Bronagh was surprised that she bothered to answer it after it being a clearly odd question, but she did admire that her last wish was for her brother. If she had a sibling to take care of, that probably would have been a similar answer Bronagh would have given.
She almost asked who her brother was, but Elizabeth left before she got the chance to. When she had left she had waved at her but hadn't really said a word at all. Bronagh got quiet and thought about going into the room and getting her phone, but had a feeling if she went back to the room she'd be stuck in there for the rest of the day.
Bronagh opened up the little notebook and turned to the page of names and put her marker meaning "Alive" next to Elizabeth, which happened to be the only Elizabeth she had on that list, meaning this was Elizabeth Evans. There was another person with the last name Evans on her list but she didn't want to assume anything.
Bronagh took a deep breath then turned to a new page and started writing small little details about the room down. Her legs were starting to bug her a bit.

It didn't take him long to reach the hospital. Taking the phone out of his pocket, he looked at it and thought. I can do this. Over and over again before turning the phone off. The first thing he did as he entered was head to the help desk. "Excuse me miss. Do you know where someone in a recent helicopter crash would be at?"

"Let's see, there an open group on the second floor. I would check there first." The lady suggested.

"Thanks." With that done, Nate made his way to the elevator. Once in, he pressed the second floor button and waited. When the usual ding ran and the door opened, he proceeded to look for the open group. While he was doing this, he also kept an eye out for anyone who stuck out.

xxxxxxxxxxHarley lead her away from the ice rink so that they could begin their shopping, but Heidi continued to glance back at it over her shoulder. She kept looking until the large indoor rink began to shrink from view and they came in front of a store labeled Hallmark in cursive golden letters. Her eyes sparkled like the twinkle lights in the store window and they walked inside. A friendly sales clerk greeted Harley and seemed awfully keen on assisting him, until she saw Heidi. Her cheerful appearance seemed to disappear instantly and she left without another word. Had she done something wrong? Heidi watched her before shrugging it off.

xxxxxShe detached herself from Harley, but stayed close. The store was filled with so many wonderful things to see. There were lots of quirky signs and fancy picture frames. Glass cases rested against the walls with precious moments figurines. Soft Christmas music filled the room and even though there were far too many people, she did not mind. This was fun, exciting even. The store seemed to have a warm glow about it, probably from all the decorative lights. She pulled the mittens off her hands and stuffed them in one of the pockets.

xxxxxHeidi glanced over at Harley. He seemed to be preoccupied with something so she didn't bother him. Her fingers trailed delicately over the edges of the cases while she looked for gift ideas. Altair. Harley. Casey. Anthony. Maybe Zoey too? It seemed like a nice thing to do. She did just get done spending a couple days in the girl's body, but Heidi had no idea what she would like. They had hardly even spoken to each other during that time. She stopped at a small case towards the back. A dark cherry wood jewelry box sat inside with a maroon velvet interior. There were floral carvings around the sides and a little music box dial sticking out the back.
xxxxxHeidi pulled the envelope shaped package out from within her coat and finally opened it. Her finger slipped under the crevice, tearing apart the top. Her thin small fingers reached inside pulling out a stack of bills. Her eyes widened and she quickly shoved them back inside. What?! There was far more in there then ever expected. "See anything you like?" The sound of Harley's voice caused her to jump and almost drop the package. She held it tightly to her chest and glanced up at him a bit flustered.

xxxxx"Y-yeah." Heidi directed her pointer finger at the jewelry box inside of the display. "I would like to get that for Zoey, after being stuck inside her and stuff."

burnt mansion : : chorus of the roncesvalles

Ah--
Olivia's scintillating blue eyes opened to the dreary world of the mansion. It was dark, here in the basement. The bulb was still out, but--
Oh. She felt lighter. Lighter? Did she perhaps get her body back? Olivia lifted her hand, slowly moving her fingers in a wave-like motion. Her body. Her body! Ah, she had returned. It had taken long enough. Did that mean Ben was off sitting on the other side, by the chair? Oh, how wondrous it was to be back in her bod--

A--
A--ack. Things still hurt.
That was right. She did not have time to adjust to this pain ...
Alright, Olivia. Stay calm. Stay tough. This pain is nothing. She slowly lifted herself up, sitting up on the old wooden desk. Stains of black floated on the wood around her, old, sending off memories of her first serious contraptions on this table.

