Books and charts and maps were scattered about the table in the study room that Hay Sun had picked out for herself. It had a good view of where she parked her motorcycle, and the park across the street.

She could have stayed at home and did this research, but the library had a sense of being official about it, and she felt more comfortable knowing that she had an endless resource of knowledge at her finger tips.

Right now, the Wikipedia page on archangels was quickly becoming her best friend. She was abstaining from touching any bibles or religious scripts that the library had because . . . Well, just for the sake of not touching them.

Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael are always mentioned . . .❞ she murmured to herself, looking over the page and pictures. They weren't exactly benevolent creatures — archangels were warriors of the higher god. ❝Seven archangels . . .

It was from various beliefs that there were seven archangels, though this wasn't a widespread thing. The Catholic Church only recognized the three that most everyone knew, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Eastern Orthodox recognized seven, including the former three, Selaphiel, Jegudiel, Raguel, and . . . Uriel. Hay Sun tried not to let that name bother her.

Some of them were also associated with days of the week, weird. And seasons. Weirder. She shook her head, and then stared hard at the link that was leading to the page on Uriel. She had already looked up Puriel — There wasn't much to be said about him, but that search had led her to finding out that Uriel was sometimes referred to as Puriel. Both an angel and an archangel.

Hay Sun slumped back in her chair.

A thought occurred to her. Lucifer was an angel, right? She wasn't sure, and then went on to confirm. He was a fallen angel. Fallen angels were those against God, they were led in a war against him, in some beliefs. Were there any situations where fallen angels weren't evil? Some of these guys seemed cast out pretty wrongly.

NOW THINK, WHY DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR TO YOU?

She clicked her tongue and hated how much she was getting into this. Even with all this research, what was that supposed to change? Angels and gods still weren't real, and these . . . hallucinations she had been having were just spells of being lightheaded.

She just wanted to know the truth.

    DAY: 5 - 4/5 | DATE: September 26, 2013, Thursday | LOCATION: On the run in Mexico

Once again, he was covered in his own blood. He was walking through a deserted alleyway, propping himself up against the brick wall next to him. A trail of blood visible on the wall behind him. It stung all over. His clothes were soaked red, and his face was dripping with blood. It's clear he had been in a fight, and that he had lost.

He kept walking forward, towards the streets filled with people walking and cars driving past. Slowly he made his way over before finally collapsing halfway to his target. His vision blurred as blood dyed the alleyway red. As his vision faded, he could see someone come up to him. From the little he could make out, this person seemed female. She asked him if he was ok, a stupid question considering, but still, a nice gesture. He reached out and grabbed her skirt, getting a little blood on it. He tried to say something, but his lung was punctured and he coughed up some blood. You know how that impedes the oratory.

She ran into the street with her phone, calling an ambulance to pick him up. However, before he could find out more about what was going on, his vision went black.

Sam woke up, this time more calmly than usual. He sat himself up and looked around the room. It was a motel room, the same one he was in last night. So he really did escape from prison with that Chicken Winged jerkwad. He wondered if the news had released any information about that. Sam grabbed the remote that lay next to the Obsidian Knife and turned the TV onto the news. As soon as he saw the channel, his mugshot was flashed on screen. Yes. Yes they did. It was time for him to hightail it out of there. He went to the window and looked around, luckily he was on the first floor, so he could just jump out through the window. No one was around, so he quickly made his getaway along with his knife and the two pictures.

He walked around for a little bit and looked for something he could use to cover his face. From his peripheral vision, he could see a sombrero on a wooden crate. Sam looked around to see if anyone was looking at him. Thankfully, no one was. He grabbed it and put it on, tilting his head down to conceal his face from others. This would work nicely until he found something else to cover his face with. Plus, it provided shade for him when it was sunny. He kept walking, looking for something else to take. Over by an abandoned fruit stand, he spotted a car. Since he was an escaped convict, he'd need someway to get around quickly to avoid being found by the cops.

After making sure no one was looking, he broke into the car and hot wired it to get it running. He placed the sombrero on the passenger's seat and started driving. There was no where he could really go to, but he just needed to get around. Especially if people were going to be looking for him. He was sure that the news of his escape had reached the North Americas by now, so going to the border was out of the question. Sam kept driving, not really sure where he was going.

