Go for it. First season is called Gunbuster, and was one of the establishing mecha series. It's 6 episodes, with the 6th being delibritely monochrome.
Second Season, where Nono is from, is called Diebuster (or Gunbuster 2). Also 6 episodes long, it was the prototype for Gurren Lagann in terms of scale.

Hmmkay, let me try to explain.
Nono is actually Buster Machine No. 7, the most powerful Buster Machine still alive, and also has control over drone units known as the Buster Corps.
When she combines with every Buster Corp all together, they become Diebuster, which was designed to be the Absolute Defense System of Earth, but Nono can control every unit like her own limbs, meaning that she essentially is Diebuster, in the same way that Simon is STTGL, or Lagann.

Sure. You're also able to portray her slightly differently if you like, since in the manga she's more odd than emotionless. She wears a horse-head prop on her head to school because she wants to remain in character for the school play. She's so dissapointed when they ask her to play a speaking part, because she wanted to be the horse.
She took it home and kept it afterwards.

I'm actually working on another RP, which will be an alternate universe of Evangelion, based off of a manga I've been reading. It has the Evas being weapons that are summoned like Personas. Officials will most likely be in it, as well as originals, so I don't know if you're interested or not, but you'd have first pick on controlling Rei, if you wanted to be her for that too.

We can't really put her in 01's Plug, because that'd interfere with the Berserkness. She'll either have to miraculously be fit enough to pilot 00, or sit this fight out and be Shinji's advisor on how to pilot 01, because there are no other mechas that NERV has access to.