She looked towards the chair, and--
Oh.
Oh, where was Ben?
Did he leave her so quickly? For god sakes, how rude! Olivia pouted, narrowing her eyes. He would get hurt in these woods! He had little idea of what could be lurking throughout them. Were the snakes here? Hrm. She would have to text him.

Her phone was still here, yes? She patted around near the table, and felt the familiar plastic case. Wondrous! She picked it up and turned it on. Everything still seemed intact. For all of Ben's worrisome foolishness of suddenly leaving, he certainly cared for Olivia's little old body.

Ack.
It was still sore, however ...

Foolish fool! Olivia giggled. Ben would be alright, no?
Ah, but all of those texts to her were on his phone. She would be unable to reply, for now.
But first things, she should most likely leave this old place quite soon.
It was a shame. Ah, a true shame she would be unable to reply to malchik, especially ...

Olivia shifted to the side of the table, dangling her pale legs above the ground. A quick, graceful leap should work, no?
Olivia jumped, and-

ACK-
CURSES.

She fell, collapsed, to the floor.
Oh-- did-- did her legs give way?

She could barely move. What was this?
... It was pain, it would be pain. Yes. Yes, very good, Olivia.
She giggled on the floor, holding her legs close to her.

What if there were threatening things on this ground?
She bumped the nearby cupboard in front of her with her sinewy arms. A metal pipe tattered to the floor next to her, and she grasped the cold steel in her flowery hands.

"Viola!" Olivia called out. "Viola, dear!"
There was a soft, metallic chirp, and Viola settled down in front of Olivia's face, cocking her head.
"Viola, record message," Olivia commanded.
Viola's one robotic eye flashed blue, and the soft hum of recording projector sang out from between her feathers. Very good, my dear friend. Everything was set. Olivia cleared her throat, and put on her cutest voice.

"Oh, malchik dear! It appears I've fallen in the workshop and I can't get up! Oh ...
Oh dear ... I certainly need your help, if you may ... you're my only hope, malchik dear!"
Olivia put in an extra whimper, her soprano with the tone of a newborn kitten.
"Please come to the workshop! I-- I oh, I shall make it worth your while, my dear malchik.
My only want is to see your face for Christmas rescue me! ..."
Olivia winked at Viola, and whispered. "Cut message."
The humming stopped, and Viola's robotic eye turned green. Olivia let out a giggle. Viola chirped out joyously, as if scolding Olivia, yet laughing with her at the same time.

"Please send that to Elliot Anderson, my malchik, Viola. Quickly now, dear!'
Viola rose and flapped off, out of the house.
Olivia rubbed her leg tenderly.

Kukukuku.

It was snowing. Too perfect for Christmas Eve. ...She should be somewhere warm, snuggling by a fire with some hot chocolate or cookies. That's what television said, at least. Instead, she was on the monorail heading back to Coy City, alone. Staying in Brookridge would only result in more loneliness. When all else failed, rely on family. Family would be family no matter what.

Eleanora had been seriously tempted to visit the boys dormitory again and just lay outside of John's door...like a cat. Her heart sank. Moondrop.

When had everything gotten so sad? ...Ah, the moment Cherno took her hand. She realized then that something terrible had shifted, and that she was alone...and that no one would protect her. He was dry and distant and in the end he had completely disappeared. Her thoughts were dragged back to John. Of course, she still didn't believe in death...But everyone who had left this world was unreachable to her. It hurt. It shouldn't have hurt so bad, why did it hurt? Where had her resolve gone?

HEH.

She hadn't even known John that long at all. She knew him, literally, for only a few days. Why had she gotten so attached in the first place?

