From past experience of making school RPs, its better to have everyone taking the same classes. That way no one is confused.

Hmm. RP Writers block is the worst. xD The way I usually deal with that by doing a simple layout. You don't have to make it sound spectacular, just explain the mechanics of what you want the RP to be like. Lay it all out into the regular sections (story, rules, etc) and speak casually. Like you were talking to a friend. THEN, you can go back through and make it sound more story-like, if you even feel like it. XD

That's what I was going to suggest, too. xD And yeah, maybe you could just pick and chose which ones you think would be best and put them on a list in the actual RP.

They could always chose their own year, but I feel that would lead to necessary separation (with different classes, and such). And if they're first year, they have that, "INNOCENCE--MAGIC--HAPPINESS!" feeling to mooch off of when they write. They could always be first years, but able to chose their age, regardless?

Awesome. I like it a lot. (: It sounds like a fun little RP. And I like how the places will be familiar.
Now, for the magic system, I think it would be helpful to include a link to (or a list of) spells from HP--that you can do in Year One. So people don't god mod with their own. xD