"Actually, it would appear that I am just where I was meant to be, Henrik." He watched this stranger as he spoke, already assuming the man to be one of two things. Someone researching Henrik's own work...or someone unwanted. If it was the latter, Henrik would have taken his gun and threatened the man until he left. At least, if he was in America. Henrik spent his teenage years there so of course he had owned and fired a gun before. Wasn't that how nearly everyone was in that country? Well now he was just thinking of stereotypes. He never took it with him so it didn't matter now.

"You should probably join me out here on the porch. That is, if you do not wish for your fiance to know about what you really are."

What did that mean? How did this man know he had a fiance? Henrik did not wear an engagement ring. He began to clench his fist, beginning to feel that this man might prove to be a threat to Iris. Henrik was not going to allow some stalker to- Then Danel revealed his wings. He had noticed something odd about the man but until now he had thought it was just suspicion. Now he knew it was something much more and he wasn't sure if that was a good thing.

"I know you've been remembering. You're not the only one having the dreams. You have a family on the way. I suggest you listen to me."

In his mind he ran through as many of the physical laws as possible in the short time frame he remained silent. The only explanation for this was the use of some kind of optical trick. Mirrors? No, moving around would have caused an illusion to be seen through. Unless this man had access to a vast amount of sophisticated equipment...none of which was exactly travel size, there was no way he could have made wings appear like that. They simply appeared. They did not spring out as if hidden behind Danel's back or under his clothing. Henrik took a deep breath, finally taking in what Danel had said.

"I'll be outside. You can put decorate it without me." He called out to Iris.

"Hurry back or I'll eat it all without you!"

Henrik shut the door behind him as he looked over Danel once more. This wasn't a dream. Henrik had already pinched himself to make sure. "If there's family coming we should have made more cake." Henrik spoke dryly.

His work had been held back for a couple of days and though after what Alistair went thought, he did not really use it as an excuse to merely laze around and just do nothing. He merely finished whatever he could on his computer and once he felt satisfied he finished what he was doing and Alistair merely sat back with a sigh as he closed his eyes "hmmm things just don't feel eventful anymore ever since an angel burst through my front door" Alistair said silently before rising to his feet.

As he walked down the white aristocrat merely poured himself some wine and took a seat. Taking a seat he began to think about the moment. The thought of other angels never really escaped his mind and he actually wondered if maybe they walked all around him. Maybe he operated on one or maybe they were as far as Antarctica. Whatever the case was Alistairs main concern was just what his special powers were and what his role was in all this.

Henrik disappeared inside the house for a minute and Danel waited patiently out on the porch. He let his wings stretch out and rested his hands behind his head. His cocky grin was back by the time Henrik returned outside and shut shut the door behind him. "If there's family coming we should have made more cake." Henrik spoke dryly.

Danel laughed heartily, even going so far as to clutch his stomach. "I meant that baby you have on the way, but if you would like to meet our family, I would be more than happy to take you with me." He grinned mischievously, his brown eyes darkening. "You're best off leaving that woman and baby-to-be behind. If you want them to live, they'll be safer without you." It wasn't a threat. He spoke very matter-of-factly. His tone was even and his expression bored.
"I shouldn't have to tell you what I am, but I will probably have to explain to you that what I am is also what you are." He waited. There was no doubt that a man of science such as Henrik would have some ludicrous protests about how he couldn't be an angel. God wasn't real. Religion is false--etc, etc. "All right, let me have it." He waved his hand towards himself. "I'm sure you have a whole slew of protests, but I can assure you, you are an angel. A fallen angel to be more specific. Araquiel--that is your name. I'm sure if you sit on it for awhile you will come to realize it yourself. The Angel of Vengeance sits before me. The dreams, are they getting progressively worse?" He cocked an eyebrow in genuine interest. "I could help with that, ya' know..."

"I meant that baby you have on the way, but if you would like to meet our family, I would be more than happy to take you with me."

Of course he knew about the baby. Of course he did. Every word Danel said only confirmed what Henrik had feared. That he wasn't normal. The word "angel" made it sound almost like it was a good thing...if it hadn't been attached to "vengeance". He leaned back against the door, saying nothing once Danel finished speaking as he took it in. As a scientist it wasn't his concern to worry about the metaphysical. He could neither deny nor confirm its existence. Now that it was looking him in the face and telling him to leave his fiance and coming child...