WHY, INDEED.

The train stopped and she stood, dragging her suitcase onto the platform and towards the bus that would eventually bring her home. The white wand hidden under her sleeve as usual dug uncomfortably into her arm. She groaned and pulled it from the strap, shoving it into her suitcase before continuing.

xxxxxxxxxx Just before Heidi had answered him, Harley was able to keep the necklace from her sight. He watched as she fumbled just a bit with what she was holding, " Y - Yeah, " and she then pointed to something inside of the display glass, " I would like to get that for Zoey, after being stuck inside her and stuff. "

Harley raised an eyebrow and then looked to see what she was motioning at; a jewelry box, huh? It was very pretty. How sweet. Just then, he started to look around for someone to help them out, and only spotted the girl who had greeted them at the door. He rolled his eyes; he really didn't want her to flash him goo-goo eyes again. Once more, he scanned the area and took a breath on finding another staff member. Thank god.

" Excuse me, " he called over to them, and an older gentleman looked up, " Could you help me out with this jewelry box, we'd like to purchase it. " The man glanced around Harley to see Heidi and a smile grew on his face; it was one of those smiles old people showed when they thought they knew something others didn't.

" Sure. " he told them, and then made his way over.

After a few minutes, the man handed Harley what Heidi wanted and assured him help again, if they needed it. Harley turned to Heidi and held out the box to her with a smile, " Here you are. " He said, " You ready to check out? Or wanna look around some more? " Harley didn't think he could get anything else from this shop for any one else.

That girl did not reply the night before and now the day was nearly half way through. How annoying.

Elliot sat at his desk writing up notes concerning this supposed game as both as something needed to be done and a distraction to pass the time. Though it hardly helped as he would often pick up his phone and tumblr to check for new messages. On top of that he even began going through his old ones, just in case something had been missed. While doing so the text from his father appeared on the screen once more, still unread.

Oh. There were two messages. Sigh...

He really did not wish to see them but he had said he'd even ask his father for permission to have a family doctor help Olivia. And even if the fool had not replied it would be inappropriate to make that offer and then have to take it back because his dad got offended by the lack of replies. So the messages were opened.

What a wonderful start to not seeming ungrateful.

After moving to pack his notes and a few other things in his school bag, Elliot grabbed two small gift boxes wrapped in brown paper with a lazily tied "bows" around them. (More like simple purple strings.) With these things he exited his room and headed for the parking lot, but on the way there a familiar little bird perched near by. Why was Viola here?

The question was soon answered as a recording began to play and throughout it Elliot could only blankly stare at the thing.

"Don't you think you're being..." he mumbled, wishing to ignore what he had just heard but found it impossible to do so. Even if it all was just some joke he couldn't leave the girl on her own. She was far too stupid for that, it seemed.

Once outside James, the newly hired driver, waved with a smile. The lad then opened the back door for Elliot who slid in before announcing they were making a stop on the way to his home. And with that they were off.

It wasn't long before he made it to the burnt mansion, leaving the driver with the car, and found the old workshop. Was rather easy to get to there, especially as he ignored everything else by putting his full attention on finding Miss Idiot. And sure enough there she was, laying on the ground like a useless dolt.

A moment was spared to stare at the girl with disbelief before he moved closer, reaching out his hand to help her up yet again. Was this going to become a frequent event?

"You could have skipped the dramatics."

Harley looked into the case and then proceeded to flag down an associate to unlock it. She noticed the friendly clerk from before nearby, but Harley seemed determined not to get her attention. It seemed odd, but she didn't question it. He caught the attention of an older gentleman and approached the pair smiling. He seemed more than eager to help and she was pleased.
"Here you are," he said while passing the box to her.

More customers continued to flood into the store and she was slowly beginning to feel uncomfortable, but breathed a little easier when the box was passed to her. It was smooth and glossy from the layer of varnish, cool to the touch, but not too cold. "You ready to check out? Or wanna look around some more?" She shook her head. There wasn't much else that caught her eye here. Heidi had already decided on the hair dye for Casey, but maybe it would be good to get him something else as well. She didn't want him to feel excluded in the lavish gift giving. Heidi followed Harley and the sales associate to the counter to pay. While they wrapped it up neatly, Heidi pulled the neceessary amount of pulls from the envelope without revealing esavtly how many were in there.

