When she woke, her roommate was gone. It wasn't uncommon. They typically didn't wake to the sight of one another. One was usually up and out the door before the other. However, she did hear the news about the nine dead students and had a sinking feeling. One person from that dorm room already died, maybe it was cursed or something. She had received a message saying classes were canceled, no doubt because of the trauma. Bernadette decided to use that time to visit Eleanora, hopefully she wouldn't mind. There was a message on her voice mail from Caden. He wanted her to work with him later. After yesterday, she really didn't want to go back; but she needed to. He had to teach her.

Bernie wanted to see the horses, maybe Eleanora would like to come with her. She knocked on the door and waited. She was excited to see her cute little friend. Spending time with someone that actually wanted her there would be nice. "El-uh-nor-ah? Are yuu here?" she asked from the hallway. Bernie pictured herself on the white Arabian with her friend. Had Eleanora ever gone riding before? She looked down at her outfit. If they did go, she would have to change. There was no way she could get on a horse or even in the stables dressed like this.

After a while she had stopped playing the piano. A couple of kids at this point were here and practicing, she didn't want to be annoying while their practice was a bit more important. Bronagh rolled up towardsthe back of the hall still waiting, Maybe she is still asleep? I could come back later.​

Bronagh heard her phone ring, it was Shadow's ringtone. In case she had to shout in the phone, she rolled outside and answered it.​

"He dropped it while I was chasing him and I was trying to get it back to him. But he just got arrested!"

"They think he has something to do with the 9 dead kids. He's not a student and he doesn't have a pass, he's 18 too. They find it suspicious. I tried to tell them but they wouldn't listen to me... maybe they will listen to you? I seriously doubt he-"

Bronagh put the phone down and sighed, annoyed obviously. She watched a couple of this kids walking by, people were still uneasy about everything.​

Bronagh leaned her head back against her chair whispering to herself, "Damn it Shadow, you do not do well around police. Why didn't you get a guest pass I am fairly certain they would have allowed it..."​

Heidi remained stationed on the floor. The bleeding had stopped, but not before ruining her shirt and pajama pants. There was also a significantly large dark stain on the carpet. Her fingers were stiff, her head was pounding, and the incision on her torso was painful. She didn't want to go back to the doctor. Vacant eyes lowered to the screen of her new phone. There was a message from Casey. That was a good sign. Casey is alive. There are still the others deary. He is only one person. The rest of them are fine. We don't think so. Quit fooling yourself. You know they aren't alive. Shakily, she opened the message from Casey.

He was getting food. She hadn't seen Casey in awhile. Why would you want to see him anyway. He looks ridiculous. I like Casey. Do you like him like you like Altair and Harley? N-no... How do you feel about them? I... I don't know what you're talking about. Sure you don't. They said in a sarcastic tone. She truly didn't understand, but she did want to see Casey; to prove he truly was alive.

She needed to get up- to move-, but it hurt too much. Heidi still didn't fully know how to work these phones, but she did her best to try and find the number to the hospital. She needed to know Zoey was okay. She needed to know everyone was okay. I'm a failure. I've done nothing to help anyone. They have only helped me. We told you not to bother with these people. You didn't listen. Now you're lying here in pain, wondering if they are alive. It's a waste of our time.

"H-hello..." she said into the receiver of the phone. The room was spinning. Heidi closed her eyes. A receptionist picked up on the other end of the line and asked how she could help. "C-could I... put through to Zoey Quill's room? Please."

"One moment."

There was ringing on the line. That was a good sign. If Zoey was one of the people that died, they probably would have said something, unless they were transferring her to Zoey's doctor. She sniffled and swallowed back a lump in her throat. Everything was so painful, but they recommended not taking any form of painkillers with the medication. Do it. Let's see what happens. There's some in the bathroom, right? Get up. Get up and go take some.