"The only family I have to worry about is right here." Henrik looked Danel in the eye as he lowered his tone. "I don't know you but if what you say is true, I'll be able to take care of my family by myself." As for his own dreams Henrik knew that even if he could not keep them separated from reality one day, he would never allow harm to come to Iris. His violent thoughts had always been directed towards those who did evil and knowing now what he could possibly be, it only made sense. True or not, Henrik still had the power to make his own choices.

"I believe you wasted your time in coming here because I'm not interested." It was the opportunity of a lifetime or even several to get involved with something beyond human experience but this was not what Henrik wanted. It didn't matter to him, nor would it matter to Iris, that he was not exactly normal. Henrik narrowed his eyes at Danel. "I don't care if you're right about me. Angel or not, I'm not the one you're looking for."

Danel leaned back in the chair, his brown hair falling in his eyes. "The only family I have to worry about is right here." Danel rolled his eyes while Henrik looked Danel in the eye as he lowered his tone. "I don't know you but if what you say is true, I'll be able to take care of my family by myself."

"If you say so," he shrugged. Henrik would not be able to take care of anyone, let alone himself.

"I believe you wasted your time in coming here because I'm not interested." Henrik narrowed his eyes at Danel. "I don't care if you're right about me. Angel or not, I'm not the one you're looking for."

Danel stood and dusted off his pants. He gave Henrik a nod and his wings shimmered out of sight as the glamour began to conceal them once more. "You are, but that is your decision. There is another that will stop by here in time. She will have something similar to say to you. I could care less what you do with the rest of your existence, so long as you don't join her. But listen well, you will be the destruction of this family. Everything you care about will be lost at your own hands. When that time comes, feel free to give me a call." He reached into his back pocket and pulled out some sort of glowing turquoise stone. "Just smash this on the ground and it will summon me."

He gave Henrik a wink before the oh-so-familiar black smoke began to circle up around his legs. It grabbed at him like snakes. After a moment, he was gone, leaving Henrik alone on the porch.

Cassandra sat in the back of a taxi cab fully engulfed in the bible and smiling as she read it. The cab driver in the front seat kept turning his head and looking back at her. She happened to be a regular in his cab, and it seemed odd for her to not only be dead silent, but she was also smiling as well. He finally decided to speak up saying, "So... Miss Hansen. You seem to be in a very good mood today."
Cassie looked up quickly and tilted her head to the side, "I am in a little bit of a good mood I guess... but not really..."
"That isn't what your expressions say, I haven't seen you smile... ever... it is odd to me."
Cassandra shrugged and continued, "Maybe it is because of the weather."
Cassandra continued to read until they arrived at her work, she payed the driver and waved as she headed off into the funeral home. She walked into the backroom and started off her work. Slowly her smile faded but she continued to eye the book she had set down on the table. It was very odd wasn't it... for a religious book, particularly the one religion she was attempting to avoid, it was very entertaining for her. Something about the writing, the stories. They just pulled her in.
There was one chapter she found herself continuously turning back to, it was in the book of Genesis when she read upon the ancestors of Adam. The one in particular was Enoch. She couldn't figure out for the life of her why such a story would draw her in, but the ascension of an angel... from the human world. It just amazed her.
God knows why Enoch, ancestor of Adam, was a focus point in the book for her.

Adam woke up complaining about the fact it was morning. He hadn't gotten much sleep last night, he had snuck out with Noah and the guys. They really didn't do anything illegal, they just rode bikes around and swung on swingsets at night while chatting with each other. They all just wanted to get outside.
Most of them in the group weren't even druggies, a couple smoked weed and Adam didn't mind drinking at parties, but he couldn't stand the smell of all of the other things they all tried. It must have been expensive too... he had enough trouble with holding onto money without having drugs be involved.
As he walked downstairs, his mother was sitting on the couch. She turned her head and gave him a loving smile, "Good morning Adam. Could you take out the rubbish for me as you head out?"
"Yeah sure..." he said, walking right past her. He went into the kitchen, grabbed himself some toast, and headed out the door with his backpack, without the rubbish.