"Where to now?" she said as they finished up and headed for the doors.

Altair laid there beat by the constant kick he received as his so called punishment. After a good while the old man had called them off and the group had wandered off to do their thing. Soon enough the Santa area was closed and only Altair and the old man were the only ones left there. "You goddamn old man, must of had a real good laugh at that" Altair said getting up

"Hmph boy you must have not been listening well enough, I was laughing a loud as I can" the old man said as he sat on his throne.

"well excuse me for not hearing you from all that kicking" Altair said dusting his clothes as he glanced up at the old man. "So what bring an old ******* like you here to Brookridge?" Altair said

"Just checking up on the dumbass before me to see if he didn't do something stupid...Where is Heidi" the old man said

"off with her friend Harold or something" Altair said closing his eyes as he scratched the back of his head with a sigh.

"heh the girl's already gone off and got tired of you" the old man said with a grin

".....maybe yeah" Altair said softly

This sudden answer actually caught the old man off guard. "Altair....what happened?" the old man said narrowing his eyes at the teen.

"He is here....somewhere in Brookridge...I met him but nothing happened...yet" Altair said opening his eyes as he glanced back at the old man with an equally serious stare. "I know what your wondering and no...I didn't involve Heidi into this...but" Altair said

"It would be better off if the girl didn't know you...correct?" the old man said ending Altair's sentence. "Its always like this Altair, when you get close to somebody you always try to push them out of your life. This is the exact same thing with what you did with Casey. You two were close but that fucking stopped when you realized it." the old man said as he closed his eyes and let out a sigh "Well no matter what I do say its up to you" the old man said glancing back at Altair "just don't **** up something nice you have" the old man said closing his eyes "now get lost, and I'd best see you tomorrow" the old man said.

Closing his eyes with a smirk Altair turned away and walked "yeah yeah you damn old man" Altair muttered as he raised an arm in farewell as he walked.

Marcus ended the call with his brother. He said he would be on stand by. Marcus carefully left Altair's room for his own. Looks like his roomy was gone without so much as a Merry Christmas. When had this world become so rude!? Sighing he took a hangar from his closet and a scared snake check before deeming his bed safe enough to sit on. Time to check the news while he waited. Briefly he wondered if Marina was okay.

Theodore threw on something casual for the day and left the room with his important belongings as soon as he woke up, ignoring the breakfast (a hard-boiled egg and some fruit) KIERA had left him. Luckily, he slept decently and was most pleased by his lack of dreams; good or bad, and now it was time to get out of this terrible place and head back to the dorms. As he navigated throughout the empty, dark halls of Antilum and towards elevator, he wondered about the snakes again. He should have asked his father to help get rid of them...alas.

He thought of several other things, too. How long had it been since he was here--since he saw his dad? How were the other victims of the crash doing? How was Valerie? Why hadn't she come back? How was Elliot? Hm...

The inside of the elevator smelled of carpet cleaner. He crinkled his nose and held back a sneeze before using his thumb to hit the shiny plastic '' button. It lit up in response and the elevator doors shut. The elevators at Antilum were not exactly conventional. They were globe-shaped pods, essentially, that were attached to a track. The pods could ride along this track going up, down, left or right. It was pretty fantastical, really, when he thought about it. He held onto one of the handles above him as it began to move down the track with a low, smooth rumble.
He was heading to the bridge that would lead him back to the main building when the familiar rumble suddenly stopped. He did not think much of it at first...but then a few minutes passed and it became evident that he was not moving...and then the lights flickered and went out and he was engulfed in darkness. No. This is...God damn it.