So Zoey had been bored waiting and waiting. She was going to finally be discharged tomorrow with a number of painkillers to aid her during the next few days, but ultimately she was doing better than she had been. She'd finally gotten news about Heidi from the Nurse who had promised to help her. Heidi was thankfully alive, which had flooded Zoey with relief, and in fact she'd also been discharged. That was very good news. It meant Heidi was doing alright for the most part. Zoey just lay there for now in the bed, itching to get out and be active but knowing her Doctor would never approve. She had no comforts here in this room. Her mobile phone was long gone, she had no iPod with her, nothing. She couldn't even watch porn out of sheer boredom, not that she would in the hospital (Her Doctor DEFINITELY would not approve), but that was still a valid point.
...She was gonna go crazy here. What was she meant to do? She'd had no visitors at all, but who was going to visit her anyway? Her only friends were Matt and Heidi really, her Mother couldn't and... yeah.
She wanted to distract herself. She didn't want to keep thinking about the past and Tyler. She'd grieved, and she probably always would on the inside, but she didn't want to keep hurting. She hadn't gotten to know him that well, but from what she did know, Tyler wouldn't have wanted her to keep feeling like this. At least, she believed that. ...Those dreams she had had back at the accident, they were probably coincidence because her mind had been on him but... they'd helped her. They'd somehow kept her going like he had been watching over her. Even though they were just dreams, she still held them dearly to her heart. It was odd... but it was comforting at the same time.
...From nowhere, Zoey jumped as a loud beeping echoed around her room. ...It wasn't coming from any of the equipment, thank god. She looked over the side and noticed the phone in her bed. ...She'd never noticed it before now. She picked it up and put it to her ear... Who would be calling her? Why would anyone call her?
"Hello?" she spoke, curiosity evident in her voice.

By the time Eleanora found the will to turn around and pull the blankets from her body, Bronagh was already gone and there was a knock on her door. Thinking that maybe her dorm mate had forgotten her key, she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and delicately slipped into her house shoes. Her mind wandered as she walked past the second bed and small kitchen area, but when she opened the door and caught site of Bernie the thoughts melted away. She smiled, but the smile faded as their eyes met contact.

Something was wrong. There was a knot in her throat and a nervousness in her stomach. What was it? Was she being paranoid? She had about another thirty minutes or so before class was about to start...Why was Bernie here?

Brown hair tickled her cheeks as she shook her head and took a deep breath. Her fingertips tingled and suddenly she was embarrassed to still be in her pajamas.

Clark the **** was still in there. What the in the hell could he be doing for such a long period of time? Duncan put his elbow on his knee and his palm under his chin as he frowned in thought. Sneaking in her quietly was no problem. But sharing a restroom and sitting a stall away from Clark was getting boring and boring things got unbearable fast. He bit his cheek quietly as he resisted the urge to huff. He couldn't reveal that someone was in here with him. Especially if this was the opportunity that he was waiting on. In a few minutes he would check again to see if his subject was truly taking a dump. He kept hearing rustling sounds. So he couldn't be rustling he turd for such a long time. Duncan checked his watch, it was nearing an hour when he peered over their shared wall and locked onto his target.

White powder. A slightly white mustache on Clark's pale, crusty upper lip. An this was a clear addiction, judging from the way he was going at that paper. Why did it take him an hour to do such a thing. Was he charging up for one big energy crack shot? He snorted, this unfortunately was not enough to get his revenge and even up their score. His Gothic clique didn't care about drug habits, and Clark's parents were nobodies in this town. This time Duncan did huff as he left, making as much noise as possible before setting up his next perch to quietly spy on his dumb ex best friend.

Heidi waited for the sound of a voice on the other end of the line. When the ringing finally stopped and Zoey's voice came through the receiver, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Hello?"

"Zoey!" Her voice was hoarse and the red head's name was choked out between sobs. She hadn't stopped crying since they moment they returned. What a shame. It would appear there is one more alive. Why are you bothering with this? It's better for it to just be us. "You're... okay?" Heidi bit down on her lower lip to the point of drawing blood. It stung and the metallic taste reached her tongue. "It's Heidi." Oh come now deary. Who else would it be? Who else would sound so pathetic and distraught calling this girl right now? Just hang up. No. I need... I need to talk to Zoey. She swallowed back a lump in her chest and took a deep breath. Heidi winced in pain.

Why did it all have to hurt so bad? Because you're an incompetent child. You thought you could successfully go to see that woman and silence us all on your own. Hah! "News... nine students dead... afraid you might be..." She couldn't finish. She was just so glad to know that at least one more person was safe. Heidi sniffled. She was happy, but still so scared. Of course you're scared. You're afraid of everything. Just grow up. Get off the floor and let's see what happens when you take those pain killers.

