I would imagine him wanting a Master is because if not he'd disappear and return to the Moon Cell. Indepented Action apparently doesn't work like it does in the normal Fate universe. Or he may not even have that. :\
The sword makes sense from a gameplay level, after all it be kinda hard to program a game where he attacks with just projectiles.
Personality wise we don't know how different he is from normal Gil.

Okay:
So obviously I'm playing DA:O, and I am trying my hand at beating the High Dragon. My party was Sten, Oghren, and Wynne. I didn't have anything special, no Shale, no drake scale armor, not weapons with frost runes. Nothing. Anyway after getting my ass kicked about seven time I decided to call it quits for fighting the damn lizard and went back to camp. I talked to Morrigan and she tells me about her side quest of wanting me to kill her mother and stuff. So I thought, "This should be simple. Flemeth is a mage, should be a cake walk after that **** with the dragon."

Now keep in mind I did not do any form of research on this game. I was trying to go through it will little to no help from the internet. So I went to the hut and talked to Flemeth, did the dialogue, refused her offer, fight started. So I was like, "Just stop talking so I can kill you." But then to my surprise and absolute horror she turns into a freaking high dragon.

I actually yelled out loud, "A FREAKING DRAGON?!" I was terrified. I just got my ass kicked about a dozen times by the High Dragon in the moutains how would I even win here? I assumed I was going to fight a powerful mage, maybe a few demons here and there, not A. FREAKING. DRAGON.

I actively tried to run away from the fight. But again to my dismay I could not and got killed. So when I started back from my last save I got out of there and left the game for about a week.

Does Fennickzen have a meaning? I know it sounds like Phoenix, but that's not what it means.

Hmm...I like the sound of Hikōzen more, but Fennickzan makes more sense...I'll flip a coin, Heads for Hikōzen and Tails for Fennickzen.

Also, you know how Gurren Lagann's combination ends with an explosion? Well, *insert Genome and Tails's combined Gunman here" has it's own variation of a badass effect. Just sayin'.

Well, Hikō supposedly means "Flight", so that's why I chose it for Tails's Gunmen, since, y'know, Tails can fly. As for what Hikōzen means, I don't know. I just slapped Zen on the end of Hikō.