Zadkiel appeared in a small run down house. Where a pale sickly woman who looked fairly young, but she was too sickly looking to tell was. Since they were the only ones there, Zadkiel stretched his beautiful dark wings with bright violet tips. "Is something wrong?" the woman spoke with a calming voice to Zadkiel who had a worried demeanor after his talk with Gabriel. "Yes, I...I've been banished from the host of heaven." The newly fallen angel spoke as softly as he could, trying not to make her feel that she was the cause.
"I'm sorry. This is my fault." the woman said with a sorrowful voice. "No, I chose you. And no matter what happens I will never regret it. I'd burn my own wings in the deepest pits of hell for you." he said with a forced smile and kissed her on her forehead and some color came back to her face. But what Gabriel said about his soul never knowing peace did have him worried but he dared not show it.

Tyson's phone ringed, waking him up. It was about 8 am, he saw it was James. "Jimbo? This had better be important, you know I like to sleep in late on my days off." Tyson said as he rubbed his eyes. "Yeah....my dad he's in the hospital. It's bad. Real bad.....could you take me there? It's in Dublin and I Just can't drive." James asked barely getting the words out. "Of course, man anything I can do to help. I'll be there to pick you up in a minute. Bye." Tyson said then he hanged up the phone.
Tyson quickly got dressed and had a few pieces of toast and rushed out the door grabbing his gun and badge. Although he didn't need them he still liked to be prepared for anything. He got to James house in about 30 minutes later. He honked Denise's horn. James came rushing out with a small suitcase that was pretty lumpy from being hastily packed. James got in the car and tossed his suitcase in the back seat.
"So what's wrong with your Dad?" Tyson asked James as they left the city. "I'm not to sure on the details, Ma was a little hard to understand on the phone." James said with a worried look. "And your brothers when are they coming in?" Tyson asked. "Well I talked to Tom and Matt, they said that they'd be in tomorrow. And Martian, Mike, Tim, and Stephen will be in a few days." James replied
After a few hours of driving they arrived in Dublin. "Ok turn here." James said to Tyson. Tyson turned into a large hospital.

    Friday, September 27, 2013 | Day 6: 2/5 | Mood: Meh | Music | Location: Walk to School
Adam walked towards school, rubbing his eyes and yawning. He wasn't in a rush to get there, and it certainly wouldn't affect him greatly if he was a little late. Luckily the school was in walking distance, and he had a 10 minute break-if-tardy period. He could make up an excuse for why he was late.
Oh the bloody car traffic was horrific
My mum asked for help with something and I couldn't say no.
There were so many pedestrians for some reason heading in this direction.
He probably couldn't use the last one but it never hurt to have a plan C. Adam intentionally walked the long way to school. He felt his pocket vibrate and he pulled out his cell phone to see a text message from one of the guys.
    Shit!
Adam quickly typed up a reply in a scramble.
Adam turned around sighing loudly, he really was not in the mood to head home, especially after he neglected to take out the rubbish. He started jogging back to his house swearing under his breath.

Much to all of her classmates' surprise, Hay Sun hadn't made a single snarky remark or got into a fight with anyone, not even the teachers. Of course, that didn't stop her from getting in trouble; she had been thinking all day about her research and the teachers were annoyed with it.

Mr. DeForest had a short talk with her, and she honestly explained her reasoning, which he understood well enough.

School was soon over and Hay Sun was out of her fancy-ass school uniform, slipping on something far more comfortable. There hadn't been any dreams or day hallucinations lately, and she was glad for that. Maybe they were just momentary, or situational, or something. They did seem rather random.

She spent more time at the library, scoping out a more narrow subject in her books; just Uriel and what little information she could find on Puriel. Their personalities were much like hers; quick to act, fiery, harsh . . . She could see the similarities, which was a little annoying/unnerving. Why did she have these things in common with fictional, not-real beings like angels ?

Hay Sun began to wonder if there were other people around her, around the world, having her problems.

Even if there were, how would I find them . . . ?

Suddenly, she picked up a pen sitting next to her and began scribbling down names and numbers. Her eyes were flashing white and different shades of teal and blue, and she wasn't exactly breathing.

