granduncle always was a cheerful but gruff old man, but now the man was cold and near emotionless. This brought Casey fear and the boy just couldn't do anything else but sit there. Where was Altair? Altair always made things much more pleasant. He desperately wished for Altair to rush in yelling something about how the man was being to grim and that he was being an idiot. This was the perfect time for Altair to burst in and give the man a flying kick to the face or comment about Casey's pink hair, but no matter how much he wished it, it would never come true.

The old man simply used the bandages and tied the girl's body with them. Not a word was ushered as the process took place and the old man merely just did what he had to do. Once the process was done the old man closed his eyes and finished the job. Taking a few steps away from the two teens the man stood before them with his back facing them. "Altair is never coming home again....he broke his promise to me and passed away before me" the old man said. There was no emotion what so ever, no sorrow nor rage, he just stood there and said it. He felt that it was best the two learned about it now before a much worse time.

Of course she had gotten an email. Nora wasn't surprised, though she was concerned. She nodded slowly and finished the rest of her tea in silence, deciding not to push the subject any further, just in case. Maybe they could keep hinting at it and she would come to a conclusion.

As the minutes wore on between them, the brunette couldn't help but to feel a tinge of paranoia rising up in her. If people were dying...What if something happened to Bernie? Her heart ached. It was a familiar feeling. A quick look around confirmed that Bronagh had still not gotten home. This worried her too but was unfortunately out of her control.

Her voice was soft and shy. She was afraid of coming off too strongly, but she was more afraid of something else terrible happening. It would bring her a lot more comfort if Bernie stayed. Since classes are out, would you mind having a sleep over with me? I'm sure my room mate will be okay with it! You can have my bed, and I'll sleep on the floor? I don't mind! You don't have to stay, of course.

Zeep over...? Ja. Danke. Suunds like fun. Yuu don't have to zeep on da floor. We cuud share. I don't mind.

    Good! Wonderful.

And so Nora helped set everything up for bed. She cleared the tea away, took her medication and gave Bernie some pajamas of her own to wear. She left it up to her new friend to decide which way she'd sleep (facing her or the other way around), before relaxing and falling asleep herself.

Harley didn't bother looking at the message when his phone vibrated again. He swore that the woman had put something in his tea. A very strong relaxant. All of his nerves and senses were completely numb and it felt so nice.

He had never been at this much peace in his life. Ever.

The message would read, he knew, that Heidi was glad he was alive ( and vise versa ) and that she would try and look for his cousin. He looked back at the woman. Sigh.

When she saw the tired expression on his face, she gave a soft smile. What a good boy he had grown up into. His mother would be proud. She scowled at the thought of his father, but she digressed. He wasn't the best man, but she was already absolute in her knowing that his son wouldn't become like him.

    She sighed.

" Alright, love, I think it's bed time for you, " she began, rising from her chair in front of the fire, " Come now, I'll help you to your room. Pip pip. "

Harley gave a long sigh and took the hand that she offered. He was much taller than him, but she wasn't as delicate as she looked. As they walked out of the large study and down the several hallways, he leaned on her for support.

It was nice, he had to admit. He felt like not even his own mother would do this for him, and it was great that for once, he didn't have to do everything for himself. He missed it, basically.

She sat him down on his bed and supervised his undressing so that he wouldn't fall over. After tucking him in like a little boy and kissing him on the forehead, she stood at the doorway.

" Goodnight, love. " she said gently, and then closed the door, leaving him to sleepy darkness.

" Goodnight, Auntie Lilith. " he said sleepily, dozing off.

Though Isabella never felt the need to vomit for the rest of the day, the nausea never truly went away. Was she coming down with the flu? She had never caught it, but she had the symptoms more than enough times. She hoped that it was just something that she ate upsetting her stomach and that she would be fine in the morning.

Upon getting on the monorail Elliot found himself surprisingly tired. Just how long had they been here? Without even giving it much more thought he found a spot to sit, leaning against towards the window before falling asleep on the spot.