The sidewalks were clear and it made the teen's journey back to the academy quite easy. As he ran ahead the sudden vibration of his phone caught his attention and Casey immediately began to read the text he received from Heidi. From the text he immediately began to wonder where Altair must have been, but immediately he disregarded that thought and shook his head "Tarry is probably off doing his thing" Casey said with a grin as he approached the academy. As he began to walk in he noticed policemen around the nearby area and realized something was up. Disregarding this occurrence for the time being, Casey rushed over to where Altair's room was and began to knock on the door.

Bernadette sighed in relief when the door opened. Eleanora was here. She smiled sweetly at the sight of the brunette. How cute was it that she was still in her pajamas. She almost couldn't control the desire to hug and squeeze her. She was too damn adorable for her own good. ❝Good morning, Bernie. Is everything alright?❞ Suddenly, she didn't feel so excited anymore. Eleanora looked like she just woke up. She hadn't heard the news, had she? Her gleeful smile contorted into one of misery. Bernie didn't know how she should be feeling at the moment.

She cleared her throat nervously before gesturing to the room behind the other girl. "M-may E...I?" Caden's incessant badgering had stuck in her head, at least for a day. Talking out in the hall didn't seem too safe, given the situation. She felt uncomfortable. Bernie rubbed the toe of her right heel against the back of her left calve. She went to fix her hair, only to find that everything was currently in place. No locks had gone astray. Ich hoffe, sie hat nichts dagegen, mich hier zu sein.

Cherno awoke with a start. The crackling of the static had grown softer.
The passage was still dark, but the choking sensation was out. Right, right-- quickly. Before anything else happened. He rose, stepping down his feet onto the solid metal catwalk to get some further feeling. At the very end of the dark passage was the warm glow of a red light. Red light! Red-- red light?

He tried to move forward but-- ack, he almost tripped over the sleeping body of the other boy. Goddamnit.

Cherno knelt down and grasped the sleeping boy's shoulders. Why did he have to follow him? He tried shaking him awake, gently at first, then rough--

He-- he felt as if there-- there was-- what-- there was another something-- he just-- was it because of this place? He widened his eyes. It was like a bolt of lightning had fried his synapses briefly, and his eyes were dull and widened as he stared down at his hands.

... No time. Just awake the damn kid. Cherno grimaced and delicately held the boy's head in his hand. And with a resounding sigh, he let forward a slap.

Something kicked his side, causing the boy to stir. At that moment it didn't feel like he was in some strange place but back home on the examination table. He even awaited his mother's voice to tell him it was another failed attempt. However instead a male's voice was heard.

He was shaken, violently so. What was the problem with this guy? Elliot almost shouted "I'm awake, so stop you buffoon!" but found himself to dizzy to do so. Only after the stranger stopped and a moment passed, in which the dizziness subsided, did the ability to speak return.

He was up. He was up!

Cherno found himself staring into those cold eyes again, even in the darkness. But there was little time for chitter-chatter right now. The red light seemed like they called to them.

"Ass-bulb means you, you unswaggered buffoon." Cherno lifted himself off of the boy with a careless clumsiness, almost falling back onto his bottom in the darkness. He held his arms out and straightened his body. What was the kid's problem? What if he was dead from the stuff in the air? No-- no more death-- please. He slowly turned back to the boy.
"You could have died in the time you were off dozing!"
Cherno felt nauseous.
He began walking over to the source of the light.

The metal echoed his footfalls, but it was still a bit too dark to tell much of anything else. Static churned through the walls, as if they were coming from somewhere not in the passageway. The red light blinked to a set frequency. What was it? Was it-- well, could it be their ticket out of here?

Ahahaha.

Gah.
Why did this place even exist? In the time he had been stuck in that small compartment of a room back before the crazy boy tumbled into his life, he found out that the airship's teleportation would not even work. Could it be that these structures were thick enough to the point that the waves could not penetrate them? Fuck. This was a terrible day. Was it even still day?

What was that? ... Ugh. It must be his head. Right. Just his head. Hahaha. This place was pretty dark, and Cherno tried his best to hide the subtle shaking of his body. Why did it have to be so dark? But the red beacon shone like a point of hope through this.

He walked over to it and looked closely.

He turned to the boy.