Holy fucking shit, what the hell was that?❞ Hay Sun gasped for breath, clenching her fists on the table. She blinked a few times, and then looked at the scribbled names and numbers.

    ALISTAIR GREY : XXX-XXX-XXXX
    CASSANDRA HANSEN : XXX-XXX-XXXX
    HENRIK BRANDT : XXX-XXX-XXXX
    ADAM PIKE : XXX-XXX-XXXX
    SADIE-CLARE RENVICK : XXX-XXX-XXXX

She stared at the names and numbers. All of them were foreign to her, and those area codes didn't even look like were from around France. The last one was underlined a few times where the others weren't.Nope, nope, nope. No fucking way.I am so sick of this daze shit happening.❞ she mumbled to herself, and a passing librarian gave her a strange look.

After Tyson parked the car in the Hospital parking garage he met up with James at the front entrance. James pulled out his phone and called his mother. "Hey, we're here. What's the floor and room number?" James asked. "Tyson's with me." James answered. "Ok 2nd floor, room 209. Kay we'll be there in a second, bye." James said before he hung up.
They got in the elevator, and Tyson pressed the 2nd floor button, then pressed the button to close the door. "So, maybe you should call a cab for your mom. I'm sure she needs the rest." Tyson said as the elevator moved upward. "I doubt she'd do that." James replied while holding on to the railing in the elevator. "Well then tranq her or something. Her staying here and worrying herself sick is not gonna' help anyone. She needs rest, trust me. I'm speaking from personal experience." Tyson said as the elevator made it's stop.

Being cooped up inside the house was starting to get dull and boring and though merely sipping wine all day sounded quite interesting Alistair decided to pass on that and merely took a step passed the doorway that the angel had broken and fixed back with ease. Merely walking past it made Alistair wonder if he could do such wondrous activities. The outdoors were still as rainy as ever but regardless Alistair walked out of the manor and stood outside.

Alistair always didn't mind the rain and he was never one for appearances at all. The world was a shallow place and in the end he had to dress proper because he had no choice to keep appearances up. His name was a famous one throughout the world, but sometimes he truly wished this was not the case. In his eyes everybody was equal when it came to him and his operations. Everybody was born and everybody would soon die, it was fate. What would happen to them after their death was unknown, but regardless only fate could tell when one would die and no doctor could stop that at all.

A cycle of death and rebirth....A chain that must be shattered....

His eyes widened for a second and shook his head with a sigh as he stood under the rain., Alistair raised his head to the heavens, Alistair closed his eyes and calmly felt as the rain fell down on his skin. Azrael was the angel of death....as he thought about it he just couldn't help but laugh at the fact that person who saves lives also dealt with their end as well.

They arrived at the room. Tyson opened the door and the first thing they saw was James father laying in bed. He was hooked up to a bunch of machines and was in a coma. James walked and hugged his mother, and started saying comforting things. Tyson wasn't sure what they were saying, he zoned out looking over at James father. This reminded him a lot of when his own father was in the hospital.
"Yeah, he's not getting better." a sixteen year old Tyson said talking on the hospital room phone. "We need to talk about what we're going to do, these machines can only keep him going for so long. Bye mom." he said as he hung up the phone. "I can....hear you...ya know.....punk." Tyson's father said while having trouble getting it out. He looked a ghostly pale, with his skin about as white as milk. He had dark bags under his eyes showing that he hasn't been sleeping. "Shut up, you know your not suppose to talk old man." Tyson said trying to force a fake smile. "Look...punk I kn-.....ew you don't want to.....hear this, but....you need to be....prepared. I don't think I'm going to bounce back kiddo." Tyson's father said with a heavy heart. "Shut up, you'll be ok! You al-"
"Tyson, you ok?" James said, wrecking Tyson's train of thought. "Um yeah, I'm ok." Tyson replied trying to revert his eyes from James dad. "I'm gonna get ma a cab, will you be ok alone?" James asked. "Uh yeah, I'll be ok." Tyson said, giving him a nod.