"We will be taking you back to get this fixed...Casey....I want you to take a seat" the old man said not even replying to the question that Heidi asked him. She noticed that. They did too. They smirked, began to giggle. This was fun for them. They were enjoying her misery. Heidi watched as Casey sat down and Mr. Marshall tended to her open wound. Spinning. Spinning. Everything was spinning. She closed her eyes to try and get her bearings. Why was he here? What was going on? Quit trying to protect yourself. You know why he's here. I don't know what you're talking about.

When he finished getting her bandaged up, Mr. Marshall continued. Taking a few steps away from the two teens the man stood before them with his back facing them. "Altair is never coming home again....he broke his promise to me and passed away before me" the old man said. There was no emotion what so ever, no sorrow nor rage, he just stood there and said it. Her world began to crash down on her. Heidi propped herself up on her elbows, eyes wide with horror and disbelief. It wasn't true. He was lying. It was a lie. It wasn't true. Her petite body began to shake in the spot on her bed. Tears dripped down off her chin as they flowed heavily down her face. It wasn't true. He can't be. He can't be dead. He promised. He made a promise.

Her eyes locked on the door, waiting. Waiting... Waiting... Her expression was vacant, lifeless. She couldn't breathe. Everything hurt. She was shaking. Where was he? Any minute now. Any minute he would walk through the door. He would come back. It was a lie. He promised. He would come back to her. "No. No! NO!" Fingers wrapped tightly in her hair as she fell back on the bed. The pain in her torso was ignored. Locks of hair were ripped from her head. He couldn't be. There was no way. It was a lie. Where are you?! Where are you?! He's not coming back. YES HE IS. HE PROMISED. HE SAID... He's not coming back deary. You need to move on. Altair is dead. He won't come back for you. Not this time. Not ever again. no... he'll... he'll come ba- NO HE WON'T.

"No. Lie. He promised. He's not... HE'S NOT." She began shaking harder, convulsing. Her chocolate brown eyes rolled into the back of her head, revealing the whites of her eyes. Heidi's body began seizing up. It was a lie. It had to be. There you go deary. Just give in to it. She lost all consciousness as the seizure took over. Blood stained her freshly bandaged body. The shaking tore at the incision once more. At this rate, it would never heal. Her body continued to convulse for a few more minutes before it finally slowed to a stop, leaving her relatively lifeless, aside from the slow shallow breaths.

Bernadette graciously accepted the offer to stay. Eleanora had said no more on the matter of the email. Was something bothering her? She accepted the pajamas, and hurried off to the bathroom to change quickly. It took a little longer than she hoped, give all that she had on. Once out of her clothes and into the provided pajamas, she returned to the bedroom. They would share a bed. That was a pleasant thought, now if only they could cuddle. Bernie decided not to say anything on that. She didn't want to push her luck with the her new friend. Glancing around, she noticed that Eleanora's roommate still hadn't returned. Again, she wondered whom it might be. Crawling into bed after her, she decided to curl up facing the opposite direction and went to sleep.

"DON'T YOU DARE LIE TO ME" Casey immediately yelled upon hearing the words ushered by the man. Rage, sorrow, and all forms of emotions overwhelmed the teen as he rose to his feet and ran to the giant old man. Tears rushed down his face as he gripped the old man's shirt with a tight grip "DON'T LIE, ALTAIR CANT DIE, HE WOULD NEVER LEAVE US, NEVER! I'LL KILL YOU IF YOUR LYING TO ME" Casey yelled in anguish as he lowered his head "say something....SAY SOMETHING YOU DAMN OLD MAN! TELL ME THIS IS SOME SICK JOKE, TELL ME ALTAIR WILL BE RUSHING IN WITHOUT A CARE IN THE FUCKING WORLD" Casey yelled looking up at the old man's cold face. There was nothing but silence, and Casey knew...this was reality. Letting go of the old man he rushed out and ran, he didn't know where he was going but he just ran.

Marina was gone and now Altair was too. The two people that he cared for, his dear friend and the guy who was like a precious brother, they were out of his life and abandoned him. Ever since his birth he got everything he wanted, toys, money, love, but the thing he always desired and treated with the greatest love was his connection to his friends and family. He couldn't believe they were dead and despite all the obvious signs, his being refused to believe it. He chose to reject the harsh reality of the world and live in ignorance...but his mind could only hold so much.

