He didn't kill Kamina. Kamina was caught off guard by Tymilph(sp?), which was technically when he "died", but then used his remaining Spiral Power to perform Giga Drill Break(er) alongside Simon...How does that sound like Simon killing him?

Be that as it may, he basically turned into Kamina by the end of the series and still survived. Granted, the avatar I'm getting is of young Simon...But that doesn't matter. The point is, he went from coward to hero and still survived.