"Yo, uh--" Be diplomatic, Cherno, even if he unsettles you. "We've got to get through this little hootenanny mabob together. You've got anything on you that can help us take apart this lock here?"

Watching the other almost stumble tempted Elliot to push the boy. It seemed as if it would take nothing more than a light tap so see his face greet the floor. However as much as he disliked the human race he was not so inclined to bring them harm. Not mere strangers anyway, even rude ones. Not unless they crossed the line. So the temptation was ignored and he simply got to his feet.

He then shrugged at the dying comment, not feeling like this guy deserved a reply. He was still much too bothered by the lack of light in this place to really think of one anyway. Though once the red light was noticed he was able to focus all of his attention on it and thanks to that he was able to avoid fainting again.

Then the guy spoke again. In such a strange manner still. All of these untechnical terms were beginning to bother Elliot and yet he still complied to them enough to start looking through his pockets. If it helped them get out of here might as well after all.

Within seconds he found a scalpel in the pocket of his jeans. He held a few other items but this seemed the most useful for the situation but...wouldn't it get dirty? If so he would not be able to use it in an instant due to the fact it would have to be cleaned and the thought was unsettling.

"I-I..." he paused. No he could never do this himself. It was too disgraceful. So it was handed over instead and he forced himself to look away. This physically hurt. "That might do the trick."

A scalpel.

Cherno glanced at the small knife, then back at the boy, then back at the knife. His face scrunched up. Who in the name of the Riemann hypothesis carried a fucking scalpel in their pockets. Was this guy a surgeon or just one of Brookridge's crazy biology students?

Ugh.
Make do with what we had, right.
With a suspicious glance, Cherno picked up the small scalpel with the tips of his fingers, allowing it to dangle precariously in the darkness. He held a hand beneath it and brought it towards the small panel and the red light.

Okay.
Cherno breathed in deeply. The air smelled of rancid gasoline and was metallic, as if it were canned. Ugh. He suppressed a cough as he inserted the tip of the scalpel into the small keyhole on the panel. This was so fucking unrealistic. How in the world could he break open a lock with a scalpel?

Her eyebrows knitted in concentration as she struggled to digest what Bernie was trying to say. When she was through gathering her thoughts, her pink face went pale and she stood there frozen. The entire atmosphere shifted and spun around her, and a familiar chorus of hushed voices reverberated in her skull. No one else could hear them, she remembered, and their words were never clear. Before she knew she was crazy, she referred to the voices as ambiance of the spirit world. They were once constant background noise to all that she did.

People were dead. Who? Did this have to do with CRESTATIA? ​

She stepped back into her room and allowed Bernadette inside with an apology. Her toes pressed into the warmth of her shoes as she dragged herself into the kitchen to make two cups of tea. Whether Bernie accepted or not was her choice, but it would be rude not to offer her anything.​

With the stove on and the kettle waiting, Eleanora maneuvered back around to the small kitchen area and sat down, offering Bernie a seat as well.​

Truth be told, she was struggling with what to say. She was concerned and frightened and...curious as to how the nine had perished. Her heart beat quickened and her head ached. Nine dead. That was a lot. Had she known any of them? Yes, death was sad. Death was painful--and eternal--andreal. ​

❝I'm sorry to hear that...about the students.❞ ​

There was a genuine tinge of disappointment in her soft voice, but her face didn't reflect it. Instead, wide blue eyes locked onto Bernadette to observe the beautiful turquoise glow surrounding her. Another thing everyone she had ever known was oblivious to. How lonely. The tips of her fingers flooded with warmth as she struggled to stay oblivious to the bright, dancing world around her. ​

She bit her tongue as the tea kettle whistled. ​

Nate had spent most of his morning on his computer checking out a few things. he would've goon to class sooner, but they were cancelled. The part about class being cancel didn't bother him in the slightest, what did worry him though was the possible reason. If someone with a weapon had gotten into school, then there was some sort of protocol for that sort of thing. Maybe this is Crestatia's doing. As quickly as he started thinking about it, Nate pushed it to the back of his head and went back to his computer.

Given the fact he was no longer looking at the other Elliot missed the glances at him though would not be surprised upon learning of them. Everyone always freaked over the idea he carried such a thing around but it mattered little. Why care for the opinion of apes? Rotting ones at that.