His phone was pulled out for some light and he jabbed irritably the fire escape button. If the fire department showed up and snooped, it was Antilum's own fault. Things often went wrong here. They were pretentious. ...Then again, if that were the case, maybe this button was for show. He...was spending Christmas Eve stuck in an elevator? No, that wasn't happening.

He flipped through his contacts and confirmed an outgoing call to 'Dr. Timothy'. It rang once and then went straight to voice-mail, so he called again. ...And again. And again. Still no answer, but by the tenth call, Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu was being blared into the elevator's speakers. This was on purpose. What a terrible person his father was.

He flipped again through his contacts. He sighed gently when his eyes settled on Elliot's name. He had no choice. He confirmed the call and held his phone up to his ear. His chest hurt and his stomach was suddenly unsettled. Would he even answer? ...No, he knew Elliot well enough. He would answer.

Softly, Theodore bit his lower lip and released the handle, leaning back against one of the curved walls as he waited.

I am getting sick of the color white.
Bronagh at this point had finished describing the room and had started writing silly little holiday greetings. She was trying to not be corny with the "Bless the Holiday" shit she almost always received from relatives.
Unfortunately for her, she was having 2 different types of greetings written.
"Hope the holiday welcomes you warmly."
"You see that powdered stuff on the ground? It's called snow, guess what? It's cold."
Bronagh was feeling more for the 1st one because the 2nd type was turning really sucky, and no one likes a sarcastic Christmas card... at least to that extent.
Bronagh ripped out the page with all the silly Christmas greetings, crumbled it up, and threw it across the room into a trash barrel.... well, sort of. It bounced off one of the male nurse's heads and into the trashcan. She quickly made it seem like she was not the one who threw it by starting to write again.

Senator's daughter in helicopter crash, soon found to be missing. What? What? What? Why was the girl he was just worrying about missing? Marcus clutched his dark curls in a frantic grip, dear god, if she was missing, was she even alive? How many of the other game players were in that crash? He searched through his phone, he had to text a few people. Fortunately, his phone only held a few people. Marcus sighed at the thought but still sent a message to Olivia.

*To Olivia: --Hey. It's a snake infested town with very low temperatures. I haven't heard from you in a bit, just making sure you're okay, Olivia.--

*Marcus*

He sent the same thing to Marina, but switched out the Olivia with a Marina. He hoped she would be found soon. The game players seriously needed to come up with a game plan. His phone was checked for the time as he turned his attention back to the T.V. the snakes were still rampant. But slowly and surely being contained. Unfortunately, for snake fearers such as Marcus, that still meant it was too dangerous to venture outside for anything but the essentials. Marcus sighed again, checking his phone once more, still no call back from his brother, and Christmas was literally coming with the next sunrise. He glanced at his gaming station and stared at his unfinished game of Assassin's Creed. He felt a little bad picking up the controller and killing Templars as the town went through it's troubles. But what could he do, going on a snake genocide? Instead he'd go on a Templar one.

xxxxxxxxxx Kallisti remembered an ask she had received on Tumblr from the blog only-experimentation. It had annoyed her slightly because she didn't like it when people asked her questions. They had no business in doing it, and they were disallowed to peer into her life. They were like Melissa. She liked to ask questions and take notes on the answers Kallisti was forced to give. Assuming, but that was why everyone asked questions, to get answers. Questions were fine, of course, but not when they were directed to her.

She decided to answer at last.

Why would people want to know about her, what would they use the knowledge for? This was what bother her the most about being asked questions. She did not want to let other people in.

xxxxxxxxxx After they checked out, Harley guided Heidi out of Hallmark and around the people who were passing. He wanted to go to GameStop, thinking that it was a place Anthony might go.

Damn sentimental feelings.

When they finally trekked across the mall, he found one of them and saw that it was fairly empty, which was good. Heidi didn't seem to like crowds much, and frankly, he didn't trust anyone around him.

" Hmm. " He hummed, " I think Alli would like video games, too. What do you think? " he asked as he let go of her and looked through the PS3 and 360 sections. Frankly, he didn't know what kind of games she liked or played; they'd never really played together.