It was hot! September in Mexico was still incredibly warm. Hana stood in the middle of the desert wears a very thin white tank top and a pair of denim shorts. Her skin was coated in a slick layer of sweat. Her clothes clung to her body and her red hair stuck to the sides of her face and the back of her neck even with it pulled back into a bun. She had a black cap on the top of her head to protect her face, but her fair skin was already beginning to freckle and burn. Hana stared down at the compass in her hand. It was glowing per usual, but the device was much hotter--probably from the direct sunlight. It was uncomfortable how hot it was here. Did they have to end up in the desert? She scrunched her nose at the tiny hand pointing NorthEast. Her blue eyes searched the lands, seeing nothing but miles of desert and cacti. Hana groaned in frustration. They had to be going in the right way, but there was nothing out there. Even being a fugitive, Abaddon wouldn't be stupid enough to just sit out in the desert. She kept wondering how he even managed to get out of jail in the first place. It was safest for everyone if that's where he remained, but now she needed him.

Hana kicked at the dirt with her sneakers and stalked back to the car in a huff of annoyance. She crossed her arms and quite literally slid into the driver's seat. How did anyone manage to live this sweaty on a daily basis? Gross. Hana gripped the slimy steering wheel and started the engine. When she turned on the air conditioner it made a lurching sound and then hot air began to blast through the vents. "Dammit!" Quickly, she shut off the air and rolled down the windows. "Joslyn, is there a town nearby on the map? We have to be getting close, but I don't see anything." Hana put the car in gear and took off down the dusty road. She could feel her lungs filling with warm sand as it flew through the windows and she reached for on of the very warm bottles of water.

After having her little . . . episode, Hay Sun decided that she would leave the library. The numbers were written inside her small notebook and she was coming up with all sorts of excuses to get rid of it and to keep it.

The names of those people . . . Were they even real? Or — . . . Alistair Grey was famous, wasn't he? Well, not in terms of movie star celebrity, but he was a pretty big deal in the medical world, right? Either way, she had heard that name before.

The other names . . . She wondered if she could look them up online. Surely one of them had to have results, right? God, if they were real people, shit was getting real. What the hell was happening? Why those people? Why those names? Did they have something in common with her?

    Fucking hell.

    Cassandra Hansen, Cassandra . . . Hansen.

Hay Sun scrolled through results that popped up on Google. A mortuary cosmetologist, in New York City, New York, United States. There was a photo of her and everything. She was . . . real.

And I am officially freaking the fuck out.❞ she muttered to herself.

With that, Hay Sun begrudgingly decided that all of them were real. Now the only question was . . . Which one was she supposed to contact first? The choice seemed obvious . . . The Sadie-Clare Renvick person looked the most important of all of them, but . . .

Alright you mind-possessing sons of bitches,❞ Hay Sun started, ❝Choose for me.

    DAY: 6 - 4/5 | DATE: September 27, 2013, Friday | LOCATION: Desert in Mexico

Wow. It was incredibly hot in Mexico. Joslyn was not used to it at all. She was used to the fair weather that came with San Francisco living. Not too hot, not too freezing, just the right temperature to be comfortable. Mexico was scorching hot, even during the Fall season. It was bordering on ridiculous levels.

"Uuuuuuuugh... Remind me again why we're in this shithole of a country?"

"I think... I think... I think we're looking for... another fallen angel." The heat was affecting Joslyn heavily. She was covered in sweat, causing her clothing to stick closely to her skin. It was unbearable. She felt like her brain was being hard-boiled or something.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh~, Well could we hurry up and find this person before we die of the sheer heeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaat~?"

"I want to get out of here, too. But... But not before we find this other fallen." She really want to seem more motivated, but the heat forced her to slump down in her seat. No matter how much she wanted to, her arm refused to move. Her breath was getting heavy from the heat.

"Dammit!" Hana turned on the air conditioner in the car to try to cool them down. It back fired when the hot air was blown directly into their faces. She quickly turned it off and rolled down the windows to the car. "Joslyn, is there a town nearby on the map? We have to be getting close, but I don't see anything." With sloth-like movement, Joslyn opened up the map of Mexico and looked for where they were on the map. She looked around the approximate area and found a town. It was about 15 miles from where they were.

"Uuugh... It's about 15 miles..." She really wanted to get out of the heat. The faster they could find this guy, the better. And she hoped that it would be worth it.