He found himself outside and immediately as the cold winds blew against him, fatigue reached him. Falling to his knees, Casey began to cough and hold his stomach. His gastric juices rose up his throat and his eyes began to burn with tears. Pain from all over assaulted the teen both psychically and mentally. He wanted it to end, he wanted to wake up and get a fortune from Marina or duke it out with Altair. He just wanted everything to return back to the way things were. His mind and body reaching the breaking point, Casey soon collapsed fully on the ground and fell unconscious. Casey would soon be scooped up by the father that had been searching for his child that had run off. With that the man took his son to the room they were staying at and placed the boy away to sleep.

There was nothing the old man could say to the boy or the girl he called his granddaughter. The thud of the girl's body hitting the ground reached his ears and the man glanced over at the girl. Picking up the girl's body, the old man immediately rushed out of Altair's room. The trip was as fast as could be and by the time he reached the hospital, Heidi was taken in and taken care of by the doctors. Soon enough after her well being was taken care of, the old man entered the room that she slept unconscious in. Silently the old man took a seat by the side of her bed and sat beside the girl. Closing his eyes the man held her hand gently. Tears that had never fallen for years suddenly began to run down the old man's face as he sat with his granddaughter. "Please...please don't die...." The old man said tearfully. He knew that the girl would not die now, but the man that had lost almost everything still pleaded that the final person that kept him alive would manage to outlive him and live a long life. Throughout the night he sat by his granddaughter's bedside and waited for her awakening.

    "oh my gosh..."
ooc: let's all play a little game where Bronagh fell asleep after midnight
    x
They still had him in handcuffs at South Gate before they were going to send him into HQ for questioning. It was clear that he was NOT having a good time. Some of the cops were whispering amongst one another saying that he dressed oddly for a young man and just appearance alone was enough to criminalize him.
    x
For god's sake he's 18 and dresses in black ooo sketchy you need to learn to do your job right.
    x
Bronagh was rolled up to a desk where the usual secretary was replaced with a security guard. Bronagh sighed, they were already in mid-conversation. "Please, he's not the brightest and is into odd things but he's not into any worship of... Satan."
    x
The guard coughed before saying, "He was caught without a visitor pass just after a mass-murder, we can't trust your word maam. I am sorry."
Bronagh pulled out her phone and held it out to them, "If it is anything... the time stamp on this text might help. He texted me before he drove over as soon as word got around."
"How would the word have gotten to him? He is not a student and this case had not been released to the public yet."
"Look, I know him... he wouldn't... please."
    x
After a bunch of stirring he asked her to wait. Jessie had already left at this point and Bronagh waited alone. She did not have her phone, the police still had it, and she closed her eyes almost falling asleep before she heard a noise.
    x
She looked up to see Shadow still in handcuffs.
    x
Bronagh sat up straight before he walked over to her and sat in a chair next to her saying, "They told me 'don't leave that girl out there waiting, we'll give you until we figure something out or until the morning'." he turned his head and whispered, "Run and we will not hesitate to stop you for the safety of everyone."
"Shadow running doesn't get you anywhere."
"It gets me in extreme trouble for something I did not do. 9 kids, I couldn't think about the death of 1 let alone 9."
    x
Bronagh closed her eyes as her thought came into word, "What did we do wrong..."
Shadow raised an eyebrow, "What? we never went wr-"
"What did we do to justify the death of 9 children."
    "Bronagh?"
Bronagh grabbed Shadow and spoke softly yet full of pain, "9 kids are dead and there is something not right about it I get this feeling in my gut it had something to do wit-"
Bronagh cut herself off before turning her head away from him.
    "Do with what?"
Bronagh's eyes felt heavy as she closed her eyes and leaned on his shoulder.
"Nothing... you wouldn't understand..." she replied as she fell asleep.

    DAY 43

    January 11th, Friday

Duncan's phone rang out in the night. Like a baby crying for it's mother it cried to him. He reached out to the small device and slide his thumb across the damn screen. Irritated that it was his mother's ringtone, and not his alarm, so he'd wake before his prey did. What in the hell did she want?! "Whaaaaaat?!" He whined childishly into the phone.