Ah. His attention was drawn back to the boy - he really ought to ask for a name - as he was beckoned over. Progress had been made by the looks of things and thus he was hopeful of them getting out of here sometime soon. Though after a closer inspection it turned out to just be an intercom and not a way to open a new or the last passage. Hardly any use without someone on the other end of it so that was short lived hoped, almost.

Almost because soon after the deceive had been turned on he heard a familiar voice, the voice of that girl who had got him trapped in here with this brusque boy. And with it he had totally miss the other getting shocked. Not like he would have cared anyway.

"It's not a pleasure to be here. Why did you e-even led me here in the first place?"

A sudden feeling of nausea woke Isabella. She rushed onto her feet and into the bathroom, hoping she would make it to the toilet. She hacked up small bits of bile, the remains her last meal already digested. When she had a brief reprieve, she gazed at her face in the mirror. Nothing indicated that she was sick, so why did she feel so? Perhaps she should take the day off from classes, in case the nausea returned.​

Her thoughts were later answered. She received two texts on her phone. The first announcing that murder had occurred in the area, the other telling her that classes were cancelled. The murdered was a teen; had it occurred at the school? Another day she had woken up with no roommate. Had her thoughts the previous night been valid? Or was she just being paranoid?​

Bernadette followed Eleanora into the room and smiled at the coziness it had. She looked around, noticing that like her own roommate, Eleanora's was not present. Bernie took a seat at the small dining table and waited as the other girl began to prep water for tea. She wasn't really a fan of the hot drink, but found it impolite to refuse. The blond reached across the table and placed a warm gentle hand on Eleanora's wrist. She seemed rather distressed. ❝I'm sorry to hear that...about the students.❞ She nodded her head, agreeing.

It was a shame. That was a lot of students to lose. Sadly, Bernadette prayed she didn't know any of them. There weren't many people she had met in her short time in the States, and would rather not lose those few. Macht mich eine schreckliche Person? ❝I-I-'m glad you're alright, though.❞ She nodded again and gave the other a reassuring smile and a gentle squeeze of the hand.

"Ja. Me too." The tea kettle whistled and she released her friend. "Yuu need help?" She stood, a little too quickly, and made her way over to the stove. Bernie turned off the burner and dug around through the cupboards for the cups. "I really glahd yuu okay," she said softly into the cupboard and brought out two cups, one for each of them.

That light, airy giggling seemed to be lead weights upon his ears, as if he had heard it hundreds of times before. And again, he was at its receiving end. Why did this girl need saving? And why did she seem so very ... passive-aggressive?
No questions right now, Cherno. Get your behind through that door.

Without a further word, he walked forward and opened the door. Light poured into the small passageway, like a wash of bright cloud. For a moment, Cherno averted his eyes, before slowly gazing out at the expansive space behind the door.

It was almost like a city. Almost.
The sky was a bright crimson, as if the sunset had slashed the throat of the clouds themselves. The golden cotton puffs seemed to drift lazily far up above Cherno's head, and yet, he seemed to be standing on an elevated metal platform up in the air. He stepped forward, into this strange cityscape, and turned back on the passageway.
It was just a door. Just a door, opening into nothing.

... What-- what kind of crazy place was this?

From Cherno's elevated position, he had a wonderful view of the cityscape before him. Giant black monoliths sprouted like rocks and trees, blue-veined with electrical pulses and cables, scattered in a sea and sheltered by the red sky. Long, solid steel cables criss-crossed between these structures, creating an enormous web or net that seemed to hold these "buildings" in place.

And yet, they weren't buildings. No windows, or entrances, or any evidence of habitation. They were more like giant, multi-shaped blocks. Like enormous computer servers, built to mirror all kinds of modernist skyscrapers.

The air hummed with a low buzz, almost like a lawn mower, or a beehive off in the distance, and the smell of oil danced through Cherno's nose. There was no wind -- not a trace. But it really did look like they were outside.

"You said that we were underground," Cherno asked.

The Industrial Light & Power Corporation has some amazingly advanced technology.​

Like what you see before you? Ahahaha! All constructs, all computers ... blech, the work of philistines or International Modernism architects, both the same.​

This broad was out of it. He just prayed that all of this would actually make sense. Then again, considering all of the e-mail shenanigans, Cherno could honestly believe anything by now.