The sound of his fork tapping against the table echoed in the mostly empty dining room. The only pieces of furniture within it were that of the table and chairs. They didn't need anything else in it which only made the acoustics quite good at making echoes. Though perhaps it was more due to the tile on the floor rather than the room being empty. If it had been carpet, most of the sound would have been absorb-

"Is something wrong with the cake?"

    "Huh?"

"I'll take that if you're not eating it."

Iris reached over, pulling Henrik's plate towards herself slowly. His hand immediately pulled her's off the plate. "My cake." Iris laughed at his response before leaning in and staring at him. She knew something was wrong. Even without asking he knew that's what she wanted to know. He hadn't even taken more than a bite from it while she had already finished. "Remember that man who showed up yesterday?" Iris nodded in response. Henrik had told her that Danel was just a lost tourist, worried that if he told her the truth that harm could come to her. It took him the whole day to change his mind. Knowledge was power after all.

"That wasn't a tourist." Henrik pushed the plate to the side as he thought of how would begin. The story, short as it was, was something he could barely believe himself. He knew he had to tell her though. It was wrong to keep a secret like this from her. "I...Hm..."

    "Are you in trouble?"

He shook his head quickly. "No, that's not it." Henrik looked her in the eye and took in a deep breath to calm himself. "Just, please believe everything I'm about to tell you." He pulled a smooth turquoise stone out of his own pocket, the one Danel had given him, before beginning to tell Iris the whole story. It took him longer to finish speaking than their entire meeting had been but Henrik had to pause to reassure Iris that he had not lost his mind despite her knowing about the dreams he had been having. She would nod once in awhile as he spoke but remained silent the entire time as a look of concern stayed on her face.

"...And...that's everything. Look," he pressed his hand onto her own, "I wanted to tell you sooner but I wasn't sure if it would keep you out of whatever was coming. I only told you now because I would rather you hear this from me and not someone else who might come knocking on our door. Whether or not what he says is really true..." He glanced at the stone. "All that matters to me is that you stay out of harm's way." Iris looked at the stone as well. He pulled the stone away just as she began to reach for it, knowing what she was planning on doing. "No. If that thing actually works the way he said it does...Well I don't trust him."

Iris nodded slowly and, after a long moment, finally spoke. "I believe you." With those words a wave of relief came to Henrik.

About thirteen miles away from Hana and the other one was Dante, nearing the town they are headed to, on horseback. The heat was so intense that both Fog and himself were shuffling along at a slow pace.

“Come on, boy. We only have two miles to go.”

Fog snorted a response, saliva dripping out of his mouth.

The fallen one, in response to the searing heat, had taken off his jacket and shirt. Only his pants and shoes were left.

“It is a good thing I bought that extra-strength deodorant huh boy? I would be raining sweat by now without it.”

His clothes were draped around the back of the saddle and his pale skin shone in the sunlight. A big sombrero topped his head to give shade. The strange feeling of a pull towards Mexico City suddenly disappeared and reappeared west of the capital.

“Darn it Fog, I hate this stupid feeling. I know that both of us don’t want to be here anymore, but maybe if we fulfill this feeling, we can leave within the next week or two.”

With a happy neigh, Fog trotted a little, bringing his head high.

Their course couldn’t be changed now, though. Fog needed water and rest, and Dante needed shade. A car was coming up, and now was the chance to get someone’s attention. Bringing the horse to a halt and perpendicular to the rode, the fallen angel waved his hand to get the car’s attention.

Hana had sped off down the dirt road in a hurry. She took a sip of her warm water and followed the randomly appointed signs. She felt a little delirious. Air conditioning was a wonderful human invention. With the way temperatures were always changing on Earth, it was impressive how mortals managed to adapt over time. There were some things about science that were accurate. The whole nature of the subject was meant to be a tool provided by God as a way to understand the world, not as a means to replace him. She tapped her finger lightly on the wheel and furrowed her brow.

Fifteen miles, piped up Joslyn. She sounded as out of it as Hana.

Fifteen miles wasn't so bad, but the it seemed so much worse with the weather. Hana directed the car in the path they needed to go. Thanks Joslyn. You can try resting now if you want. Hana could keep going, it would just take a little time for her to recuperate. We'll be there shortly--couple more minutes. I won't know more for some time after that.