"Your school is in shambles Dunny-poo! Come home right now!" The shrill voice drilled into his sleepy skull and pulled him out of his sleeping stupor.

"No, God! I have things to do here. Education and friends and social life and blah blah." He lied through his teeth, not yet knowing school was canceled.

"School's canceled, so cut that crap. Get dressed, baby, we're worried about you. No more arguing!" Her voice was lowering in it's tone, to indicate her seriousness.

"But mooooooom. The snow is like fifty feet out there! Jeeze. It's too deep to get home." He sighed in relief that that weird blizzard had come through town. It was his ticket to staying here and away from those lunatics at home.

Suddenly, a horn began to blast through the chill winter air. Again and again, cutting the air for seconds on end. It slapped the smirk off his face. "I'm already outside, Dunny-poo." He could hear the smirk on her lips, the one she stole right from his own. Duncan mashed the end button on the touch screen, angrily getting dressed for the day.

"It was because of the new anti pyschotic medication she insisted on taking. It has a high risk of seizures," said Doctor Myers to the older white-haired gentlemen at Heidi's bedside. "No one has ever heard of it causing a reaction that quickly, though. I can only assume it was from the high level of anxiety she was feeling. The chemicals in her brain were all over the place."

    "Will she be all right?"

"We've repaired the damage to her incision and flushed the drug from her system. She should be fine. It's just a matter of her waking up." Doctor Myers looked weary. There was a crease in his brow and his shoulders drooped. Something was off with him to cause such a dramatic shift in a short period of time. "We've also contacted her psychiatrist at City Central in Coy. He'll be on his way out here shortly. Right now, it's just a matter of waiting for her to wake."

As if on cue, Heidi's eyelids slowly fluttered open and the bright light of the white room filled her vision. She blinked back the sleepiness a few times before registering that something was amiss. She was back in the hospital. Her appendages had not been restrained like usual. What was wrong? Don't say you forgot already? What...what are you talking about? Oh deary, you're hopeless. A gruesome image of shrieking and convulsing flashed before her eyes. The feel of the warm blood continuously pooling out at her side, the hot tears burning her cheeks and eyes, her body feeling relatively numb. Numb. It felt numb now. Her head rolled to the side. They had probably given her some sort of painkiller to relieve her of the excruciating nightmare, to which she caused. What happened? You had a seizure. After you found out Altair died. What? What are you-- The rest of the vision came into play- the event leading up to the shock. Her eyes began to well up. Tears stung her thin rosy cheeks once more.

That's right deary. We knew you hadn't actually forgotten. He's dead, just like we told you he would be. It's... it's not possible. It is. Why else would that man have come to tell you? Do you really believe him cruel enough to play such a horrible joke? Even we find that to be in bad taste. No... you're... you're right... He wouldn't. Mr. Marshall is a kind man. So was... so was... We know. Sadly, we know. But, he couldn't have been that kind. He did go and break the promise. He's gone. It's just us now deary. You will have to accept that. Let us heal the pain for you. ...no... You know you want us too. It would be so easy. Just let it happen. They chided her eagerly. They were looking for any opportunity to escape-- to wreak havoc among the innocent. It wasn't fair, not to anyone.

Heidi's head rolled back the other way, looking at the man by her bedside. He must have brought her here. She didn't say a word to Mr. Marshall. She couldn't bring herself to say anything. Heidi stared at him longingly, noticing all the slight resemblences to he and his grandson. Altair... please come back. Please. She begged silently. She missed him so much already. Was he mad at her before he died? Tears rolled silently down her cheeks and she sniffled. It hurt. The pain from her injuries paled in comparison to the ache in her chest. Why did she feel like this? She had never hurt so deeply before. It was similar to when he disappeared, but this time was much worse.

A surge of relief hit the old man as he stared over at Heidi as she awoke from her slumber. Despite this he found no joy or nor happiness. Heidi was in pain and he found it difficult to relieve the pain. All the old man could really do was stared back at the girl silently trying to think of what to say next. When the thought of something important reached his mind, the old man just had to ask it. "Heidi...you don't have to say anything...but I want to ask you a question...tell me....who is Crestatia?" the old man said.
