Nah, they're too deeply connected to the original plot. See, Ryun's parents were killed recently, and his sister was taken by one of the main villains. That's his entire motivation for getting involved, and without that, he'd be uninteresting.
The other story doesn't have a main villain. It's about a virus-like thing that marks certain people, and winds up eventually making them killers. It starts off with people being kicked out of their hometowns because they have the signs of the virus, and goes from there.

The only negative part about the different story is not being able to use some of my favourite ones, because they're from a different story entirely.

Magic is magic. That's it. It can be used for any of those things regardless of person, although they would have one element that's stronger than their others, and that's generally the one their Callen would use. Ryun's is fire, for example, and Zarathos is practically made of the stuff.