Did demons celebrate Christmas, or did they think it was some frivolous holiday for mortals? He laughed at the thought of Crestatia dressing up like a female Santa Clause and parading around, spreading death and other depressing gifts from a black sack.

After checking around a little, Harley picked up Tales of Vesperia; Alli liked RPGs, didn't she? He knew that she had a 360, so she'd be able to play this, but did she already have this game? Eh, if she did, it was the thought that counts. If not, she'll have a new game to add to her collection. Harley smiled, he hoped she would like this.

He picked up another game and thought it would be perfect for Anthony. He looked somberly at his reflection in the case, and then sighed. Anthony, dead? Ahg. He put a hand to his face and rubbed at his eye. That kid . . . Really dead? No. He didn't think so, he didn't want to believe that. Would someone like him die so easily? He honestly didn't think so.

After he purchased the two video games, Harley looked to Heidi, " Think anyone you know would like a game? "

Nor bid a warrior smile, nor teach a maid to weep? »

As the dirty philistine malchik stood over her, Olivia giggled from the ground. How unfortunate. He should be the one here. But like a fish, he fell directly into her net.
She feigned a kitten-like sigh and smiled with a sinister air. Her voice grew cold, yet spiced, as if an iced masala chai. "I live for dramatics, you buffoon. Why else did you think I would call you here?"

Pain! Pah, all pain had gone away much quicker than she had noted. Even with that uncharacteristic fall. She was ecstatic that the malchik had been caught in her little web, and really, it was truly a long way that a small white lie could go, no? Olivia giggled, and grasped the boy's finger between her own index and thumb, delicately, as if holding paper.

She then jumped up, not a single soreness in her body, and glanced directly up into the philistine's eyes, her bright irises sparkling with sinister delight and amusement. Olivia did not like missing her appointments, and in these cases -- especially when the drat boy seemed to want to avoid them -- she had to get over with them quickly. Tick tock. Time passed on.

"We missed our appointment, my dear, foolish lowlife who will never amount to anything." She closed her eyes, her lashes soft in the dull light of the basement. "Rain throws itself from the skies even in the direst of days, and like it, we too must not dilly-dally with all of the happenings of the world if it means delaying our personal world." She brought her delicate, gentle hand to her lips and kissed her fingertips, before opening her eyes again. "The new year shall dawn soon, after all."

Lunging like a cat, she quickly grasped both of his hands, locking him towards her, and drew her body closer to his. He was ... very warm. Olivia would be glad that he did not get cold from visiting the forest just for her, if she cared even a jiff about this awkward, useless fellow. She looked up at his face. How he would squirm and be embarrassed was so absolutely amusing to Olivia! Ahahaha, how much fun it was to see this malchik flustered.

"Viola," She called out to the bird, briefly turning her head away. "Initiate appointment."

A soft, metallic chirp off in the corner of the room was followed by the bright tones of the bandoneon.

She turned back to the foolish boy, gazing at him as bright embers danced in her eyes. A genuine smile graced her face, as if she were eager to continue this.

Her voice turned from its gentle, soothing tones to something passionate and fiery.
"Let's dance."

It had been a while since Dylan had received that text. He'd pocketed his phone as usual, and continued about his business. But now, he was walking down the road, with a bag under his arm from a recent purchase. He didn't have work for the next few days. The club was shut down due to Miki-chan's grieving. Apparently an old friend of the Japanese guy had died in the hospital from a snake bite, and her son had been hit by a car all in the same timing.
Dylan had once met the aforementioned and now deceased Ms. Ashes, and her son. They weren't bad people, so it was unfortunate that their deaths had come around so suddenly. ...It was just another way that the logic of this world was messed up. The good seemed to die early, while those who just existed day by day like himself continued to live on.
Dylan felt the package under his arm and thought of Marina. ...It's not like he cared enough about her to buy her a Christmas present, but she'd apparently bought him one, so it was the least he could do. ...And well... besides the fact that he'd spent a fair bit on it and it was clearly something that suited her tastes, there was clearly no sign that he showed any care at all. Nope.
Either way, with no work, Dylan decided to go home for an early night. It was Christmas day tomorrow, and he still had to wrap the gift he'd bought Marina. ...Oh joy. Wrapping.
...On the way home, Dylan somehow got into three separate fights. ...He won them all of course though.
Once home, he did what he needed to do and then went to sleep, not particularly excited about Christmas tomorrow.

As Nate continued his search on the group floors, he eventually got bored and took a seat to rest. Just walking around looking for someone he didn't know would become a bore and a chore, so he would just keep an eye out for anything that stuck out. It wasn't long before he saw a paper ball bounce off a nurses head. If that's not a clue, I don't know what is. As he looked for the thrower, he noticed the girl nearby. He wasn't familiar with the her and odds are she was the same with him. Still, he's already come this far and it'll be pointless to turn back now. So he got up form his seat and casually said. "Hello."

Matt had spent the rest of the day sorting out presents for the next day ad stuff. He still didn't know many people here so he didn't have much to sort and Zoey's he'd got months in advance. His day was uneventful and he was blissfully ignorant to any drama going on around him. Although he did think he spotted the tail of a snake hiding but dismissed it as his imagination before going to bed for the big day tomorrow.

Bronagh felt she had successfully gone unnoticed from hitting the nurse on the head and just kept writing "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" over and over again in case they were still looking.
After a short bit she heard a male voice say, "Hello."
SHIT
She casually looked up and noticed the male was not the nurse, she was kind of confused by the approach though... why was he talking to her?
She just casually let out a smile and spoke, "Hello."

xxxxxA--aah--

...

Cherno opened his eyes.
He was on the cold earth, lying spread towards the darkening night heavens, his coat a tattered mess, and his vision a wee bit blurry. He was ... he was back?

Was that all a dream?
What was going on?

"Cherno.""This is the first time I've spoken to you. But I trust that you can use this power well, whatever it is." "If we never get back, give my regards to Olivia."

...
That was right.
Those two kids. The Brookridge ones. They-- the island-- they were.

Cherno rose, slightly hunched, and looked up at the cold stars. That boy. What was his name? Ben? He knew Olivia too? What-- he won-- and he gave--
He looked at his hands. They were trembling and worn, as if his experiences haunted him.

He had-- he had the power to declare ...
That was right. The demoness had even given him specific instructions and restrictions.
Cherno's mind raced, and here he stood, alone in the Heliocanthea, not a sound to be heard around him.

But the kids--
They-- they were--
Gone.
They were gone. Because of him. Because of fucking him.
He fell back to the cold stones of the pavement, his knees shaking hard.

He felt hollow. So hollow. More people lost their lives on his watch. Permanently. Permanently.
Cherno wanted to yell. To yell and to scream. He punched the ground with his bandaged hand. He was dead! He couldn't feel any pain, right? Right? Ahahaha. Tears streamed down his face. But he couldn't yell. He couldn't let out anything but a mere whimper instead of a bang. These people kept dying and dying and dying and dying. And he barely got to know any of them. To-- to protect them. His tears dropped, like rain, to the pavement.

Cherno inhaled.

And Cherno slowly, but surely, stood up again.
A wind swiftly blew through his strands of raven hair. He shook the soreness out of his bandaged hand. He grit his teeth.

Their deaths would not be in vain, goddammit.
This was the power that came once in a while. He would-- he would need to use it wisely.
He began moving, slowly, carefully, back towards the dorm. Was Eleanora there? He missed her. He wanted to know if she was still there. How stupid of him to leave her like that! Cherno could have positively punched himself.

But ah ...
Keep your head, Cherno. It is the only way you can continue to survive here.
It is the only way the others can continue to survive ...

His feet scraped across the gaunt, stoic stones, as he dragged himself, limping, towards his familiar room.
First things first. He would not tell anybody about this. He would need to test his power.
And he would need a plan.

But he wanted to know if Eleanora was still okay. He made a promise, dammit.
